Site arrangement

Sometimes even seemingly simple tasks are confusing. For example: hang a mirror on the wall of a bathroom, hallway, dressing room, on a cabinet door. How if there is no frame or any other fasteners? In fact, attaching a mirror to a wall is not a difficult task. If you know the ways and methods.

Ways of attaching mirrors to the wall

During the repair or arrangement of an apartment or house, sometimes it is necessary to fix a mirror on which there is no frame. Recently, this is the most popular design method. In general, there are five mounting methods. They are chosen depending on the type of base on which the installation will be carried out, and the area of the mirror surface. You can hang the mirror in the following ways:

  • Glue to the surface with a special glue or adhesive sealant.
  • Install special holders on the wall.
  • Drill holes in the mirror, fix through them to the wall or furniture door. You can use ordinary self-tapping screws, but there are special fasteners with plastic expansion joints, which do not allow the fasteners to be "pulled over" and prevent cracks from appearing.
  • Install a decorative profile on the wall, lower the lower edge of the mirror into it, fix the upper one in one of the ways described above.
  • Hanging on special tape (3M mounting tape).
  • Mounting the mirror to the wall without drilling is possible only with glue or special double-sided tape. This may be required when installing on plasterboard wall, partitions made of foam blocks, other materials with low bearing capacity. This method will come in handy if you do not want to spoil the tiles, furniture door, etc. All other methods are related to hole drilling.

At what height

The installation height of the mirrors depends on the installation location and its purpose. In the bathroom, it is hung so that the middle of the mirror surface is at eye level. The growth of residents may be different, but on average, the center is at a height of 160-165 cm from the floor.

When hung in the hallway, mirrors are usually installed long and narrow. In them, a person should be displayed at full height. To do this, its upper edge should be slightly above the head - 3-5 cm. When hanging on cabinet doors, its upper edge is used as a guide. If the cabinet is tall, the mirror is also fixed a few centimeters above the head.

Mirror holders and installation methods

If after a while the mirror has to be removed / replaced, it is more convenient to install it on the holders. They are of two types:

  • end-to-end;
  • blind (ordinary).

The non-pass-through mirror holders can be mounted on a wall or door. Then the edge of the mirror is inserted into them. They can be attached almost close to the plane of the wall / door, or they can be carried out. In the second version, a gap from 5 mm to several centimeters remains between the wall and the mirror. This saves the need for installation on uneven walls.

When using conventional holders, they are placed two at the bottom (if the mirror is small, you can put one at the bottom - in the center), two on the sides. When installing, the dimensions must be carefully measured and set aside. The lower holders are located strictly horizontally at an equal distance from the edge, and the side ones are placed on so that the edge of the mirror passes easily into their grooves. Moreover, it should not fall out even with the maximum shift to one side. Typically, the mounting distance of the holders should be 2-3 mm wider than the mirror, but there may be options depending on the design of the holders.

Another option is two at the top and two at the bottom. In this case, the distance between the fasteners is also a couple of millimeters greater than the height of the mirror.

Through holders are used if there are holes for fasteners in the mirror surface. They can be made in a glass workshop. The holders themselves are ordinary self-tapping screws or dowel-nails with plastic overlays and decorative caps different forms and diameters.

They are installed as usual dowels. First, the holes for the installation are marked (attach the mirror to the wall, make marks with a pencil or marker), holes are drilled, plastic plugs are installed for the dowels. Then the fastener with the plastic plug on is threaded through the hole in the mirror surface and installed in place. The final stage is the installation of decorative overlays.

Mounting the mirror to the wall with glue

Fasteners are not easy to fit into every wall. For example, to hang something on plasterboard partitions or walls, you must either install fasteners in the place where the profile passes, or use special butterfly dowels. Each of these mounts can hold about 20 kg. This is enough for mounting a mirror, but not everyone wants to punch holes in the wall. If the walls are flat or the mirror needs to be installed on the door of a cabinet or other piece of furniture, it can be glued.

Which glue to choose

For installation, use a special glue, which is called "mirror glue". They differ from common topics that do not damage the amalgam coating. An important point consists in the fact that the composition must have good adhesion (adhesion) to the surface on which you are going to glue the mirror.

