What production is now the most cost-effective and profitable in the difficult realities of the Russian economy? As you know, the production of auxiliary components for goods, for example, containers, packaging, etc. materials is often more profitable and more cost-effective than the actual production of these goods. This is explained simply: the packaging is usually made from one material and does not require complex processing, while the product itself can be multi-component and produced using high technologies.
If we talk about Russian market pallet, then the business for their manufacture is one of the most popular and profitable compared to many other areas.
The point here is not only that many organizations of the most different areas production (as well as some trading companies) actively use wooden pallets and often renew their fleet. In the production of pallets, there is one small moment that makes life much easier Russian manufacturers of this container: imported pallets are not only more expensive than domestic ones, but their importation into the territory of the Russian Federation is associated with certain difficulties, in particular, when customs clearance of pallets, it is required to undergo paid phytosanitary control at the border.
Plastic and metal pallets do not pass such control, but they are much more expensive and therefore “did not take root” in our country. The quality of Russian pallets is in no way inferior to the so-called. "Europallets", provided, of course, not manual and handicraft, but machine and industrial production.
AT foreign countries the production of pallets is standardized (standard UIC 435-2), and their mandatory factory assembly is even regulated by a number of laws. Indeed, pallets produced on specialized lines are of better quality than manual assembly, not to mention their geometry.
In Russia, mandatory machine assembly is optional, although GOST 9557-87 repeats the European standard almost word for word. All technical points- tolerances, allowances, thickness, number of nails, chamfers, etc. in UIC 435-2 and GOST 9557-87 are the same. Therefore, releasing pallets according to domestic state standards, you can safely call them "Europallets" - this will significantly increase the demand for them, because goods of foreign, especially European, standards are in great demand in Russia.
Technology and equipment for the production of pallets
But no matter how popular and profitable the production of pallets (wooden pallets) may be, upon opening own business special attention should be paid to the choice of equipment for their production. There are two options for equipping a pallet production workshop: buying used equipment and new equipment.
In principle, the choice depends on your financial capabilities, although the availability of start-up capital sufficient to purchase a new line does not automatically mean the purchase of one. If you carefully consider offers for used lines, you can pick up two, three or even more lines for the same amount.
The technology for the production of pallets is extremely simple, so we will omit its detailed description in this article, confining ourselves to a brief one. Blanks are laid in the templates of the nailing machine - boards and checkers or bars. Knocking the legs of the pallet with the main part takes place in one pass in two different templates. The template with legs is fed back after nailing by the operator of the nailing machine, and the knocked down legs are transferred to the main template, which, after nailing the pallet in it, passes further.
Those interested can watch a video showing the operation of the pallet production line, posted at the end of the article. The main thing to understand is that the main and almost the only unit of this line is the hydraulic nailer tape machine. The rest of the equipment is considered optional.
So, in terms of prices for used nailers, we can say that they vary very widely. In the secondary market, you can even find devices from the 1980s! Moreover, even they should not be ignored - you just need to remember that the life of such equipment is up to overhaul- about 10-12 years, and ideally such repairs are carried out every 8-9 years.
If a car manufactured in the 1980s has been properly serviced during its service life, then it can be safely purchased, especially since the price for such copies is very low: approximately from € 8000-9000 to € 15000, and in some cases (although they , of course, rather an exception than a rule) the cost of a line for the production of pallets in very good condition reaches up to € 75,000-80,000.
Cars produced in the next decade, that is, the 1990s, are no longer even considered obsolete - this segment is most densely packed with offers that are very close in price to the production lines of the 2000s: the price range for models of the last decade of the last century is approximately from € 16,500 to € 140,000 [from 0.7 to 6 million rubles]; the lines of this century of release are estimated between € 100,000-€ 295,000 - almost indistinguishable from new ones at the upper limit.
As you can see, preference should be given to the options of the 1980-90s, as the most profitable. Buying a line of the 2000s at the price of a new one is simply irrational.
New pallet production lines are usually offered in two versions: equipped with one nailer (capacity 1-2 pallets per minute) or based on two such machines mounted in a conveyor (capacity - 5 pallets per minute). The first option will cost about 11.5-12 million rubles, the second - about 17.5-18 million rubles.
In addition to the main one, some optional equipment, which can be safely taken used - it is used by less than 80% of its actual capacity. Such pallet production equipment includes a slitting machine €9500-€11000, a hydraulic outfeed conveyor €12000-€13000 and a corner trimmer €18000-€21000.
For the production of pallets, solid wood blocks or blocks glued from sawdust, boards of II - III grades, cut in accordance with the required dimensions of the pallet, and nails are required. The characteristics of each of the components can be found in GOST 9557-87.
The ideal option there will, of course, be the purchase of raw materials at woodworking enterprises: sawmills, etc., otherwise, most likely, you will have to purchase additional equipment for dissolving and cutting solid wood - a batch trimming machine, etc., since finished semi-finished products significantly increase the cost pallet. Sometimes (in particular, for checkers) you can use production waste.
The technology for the production of pallets provides for their manufacture from a raw board, followed by drying in special drying chambers with a capacity of 400 cubic meters. m or more. During drying, the pallet is also impregnated with antiseptics.
Profitability and prospects for the development of the pallet business
The profitability of pallet production depends on only one factor - the cost of raw materials for their manufacture. Therefore, it is better to start such a business at least in regions with a developed woodworking industry, and in the ideal case, in general, with a woodworking plant, this will reduce the cost of both the raw materials themselves and their transportation. In addition, among the customers of the woodworking plant there will definitely be additional buyers of pallets.
The cost of substandard, unedged and semi-edged boards of the required size is 3-4 thousand rubles. per cube meter. A beam for sawing checkers is somewhat more expensive - from 4-5 thousand rubles. per cube meter, although much less is required. But checkers glued from sawdust will cost about 1.5-2 times cheaper. Based on these prices, the cost of one pallet will range from 200 to 250 rubles, on average, for example, 225 rubles. The selling price of a pallet is about 265 rubles on average.
Thus, the income from one pallet is approximately equal to 40 rubles. A line that produces 3 pallets in 2 minutes will produce more than 700 pallets per day, and more than 17 thousand per month. In this case, the profit will be more than 700 thousand rubles. Annual income is approximately 8.5 million rubles, net of taxes, wages for workers, utility bills, etc. net profit will be no less than 4.5-5 million rubles. in year. This is if you work in one shift. If, for example, a line with two nailers is used, producing 5 pallets per minute and working in 3 shifts, the net profit is about 120-150 thousand rubles. - per day or somewhere around 3.5 million rubles. per month!
The break-even point with the first described scheme occurs in about 2.5-3 years. If you work in 2 shifts - respectively half as much. When using the second scheme, the capital invested in equipment pays off in less than a year, of course, subject to the instant sale of all produced pallets, that is, under ideal conditions.
