Before everyone who builds his house, sooner or later the question arises of choosing the right roofing material. If the budget is small, you usually have to consider options for roofing from corrugated bitumen sheets, slate or metal corrugated board. Those customers who are also interested in the aesthetics of the roof, choose more expensive and high-quality solutions: metal, bituminous or ceramic tiles. Each of them is good in its own way and has a number of advantages that we have already considered in the previous
articles. However, bituminous rolled tiles have been developed quite recently in Europe ...

This is another interesting product that can compete with all the materials described above in the near future. It is already produced in Russia, and this season it will also be on sale in Belarus. Consider rolled shingles in more detail and decide whether it will find application in the Belarusian private housing construction.

Production

The strength of the rolled carpet is given by a base made of reinforced polyester, on which a layer of bituminous binder is applied. The quality of the binder affects the durability of the material and ensures water resistance. roofing. To protect the material from ultraviolet radiation (as well as for aesthetic appeal), a layer of colored basalt dressing is applied on top of the material. As a result, the pattern of the resulting roof imitates natural or bituminous tiles.

Roll tiles were originally made from bitumen, which, during installation, was welded onto a prepared base. For this, the roofer used a gas burner, i. worked with an open flame. Given that the vast majority of systems pitched roofs made of wood, with this installation technology, the risk of fire increased significantly. Therefore, now all roll tiles are mounted without the use of an open flame. It is also not always possible to accurately roll out the material with a significant roof slope (50-60 degrees) at high altitude. To simplify this task, improved bitumen is now applied on the lower surface of the tile, which, during installation, adheres itself to the prepared base after removing the protective film. This "know-how" allows you to install the roof on your own without the involvement of specialists, which significantly saves costs for the overall estimate.

Advantages

Since the rolled tile is made of bitumen, it does not rust during operation, like metal. The heat resistance of the material is 100 ° C - it will withstand any heat. Basalt coating allows you to create a rough surface that prevents snow from falling off the roof. In general, the combination of a bituminous base and basalt topping protects the rolled tiles from fading, moreover, such a roof does not make noise during rain. The rolls are easy to carry and easy to mount on the roof yourself and with virtually no waste. A small number of seams increases the reliability of the solution. After all, roll tiles are suitable not only for new construction, but also for renovations. existing roof for any roof slopes from 3° to negative angles.

Mounting

The basis for laying rolled tiles can be solid plank flooring or oriented strand boards, laid along a sparse crate on the rafters. If the thickness of the OSB sheet is 9 mm, the boards must be laid with a step of at least 300 mm in the axes. If the step is less frequent, over time this can lead to the formation of a deflection of the base and subsequent deformation of the roof. Sheets are mounted in checkerboard pattern while leaving a minimum gap between the plates to compensate for the possible linear expansion of wood.

Cornices and gables are best done with metal strips that protect the extreme elements of the base. The planks are fastened with wide-head galvanized roofing nails with a 200 mm pitch in a zigzag pattern - so that all nails are covered with ordinary roofing material.

Before laying the material, the substrate must be cleaned of debris / dust and primed with a water-based bituminous primer (preferably). This primer dries faster and does not harm the environment. The length of the material in a roll is 8 m, which allows most roofs to be made without end seams, orienting the rolls perpendicular to the ridge. Having tried on the material in place, the roll rolls to the middle, and the protective film is cut with a knife. Evenly pulling the film towards itself, the roll rolls along the slope. When laying the material, it should be pressed to the base with the help of improvised means or special pressure rollers.

When installing the first slope, the tile roll is thrown over the ridge by 200 mm and in this section the sheet is nailed to the base with roofing nails in 15 cm increments or self-tapping screws under a wide washer. The second slope is also made with an additional overlap of 200 mm, which is laid along the first slope. In this case, when designing the ridge, it will be necessary to install a separate strip along the section of the ridge 400-500 mm wide, covering the overlaps of the carpets and the places where the nails are attached.

The next roll is laid on the previous one, with a side overlap of 100 mm - in the area where the self-adhesive strip of the first "row" is located. In cases where the length of the slope exceeds 8 m, it is possible to join the end seam. When trimming rolls, the place of the future seam should be oriented in the area of dark dressing, if possible, avoiding straight line cutting and repeating the pattern.