Here are some of the names of popular formulations:

There can still be many compositions, the most common ones have been described. They "set" quickly, but the final drying takes place only after 72 hours or more.

What else can you glue on

Neutral silicone sealant is suitable for bonding mirrors. It has excellent adhesion and does not damage the amalgam. In terms of cost, mirror glue and silicone sealant are about the same, the setting time is also about the same. When choosing, be careful: acidic (acetic) silicone sealants destroy the amalgam. Therefore, carefully read the composition and scope.

Any composition is suitable, but for attaching the mirror to the bathroom wall, it is better to take it with anti-fungal additives. This will prevent the development of fungi and mold. Aquarium silicone can also be used in wet areas. It is always made on the basis of silicone, neutral, fungi and mold do not appear on it. It can be slightly more expensive than regular sanitary silicone.

Bonding technology

Attaching the mirror to the wall with glue is a simple procedure, but there are some points you need to know. Before gluing, the surface on which the mirror will be glued and its back side are cleaned of dirt, dust, degreased (wipe with alcohol, wash with soapy water and dry). A strip of glue is applied to the mirror with a "snake" and pressed against the wall at the installation site. The adhesive can also be applied pointwise - in checkerboard on all surfaces. Such fastening of the mirror to the wall is reliable, but if it is necessary to replace it, it will need to be broken, the glue should be cleaned off with a spatula, and a new one should be installed.

To hang it straight, you can first draw a line on the wall along which to level the bottom or side edge.

When gluing mirrors large area the technology changes a little. Glue is applied to a leveled, primed and dried wall, spread over the entire surface with a spatula with a very fine tooth. Such spatulas are used for. They should not be confused with those that are used to apply glue to tiles. They have too long distance between the teeth. A mirror is glued to the prepared surface. It is carried and held by means of special handles with suction cups.

Bonding procedure

Mounting the mirror to the wall with glue is considered reliable. This method is used in the bathroom, if it is necessary that the entire finish is in the same plane. In this case, the tiles are laid out first, then the mirror is installed. In this case, when installing the lower edge on the tile, you must put a gasket several millimeters thick. The same gap remains on the sides and bottom. After the glue dries, it fills up silicone sealant or the grout that was used to join the joints. This gap will compensate for the difference in thermal expansion of materials - it is different for ceramics and glass. Also, this gap will prevent cracks from shrinking and moving the house.

Since the glue does not freeze immediately, the mirror may start to slide down the wall. I don't really want to hold it for 15-20 minutes, therefore, measures are being taken to pre-fix it. To do this, before applying the glue, several pieces of double-sided tape are glued to the back side. It will hold the mirror until the glue dries.

Second option

The second option is to glue a bar on the wall, which will serve as an emphasis. Choose a glue that can be easily removed from the surface. If possible, you can tighten a few screws, etc. In general, any stop that will hold a hard piece of glass (1 square meter 4 mm thick weighs 10 kg) on site.

How to glue a mirror onto double-sided tape

Small and lightweight mirrors can be glued onto special double-sided 3M tape. Foamed polyethylene or polyurethane is coated with adhesive on both sides. The foam base compensates for some unevenness in the base, and also serves to cushion the movement of the base. The thickness of the base (tape) can be from 0.8 mm to 1.6 mm, the width of the tape is 6-25 mm.

Pieces of tape are glued to a clean, fat-free base. It is distributed evenly over the entire surface. It is not worth sticking around the perimeter, it is better to glue all the pieces vertically in a checkerboard pattern at a distance of about 10-12 cm from each other. The consumption of the tape depends on the area of the mirror; the experimental data are given in the table.

The final touch is to remove the protective film from the pasted pieces and install the mirror in its intended place. The manufacturers of this type of tape give a guarantee for 10,000 adhesives, so if you install it incorrectly, you can fix it.

Fastening the mirror to the wall using 3M adhesive tape is reliable - this material is used in industry for gluing smooth fragments. This compound is not afraid of ultraviolet radiation, has a wide temperature range of use (from -40 ° C to + 90 ° C). The adhesive has excellent water resistance. The only limitation is that this adhesive tape sticks much worse on porous surfaces. Nose ceramic tiles, laminated or excellent adhesion. If in doubt, you can conduct an experiment - stick something heavy, then try to tear it off. Based on the results, you will draw a conclusion yourself.

