Plastic pipes are used today both by professional installers and in everyday life on the most different stages construction or repair work. In sewerage systems, hot and cold water supply, heating, there is a steady trend to use plastic pipes instead of cast iron or metal.

Corrugated PVC pipes production Russian company"Promrukav" are intended for wide use in a single laying: in domestic electrical installations inside or outside the premises. For the operation of computer, telephone, television, electrical networks in case of their construction insulated wires and flame retardant cables. The maximum allowable voltage is 1000V. Manufactured from high quality PVC. Thanks to the use of corrugated pipes, the time for installing the electrical network is significantly reduced.

The corrugations are stiffening ribs and therefore provide protection to the wires, excluding any mechanical impact. If you mount cables along the walls, you will provide yourself with easy access to cables, repair, replacement at any convenient time. This is much easier than arranging wiring deep in the wall.

Corrugated HDPE (polyethylene low pressure, material) pipes also designed for single laying of non-combustible materials. They are uniform along all lengths, do not form cracks. Outperforms PVC pipes in terms of wear resistance.

Orange corrugated pipes HDPE halogen-free they are made of HDPE with the use of special additives to reduce the combustibility of the material. The abbreviation NG in the name means "non-flammable".

Smooth Rigid PVC Pipes used in open wiring - along walls and ceilings. The format is three meters long. For solutions in corners and ledges, fasteners and other accessories that are convenient and easy to use should be used. Pipes have a high degree of protection IP65, prevent the penetration of moisture, protect against mechanical damage.

Smooth HDPE pipes provide additional insulation of networks and protect against mechanical damage. They are durable - the service life is over 50 years. Resistant to temperature extremes, withstand severe frosts.

Plastic pipes allow you to collect all the cables in one place and provide equal access to each of them.

Metal thin-walled pipes are produced by different companies around the world according to a single standard.

The USA, Canada, China, Turkey and India are the main producers of EMT pipe today. The main sales markets are Northern and South America, Middle East and Europe. In Russia, this product is still little represented.

At a time when all progressive mankind has mastered the technology of wiring in steel pipes ah the EMT standard, we have been left out of the technological progress in this area.

The mission of our company is to fill this annoying gap. After all, this is a really necessary and useful product.

Thanks to the unique technical solutions of the EMT piping system, electrical installation in steel pipes will become easier and operation electrical systems- much safer.

So, let's start in order:

1 . Thin-walled steel electrical galvanized pipe EMT (Electrical Metallic Tubing).

Manufactured from mild steel.

Galvanized inside and outside. The weld seam is additionally galvanized or not, depending on the manufacturer.

The EMT pipe is an excellent mechanical protection of cables and wires, combined with ductility when bending without creases and cracking of the seam, and ease of cutting.

.

These dimensions do not match standard sizes thin-walled electric-welded pipes of Russian production.

You can use a pipe with an outer diameter of 18 mm ( GOST 10704-91). The difference in outer diameter of 0.07 mm is not critical.

Usage restrictions:

The cross section of the copper core should be no more than 2.5 mm2 according to the conditions of the localization ability.

  • Not applicable to outdoor electrical installations.

2. Reinforced steel electrical galvanized pipe RMC threaded.

(Rigidmetalconduit)

V In this case, we have a complete match with native and familiar VGP pipes.

Galvanized outside and inside by hot dip galvanizing. Both ends of the pipe have NPT threads. The pipe is supplied complete with a coupling.

Steel pipes for electrical wiring of the RMC standard are designed for harsh environments, including for outdoor wiring.

3. BS pipes.

Steel electrical pipes of the European standard. On the Russian market known by brands Steel electrical pipes KOPOS (Kopos) and Cosmec metal pipes produced by DKC (DKS).

Available in the following sizes - 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 53, 60 mm. Wall thickness from 1.0 to 1.5 mm.

Available with plain ends or metric threads.

PVC pipes are optimal solution when installing electrical wiring, as their plastic housings can reliably protect electrical cable from unwanted damage, and thereby prevent the occurrence of a fire when a short circuit occurs.

