Benefits of chasing ceilings by Pharaoh
Our company complies with the rules on the prohibition of chasing ceilings in apartment buildings, so we do this work only over the plastered surface. The main arguments in our favor are that:

  • we apply special equipment, which allows you to make neat strobes, with virtually no noise;
  • you can order a comprehensive service for the wiring of power supply from us, which implies a tangible discount in the total cost of work;
  • Quite affordable prices attract customers to us, and significant discounts are provided for regular customers.

How the work on chasing takes place

There are many ways and professional tricks, for example, an experienced specialist can "hide" electrical wire into a hollow slab, and bring it out through drilled hole for lighting fixture. When a strobe is made, the wire is fixed with special clamps, then hidden under a layer of plaster.

It is convenient to install electrical wiring under a false or stretch ceiling, then you can easily “hide” the junction box, leaving it inside.

If someone decides to do the work himself, then remember that for safety reasons, work cannot be done while standing on a stepladder. Therefore, goats are used for gating, on which it is convenient to stand and work and there is less chance of falling than standing on an unstable ladder.

The procedure is most often ordered to connect lighting devices on the ceiling: chandeliers, lamps, spot lighting systems. Our masters take into account all the individual features of the work carried out and guarantee a high result.

When laying electrical wiring under the ceiling, they often resort to chasing the surface. About the features of the implementation of this process and will be discussed in our article.

Prerequisites for chasing

The main reason for creating cable strobes is the modernization of the electrical network during repairs in the house. In most cases, this process is accompanied by the replacement of electrical wiring with the addition of points for modern appliances.

In an apartment located in panel house, electrical cable wiring is usually carried out in a monolithic pipe. Distribution boxes are placed in a solid concrete surface, and switches and sockets are installed in places that are inconvenient for use. In this case, too, you can not do without shtrobleniye.

Chasing the ceiling for wiring must also be carried out if the cable that leads to the chandelier or lamps is damaged. If the procedure is carried out in an apartment, you should take into account the likelihood of force majeure and prevent moisture from entering due to possible flooding from the top floor.

Sometimes you will have to face the problem when the wiring cannot be hidden under a thin layer of plaster. If the surface of the ceiling is not too smooth, then you will first need to level it by applying additional plaster. Only after this is the creation of strobes.

Choosing a tool for cutting channels on the ceiling

To create a strobe in the ceiling, you can use various tools:

  • chisel and hammer;
  • perforator;
  • grinder with a diamond disc;
  • wall chaser.

Using a chisel and a hammer is the most accessible, but the most time-consuming work. A lot of effort and time will be spent on chasing the ceiling with these tools. For this reason, a chisel with a hammer is used only when not large volume work or when, due to circumstances, there is no access to the electrical network.

A better creation of strobes for wiring under the ceiling (pictured) is carried out using a perforator. But its use also has a significant drawback - it is impossible to create an even groove with a puncher. Yes, the ceiling can be damaged.

Smooth strobes are obtained using a grinder equipped with a diamond disc. On the ceiling, groove lines are marked along which the disk is drawn. The plaster from the middle of the strobe is removed with a chisel or perforator. The “minus” of this tool is that it is not recommended to use it for a large amount of work, as it can fail due to overheating.

The best option is chasing the ceiling with a tool that is designed for this purpose. Such a tool is a wall chaser, with which two grooves are immediately created. Dust generated during operation is removed by a vacuum cleaner, which is attached to the casing of the wall chaser.

Preparatory stage

Regardless of the type of base surface, the wiring scheme under the ceiling provides for a high-quality preparatory stage. It consists of:

  • determining the cable laying method;
  • drawing up drawings indicating the location of all devices, junction boxes and shields;
  • purchase of materials and tools.

Cable laying is a very demanding job. The fire safety of the entire living area depends on the quality of its implementation. Therefore, before cutting the strobe, the following requirements must be met:

  • it is forbidden to connect all lighting to one machine
  • installation work begins with the installation of boxes, and not laying the wiring;
  • cables should not be allowed to cross;
  • use wiring only with the optimal cross section (incorrect cable selection can lead to fire);
  • in rooms with high humidity(bathroom, kitchen) install only moisture-resistant boxes;
  • all junction boxes are taken out of the new ceiling;
  • mandatory use of pipes in which the cable is laid.