Good all the time of the day! It is necessary to glue the glass with photo printing on the facade of the chipboard as in the picture, who knows what glue to glue on and what technological gaps and indents should be?

what glue to glue on

Option:
Double-sided tape 3M PT 1100.
Thickness 0.8 mm.
Check the fastness of the paint. There was a case when the paint (with tape) peeled off the glass.
Very strong hold!

Be sure to accurately position the glass!
After installation, moving is unrealistic.

Zervit, tell me, did you glue with such tapes, I heard that after a while glass falls off from such tapes. it is not easy in itself ...

17.06.2012, 22:31

maybe a straight line, it doesn't matter, just to make it clear what I want to achieve, imagine that there is glass glued there.
if we talk about the film on the glass - then this is a 1mm cut along the contour, those you have not an ideal facade, + after 2-3 years the film will shrink by 1 mm, with frame facades this is insignificant, with direct sticking it matters.
Further, if you apply direct printing on glass and glue directly, then nuances are also possible, and why if you can print directly, varnish and that's it? Work out the nuances of your work, take into account the pitfalls.

I'm talking about the film, in the sense of a 1mm undercut. Do you mean an undercut along the perimeter of the workpiece after the Euro edge?

if you roll by hand, then yes about it

And when you open the drawer at the end of the facade, you will not see the gap between the glass and the chipboard?

0.8 mm, will outlive any customer.

V in this case, when gluing to Triem tape, it is important that the tape itself will be glued to the seal, and not to the glass, therefore, the paint layer may come off, a larger gluing area is needed than usual (load distribution over the area), which is a pretty penny. And the adhesive tape itself can show through stains through the print (especially on a contrasting facade). According to the instructions for it, glue closed loop along the perimeter it is impossible, it is necessary to glue in segments. Since this is a kitchen, it is possible to heat the facades near the oven and above the stove (especially gas), the glue on the scotch tape can become plastic, while the glass is displaced from its place (in my practice there was a case when in a holiday home they overdid it with heating in rooms and mirrors shifted by 12-15 mm, but did not disappear).
Due to the above, I would recommend transparent silicone.
The only drawback of using silicone (as opposed to tape) is the impossibility of dismantling the glass. But in your case, when replacing one glass, you still do not get into Color tone and the format of the fragment when re-printing, so all glasses will have to be changed and the possibility of dismantling does not matter.

If printing on film, then you should not use scotch tape, or silicone - it will cut the film - this is the experience of furniture makers who installed in this way kitchen aprons, the film will be squeezed in these places.
you need a larger than usual bonding area (load distribution over the area), this can help.

when replacing one glass, it still does not fall into the color tone and the format of the fragment when reprinting, I do not agree with this, when using a good printer and original ink, there will be no problems. I calmly repeat the orders of a year ago.

I do not agree with this, if you use a good printer and original ink, there will be no problems. I calmly repeat the orders of a year ago.
I'm not talking about that a little, it happens that the original sometimes fades, and not always uniformly.
And it is difficult to repeat a print fragment so that the drawing on new part with the rest.

Got a question; do you have to put the sash in the press? If you stick on silicone (which one)? for even gluing? or on scotch tape?
But for some reason I don’t trust the tape.
At home about 15 years ago, I glued the remnants of mirrors, 20 pieces measuring 150x150mm. on the chipboard door, scotch tape around the perimeter. Gradually everyone fell (within a year), except for those in which he drilled a hole and put a handle.

Pay attention to the fact that 3M scotch tape is recommended, nothing will fly off from it, choose high-quality materials.
We print on a straight line on the glass, then we glue it with an oracle, after 72 hours we glue it on the facade with 3m adhesive tape, everything holds, but we try to dissuade the customer from such facades, an aluminum frame is better, more reliable.

We also have direct application of photo printing on the material, then we blow it in a paint brushes with a white base color and after drying we use MIROBOND for gluing.

We must glue the oracle. Acrylic DOES NOT BEAT, even beat with a frying pan. Even if it falls off the sash, it won't hurt anyone like glass! And with an aluminum frame it turns out to be more expensive, and it is more difficult to work with it.