Advantages and disadvantages

long time metal tubes were used to perform electrical work, performing a protective function, but as time shows, PVC products are much more suitable for this purpose.

PVC pipes for electrical installation have such advantages as:

  • low level of flammability, able to prevent fire;
  • no corrosion;
  • full protection of wires from deformation;
  • the risk of electric shock is eliminated even if the cable is damaged;
  • no need for grounding and welding;
  • it is possible to lay the wire in any conditions, including high humidity;
  • the material is light weight;
  • installation is simple;
  • polyvinyl chloride is resistant to low temperatures;
  • during installation, the material bends easily due to plasticity;
  • increased strength and elasticity of the product provides long term operation.

At the same time, PVC pipes have a lower cost than similar material steel or copper. To work with these versatile products, no special skills are required, as well as additional protection of electrical wires. Despite the fact that these products are the most fire resistant and are optimally suited for electrical work they have their drawbacks. Compared to low density polyethylene products, they are less resistant to ultraviolet radiation, and the lightest due to their small thickness, the pipes are quite susceptible to mechanical stress.

For this reason, both of them are more often used for internal installation or in places where strong pressure is not exerted on them.

Material types

PVC pipes are available in several versions. It is worth noting that soft and hard tubes are used for walls made of different material, besides, are applied at a coupler of floors.

Smooth

Smooth (straight) materials are ordinary hollow cylinders made of slightly combustible polymers that are used in open areas of walls. Thick-walled products are the most durable, their application mainly refers to production premises where there is a high risk of mechanical damage to the cable. The most popular product of this type is the D20 smooth electrical pipe made of polyamide, which is used for indoor and outdoor installation. It is a white or gray tube with a diameter of 20 mm, halogen-free, moisture resistant with increased elasticity and flame retardant. Installation and operation of this product can be carried out at temperatures from -15 to +90 degrees.

The flexible material has a large bending radius (160 mm), high impact and tensile strength.

Corrugated

A special place is occupied by corrugated, flexible materials, which are convenient for connecting cables when uneven surfaces as well as in hard-to-reach places. Such electrical pipes contain a special wire (broaching) inside and are packed in coils of 15, 20, 25, 50, 100 m. electric wire. Based on the diameter of the material, wires can be placed in whole bundles in pipes and, thanks to such opportunities, electrical networks of increased complexity can be installed. In this regard, it is worth considering in more detail specifications these products.

Corrugated PVC pipe complies with GOST standards, like other PVC pipes designed for conducting electrical cables.

Such pipes have the following technical characteristics:

  • guarantee a high degree of protection (GOST 14254);
  • equipped with a special broach;
  • thick-walled materials make it possible to lay a floor covering under a cement screed;
  • installation can be carried out at a temperature range from -50 to +50 degrees;
  • the material is self-extinguishing.

The double-walled corrugated pipe has a smooth layer inside, the outer layer is corrugated. The material is not afraid of mechanical impact, high and low temperatures, vibration. Additional accessories in the form of a broach allow installation to be carried out quickly and easily. The standard product is used for laying in floors and walls, ceilings, in residential premises and industrial workshops, in outdoor conditions. You can store products for up to two years with the integrity of the package.

Reinforced PVC pipe is a spiral frame with soft polyvinyl chloride. This is a material with increased plasticity, which makes it possible to use it at high vibration, in places with significant surface bends. Such pipes can be light and heavy with thick walls, with or without a broach.

However, all products are distinguished by water resistance and wear resistance. The diameter of these products can range from 16mm to 63mm.

uPVC

Unplasticized PVC conduits are smooth products that can be used for both hidden and external cable routing.

These products are classified according to the following criteria:

  • by type it is normal - "N" and reinforced "U", when laying in concrete bases is required;
  • in appearance - with and without a bell;
  • according to wall thickness.

Any products have a length of 3 to 6 m according to GOST. Installation of products with sockets is carried out by connecting the straight ends into sockets. When performing electrical work, it is recommended to fill the gaps with a special adhesive base based on polyvinyl chloride resin. UPVC pipes are made of non-combustible polymer material, are light in weight. The service life of the product is 50 years.

