When puttying the seams, try to ensure that there are no “stains” and other “snot” left on the view surface: it will be very difficult to remove them with a sandpaper and even a rasp, and any more powerful tool like a “grinder” with an abrasive wheel will easily cripple the drywall sheet itself .

For a primer, do not take alkyd mixtures: drywall will swell under them, outer sheet cardboard - flake off. It is better to use water-soluble types of primer.

How to stick a sickle

Another option is to seal the drywall sheathing completely with fiberglass canvas. It is also called "spider web".

As a rule, a canvas with a thickness of 0.3 mm is enough, but if you have a rough surface, cracks, then you need to take a canvas with a thickness of 0.5 mm. The spider web sticker will not only mask existing defects, but also hide future ones: for example, cracks that occur when a house shrinks.

Fiberglass is glued in the same way as wallpaper, but the glue is applied not to the canvas, but to the wall. I use Wellton special glue, but in its absence, regular PVA can also be used. Glue fiberglass canvases can be both "butt" and "overlap". This may be necessary if, for example, the edges of the cloth are damaged. In the latter case, do not press the 3-4 cm wide strips too tightly along the edges of the sheets to be glued.

After the main part of the panel is glued, run along and in the middle of these unglued strips with a sharp knife and separate the “overlapping” sections from the base. You will get a butt joint, along which you should walk well with a spatula so that it aligns and sticks to the base.

The gaps between the fiberglass sheets should also be puttied, after which it is already possible to apply paint.

For painting, it is best to choose water-based compositions. They come in trade exclusively in white, but by adding color you can give your coating any color.

Do not forget that water-based coatings lighten somewhat when dried. In addition, the paint can be either matte or glossy. The differences between them are fundamental: matte hides the defects of the painted surface, glossy, on the contrary, reveals. But if the soul lies in glamor, you will have to suffer, level the slightest villi and hairs on the skin!

Apply paint with a roller, in two or three layers. Moreover, the first layer - horizontal movements of the roller, the second - vertical.
