An office on a balcony or loggia: the pros and cons

There is a balcony or loggia in any modern apartment, but, almost always it is small, but, very effective area we do not use it as correctly and rationally as we would like. Apparently, the stereotype works: a balcony is a pantry. But, this is far from the case, a balcony or a loggia is an ideal place to create sports corner for children or a mini gym for adults, small summer kitchen, beautiful winter garden or so necessary modern man- a separate working area, office.

It is about the study on the balcony or loggia that we will tell in more detail.
Why choose a balcony or a loggia as a place to organize a working area? Consider all the pros and cons.

The advantages of placing a study on a balcony or loggia:

- illumination: balcony or loggia equipped large quantity windows, therefore, during daylight hours, sunny, natural light prevails as a source of illumination. And given that natural light is very favorable for the eyes and, in general, for the mental and psychological state of a person, work in such an office will be both pleasant and productive.

- ventilation: only in a well-ventilated room can the human brain work at full capacity! And on the balcony or loggia this contributes a large number of windows.

- privacy: balcony or loggia - as a rule, places in the apartment with the greatest distance from the hallway, corridors, in the depths of the apartment or room. Therefore, even when a balcony or loggia is attached to a room, with the subsequent organization of a working area on it, a certain isolation remains, again, contributing to fruitful work.

The disadvantages include the complexity and cost of transformation ordinary balcony or a loggia into a full-fledged study.

An office on a balcony or loggia: where to start

Before starting any repairs in the apartment, you need to have a good idea of the end result, in this case, how it will be organized, how the office on the balcony or loggia will function and look. And in order to do it right, you need to know what, in general, there are types of cabinets on the balcony.

According to the method of organizing space, all study rooms on a balcony or loggia can be divided into:

- individual: this is a full-fledged office on the loggia, isolated from the main space of the room window block with a door. In this case, the design of the study balcony may be different from the design solution of the whole room, be more minimalistic and functional.

- attached: in this case, a balcony or loggia acts as a study, but not as an isolated room, but as a part, a zone of the room to which it is attached. In this case, the design of the office should be in perfect harmony with the design of the entire room.

According to the type of furniture used on the balcony-office, study rooms on the balcony or loggia can be divided into:

- stationary workrooms: in fact, this is a real small office, which has everything (tables, cabinets, shelves, computer, printer, etc.) and at the right time.

- mobile workrooms on the loggia: most often have the form of an office on demand. The furniture in such an office on the balcony is arranged in such a way that at the end of work, everything slides in easily, quickly and compactly, closes and hides, for example, in a built-in closet. And the balcony or loggia continues to perform a completely different function: a place of rest, a gym, etc.

Having a good idea of \u200b\u200bthe office on the loggia, the design of which is perfect for you, you can start working on creating your own office on the balcony.

Cabinet on the loggia: stages of creation

Here are the main stages of arranging a study on a balcony or loggia and what you should pay attention to Special attention in their implementation:

  1. Glazing: required condition to organize an office on the balcony. At the same time, it is better not to save money and install triple-glazed windows.
  2. Wiring: not a single office can do without office equipment, and an office on the balcony is no exception, that is, sockets are needed, as well as, in addition, artificial ceiling lighting and switches for it. To do this, you need to lay strobes, and this is a dusty and dirty task, therefore, it should be done at the initial stage. At the same time, to save time, effort and money, it is worth taking the wires out of the adjacent room, and placing the strobes on the wall separating the balcony and the room.
  3. Warming: Depending on whether it is a balcony or a loggia, the degree and method of insulating the floor, ceiling and walls will vary. So, for the insulation of the balcony, light materials with high heat-insulating properties, dry screed are suitable. But the loggia can be insulated more thoroughly: a screed is poured onto the floor, but the walls and ceiling are still insulated with mineral wool or polystyrene foam, the layer necessary for better thermal insulation. Naturally, the insulation also includes the organization of hydro and vapor barrier so that the condensate does not destroy the internal finishing not only the balcony itself, but also furniture, as well as office equipment, which is so necessary for a full-fledged study, as well as rough finish moisture resistant drywall or plaster.
  4. Heating: unfortunately neither good windows, not the same capital insulation will not be able to fully ensure comfortable work, both for a person and equipment in harsh winter frosts. That is why you should also take care of heating your balcony or loggia. As a heating device, they can act as electric underfloor heating (easy to install, but quite expensive during operation, if you do not take care of buying and installing temperature sensors and a thermostat) or stationary heating radiators placed on the loggia (but this requires permission from the relevant building bodies, the project is quite expensive and time consuming, but economical and convenient in subsequent operation.
  5. Interior finish: subject to all the above points, materials for interior decoration you can choose any kind of balcony-study: laminate, decorative plaster, wooden or plastic lining, tiles, wallpaper, etc. - which is more comfortable and pleasant for you to work in.
  6. Workspace organization: the office is working, convenient, practical furniture. Given the fact that the balcony is not a completely standard place, then the furniture on it should be the same, that is, made to order, built-in (comfortable and space-saving).