As for the last requirement, the thickness of the pipes directly depends on the cable cross-section:

  • for wiring with a cross section of 2.5-4 mm, the minimum wall thickness of the tube should be 2.8 mm;
  • for cable 4-10 mm - 3.2 mm;
  • for wiring 10-20 mm - 3.5 mm;
  • for a cable with a cross section of more than 20 mm - 4 mm.

The wiring under the stretch ceiling can be laid without insulating tubes. Naturally, this is done in such a way that the cable does not come into contact with the ceiling structure. But it is better to lay the cable in a box made of plastic.

In the presence of rack ceiling fastening of plastic sleeves is carried out directly to a surface. If the ceiling is wooden, you can use steel tubes.

When wiring under false ceiling corrugated tubes are used for its reliable isolation. They are fastened to the ceiling using clips, screws and plastic dowels.

Chasing the ceiling will only be carried out if the wiring can be laid in the groove made. Based on this, it is not recommended to cut strobes in reinforced concrete slabs with voids. In this case, the cable is mounted directly in the panel voids.

Chasing the ceiling

Cutting the strobe occurs after marking:

  • two lines are cut along the lines;
  • a channel is punched with a perforator or chisel;
  • the cable is laid in a strobe;
  • the grooves are sealed.

The depth of the channels must be such that the wiring is placed in them along with the fasteners. The width of the strobe depends on the thickness of the cable. Grooves should not have sharp protrusions.

Before closing the strobe, the cable must be checked for the presence of a margin, which is needed when connecting sockets and switches, as well as for connecting wires in junction boxes.

  • dust is removed from the strobe and cable;
  • the plaster mixture is diluted;
  • its application is carried out in the inner part of the strobe with the wire pressed;
  • using a wide spatula, excess plaster is removed.

The following nuances are taken into account in the process of gating:

  • it is forbidden to use an embroidered inter-tile seam as a channel;
  • the minimum distance from the gate to the corner is 0.1 m, to the gas pipe - 0.4 m;
  • cable laying should be carried out at a right angle and along the shortest path.

many kinds repair work in an apartment or house, such as painting, puttying and wallpapering, can be done without special skills and knowledge. But it is much more difficult to replace the wiring on your own, especially if it is necessary to cut the ceiling for wiring.

Why you need to ditch the ceiling

In any residential area, the laying of electrical wiring is carried out in a closed way. In modern panel and monolithic houses electrical cables are laid in a special pipe, and junction boxes, sockets and switches are installed in niches on a concrete surface. Wires leading to ceiling lamp, are also hidden inside the floor.

If during the repair any modernization of the electrical network is carried out (replacing the wiring, moving the switch or installing an additional outlet), then for laying the cables you will have to make a strobe - a special groove in the concrete. In cases where the wiring is damaged, for example, after being flooded by neighbors from above, chasing will also be required to restore it.

Ceiling shaving methods

Groove cutting process concrete floor very labor intensive and complex. This type work should always begin with the marking of future wiring locations. Depending on the tools used, chasing the ceiling is carried out in one of four ways:

  1. Hammer and chisel. This is the most economical, but at the same time, the longest method, which consists in knocking out small pits along the edges of the future strobe and gradually removing layers of material until a groove 25 mm deep is formed.
  2. Perforator. To do this, in addition to a wide drill, you will need a special nozzle for a perforator in the form of a spatula. First, using a drill, holes are made along the marking line with a depth of 25 mm every 10 cm. Then the layers of material between the holes are removed with a spatula. This method allows you to gouge faster, but the furrows can turn out to be uneven.
  3. Bulgarian. Using a grinder with a diamond disc, cuts are made along the marking lines along the edges of the furrow, and then the concrete layer between them is removed with a chisel or puncher. This method allows you to make the strobe perfectly even.
  4. Wall chaser. With this tool, the grooves are made quickly and perfectly even, and dust and debris are collected through a special hole to which the vacuum cleaner pipe is connected. Main disadvantage this method is the high cost of the wall chaser itself.

Wiring rules

Chasing the ceiling is carried out according to pre-applied markings, however, when planning the wiring of the electrical network, you should draw up a detailed drawing in advance indicating all switching nodes and connection points, and also take into account the rules and recommendations for laying cables in the strobe:

  • Wiring is laid at right angles and along the shortest path;
  • The distance from the strobe to the corner must be at least 100 mm, and to the gas pipe - at least 400 mm;
  • In a panel house, the use of a seam between plates as a cable channel is prohibited;
  • Wiring begins with the installation of junction boxes;
  • Switching nodes must be outside the ceiling;
  • Crossing of cables during their laying is not allowed;
  • It is possible to lay in a strobe only cables of the optimal section, which is calculated based on the maximum load.