What if the frying pan falls? Or the owner of the kitchen will bang his head against the wall, then and what better than walls make? 😀
Well, you can argue as much as you like, but my personal opinion is that the picture on the glass looks prettier! The colors are deeper and richer, and of course it is very easy for the hostess to take care of the glass!

Our clients glue glass on silicone, everything does not fall off, glues both on walls and furniture facades, UV printing, we cover the back with white acrylic paint special for glass. It seems to me that acrylic is better for the kitchen, in terms of safety, although the image looks richer on glass.
There were precedents on the aprons, they printed on 4-ke, over time it burst, maybe due to the fact that the walls in the houses are breathing, I don't know.
In general, you can immediately print on the facade and under varnish. It also looks good.

In this article, we will look at how to glue a mirror on laminated chipboard.

Let's say you want to glue a mirror onto a cabinet door. The procedure is as follows:

1. Place the mirror on the chipboard surface and draw a pencil around it. We get a marking line.

2. Wipe the surface of the chipboard, on which we will glue the mirror with a solvent to degrease it.

3. We also process the inner surface of the mirror.

4. For gluing, I usually use a special mirror adhesive. Some of my colleagues use silicone for this purpose. According to their reviews, it is quite reliable. However, I myself do not put mirrors on silicone and I cannot give a personal guarantee. When using a special glue, the mirror sticks to the chipboard surface tightly. Tested not once. You just need to strictly follow the instructions printed on the side surface of the container with glue. It is convenient to use a construction gun for this operation.

Attention! Do not use liquid nails for gluing mastic. These mastics, over time, can ruin the amalgam of the mirror!

Also do not use for this operation. two sided tape... It is not reliable. Especially for heavy vertical mirrors. This type of decal is prone to slipping, tape tearing, and mirror fall. This happens especially often on warm visits or in summer. Two-sided tape does not "flow". It breaks off immediately. And if the mirror falls, it can cause injury!

Apply glue to the inner surface of the mirror in stripes, as shown in the photo. There is no need to smear the entire surface. Do not apply too thick strips close to the edge so that the glue does not crawl out of the mirror when you put it on the chipboard. Avoid getting glue or silicone on clothing. It is very difficult to wash it afterwards.

5. Install the longest surface of the mirror on the previously obtained marking line on the chipboard.

Since the first mirror shop opened in Nuremberg for the first time in the world in 1373, mirrors have become inseparable companions of man. However, in those distant times, only wealthy people could afford mirrors. At the same time, the manufacturing technology of mirrors, and hence their reflective properties, were somewhat lame. Now it is nothing more than consumer goods, while with excellent reflectivity, which, moreover, everyone can afford. There would only be a desire.

The importance of mirrors in our life and their amazing properties

Indeed, the use of mirrors can hardly be overestimated. They are used in our everyday life, in science, medicine, optics, etc. Without them, the world would be different. But we will not fall into a kind of paranoia about their amazing properties, because in fact what we use today is deserved by our progress. And if so, then the everyday unconscious use of mirrors has already become our norm. In our apartment, you can often find more than one mirror: in the bathroom, in the corridor, in the wardrobe. Moreover, all these mirrors are somehow fixed in place. Here, due to the fact that our site is, first of all, construction topics, our professional interest is already flaring up. How, after all, is the mounting of mirrors carried out in various variations, be it a tile, a wall, a chipboard? It is this topic that our article will be devoted to, on how to fix a mirror without a frame on various surfaces.

Mounting methods for mirrors

Despite the fact that in the previous paragraph of our article we highlighted the types of surfaces to which the mirror can be attached. Here it is also necessary to pay attention to possible way attachments to them. What could be more relevant. And if we talk about these very ways of attaching mirrors, then there are essentially three of them:

With the help of mounting double-sided tape;
- with glue. Often in this case, liquid nails are used;
- mechanical method mirror mounts.

It is about these all methods of mounting mirrors, and about the possibility of using each of them for a specific surface, which we will discuss further. In this case, we will give specific examples.