In most cases, an unglazed balcony is used as a storage room and a place for drying clothes. Many people keep old things on the balcony, which have no place in the apartment (as well as the use of these things), but they don’t want to throw them away. But the balcony is valuable meters of your living space. If you properly dispose of these meters, you can get almost a separate tiny room, another cozy corner. We used to write about, it's time to talk about how to make an office on the balcony.

Many dream of a separate workplace in the apartment, their own office, which will allow them to concentrate on work even in a nice home interior. Separates them from the dream is just a balcony that is not used to the maximum.

How to make a workplace on the balcony

If you decide to make an office on the balcony, then you need to glaze it and make it. Windows will protect you from dust and dirt, from precipitation and, of course, from temperature changes. However, windows alone are not enough. It is also necessary to carefully insulate the balcony. Penofol is perfect for a small space, which will not “steal” your area, since the thickness of the material is only 4 mm. By their own thermal insulation characteristics this material is comparable to 50mm thick foam. Before proceeding with the installation of penofol, you need to carefully seal all the cracks and corners with airtight tape. You can also use sealant, but working with it is much more difficult.

An additional insulating layer will be required, and only then you can finish the balcony.

Pay attention to the floor. If you have the opportunity to make underfloor heating on the balcony, then this option should definitely be used. The warm floor will create the necessary temperature regime even in the most severe frosts. Suitable for regions with warmer climates conventional laminate. If necessary, you can use a small heater.

Finishing and decorating the office on the balcony

Before proceeding with the cosmetic decoration of the room, carefully consider the design project of your balcony. You need to anticipate everything important little things that will be needed in the future. For example, spare sockets or additional shelf mounts.

To finish the balcony, try to use bright hues They visually enlarge the room. white ceiling, for example, will give the interior lightness. If you have the opportunity to make glossy ones on the balcony stretch ceiling, use it. Gloss will reflect light, which will also add extra volume to the space.

Try to use natural materials or their analogues: light wood can be replaced with a wood-textured laminate. Thus, you can make your office more comfortable.

We do not advise you to experiment with contrasting and bright colors. AT small room bright colors may look too noisy and even aggressive, and such an interior quickly tires. If you want to add some color to your office, then choose one interesting accessory that will draw attention to yourself. This approach will help you successfully combine the work area with the recreation area. As an accessory, you can use, for example, a fluffy rug or an original painting.

Be sure to consider the fact that a balcony can combine several functions: not only a study, but also a place of rest.

However, the main area should be the work area. You need to place a small but comfortable desktop and an ergonomic chair on the balcony. Because the workplace usually associated with a large number of important papers and documents, then provide a small rack or cabinet for papers. Great solution for a small balcony there will be hanging shelves.

Remember that the furniture on the balcony should be roomy, but shallow. Otherwise, it will absorb all the free space.

You can equip a small library on the other side of the balcony, put a bookcase there and a small comfortable ottoman or a pear chair. Thus, you can not only work in the office, but also fully relax.

To give your balcony freshness and coziness, place a few beautiful plants to the balcony. You can use a small window sill or you can attach the plants to the wall using a planter. Small plants will look great next to books on high shelves or even on open shelves in a closet. Just remember to water them.

Lighting

Don't forget to choose the right lighting for your office. In the daytime, sunlight will come to your aid, and on cloudy days and at night, use lamps that mimic natural light.

You can place lights on the ceiling or walls, original solution will become " desk lamp”, built into the shelf above your work desk. If you can adjust the brightness of the light, then this will give you both productive work and good rest.