How and what to close the strobe

After the groove in concrete ceiling made and cables are laid in it, it is necessary to cover up the strobe with wiring. This can be done independently with a regular spatula. However, in order for the surface to be perfectly smooth and durable after embedding, it is necessary to follow three simple rules:

  • Padding. Before laying the cable in the strobe, it is recommended to prime it well. In this case, the primer must be applied in in large numbers with help wide brush, which allows it to penetrate deep into the groove.
  • Application of the solution. After the primer has completely dried, the strobe is additionally moistened with water and the solution is applied with a herringbone spatula, or with crosswise movements directed to the walls of the groove.
  • Removal of excess solution. After applying the solution, characteristic bumps remain in place of the strobe, which are best removed with a metal trowel, and you need to keep it at right angles to the wall.

As a material for sealing grooves for wiring, a solution based on alabaster or gypsum is usually used. However, alabaster hardens much faster, which reduces the time for leveling the surface. Application gypsum plaster allows you to work with the solution until it completely solidifies within 20 minutes.

Before you ditch the ceiling for wiring, you need to take into account that in residential premises the cable is laid, as a rule, in a closed way in special pipes.

Required Tools

The process of arranging special grooves on a concrete floor is quite time-consuming and difficult for independent execution.

Chasing the ceiling structure with your own hands can be carried out in several ways, depending on which the working tool is selected:

  • hammer and chisel - the most economical option;
  • perforator with nozzles in the form of a wide drill and a special blade;
  • grinder with a diamond blade.

A good result is the use of a professional wall chaser, using which you can quickly get perfectly even grooves on the ceiling for electrical wiring.

Step-by-step instruction

The technology of the chasing process can differ markedly depending on the structure of the ceiling structure and the selected tool.

Performing work with different devices:

  • With the help of a hammer and a chisel, small pits are knocked out along the edges of the marked punch with a gradual layer-by-layer removal of the material until a groove is formed having a depth of 2.5 cm.
  • A household perforator with a wide drill is used to make holes of 2.5 cm along the marking line every 10 cm. Layers of material between the pits are removed with a special spatula to minimize all irregularities.
  • A grinder with a diamond disc is used to make cuts along a pre-made markup. The edges of the resulting furrow are used as a limiter to remove material with a chisel or perforator.

The best option involves the use of a wall chaser equipped with a special hole for collecting dust and debris that appear during operation. A vacuum cleaner pipe must be connected to the appliance.

Electrical wiring must be laid strictly at a right angle, using for this purpose the shortest path and a well-prepared ceiling shtraba.

If the wiring in the house changes, it is not always laid through the old channels. In order not to violate the aesthetics of the interior, to ensure fire safety, protect wiring from possible damage it is made hidden and hidden in strobes - longitudinal recesses hollowed out in the wall, ceiling. The process of preparing surfaces for wiring is called gating.

Basic norms and rules for wall chasing for wiring

Chasing walls and ceilings for wiring is a critical type of work, and the procedure for its implementation is regulated nearby. normative documents in the field of construction.

  • channel chasing in bearing wall may affect its bearing capacity, therefore, such operations require mandatory coordination with the architecture management. You can get permission to cut load-bearing walls in brick houses, relatively panel houses the ban is usually categorical. The problem can be solved by laying wiring in walls made of. We talked about the installation of such walls in.
  • It is also strictly forbidden to carry out gating in slabs. floors, horizontal wiring is laid at a distance of 15-20 cm from them.
  • An embroidered seam between the plates cannot be used as a strobe.
  • Distance from corners, doors and window openings to the strobe should be at least 10 cm.
  • Shtroblenie should be carried out at a distance of at least 40 cm from the gas pipes.
  • Do-it-yourself wall chasing for wiring should be done strictly horizontally or vertically, in planes parallel or perpendicular to the floor. The only exception is attic rooms, where chasing of an inclined surface is possible.
  • The maximum continuous length of the strobe can be 3 m, depth and width - 2.5 cm.
  • If the thickness of the structure is more than 8 cm, the wire should be laid along the shortest path, if less - parallel to the construction lines.

What tools will be needed?

Chasing for electrical wiring can be carried out using different instruments, their choice is largely determined by the base material on which the gating will be carried out. It can be plaster of different composition, brick, stone, concrete of different hardness, including cellular or with a high content of crushed stone.