When making a valley, in order to increase reliability, it is recommended to additionally lay a layer of lining carpet 1 m wide along the junction of adjacent slopes. Rolls of tiles from one slope are brought to another slope by at least 350-500 mm, while it is important that the bending point is tightly rolled. Then the rolls from the second slope cover the overlap and cut along the axis of the valley with a small indent of 5-7 cm. To seal the overlap, it is recommended to additionally apply a thin layer of bituminous mastic over the area to be glued. When choosing the first side of the installation, the angle of inclination of the valley and the expected amount of precipitation from each slope should be taken into account.

When making an junction with the vertical, the rolled carpet is brought up to a height of at least 300 mm to protect it from spring snowmelt. His top part it is fixed with the help of a clamping rail, which, if possible, is inserted into a special strobe and sealed. On the slope, the junction starts at least 100 mm, while the area of \u200b\u200bgluing with an ordinary carpet must be additionally smeared with mastic. At the transition point, a rail is usually made, which creates an inclined side for a smoother transition of the material to the slope.

tunneling chimney performed using special patterns made from an ordinary carpet. The base of the communication pipes is sealed with a rubber seal for the mounting opening, the skirt of which is glued to the base with bituminous mastic. A strip of carpet is laid on the flange, also glued to it with bituminous mastic. Above rubber compressor tightened with a metal clamp.

Conclusion: The operations described above will allow you to perform high-quality bituminous roof tiles on roofs of almost any geometry. Due to the ease of installation and the reliability of bitumen, tiles are guaranteed to serve you for more than twenty years. And the original appearance and low cost will surely make this roofing material a hit of this season.

TechnoNIKOL is Russian manufacturer tiles, which produces soft roofing materials for flat and pitched roofs under the brand of the same name.

Their quality is evidenced by the presence ISO 9001 certificate, it is issued only to trusted manufacturers.

TechnoNIKOL tiles are presented in several varieties, each of which is suitable for certain types of roofs.

Design roll roofing TechnoNIKOL in in general terms repeat the structure of other brands: the base consists of various types of fiberglass, it is covered on both sides with bituminous layers, a coating is applied to them. TechnoNIKOL products are classified by price values ( economy, standard, business, premium) and the constituent materials.

Economy:

  • Stekloizol. This roll material consists of a glass fiber base, bitumen and filler, the role of the protective layer is performed by a polymer film.
  • Bikrost. roll material based on fiberglass or fiberglass. The surface layer is made of oxidized bitumen.

Standard:

  • linocrom. It contains a polyester fiber base, the binder is made of bitumen modified with polyolefin additives.
  • bipol. The structure of the material is similar to Linokrom with the difference that the bottom of the Bipole is additionally covered with a polymer film, and a mineral film is applied on top of it.
  • Bicroelast similar in structure to Linokrom and Bipol, but the binder layer here is made in a special way, which gives it high heat resistance.

Business:

  • Uniflex. The base is polyester coated with polymeric bitumen.
  • Ecoflex. Plastoelastomeric material suitable for both roofing and waterproofing.
  • Technoelast. Differs in existence of additional protection from artificial rubber.
  • Vestoplast. Here, atactic polypropylene is added to the bitumen, which makes the material very reliable.

Roof TechnoNIKOL

Soft tile technonikol (for example) for pitched roofs also subdivided into types, they differ in patterns (type of cutting) and the number of layers, while materials of manufacture remain the same: based on fiberglass, the coating is made of basalt granulate.

  1. Single layer: Samba, Foxrot, Rumba, Tango, Modern, Quadrille, Flamenco, Accord, Sonata.
  2. Double layer: Western, Jazz, Country, Ranch.
  3. Three-layer: Continent. Differs in incredible durability - the manufacturer claims a minimum service life of 60 years.

Installation of roll and membrane roofing

Installation flat roof is simplified by the fact that here no need to build truss system - the walls of the building act as the basis for the roof. No need to give special attention wind protection, since the windage of a flat structure is minimal.

Roof installation begins with the installation of a base made of metal or concrete. Crushed stone and expanded clay are poured on it to ensure the natural slope of the structure.

If the insulation is not strong enough, need to install an additional screed which will protect it from deformation. Last layer the roof is covered with TechnoNIKOL coating, which acts as a waterproofing and finishing layer that gives the roof an aesthetic appearance.