Do not buy large chandeliers and lamps with large shades, on small balcony they will look out of place.

If your balcony faces sunny side, then you also need to think about protection from bright sun rays. It can be special curtains for plastic windows or ordinary translucent curtains made of lightweight material. You can block out the light by using blinds, but this décor item is more suitable for office space. Blinds can deprive your office of coziness and the feeling of home warmth.

Equip Personal Area on the balcony is not easy, but such a change functional purpose balcony will help you make your life better. The balcony should not be a storage of unnecessary things, valuable square meters should not be wasted. Moreover, if you have a large balcony, then you can equip as many as two jobs. You will have to sacrifice a closet, but you will have a very comfortable office for two.

Specialization: master in construction drywall constructions, finishing work and installation floor coverings. Installation of door and window blocks, facade finishing, installation of electrics, plumbing and heating - I can give detailed advice on all types of work.

AT modern conditions more and more people are working remotely, but those who travel to the office every day have the opportunity to work from home from time to time. Allocate for such purposes separate room not everyone can, but equipping an office on a balcony or loggia is much easier. Yes, you will have to spend time and money, but you will have another full-fledged room instead of a place to store trash and seasonal items, you see, this is a very big plus.

Pros and cons of this solution

If you are still thinking about whether to remodel your balcony, then this small section will help you familiarize yourself with the advantages and disadvantages of such cabinets and make an informed decision.

Let's start with the advantages:

Additional usable space I mentioned this aspect above, you will have a few more square meters of living space that can be used not only for work, but also for recreation. Just put an armchair or a small sofa - and you will have a seating area in your office where you can relax with interesting book or a cup of coffee
good ventilation Receiving is important for high productivity fresh air into the room, and there are no problems with airing on the balcony, you just need to reach out and open the window. Naturally, when installing windows, you need to provide opening sashes in the places you need so that you are minimally distracted during work.
Good natural light It is impossible to provide ideal working conditions without quality lighting. There are no problems with this on the balcony, moreover, if the room is located on the east or south side, then curtains or blinds should be provided to limit the flow of light in sunny weather. Organizing competent artificial lighting is also not difficult, because the area is small, and you need to allocate one or two places in the room.
Good working conditions The balcony is most often located at a distance from the kitchen, corridor and other noisy rooms, this is very important for those who need silence to work. Here you can implement two options: either make the loggia combined with the room, if the noise does not bother you, or put a good balcony block, then you will get a space that is maximally protected from outside noise

As for the shortcomings, in my opinion, there are only two of them:

  1. If your balcony was in a state of disrepair, then you will have to spend a lot of effort and money in order to make a full-fledged office out of it. For some, such costs seem too high, but if you are still fired up with such an idea, then you can do the work gradually, then you will not have to invest a lot of money right away, and in the end you will still get an excellent office;
  2. Sometimes the balcony area is not enough to equip the workplace. Personally, it seems to me that if you think through everything and use the space wisely, then you can fit everything you need.

The process of converting a balcony into an office

As you guessed from the name, the whole work consists of six stages, each of which is mandatory for implementation if you want a great end result. I will consider the process from scratch, that is, the most difficult option when you outdoor balcony or a loggia without any glazing and insulation.

You need to familiarize yourself with all the information below and simply skip the work that you may already have done.

Stage 1 - glazing

If you have ordinary wooden frames, then it is better to replace them as well. Installation work is complex and responsible, so I strongly recommend that you entrust it to professionals, but you need to choose the best option.

When choosing, you should be guided by several recommendations:

  • It is necessary to purchase windows with good thermal insulation performance, for middle lane plastic structures with double-glazed windows are well suited. Single windows used on cold balconies will not work for you;

  • Modern manufacturers offer options for different colors, if desired, the frames can be laminated to look like wood to give them a more attractive appearance. Here you need to be guided only by your preferences, think about what you like the most, because you will have to spend a lot of time in this room;
  • The size of the structures can also be different, some prefer to install floor-to-ceiling options, and some, on the contrary, close some of the openings with deaf elements. It is necessary to take into account all the features of your balcony and, based on this, select the optimal solution.

When ordering windows, pay the most attention to the manufacturer of the profile and the quality of the fittings, it is better to use products from Western brands, they are reliable and time-tested.

