The control valve is the most complex technical part of all water treatment equipment. Historically, Americans have dictated their standards and Russian market control valves for filters and column-type softeners.

Clack valves have always been head and shoulders above all their competitors in:

  • versatility of control valves
  • versatility of control valves
  • aesthetics of execution
  • ease of assembly, disassembly and adjustment
  • spare parts availability

On the this moment, I will tell you this - Clack WS1CI valves are the most convenient, functional, beautiful and understandable control valves on the Russian market. It's practically a Lego set. You buy a basic (not very small, by the way) set, to which you can then add a bunch of bells and whistles - all sorts of relays, sensors, a bypass assembly, you can connect valves to each other, take a signal to external devices, you can change adapters, fittings to connect the valve to the water supply different ways. Or you can also remove all unnecessary and make a back-flush valve out of it. And this is all done easily, anyone who takes up it will figure it out.

There is also a simplified three-button version of the Clack valve - WS1TC, designed as standard for three-cycle filters, but this valve has an absolutely no different body and ample opportunities for modification. You can also make a softener out of it by adding:

  • flow meter (turbine),
  • regeneration injector,
  • reagent port (salt line fitting)
  • reagent piston (regeneration piston)
  • drainage restrictor

The price will be the same as if you buy a five-button Clack WS1CI.

Clack control valve error codes

E1 1001 no valve movement when voltage is applied to the MOTOR output

E2 1002 the engine runs for a short time (stalls) - the valve does not find the position of the next cycle.

1001 and 1002 - the mechanism is stuck. It is necessary to unscrew the central clutch (with a white gear) with a service key or a screwdriver, remove the mechanism, clean it, make sure that the gaskets inside are not torn, lubricate and put everything in place. If such an error occurs at the first start after cleaning, turn the wheel a couple of turns by hand and start again.

4004 Controller Internal Error - PCB needs to be replaced

Clack valve makes handling easier household systems water treatment, and is also used in many industrial facilities. This device regulates the operation of water purification systems in iron removers, softeners and complex water treatment plants. The functionality of the device allows you to solve a wide range of tasks, which makes it popular among a large number users.

From this article you will learn:

    How to adjust the Clack valve

    Why you need a Clack valve

    How to choose a Clack control valve

What is a Clack valve

The Clack valve is automatic device from glass-filled Noril, with the help of which the filter or softener modes are controlled. If we're talking about a filter, the Clack control valve can be configured for top-down flow regeneration or simple backwashing. In the second case (when we are talking about a softener filter), the device can be configured for top-down or bottom-up flow regeneration.

The Clack valve can also be set according to the desired regeneration frequency: on demand (assuming a predetermined amount of water) and/or timed (after a certain number of days have passed). In addition, it is possible to adjust the Clack control valve so that the filter softener meets the requirements of the Water Quality Association (WQA) or NSF International efficiency rating.

According to a pre-set program, during the operation of the water treatment system, the Clack control unit receives a signal from a timer (if you have chosen time control) or a water meter (if you have chosen flow control), which indicates the need to switch to regeneration mode. After such a warning, the regeneration of the filter material or the elimination of contaminants that have accumulated in the filter during the operation of the water purification system begins.

The Clack automatic control valve stops the filtration and redirects the water flows, that is, it switches the filtration mode to the flushing mode. After the completion of the regeneration processes, the water filtration system begins to work in the same mode.

Clack valves are classified according to the functions of the electronics, connecting dimensions, controller type, drain fitting and accessories.

You need to choose a Clack valve model based on several important parameters:

    mode of operation of the water treatment system;

    system performance requirements;

    type of filter media.

Clack valves are quite popular in the fields of domestic and industrial water treatment due to the following advantages of the considered mechanisms:

    The flawless operation of the device is due to the use modern technologies, materials and excellent build quality;

    the valve is controlled in Russian, all settings are fully Russified;

    the measuring system is also adapted for Russian users;

    the presence of nine stages of regeneration;

    software allows you to set different variations in the duration and sequence of all stages of work, so you can clean the filter without harm to autonomous systems sewerage;

    the possibility of regeneration by timer, by volume, from an external signal;

    perfect compatibility with Clack Corporation's latest NHWB external control and 3-way control for Twin Alternating systems;

    the presence of "diagnostics" and "archive" modes, which allow for high-quality and timely maintenance of the filter.

Reliable assembly, precise mechanism and the ability to self-regulate a number of parameters explain the demand for Clack control valves among private customers and professional partners of our company.

Clack Valve Setting

As we have already said, the Clack valve can be configured in such a way that its work is directed to the solution specific task. We list the main options for setting the parameters of the Clack valve:

    setting the sequence of regeneration stages;

    general settings in the "softening" mode;

    general settings in the "filtering" mode;

    data and settings of the installer;

    user data and settings;

    diagnostics;

    valve data archive.

First you need to set the sequence of stages of regeneration, and then make an internal adjustment of each of them, as well as adjust the remaining parameters.

It is best to entrust the adjustment of the Clack valve to an experienced specialist. If, after completing the settings, you want to restrict access to diagnostic information, archive data and profile settings (except for the parameters "Hardness", "Days between regenerations", "Regeneration start time" and " current time”), everyone, except the manufacturer, should dial the key combination “DOWN”, “NEXT”, “UP”, “SET CLOCK”. Please note that repeated sequential dialing of the indicated buttons will help to remove the imposed prohibitions.

During normal user operation, the Clack valve screen displays information from the sections "Current time", "Reserve water resource" or "Number of days until regeneration". If you do not press any control keys for 5 minutes, then the display will display information that is displayed by a normal user.

