For our recipe, we will take, in addition to chicken meat, lard and carrots. But you can also cook such a chicken roll at home with other fillings (we will talk about them at the end of the recipe).

How to cook stuffed chicken roulade

Use thin lard no more than 5 cm in thickness for cooking. Before starting the process, rinse the lard and dry well with a paper towel. If there is skin on the fat, remove it with a sharp fillet knife. Then inside season with salt and pepper to taste, set aside.

Now let's get busy chicken fillet. Cut it into layers and beat it off with a hammer on both sides (the thickness should be no more than 0.7 cm). Spread the fillet over the entire surface of the fat.

Now sprinkle the jellied spice mixture evenly over the chicken layer. This mixture will add flavor to the finished roll and hold all the layers inside.

Cut the carrot into strips, finely chop the garlic (I used a garlic press), put everything in the middle of the layer. Use hot peppers to taste.

Now you need cling film. Use it to roll up a tight roll, tie the ends with a thread. The resulting loaf can also be tied with a strong (culinary) thread.

In several packages, put the roll in the film and lower it into a deep saucepan with cold water. Put the pot on high heat. After boiling, reduce the fire, cook the roll for 1.5 hours over moderate heat.

The finished product needs to cool slightly, and then unfold it, put it in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours. To serve, cut the roll into thin slices and put on a plate.

With a roll of bacon and chicken, be sure to put sauces to your liking. It can be mustard, ketchup, sweet and sour or spicy berry and fruit sauces.

How to cook chicken roll in the oven

This chicken roll can also be baked. This will require an oven and foil. The roll prepared as described above is wrapped in 2 layers of foil (but without cling film). Here you need to act carefully so that the loaf turns out to be even, and the foil does not break. Use a simple trick: tie the lard with cooking string, and only then wrap it in foil. Then, on a brazier, cook in the oven for 1–1.5 hours at a temperature of 180 C.

After removing from the oven, cool, cut into slices and serve (do not forget to remove the thread from the finished roll). When baked, our roll will get a beautiful crust and will look more appetizing.

Cooking Tips:

  • Instead of chicken, you can use pork, beef or turkey to make a bacon roll. Just be sure to beat the fillets well. Meatloaf It will be even tastier if you sprinkle the meat with lemon juice.
  • For the filling, you can use mushrooms fried with onions. Or put pickled mushrooms cut into slices, and add strips of boiled carrots to them.
  • When using carrots in chicken roll, remember that only boiled carrots go into the filling.
  • If using pork, beef, or turkey, cook the roll for at least 2–2.5 hours. These types of meat undergo heat treatment more slowly.