Stage 2 - wiring

Cabinet - a room in which various office equipment can be installed, quality is also needed. Therefore, it is necessary to solve the issue of power supply in advance, here it is necessary to take into account several important nuances:

  • It is best to bring the wiring out of the adjacent room in order to hide the cable, you can lay it in a strobe, or you can close it with a finishing material. It all depends on how you will make the finish, in the first case you will need a puncher with a special peak, and in the second you need to use a corrugated sleeve into which the wire is placed and which is laid behind the exterior finish or in the insulation layer;

  • It is necessary to think over the location of switches, lighting elements and sockets in advance in order to make high-quality wiring. It is better to make an extra outlet that will not be used later than tripping over an extension cord or laying a wire over a trim;

If you will be using an electric underfloor heating system, then do not forget to bring the power wire to it as well.

  • In order not to confuse anything and not cause problems for those who do not understand electrics, I advise you to invite specialists to connect the wiring and plan it. This will eventually come out cheaper than reworking the entire system or eliminating the consequences of a short circuit.

Stage 3 - warming

Unfortunately, standard designs most often they do not provide proper thermal insulation of balconies, so you will have to carry out insulation work yourself. The process is described in detail by me in one of the articles, so here I will only touch on its main stages:

  • Exterior walls are best insulated with 5 cm thick extruded polystyrene foam.. This is a very reliable material with high thermal insulation performance, which is easy to use and allows you to achieve excellent result. To ensure the highest reliability, all cracks and joints must be filled with mounting foam, the excess of which is subsequently simply cut off;

  • On top of Penoplex, I advise you to attach Penofol - a new generation heat insulator with a reflective layer. It has a small thickness (only 5 mm) and has high performance. And the presence of a reflective layer allows you to save heat much more efficiently, so your balcony will become even warmer and more comfortable;
  • Walls that do not go outside, but are adjacent to a neighboring loggia or house, can be insulated with a layer of Penofol, this is quite enough. Fastening is done with wooden slats, I advise you to additionally close the joints with metallized tape to ensure maximum reliability;

  • As for the floor on the balcony, it can be insulated different materials, again I have covered some options in other reviews. You can use foam, polystyrene foam, mineral wool, or you can lay a dry Knauf screed. The latter option is especially good if you need to raise the floor level by 10-15 cm and at the same time insulate it;

  • It is easiest to glue polystyrene or extruded plates on the ceiling. As an adhesive, you can use a special composition, or you can use the usual mounting foam. For additional reliability, special dowels for thermal insulation are used, which have a pressure washer.

Stage 4 - heating

Even the highest quality insulation will not help to completely protect yourself from the winter cold, and if you do the work yourself, you should also take care of heating the space, there may be several solutions, you need to choose the best one:

  • If you want to install a conventional heating radiator, then you will first have to coordinate this action with the supervisory authorities. Specialists must carry out appropriate calculations, and if the design heating system allows you to remove the radiator, then you will be given permission, you will also have to redo the project, and only after that you can start work. If everything works out, then you will have stationary heating at minimal cost;

  • You can use an electric underfloor heating, this option is good because it does not need to be coordinated anywhere, and it is easy to implement. To work, you will need to purchase several ready-made modules that are spread over the surface and connected as the instructions prescribe. But this option is more expensive due to the high cost of electricity, to minimize costs, it is necessary to install thermostats so that they turn off the system when the required temperature is reached;

  • You can install an electric radiator on the loggia, which can be turned on as needed or equipped with a thermostat to maintain desired temperature. This solution is even easier, because you just need to attach or even put the structure in the right place and plug it into a power outlet. The main disadvantage is the same as in the paragraph above - the considerable cost of electricity;

  • A modern solution is the use of infrared heaters, they are mounted on the ceiling and differ in that they do not heat the air, but all the surfaces to which they are directed. Such designs consume little energy, but perfectly heat small spaces, so they are the best suited for balconies and loggias. They are easy to install, which is also important.

Stage 5 - finishing work

Sitting in shabby walls the best solution, so you need to spend at least redecorating. If all the above points are fulfilled, then we will have a well-insulated and heated space, therefore, any finishing materials can be used.