How to secure a mirror with double-sided adhesive tape

The first and simplest is the use of mounting double-sided tape. This material began to be used not so long ago. Moreover, for attaching everything in a row, including mirrors. However, it has its own but, conditions and restrictions.
First, the double-sided tape must be foamed. That is, to have a certain thickness of 0.8 - 2 mm. This is necessary in order to compensate and smooth out irregularities. In this case, the thickness of the tape should be approximately twice as large as these very irregularities on the surface to which we attach the mirror. Although it is difficult to determine, but still ...
Second, must be respected technological process mounting a mirror. In order not to be unfounded, we will bring specific example mounting the mirror on fibreboard... Typically, these boards are used to make furniture.
Before proceeding to the description of the mirror installation process, it is necessary to say about the tape used, as well as about the installation conditions. Mounting tape for mounting mirrors can be used in the temperature range from +10 to + 25 degrees. Lower or higher temperatures will not adhere properly to the surface. For installation, it is better to take a proven high-quality tape, for example, from ZM. This could be:

9508W (polyethylene base, 0.8 mm thick);
- 4492 (polyethylene base, 0.8 mm thick);
- 4032 (polyurethane base, 0.8 mm thick);
- 4026 (base polyurethane, thickness 1.6 mm).

The consumption of the tape is taken at the rate of 60 square centimeters per 1 kg of weight. Provided that the mirror will hang vertically, and not on the ceiling or at a slope. To make it easier for you to navigate the consumption, you can take a look at the table. It shows the ratio of tape consumption depending on its thickness, length and weight of the mirror.

Now directly to action. The back surface of the mirror and fiberboard, on which the mirror will be glued, must be cleaned using a rag and solvent (isopropanol, hexane). The use of other solvents for cleaning may affect the adhesion between the tape and the material to be bonded.

Now we glue the strips of tape. The stripes should be located pointwise, that is, along the edge of the mirror, while being evenly distributed over the surface.

This is necessary in order to compensate for surface irregularities that may be in the space between the points of attachment of the tape on the surface of the mirror. The figure, although shown and exaggerated, is quite true what we mean.

Trying on the mirror in place, while the protective film has not yet been removed from the mounting tape. We make markings in order to put the mirror in place the first time, since it will not work afterwards to move it.
Next, you need to remove the protective film from the mounting tape and attach the mirror to the surface. The glue on the mounting tape should be seized when the mirror is horizontal. If possible, you can load the mirror evenly with evenly distributed objects over it. At the very least, it is imperative to click on the mirror. After a few hours, the fiberboard with the mirror already fixed on it can be used for the production of furniture.

This method of mounting a mirror can also be used for existing furniture, that is, when the mounting tape is seized vertically. In this case, the consumption of the mounting tape will increase by 20 percent.
Now about the possibility of using mounting tape for other surfaces and materials. Adhesive tape can be used, and accordingly, the mirror can be attached to metals and metallized surfaces, most plastics (ABS plastic, polycarbonates, polyvinyl chloride, polyacrylates, polyesters), glass, ceramics, painted, primed and varnished materials, processed wood, laminated chipboard.
Cannot be used for silicone and rubber coatings, polyethylene, polypropylene, teflon, plasticized polyvinyl chloride, as well as non-primed concrete or fiberboard surfaces or if the surface is prone to delamination. What and why we think is clear even without our explanations.
Now about the second option for mounting the mirror, when it is attached with glue.

How to fix a mirror with glue (sealant)

Again, not to talk about something surreal. Here is a specific example that can be used for other cases when a mirror is glued with glue. In our case, the mirror will be glued to the door. But first, as always, about the materials used, that is, about the glue used. For use, a non-aggressive composition is suitable, such that will not react with a primer and amalgam on the mirror. This is important so as not to spoil appearance mirrors on the front side. Typically, acrylic adhesive, essentially an acrylic sealant, is ideal for this. It can be purchased in pistol tubes. Accordingly, all conditions of use of the sealant must comply with the requirements on its packaging.
Now about the process of mounting the mirror with glue. If possible, it is necessary to bring the surface on which the mirror will be glued to a horizontal position. In our case, we remove the door and put it on the floor.

Trying on where the mirror will be located, and making the markup.

Now we apply the sealant, it can be pointwise, it can be in the form of stripes. Do not put a lot of glue in one place, spread it evenly over the entire surface. You should also not apply glue to the edges of the mirror installation area, so as not to squeeze it out when laying the mirror out.

We put the mirror on the door, after applying glue, and wait until the sealant hardens.