To prevent liquid from accumulating on the roof, building a drainage system. In small buildings individual use mounted external gutters, consisting of funnels. Funnels are installed in places of the greatest slope of the roof.

Flexible tile TechnoNIKOL: installation and installation

The device of a soft roof and the technology of laying technonicol is practically no different from other types of flexible tiles. The arrangement of a pitched roof begins with the installation of rafters. The distance between the rafters should be 60-100 centimeters. Exact value in this range is selected taking into account the dimensions thermal insulation material, which will fit into the space between the rafters.

Let's go directly to installation instructions soft roof ():

  1. On the truss system using construction stapler waterproofing layer is installed. Although the TechnoNIKOL soft tile itself is quite moisture resistant, a separate layer of waterproofing will not be superfluous, especially in climatic zones with frequent rainfall.
  2. Over waterproofing and rafters crate is laid. The step of the crate (the distance between the parallel bars) depends on the tiles. The wavelength can vary significantly for each type of material.
  3. At the intersections of slopes two are installed on the crate additional boards - the roof ridge will be attached to them.
  4. Fits on the entire plane of the crate waterproof plywood or OSB boards . Tiles are mounted on it in the direction from the cornice row to the ridge.
  5. The sheets are attached to the lining coating on an adhesive surface, and are interconnected with nails. The tile adjacent to the ridge is installed last.

When performing work, it is necessary to ensure natural ventilation inner space roofs. To do this, a gap is left between the layers of the cake, and a through space is provided inside the ridge.

Additional elements

After installation of tiles fittings are installed. Most of them are produced by TechnoNIKOL.

  1. The TechnoNIKOL cornice strip performs the function of protecting the crate from moisture. She is attached to the front board on the lower edges of the roof slopes.
  2. The end plate performs the function of wind protection and is installed on the side edges of the roof.

TechnoNIKOL produces and ventilation elements. The technonikol ridge aerator for soft roofing allows for air exchange in the roof even at large.

To install the aerator, you need to leave free space under the ridge and attach to the crate two additional boards- on them this element will be installed. After installing the aerator, tile sheets are installed on top of it.

Due to the fact that TechnoNIKOL produces both the main and additional elements of the roof, it is possible to use products from only one manufacturer when installing the roof, and this is more convenient and reliable.

Due to what properties Roll tile allows you to save family budget– we understand together with the technical specialist of the direction "Roll materials for cottage and low-rise construction" TECHNONICOL Alexey Vorobyov.

Pretty or affordable? You don't have to choose anymore!

During the construction of a modern country house great attention is paid to the choice of roofing material. After all, it is the roof that completes and largely determines the architectural image of the building, not to mention the importance of its contribution to providing protection from rain, snow, hail and other environmental influences.

Just a few decades ago, the dilemma of which material to choose rarely faced the consumer - they covered what was available. Most often slate or metal sheets. There are a wide variety of materials on the market today. different types and stamps. The most significant criteria that guide the consumer in all this diversity are price and aesthetics.

Those for whom beauty comes first, most often choose flexible, natural or metal tiles. At the same time, for a large category of consumers, the determining criterion is cost. They prefer more affordable options: corrugated bituminous sheets, slate or metal corrugated board.

Often the choice is not so simple. People are not always ready to invest heavily, for example, in the roof country house, but at the same time, its appearance is not the last value. new material, TECHNONICOL roll tiles take into account both criteria. bright and original roof it will cost the price of systems with economy class materials - slate or bituminous corrugated sheet.

Alexey Vorobyov: “First of all, savings when choosing TECHNONICOL roll tiles are due to the cost of the material itself. Roll tiles are approximately in the same price range as slate or bituminous corrugated sheets. At the same time, the appearance of such a roof can advantageously distinguish the building from neighboring ones. Several collections of material differing in pattern and color are available for selection. They are designed with real consumer preferences in mind.”

"... And no nails!"

TECHNONICOL roll tiles are a self-adhesive product. In contrast to the deposited bituminous materials, whose laying technology involves the use of an open flame, this installation method is excellent for a wooden base (typical for most pitched roofs). It is also attractive in comparison with the mechanical method of fastening - when laying rolled tiles, there is no need to calculate wind loads, in addition, the speed of its laying is higher. Roofing nails, contrary to the chosen title of the section, will still be required. But in a small amount - to fix the carpet at the seams to the base of the roof.