I will talk about those options that, in my opinion, are the easiest to implement:

  • Before you make an office out of a balcony, you should consider its color scheme. The main requirement is that the environment should be such that it is comfortable for you to work in it. That is why with color design you need to decide in advance so that it doesn’t turn out that you are annoyed by bright or, conversely, too dark walls;
  • For the floor, it is best to use a laminate, it can be laid even by those who have never done such work. An additional advantage is the fact that there are a huge number of textures and colors on sale, so you can choose the best solution for any situation. Price square meter can be from 300 rubles and more, it is better not to use the cheapest options, choose products at least in the middle price segment;

  • As for the walls, then you are free to choose what you like. Can be used decorative plasters, you can apply MDF panels or even, it also looks great. A very cozy working atmosphere can be created with the help of cork, but in general the choice is yours - the main thing is that the atmosphere is conducive to work;

  • For the ceiling, the most optimal, in my opinion, option is tensile structure . Firstly, it does not cost that much, secondly, it will be delivered to you in just a couple of hours, and thirdly, dust and dirt are almost not generated during operation, and your finish will not suffer. Big choice colors allows you to decorate the balcony as you need, and the elasticity of the material will prevent damage to it during temperature changes or structural movements.

Stage 6 - organizing the workspace

If all the above actions are suitable for any balconies, regardless of what you want to make of them, then in order to turn the room into an office, you need to properly furnish it and consider the location of all elements.

That's what we're going to talk about in this section:

  • First of all, you need to think over the design of the office on the balcony, for this you need to decide which elements must be present and what kind of furniture you will need. You don't need to be a designer to deal with this task, the Internet is full of photos, and you can find the perfect idea for yourself or collect the most interesting solutions and create your own unique interior;

  • Then you need to draw a sketch of the future office, you don’t need perfect lines and maximum accuracy. The main thing is to measure your space and calculate how much space you can allocate for this or that object. So you can clearly imagine the end result and understand what you need to purchase in order to make your personal account on the loggia;
  • It is worth considering what elements of furniture will be needed to organize the work. Someone needs a lot of drawers for storing papers, printer and fax installation is also required, and someone can work on simple table with a laptop. Do not try to fill the space with furniture, you need to use only what you need, it will be much more reasonable, and it will cost less;

If you want to use the balcony not only as an office, but also for other purposes, then you can make the countertop folding. When you need, you can lay it out, and the rest of the time it will not take up space.

  • As for places to store papers, it can be like drawers in the table and shelves on the walls. Choose what you like, but remember that shelves are cheaper and much easier to put up than putting together a table with drawers. The size of the shelves depends on what will be stored on them, so think in advance about what you will fold and how much it will weigh;

  • Lighting is another important aspect, it is better if you have both general system, and a separate lamp that will shine on the workplace. The most convenient are adjustable options or small structures located directly above the desktop. This is much more efficient and allows you to achieve the best effect;

  • It is very important to provide protection against sunlight if it shines in the eyes, then this is unlikely to contribute to the work. The easiest way is to use blinds, but if you do not like this option, then you can choose Roman blinds or another similar option, the main thing is to provide good protection from sunlight;

  • You also need to purchase a comfortable chair, it should fit the height of the table, not clutter up the entire space. If you have a working area on two or even three sides, then it is most convenient to use rotating options.

In principle, there is nothing complicated in the design, the main thing is that all the elements are combined with each other and provide convenient work. It is better to order furniture according to individual sizes so that it fits perfectly into the space, try to choose not massive, but light structures, in small room they will look much better. Use decorative elements to make the space feel cozy.

Conclusion

Office on the balcony great idea for an apartment, you get a quiet place to work and your family won't have to tiptoe around to distract you. The main thing is to carry out all the work described above in order to get a full-fledged room with good insulation and heating.

The equipment of the working area in the apartment has long been considered fashion trend. This is due to the fact that over time more people switches to remote work or takes tasks at home, and it is necessary to create comfortable conditions for yourself so that everything is at hand and nothing distracts from important matters.

If it is not possible to allocate a free room for these purposes, you can equip a full-fledged office on the balcony, especially since this area is often not used in any way.

We will tell you about the tricks you can use to turn a balcony into a convenient place to complete work tasks, as well as give advice on planning and styling such a room.