We attach it to the same acrylic sealant as the mirror, fix it with tape until the glue dries.

Usually the glue dries for about a day.

Then we remove the tape, and you can hang the door in place.

Actually, this option can also be used for other options, when the mirror is glued to the wall. But in this case, it will be necessary to hold the mirror until the sealant dries. This can be done using mounting tape, that is, in the way that we talked about in the previous paragraph.

As a result, the mirror will be fixed on mounting tape and glue. This is important when the assembly tape may not cope with its tasks. Let's say in the bathroom, where it is humid and sometimes hot. Also, if it is a primed wall made of concrete or drywall, then it is better to use a sealant and "insure" with tape while it dries.
Now about last way mirror mounts, about mechanical mountings.

How to mount a mirror using mechanical mounts

It should be noted that today construction market There are many accessories, fittings and fittings to use as mirror mounts. Just look at the photo.

We will give just one example, using an attachment in the form of dowels, with decorative caps. All other options for fastening with mechanical fasteners will be similar. Unless the mounts themselves will differ slightly.
Initially, we attach the mirror to the wall and make markings where the fasteners will be installed and how the mirror will be installed. Then we remove the mirror to the side.

In order to drill a hole of the required depth, we use adhesive tape, which we wind on the drill.

So it will be seen to what depth to drill the wall for the dowel. We drill holes.

We insert the dowels into the wall.

We install plastic dampers on the mirror from the back. In fact, these are washers for self-tapping screws on the other side of the mirror. They are necessary to compensate for the force of the fastener when tightening it, and to avoid breakage of the mirror.
Now we put the mirror in place and screw in the screws.

We put a hat on top of the screws.

That's all - the mirror is fixed. As you can see, this option is not so difficult and quite acceptable.

Let's summarize how to fix a mirror without a frame on the wall, on the wall of the cabinet, on the tile

Summing up, we can say that there are at least three main options for fixing the mirrors, using mounting tape, glue and fasteners. And also there are many of their private variations. If we talk about the advantage of choosing any of the options, then it must be said that each has its own advantages and disadvantages. When fastened with mounting tape and glue, the mirror is attached so that you cannot see what it hangs on. This also does not require a special tool. Moreover, the use of sealant is justified in cases high humidity, but the scotch tape is afraid of moisture. The disadvantages of using glue or mounting tape include their disposability. If you cut off the tape or glue with a metal string, it will be much more difficult to secure the mirror back. It will be necessary to clean everything and carry out all procedures from the beginning.
Mechanical fastening is good when you have a porous surface that is prone to delamination. Let's say a whitewashed wall. However, such an attachment is visible, and it can also begin to corrode over time. What will spoil the appearance, which means it is a kind of disadvantage. But to remove and put the mirror in place, during cosmetic repair will not be difficult.
So, what to use, which of the options for mounting the mirror is up to you, we can only hope that the choice will be correct and the mirror will hang in its place for a long time and at the same time reliably.

There are mirrors in every home. Often they are built into furniture, for example, in wardrobes or bathroom cabinets, but in some cases they have to be fixed to the wall.

The easiest way is, if the finished mirror is in the frame, then it will not be difficult to mount it. And if you have to fix it to the wall, and even more so if the accessory is large, for example, from floor to ceiling, you will have to make an effort and, of course, high-quality

To hang or glue a mirror, you need to plan everything carefully. When calculating the dimensions, it is important to take into account that the mirror should not touch other objects, otherwise cracks may subsequently appear.

What glue to glue the mirror on

Tytan glue for mirrors

Mirror adhesive Titanium one of the most reliable compounds for working with various surfaces.

It is made of resins and rubber, which ensure the reliability of fixation and installation of decorative mirrors to tiles, concrete, metal, wood surfaces, plasterboard boards.

The main properties of Titanium glue:

  • elastic and waterproof seam,
  • high adhesion to most surfaces,
  • does not damage the mirror amalgam,
  • easy to use,
  • durable
  • not afraid of moisture,
  • affordable price.

Apply Tytan to a dry, even, grease-free surface using a pistol. Two centimeters recede from the edge, and five centimeters between the glue strips.

Within five minutes, the position of the mirror can be corrected by a few millimeters.