Wiring

For electrical wiring using PVC pipes you will need additional components designed for each type and model, namely:

  • a box for connection with a junction box;
  • holder with a latch for fastening pipes to walls;
  • clamp fastener;
  • corrugated sleeve;
  • transparent sleeve;
  • polyethylene staples;
  • knee (angle) for connection at a right angle;
  • tee for T-shaped connections;
  • special coupling for wet rooms and outdoors.

And you will also need the presence of such hardware as clips, turns, dowel-ties, crosses. In order to correctly and accurately position the power grid, you will need a building level during work.

Installation is carried out as follows:

  • First of all, you should make a markup for placing pipes with wires. To prevent the cable from heating up, it is necessary to protect them from any heating elements indented by 0.5 meters;
  • every 10-15 cm pipes must be fixed, so you need to think in advance which fasteners will be used;
  • further, branching boxes (PVC accessories) are mounted and the location of clips and mounting clamps is marked;
  • it is necessary to ensure that the voltage does not exceed 15000 V;
  • after that, the cable is leveled, inside the PVC pipes must be clean;
  • fasteners are placed on the marked sections, and the tubes are cut into segments of the required sizes;
  • tubes are placed in clips with fasteners adjusted to their diameter;
  • an electric wire is pulled through the pipe elements using a special broach, individual sections are interconnected, including bends, turns;
  • cables can be led in several pieces directly into the junction box, and then connected to certain objects.

It is important to ensure that all connections are as reliable and tight as possible.

It does not matter whether a smooth or corrugated PVC pipe is used, it is necessary to take into account the following nuances when wiring:

  • if the cable is connected with pulling from the wall to the floor, then it is better to use corrugated connectors;
  • it is always better to connect two different points with a whole piece of polyvinyl chloride;
  • you should not let the broach go inside the protective profile when biting it with a side cutter, in the future this will make you spend time getting it out;
  • some pipe models do not require wire - in this case, you can use a nylon or a metal broach;

When arranging concealed wiring PVC pipe for electrical wiring is most often in demand, however, a significant range reliable protection current-carrying elements requires their detailed review.

Why is the truth in the pipe for electrical wiring?

Initially, the distribution of electricity to residential and industrial premises, social and transport infrastructure facilities was carried out in open form. Moreover, public method continues to be actively used to this day - just remember the same power lines or trolleybus wires. Open wiring arrangements benefit from the simplest fault diagnosis, easy access to the point of failure, and a significantly lower cost estimate for installation and possible repairs.

However, there can be no question of any aesthetics of the premises in the presence of tangles of serpentine wires on the ceilings and walls. Decorating such "intricacies of construction" is difficult, expensive and often unacceptable from the point of view of fire safety. The only exceptions are low-voltage telephone and signaling wires - but special skirting boards with an internal cable channel are already being produced for them.

Such products are widely used for repair when laying laminate, installation, and even when arranging self-leveling floors. The main thing is to remember that there is a strict limitation on the loads of the wires laid in them (usually up to 24 Volts). Standard power supply in plastic baseboards with cable channels cannot be placed, and pulling the cable over the repaired walls - to deprive the repair of aesthetic meaning. The obvious way out is the hidden installation of cables and wires, but everything is ambiguous with him.

Everyone knows the hidden location of the wiring in Soviet-built houses - power cables either simply walled up in a brick wall, or located in the grooves of a concrete wall. In fact, this is a completely worthy and economical method of distributing electricity to residential premises - if we ignore the rapid progress in the market for construction and finishing materials, if we neglect the durability and reliability of the wiring.

Installation of electrical wiring in pipes allows you to:

  • Perform work in wooden, plastic and other structures with a fire hazard;
  • To achieve the functionality of cables for many decades due to their "pipe protection";
  • Save on the insulation of the wires themselves - inside the pipes it does not require layers, screens, armored braids, etc.;
  • It is easy to diagnose a possible malfunction and provide partial replacement of electrical wiring without opening walls and ceilings, floors, partitions and ceilings;
  • Avoid damage during the repair process. When extracting immured in alabaster, concrete or brickwork wires, insulation or current-carrying wires are likely to be damaged - wiring in pipes guarantees the absence of such repair collisions;
  • The current load on the conductors inside the pipes is allowed higher than when they are located in the thickness of the walls due to natural ventilation due to internal gaps.