Advantages and disadvantages of a balcony cabinet

If until recently balconies and loggias were used for warehousing and storing unnecessary things and played the role of a kind of pantry, today they are being converted into full-fledged rooms with a special purpose, starting with a mini-gym, game room for children, an area for creativity, a compact summer kitchen or a bar, and ending with study rooms equipped with all necessary furniture and appliances.

By the way, it is not at all necessary to turn a balcony into an office space: for example, you can create, as in the photo, manicure parlor on the balcony.

Despite the fact that the balcony was not originally intended for work purposes, the equipment of the office on its territory has a number of advantages:

If you decide to convert the balcony into an office, then be prepared to experience some of the disadvantages of such an idea.

First of all, it is about high costs for repairs, because to ensure comfortable conditions you will have to additionally think over the issues of insulation, soundproofing and many others. After all, with the onset of cold seasons, it may be uncomfortable for you to work in a cool and damp room.

And, of course, the lack of free space can also affect your productivity, so we recommend that you plan all the details in advance and choose the most The right way organization of space.

Options for study rooms in the loggia or balcony area

There are several types of cabinets on the territory of the loggia or balcony. They can differ both in area (to increase the space, you can start by expanding the balcony forward and in breadth), and in the degree of openness, as well as the features of the internal equipment. Therefore, be sure to look at the photos of the study rooms on the balcony before starting the main work.

Depending on the characteristics of the organization of free space, the following types of offices on the balcony can be distinguished:

  • separate offices, which are completely isolated rooms, equipped with a wall or partition with a door and a window unit. This layout allows you to choose for the office individual design, since style differences with the living area behind the wall will not be evident;
  • attached offices are not separated from the adjacent room. There may be a low partition between them, but most often they are completely combined with the living area, and therefore they are designed in a similar style.

The following classification is related to the internal equipment of such zones. These can be stationary offices, which are a full-fledged small-sized office with installed working furniture and equipment.

If you do not always plan to use the balcony for work, you can choose the second option - a mobile office. It differs from the stationary one in that after the completion of the workflow, you can transform the balcony by sliding extra shelves, hiding some of the furniture and transforming some of its models. So you free up space for recreation or other purposes.

Regardless of how you decide to decorate a balcony or loggia, initial stages their transformations will be the same. Let's examine these procedures in detail.

The process of converting a balcony into an office

So, the creation of a study on a loggia or balcony will consist of the following steps:

  • glazing;
  • electrical installation procedures;
  • insulation of the balcony area or loggia;
  • Finishing work;
  • furnishings and design.

We have already said that if you wish, you can expand the balcony. But even if you are satisfied with the available area, carry out work to check the quality of the slab built into the load-bearing wall according to console principle. If necessary, call in specialists who will strengthen it, since when installing windows and equipping a study, there will be an additional weight load.

It is advisable to choose high-quality polyvinyl chloride double-glazed windows with double or triple glazing for the balcony. So you can additionally insulate the working area and protect the office from external noise. If you put windows with one glass, you will have to additionally use heating structures.

Attention! Immediately decide how the windows should open so as not to interfere with moving around the balcony or doing work. Also consider how to wash such windows. The best option is tilt-and-turn sashes, which will be convenient to open when ventilation is needed.

Now get busy electrical work. Access to electricity on the loggia or balcony is mandatory, because in the evening you will need lighting, and working equipment will also need to be connected to power sources.

If you're creating a small work area, spotlights and one electrical outlet may be sufficient. Lay strobes or a cable channel from the apartment at the stage of repair.

To microclimate in working area was favorable, insulate the side walls, floor and ceiling. Use lightweight materials with low thermal conductivity, such as mineral wool, extruded polystyrene foam or foam paste. Fill the floor with a screed or add lags, and at the stage of insulation, perform hydro- and vapor barrier work. Be sure to check that all cracks and cracks are sealed.

Even with the full implementation of work on the insulation of the balcony and loggia, you will not be able to protect yourself from the cold one hundred percent. Therefore, you should think about heating the working area. For example, you can make underfloor heating or use electrical appliances.

Remember! Steam heating cannot be done on the balcony without obtaining permission from the authorized bodies.

You can also insulate your office with convectors and oil heaters. In stores you will find many suitable models with different heating features. In addition to ease of use, these devices have other advantages: they are safe and environmentally friendly, can be adjusted to create the most comfortable conditions, and oil heating elements can also be moved to any part of the balcony without special difficulties. But keep in mind that they are very energy-intensive.