  • If the layer of plaster is thick enough, a strobe can be laid in it for wiring without affecting the base. In this case, it is permissible to ditch along the ceiling and load-bearing walls.
  • AT brick wall it is most convenient to lay horizontal strobes along the seam between the rows of bricks, and for vertical chasing, cutting bricks is indispensable.
  • Concrete is the most difficult to ditch, it is the most durable material.

The following tool can be used for chiselling for wiring:

In addition to this tool for chasing walls for wiring, you will need:

  • indicators or testers for detecting old hidden wiring;
  • level;
  • a vacuum cleaner;
  • personal protective equipment - goggles, gloves, respirator.

How to prepare for work?

Chasing walls for electrical wiring should be carried out according to the markup, which is carried out using a level and a pencil in accordance with the above standards

If it is necessary to shred the walls in a panel house, the wiring must necessarily pass along the load-bearing wall and ceiling, it is necessary to check the thickness of the plaster layer. If it is not enough to lay the strobe, you will have to additionally plaster the surfaces. An alternative is plasterboard wall cladding, hanging or stretch ceiling- communications will be hidden under them.

Chasing walls for electrical wiring should be carried out according to the markup, which is carried out using a level and a pencil in accordance with the above standards, taking into account the location of openings, niches and protrusions that form additional corners, communications, and old wiring.

Chasing under the cable must be done taking into account the fact that it must be laid inside the corrugated sleeve, the thickness and depth of the strobe is determined taking into account the dimensions of the latter.

If it is not dismantled, it must be identified before starting work, referring to the old plan, in its absence, using a tester or indicator, and de-energized. The new wiring must not match or overlap with the old one.

With a pencil, 2 parallel lines are drawn for each strobe. Not only strobe routes are marked, but also places for switches, sockets, junction boxes.

Chasing under the cable must be done taking into account the fact that it must be laid inside the corrugated sleeve, the thickness and depth of the strobe is determined taking into account the dimensions of the latter. A plan is drawn up for laying electrical wiring and placing electrical products.

If the room is residential, it is necessary to take out the furniture and office equipment, if possible, or carefully preserve it with a plastic film.

Gating technology: step by step instructions

Work is carried out in a certain sequence:

  1. Parallel grooves are made at a distance equal to the width of the strobe. The wall chaser allows you to make both grooves at the same time.
  2. The strobes are selected to the desired depth using a hand chisel or a puncher with a chisel attachment.
  3. The strobes are cleaned of dust and primed, after which you can proceed to laying the wiring.

Parallel grooves are made at a distance equal to the width of the strobe.

When using a perforator, the technology is slightly different:

  1. The material between them is selected using a perforator, which must be held at an angle of 45⁰;
  2. The edges are aligned with a nozzle - a semicircular chisel.

First, along the entire length of the route, with an interval of 10-15 mm, holes are made with a drill to the depth of the strobe perpendicular to the surface.

  • If you do not have the right power tool, you can rent it, it is better to opt for a wall chaser, the cost of renting it (from 260 rubles per day, depending on the brand and model) is comparable to the cost of renting a puncher (from 200 rubles) or a grinder (from 240 rubles), and the advantages are obvious.
  • It is better to rent a wall chaser or grinder complete with industrial vacuum cleaner, they catch dust better than household ones. average cost rent 400 rub. per day.
  • It is better to grind the walls with a grinder together, the assistant should either moisten the surface with a spray bottle to reduce dust formation, or hold the vacuum cleaner nozzle at a safe distance from the tool to ditch the walls without dust.

The cost of specialist services

Wall chasing for wiring is the simplest type of chasing (in comparison with chasing for pipes), these works can be done independently. The cost of their implementation by specialists depends on the material of the walls and the tool used.

Most companies provide this service at the following prices:

  • in plaster, gypsum wall - 100 rubles / meter;
  • in brick - 200 rubles / meter;
  • in concrete - 300 rubles / meter;
  • on the ceiling - double coefficient;
  • gating cost non-standard shape calculated individually.

By entrusting gating to specialists, you can count on the fact that they will offer the best plan for laying electrical communications.

Gating scheme in a panel house

Chasing surfaces for wiring is a job that you can do yourself, but you must strictly follow the rules and make sure that there are no prohibitions on chasing. Labor costs depend on the tool used and the material of the surface on which the chasing is performed. To avoid the formation of dust during the work will allow the use of a special tool - a wall chaser along with a vacuum cleaner, it can be rented.