Which pipes to choose for laying electrical wiring - metal or plastic, rigid structures or flexible corrugation - depends on the material of the walls, the finishing materials used, the current load and other repair specifics.

When choosing a method, how to protect and how to arrange electrical wiring, it is important to prioritize correctly - safety, reliability and maintainability must prevail over economy and speed of completion of the project.

Steel pipe for electrical wiring - when is metal relevant in the walls?

First of all, when the walls are wooden. Short circuit in the thickness of a tree is a nightmare for any owner and for all residents of wooden buildings, it can lead to fatal consequences without any quotes. In any combustible material, wiring inside metal pipes is relevant, but primarily in wooden buildings.

Big weight metal structure, its property to independently conduct electricity lead to the need to perform work exactly on the spot. Steel pipes must have a significant diameter, the conductors inside them should be placed freely. Savings on wire insulation in this case is unacceptable, each contact must be carefully isolated. When arranging sockets and switches in wooden walls, the "glasses" for their installation must also be metal.

In old houses interfloor ceilings often made of wood, so wiring between floors in the thickness of such ceilings must be done inside a metal pipe. For small areas it is possible to use flexible metallized corrugations. Wiring in metal tubes is very expensive and laborious, but it’s better not to save on the risk of fire ...

PVC pipe for electrical wiring - what about the alternatives?

Flush-mounted plastic pipes for electrical wiring are used widely and everywhere. This is due to the following repair advantages that a PVC pipe for electrical wiring, rigid HDPE "pipelines" and other plastic-based products have:

  • Corrosion resistance and immunity to chemically active substances;
  • Ease. Compared to a metal pipe, a plastic one is 5-7 times lighter, and this greatly simplifies installation, which is important when working at height, on ceilings, in places with limited access;
  • Opportunity flexible laying. Use this property of plastic pipes with caution, because. according to GOST and PUE standards, the location of conductors inside the walls " should be straightforward and predictable on the outside wherever possible«;
  • Possible self-laying plastic protection of cables and wires, and with minimal repair experience. Welding joints of steel pipes require specialized equipment and skills;
  • Low cost of electrical work and lack of harmful secretions into the atmosphere, not extra quality for residential premises.

The differences between the types of plastic pipes are due to the formula of their composition. HDPE pipe for electrical wiring is made of low density polyethylene, it is distinguished by the best indicators of resistance to any corrosion. In a humid environment, for laying cables under a roof with dubious reliability, a HDPE pipe will be optimal. PVD compound means polyethylene high pressure , it is as strong as possible to shocks and bends, but is sensitive to oxidation and, in general, to the effects of gases. Polyethylene pipes economical, but the very technology of their production provides for thick walls, so that the cheapness turns out to be virtual.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes are available in standard rigid form and in the form of corrugated flexible hoses. Their main advantages are excellent strength, rigidity and minimal linear expansion during installation and operation. A wide range of diameters (from 15 to 63 mm), a wide selection of adapters and other accessories, the compatibility of corrugation and straight pipes allows you to lay all the wiring in the same material. The temperature resistance and fire safety of PVC pipes is higher. They are not afraid of temperature changes from -25 ˚C to + 60 ˚C.

Most major rewiring works use PVC piping. They are optimal in terms of long-term operation and reliable protection of power wires. V wooden walls cables should be protected with metal pipes, in rooms with high humidity- polyethylene. When developing the electrification of complex and / or extended objects, you can (and should!) Use different types pipes for electrical wiring.

Pipes are used not only for the construction of pipelines through which liquids and gases are transported, but also for other purposes. For example, in construction, pipes are used for the construction of various metal structures; in electrical engineering, a PVC pipe is often used for electrical wiring. Usage this material allows you to prevent mechanical damage to the wires and protect against fire in the event of a short circuit.