Another suitable optioninfrared heaters, which are suspended panels for walls or ceilings. There are also varieties of IFC devices of an autonomous type that can be moved. These devices are economical and highly efficient, allow heat to be evenly distributed throughout the room, and contribute to the heating of people and objects, and not the air itself. They are easy to install without outside help, and you can always choose the design in accordance with the design features of the working space. Finishing work on the balcony: modern solutions

Next, we proceed to finish the office on the balcony. When choosing materials, you should be guided by their performance characteristics (such as strength, wear resistance, durability, etc.), as well as external characteristics, since you need to create an atmosphere conducive to work.

In the photo of the cabinets on the balcony you will see many different finishes. For example, drywall, lining, plaster or plastic can be used for these purposes.

Drywall is one of the most common options for finishing work in such areas. Its surface is plastered, painted or decorated with wallpaper. So you can create the appearance of a real office room with a cozy design.

You can also choose lining. It's ecological pure material with light weight. And thanks to the strict appearance it will be suitable for your home office, as it will not distract from the workflow.

Plastic finishes are popular due to the lightness of such coatings, the variety of designs, as well as the ease of installation. plastic materials can be fixed on anything and used not only for wall decoration, but also for ceiling decoration.

By the way, sandwich panels of different colors can also be used for the ceiling: they are light in weight, so they are easy to install, and also contribute to the thermal insulation of the room.

As for the floor, here you can use linoleum. Firstly, it is lightweight and fits without problems, especially since the floor area for finishing will be small. Secondly, you can choose the best option among the variety of linoleums in terms of thickness, color and texture. And some linoleums will create an imitation of parquet, so office cabinet in your home will look even more presentable.

Linoleum is inexpensive when compared with other finishes.

You can also opt for laminate flooring. It is more suitable for loggias and balconies with heating, as it has a density similar to heavy wood. It is a beautiful, wear-resistant and practical material.

As for the decoration of the wall on which the double-glazed windows are installed, here you can use horizontal or vertical blinds. They adjust the brightness natural light in the work area. You can also stop at roller blinds or other varieties that match the style of your office.

Choosing furniture and decor elements

The design of the balcony for the office is almost ready, and it remains only to think over the details. Let's start with the selection of furniture. The work area must have a table and a chair or a comfortable chair. Put a computer or laptop on the table.

If you plan to connect other office equipment, choose tables with convenient shelves and niches for everything you need. Above the work surface, you can equip shelves for folders, books, disks or documentation.

Advice: since there is not much space on the balcony, make a table to order. Some shelves or countertops can be pulled out to save space when the job is done.

The chair should also be comfortable and functional. Therefore, we recommend replacing the regular model with an office model with adjustable height and back position. Also in the work area will not interfere with the closet. To save space, make it transformable: for example, a model with a folding or sliding sash that will play the role of a coffee table would be an excellent option.

The design of the office on the balcony should set you up not only for work, but also for rest during breaks. In the opposite part of the balcony or loggia, you can equip a recreation area. Place a bench, chair or compact sofa, if desired, place a table for flowers or drinks.

Here you can also hang shelves for books, put a floor lamp, fix posters with motivational statements or photo frames. If this zone is arranged where the double-glazed window is located, facing the living room, also use part of the window sill to store decorative items.

Hang stylish curtains on the windows, and decorate the floor with a cozy, small, fleecy rug. Look at the photo of the cabinet design on the loggia and balcony to see how this room can be transformed due to small details.

When designing an office, be sure to plan not only the equipment, but also its color scheme. It is important that all elements are in harmony with each other. The textures of furniture and finishes should also match each other. We recommend opting for calm, work-tuning shades.

Advice. You should not choose colorful wallpapers and textiles with bright patterns: they will distract you from the workflow.

By the way, if you choose light colors for walls and furniture, you can visually expand the area of such a room.

That's all the features of arranging a personal office. By following a few simple procedures, you can get a cozy place to work, in which it will be pleasant to be even when you do not need to do office business.

Try to arrange this place in such a way that your taste and character are felt in detail - and then it will be even more comfortable for you to spend maximum time in this part of the apartment. And get ideas for inspiration from a photo of the design of study rooms on the loggia and balcony.