When working with large mirrors, it is worth purchasing fasteners that will protect against falling.

Alternative to Titan - Abro

The fast-setting and very strong Abro adhesive is used for metal-to-glass and glass-to-glass joints.

The manufacturer supplies the composition in two ampoules. One contains glue, the other activator.

Since it contains aminic acids and isopropanol, the product can only be used in a well-ventilated area.

  • SOUDAL (mirror-glass)
  • Bostik 2750 is guaranteed not to corrode mirror amalgam.

How to glue a mirror to a wall

You don't need a hammer or nails to attach the mirror to the wall. We will use the "Moment montage" glue. It does not damage the amalgam coating of the mirror, waterproof, suitable for interior use.

We also need:

  • assembly gun,
  • stationery knife,
  • stool,
  • foam or other soft surface (we will put a mirror on it while applying glue),
  • mirror.

Sticking is done only if both the wall and the mirror itself are dry.

Operating procedure:

  1. Cut off the spout from the tube of glue with a clerical knife.
  2. We turn the mirror over and put it face down on a stable surface (for example, a stool), after placing a soft material under it.
  3. We install the glue in the assembly gun and apply the composition to the mirror in strips over its entire surface.
  4. We press it against the wall and immediately tear it off. We are waiting for 3-4 minutes. This technique allows you to speed up the gluing process. It can be applied to work with all assembly adhesives solvent based.
  5. Put the mirror to the wall again. Since it is heavy, we use the "Super Tape Moment" for fixation. We glue several strips of tape along its surface, grabbing the wall. After a day, the tape can be removed.

How to glue a mirror to a cabinet door

For what glue a mirror to a tree? This question arises from the owners of cabinets who want to attach it to the door.

The best result is demonstrated by a combination of silicone (or liquid nails) and double-sided tape.

You will also need to work:

  • glass cleaner,
  • clean cloth,
  • 4 strips of fiberboard, 2-4 cm wide and slightly longer than the minimum size of the mirror.

Bonding procedure:

  1. Remove the door from its hinges and place it face up on the floor or table.
  2. We attach a mirror to the door and outline it around the perimeter. This is how we outline the place for gluing.
  3. We moisten the rags in a glass cleaner and wipe the door, then the back of the mirror.
  4. We glue strips of double-sided tape on the door with an indent from each other by 20 cm. The tape should not protrude beyond the applied markings.
  5. Between the strips of adhesive tape we lay the strips of fiberboard so that they do not touch each other. Apply silicone to areas free from adhesive tape and fiberboard.
  6. Remove the protective strips from the tape and apply a mirror.
  7. Independently or involving an assistant, we hold him and take out the strips of fiberboard. We make sure that the mirror does not move out. It is more convenient to start pulling out the fiberboard from one side and move in order.
  8. We press it down so that the silicone spreads. We make sure that it is fixed.
  9. We install the cabinet door in place.

We glue the mirror on the tile glue

The question of how to glue a mirror on tile glue is asked by everyone who makes repairs in the bathroom.

  1. Before starting work, you need to choose a place where the mirror will hang.
  2. Next, it is carefully cleaned by removing the tiles in the area where the mirror will be located.
  3. At the next stage, this area is putty and leveled, then the bottom row of the border is glued.
  4. The adhesive is applied perpendicular to the border to make the connection more durable. In thickness, it should coincide with the thickness of the tile, on average it is 6-10 mm. Plastic crosses will help to make the seams even, which are fixed between the seams and left until the composition completely solidifies. Then the top row of the border is laid.
  5. It is recommended to nail a piece of wood to the wall to hold the top curb until the glue is completely dry.
  6. Then the side tiles are laid, removing excess glue from the surface.
  7. Now you can start installation. Be sure to leave a small gap between the mirror and the tile.
  8. The mirror is applied to the wall and pressed firmly. In this position, you need to keep it for about 15 minutes. After the adhesive has dried, grouting can be started.

If the item is heavy, tile adhesive not enough, you need liquid nails or glue and sealant for mirrors. But not all are suitable, some corrode the amalgam, as a result of which spots and cloudiness appear on the surface.

A proven solution is Multifix liquid nails and PENOSIL Premium MirrorFix, which not only provide a strong elastic bond, but also moisture resistance.