The idea of laying cables in pipes did not come up yesterday. Only used before metal pipes- made of copper, steel or aluminium. With the advent of plastic pipes for electrical wiring, their metal counterparts have practically ceased to be used.

The main purpose of using pipes in electrical wiring is to protect the cable from possible damage mechanical nature. Pipes are recommended to be used for installation of both open and hidden wiring.

Advantages of their PVC pipes for electrical wiring over metal pipes

The appearance of plastic pipes on the market has become a real revolution. Now these products are almost everywhere replacing similar metal products.

Here are the main advantages that PVC pipes for electrical wiring differ from metal pipes:

  • Long service life. Plastic pipes may well last more than half a century.
  • Resistance to corrosion and aggressive environments. Plastic pipes are allowed to be used in rooms where humidity indicators exceed the norm, in addition, they are used for laying cables underground or in water.
  • Small mass. This circumstance facilitates transportation, unloading and installation itself.
  • Plastic pipes of small diameter bend easily.
  • When the services of a qualified welder are not required, as with the installation of metal structures.
  • Even if moisture gets inside the pipe, it will not be able to damage the pipe when it freezes.
  • Affordable price. are cheaper than steel pipes, not to mention expensive copper pipes.

Pipes for electrical wiring made of PVC

Hardware stores offer PVC pipes in large assortment. It can be smooth, pipes with reinforcement of the upper layer or corrugated. In most cases, pipes are produced by continuous extrusion.

On sale you can find pipes of various sizes from 16 to 63 mm in diameter. As a rule, pipes are delivered in straight lengths of three meters. PVC pipes are used for mounting open wiring on walls, floors or ceilings made of various materials, including wood. Moreover, this species pipes can also be used for hidden wiring - in concrete or brick walls, in concrete floor screeds, etc.

Corrugated PVC pipes for electrical wiring

Corrugated pipes for PVC electrical wiring are especially often used. A corrugated pipe is usually called a pipe having a variable cross section. Areas with a smaller diameter and thin walls alternate with thick-walled areas with a large diameter.

Thickenings give the pipe rigidity, and the presence of sections with thin walls allows the pipe to be bent at any angle, as well as stretch it. The stretch limit depends on the type of pipe and its total length.

Polyvinyl chloride is a fairly rigid material, in addition, the length of smaller diameter sections of electrical pipes is not very large, so this type of pipe cannot be stretched much. But on the other hand, the flexibility indicators of PVC corrugated pipes are very high, especially for small diameter products.

When purchasing a corrugated pipe for laying electrical wiring, you need to remember that the catalogs indicate external diameter, which is several millimeters larger than the internal one.

Therefore, you should not buy a pipe whose diameter is equal to the diameter of the wire harness, you should choose a slightly larger size.

Installation of PVC electrical pipes

  • If only mechanical protection of the cable is required, then a leaky pipeline is installed.
    If it is necessary to protect the wires from other external influences, a moisture-dust-tight pipeline should be assembled.
  • When laying pipes to accommodate electrical wiring, they should be fixed below the pipes through which the coolant is supplied to avoid heating the wires.

If the electrical and heating pipes intersect in some place, then it is necessary to provide a gap between them with a size of 50 mm. With parallel piping minimum distance between them should be 100 mm

  • It is forbidden to make wire connections inside pipes, electrical boxes are installed at the joints.
  • When installing wiring in rooms with a normal level of humidity, it is not necessary to install seals at the pipe junctions. If the wiring runs in a room with damp air, then the installation of a seal is mandatory.

Sealing of joints is carried out by standard methods for the installation of pipelines using couplings and fittings.

Features of corrugated pipe installation

  • A distinctive feature of the corrugated pipe is the presence of an internal broach- thin steel wire.
    When cutting the pipe into segments, you should bite the wire with side cutters. In this case, it is important not to let the wire slip inside (the wire is in the pipe with some stretch). Therefore, when making a cut, the broach should be held with a finger.
  • After that, pipes with wires are attached at the installation site - on ceilings or walls. For fasteners, you can use plastic or aluminum clips.

conclusions

Thus, using PVC pipes for electrical wiring, you can reliably protect the wires from damage and external influences (moisture, dust, etc.).