If during these 5 minutes you make any changes to the operation of the parameters indicated on the screen, they will be taken into account by the system and fixed. An exception to the rule is the parameter "Current water consumption" from the "Diagnostics" section. The water consumption is determined by the device every half an hour.

In order to exit the setting mode of a certain parameter, you need to press the "SET CLOCK" key. The system will commit all the changes you made before exiting the installation.

If you need to move the Clack valve to another location, you can reset all data from Diagnostic mode to have the system start a new count. To do this, simultaneously press and hold for 3 seconds the "NEXT" and "DOWN" keys, and then the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons in the same way.

Sometimes situations arise in which it is necessary to carry out two regenerations during the day and then return to established scheme"Regeneration". Dual regenerations are considered possible if the Clack valve settings in Step 9S or Step 8F are set to "NORMAL" or "NORMAL + on 0".

To start a double regeneration, follow the algorithm below:

    Press the "REGEN" key once. After that, the phrase "REGEN TODAY" should appear on the screen.

    Press the "REGEN" key again and hold it for 3 seconds to start the regeneration process.

At the end of the immediate regeneration, the Clack valve will start the process again at the set regeneration time.

If you want to swap filters in the service mode without switching the “1.0T” control valve, you need to press and hold the “SET CLOCK” and “UP” buttons for 3 seconds. After changing the filters, the positions “Number of days until regeneration” and “Amount of water remaining for cleaning” will be stored in the device’s memory until the next regeneration.

Please note that the proper installation of the Clack valve body, main piston, regeneration piston and injector plugs must be checked before performing a bottom-up regeneration. Be sure to compare the correct assembly of the structure with the factory drawings and part numbers.

Why you need a Clack softening valve

Almost every one of us has experienced hard water. To understand the essence of the problem, just look at the bottom of the kettle. Everything that remains at the bottom can be attributed to the consequences of using hard water.

Increased rigidity is especially felt in places where artesian water is used. The hardness level is determined by the concentration of calcium and magnesium in the water. These substances can form the carbonate and temporary hardness of any aqueous liquid.

You can get rid of such rigidity by boiling for one hour. Scale on the bottom and walls of the kettle is undissolved carbonate. It falls out as a precipitate white color. This process is accompanied by the release of carbon dioxide.

Water, which is characterized by constant hardness, cannot be softened by simple boiling. Calcium chloride salts and sulfates simply cannot dissolve.

At drinking water with increased rigidity, a slightly bitter taste, but this is not its most negative characteristic. The use of such water can cause significant harm. human body. The concentration of certain substances negatively affects the functioning of the digestive system. Plus, hard water often leads to breakdowns. household appliances or their failure, and water pipes may become clogged or even collapse in some places. You can deal with this problem by using the liquid softening procedure. This process is aimed at reducing the level of magnesium and calcium in the water.

Many users are interested in: is it necessary to soften hard water?

In fact, soft water has a lot of advantages. The most important of them are that it is not capable of harming the human body, household appliances and plumbing equipment. Many large industrial enterprises cannot function in hard water conditions, as this leads to premature wear of the equipment.

Salts that accumulate on pipes significantly reduce the productivity of an organization. In addition, working with hard water requires high costs for service industrial equipment. Thus, water softening allows you to increase the profitability of the functioning of any enterprise.

How to choose a control valve

At the heart of the valve is a wedge-shaped or cylindrical shape(also called a poppet) mounted on a rod (rod) that moves up and down in relation to the cylindrical seat. Rod due to pressure compressed air moves to a diaphragm with a spring or a piston. The spring can both open and close the valve. This depends on the position to be taken when the compressed air supply is cut off.

Sometimes an electric or hydraulic actuator is used to control the flow. The structural differences between the body and the seat are due to the different relationship between the performance and pressure losses on the valve, the type of fluid and the flow rate at certain stem positions.

To buy a valve right size, it is necessary to take into account the parameters of the pipeline in which it is installed. Here are a few important factors to consider to help you choose the right shape for your control valve with the right seat/body combination.

  1. Pressure loss across the valve.

This can lead to difficulties in the movement of the stem. The control valve is designed in such a way that the flow of water moves in opposite directions through 2 locking elements, balancing the forces. Pressure loss can be reduced by using valves different types, for example, the "butterfly" type.

  1. Maximum consumption.

Be sure to follow the combination of the maximum design flow with largest area management. The second value should be about 30–50% of the first. It happens that some experts set the control zone at the level of 10%, and this significantly degrades the performance of the device.

  1. Controllability.

This is the ratio of the flow rates for two different stem positions. To some extent, control is due design features bodies and saddles and the dependence of pressure losses on flow characteristics. The latter are related to the parameters of the pressure pump. Controllability provides a nominal flow range with appropriate control zones (typically 30-50%) on either side of the range.

  1. Sensitivity.

This parameter depends on the controllability and the magnitude of the control action required to control with a given accuracy. In some cases, the best combination is to install a large and small valve - the large one provides the nominal flow, and the small one - the required sensitivity.

  1. Linearity.

A big advantage is the presence of a linear relationship between the outputs of the controller and the sensor. This can be achieved by selecting the appropriate characteristics of the valve or sensor. The absence of a linear relationship reduces the quality of control, and also entails the need to implement special control methods.

  1. Hysteresis.

This problem arises due to dry friction processes (adhesion) in the area of contact between the seat and the obturator element of the valve, as well as due to pressure losses on the valve. Often hysteresis is recognized as the culprit of regular oscillations in the control loop, which can be eliminated using special devices precise positioning - they can provide the desired position of the valve stem due to the large gain. In this case, the control computer does not control the opening of the valve, but only generates reference values for the positioner.