Alexey Vorobyov: “TECHNONICOL roll tiles allow you to save not only on the upper waterproofing layer, but also on other components of the “pie”. In addition to minimizing the consumption of roofing nails. The material is laid on a flat base in one layer.

self roofer

In addition to the price of materials, the cost of the roof also includes the payment for the services of roofers. Depending on the complexity of the work, this component can be very noticeable. It is not for nothing that TECHNONICOL roll tiles are widely represented in DIY stores. With the help of the manufacturer's instructions, even the owner of the house himself, taking friends or relatives as assistants, will cope with its installation.

How to do it right, you can learn from the detailed video instructions:

If, nevertheless, a decision is made to turn to specialists (following the fair morality of Krylov’s fable that boots should be sewn by a shoemaker, and pies should be baked by a pie-maker), due to the high speed and ease of installation, the cost of work will still be relatively low.

Alexey Vorobyov: « A special self-adhesive layer allows, after the removal of the protective film, to quickly and reliably fix the rolled tiles on the surface - a flat, hard, moisture-resistant base. Works must be carried out exclusively at positive air temperature - from + 10˚Cand above, when installing TECHNONICOL roll tiles at temperatures from +10 to +15°C, it is recommended to treat the base with a primer. In general, to achieve a predictably reliable result, it is important to follow the instructions and follow all the recommendations of the manufacturer. ».

The principle of non-waste production

When working with TECHNONICOL roll tiles, you can achieve a waste-free process. Almost every piece of material is suitable for use on the roof surface without residue. It is not difficult to select a pattern when mounting the material.

Alexey Vorobyov: « The average consumption of TECHNONICOL roll tiles is 15−17% (for comparison, the consumption of metal tiles can reach up to 25−30%). Already at the stage of acquiring the material, you can significantly save on its volume.

TECHNONICOL Roll Tiles is a "smart" technology that allows you to save money without sacrificing quality. For at least 20 years, a roof with such a carpet will be guaranteed to protect the house, while maintaining its aesthetics. The brightness of colors during this period can only fade from dust, but this problem is easily solved with a regular hose with water.».

Due to the high potential in terms of the implementation of design projects on personal plot and affordability, rolled tiles have become very popular, including when constructing roofs for gazebos, verandas, and wells.

Taking into account the growing demand, the manufacturer brought to the market another product specially designed for "light" buildings - MINI Roll tiles in several color solutions. Convenient format - roll width 0.5 m, and footage - 2.5 sq.m. increase the wastelessness of the construction process. And this is not only cost savings, but also the environmental friendliness of the process.

Rolled roof tiles are one of the new types of materials for low-rise construction as a modern alternative to guided roofing. She is fastened in a safe way without the use of burners, therefore it can be used at industrial non-high-rise facilities.

Basic moments

The bottom layer of a rolled tile is self-adhesive. Building material is laid without using adhesive composition. But for tightness, it is pierced with roofing nails with a wide hat.

Fastening principle: nails are nailed along the lower edge in a checkerboard pattern, retreating from the edge of 20 mm and 40 mm alternately with a step of 60 mm.

Designing complex areas

Before installing the roll tiles, you need to lay the underlayment carpet. For this, a canvas 1 meter wide is best suited. With an average construction budget, you can use building materials only for the valley. The canvas is fixed along the edges to the base of the roof with nails in increments of 200 mm. To achieve tightness, the lining material is smeared with mastic before laying the tiles. It is mounted on a valley with an overlap of 150 mm. The remains are cut off, the edges are smeared with mastic.

Mounting horizontally and vertically

Laying the rolled canvas horizontally is made from the eaves towards the pediment. Vertical installation is carried out from the end cornice. Pay attention that the adhesive bottom edge gets on the metal drip of the roof. The upper edge of the canvas is fastened with nails. The bottom layer has a protective film, which must be removed gradually during the unfolding of the roll, and not all at once. The adhesive edge of each subsequent roll is mounted with an overlap on the other.

Mounting on slopes

When laying a roll roof on the first slope on a ridge, the sheet is spread with a margin of 200 mm. The resulting seam is glued with mastic. To decorate the internal and make them more durable, slats are used. The final fixation is made using metal strips and a flange.

The rolled tile is used for installation on a pitched roof. It has not only monochromatic shades, but also original composition brickwork. Now not only the walls, but also the roof can be "brick"!
