For many car owners, the safety of personal vehicle is not an empty phrase. They resort to different ways care, repair, car maintenance. Arranging a garage is one of those ways. It would seem that the garage space does not need any significant arrangement at all. But this is a fundamentally wrong statement. From the creation of a comfortable garage space depends on human health, the safety of the car. Here, one of the first questions arises - how to make ventilation in the garage, how to organize that most comfortable space with its help? Let's figure it out.

Ventilation in the garage is important!

The garage is not a living space. Nevertheless, good ventilation needs the same as human housing. Here are some proofs of this:

  • It is not news to anyone that condensate constantly accumulates inside the garage, the air is filled with stagnant dampness. This negatively affects everything: the well-being of a person, the metal structures of the building, the condition of the car (corrosion).
  • Storage chemical substances necessary for car care, leads to the accumulation of toxic fumes. To this are added exhaust gases from the operation of the engine. All together significantly pollutes the garage air.
  • Also, vapors of combustible substances, chemicals, fuels in a certain concentration are explosive.

The organization of proper ventilation of the garage will help to cope with the listed points. Its tasks are:

  • normalization of the humidity level (a well-ventilated room will no longer be damp, stagnant air will be replaced by fresh air);
  • prevention of mold formation on the walls, in the pit.
  • removal of air containing fuel vapors, toxic substances;
  • removal of excess moisture that enters along with transport;
  • drying the body, external components of the car;
  • drying viewing hole.

The need for ventilation leads to the question of how to properly ventilate the garage. There are several options for how to arrange a change of air masses in this small building: natural, forced, combined. Let's consider each of them.

natural ventilation

The natural circulation of the air flow is based only on the laws of physics, aerodynamics. Incoming cool air has low pressure. It is heavier than room temperature, warm and humid, with higher pressure. Due to the temperature difference, pressure indicators, the stagnant warm fresh heavy air flow is displaced. Provided, of course, that the ventilation system is well established, there are no obstacles in the way of air masses.

This is the main option for organizing garage ventilation, requiring minimum investment funds, forces. It is best to implement it even at the construction stage, when you can seamlessly install ventilation pipes and openings.

To positive moments of this type ventilation includes:

  • affordable cost;
  • ease of self-assembly.

There are also negative aspects:

  • in summer, when the air temperature is higher than inside the garage, the draft will be reduced to a minimum, or even completely dry out, the ventilation will end there;
  • a change in the wind may not have the best effect on the circulation of the air flow inside;
  • small garage parameters may not be enough to create the temperature / pressure difference that is necessary for good air convection.

However, the presence of natural ventilation is already good. Let intermittently, but there will still be airing. This is much better than no air movement at all.

How to make ventilation in the garage with your own hands?

So, general scheme how to make ventilation in the garage with your own hands is quite simple, minimal in cost. The algorithm below is equally applicable to all garage ventilation options, with minor additions for each case separately.

Materials that will come in handy:

  • plastic/metal/asbestos-cement pipes
  • gratings, hood/deflector
  • pipe cutting tools
  • hole drilling tools
  • fastening mechanisms
  • sealant.

Instruction:

  1. Determine the location of ventilation openings, mark.
  2. Wipe out the diameter of the pipes based on the total area of the garage. You can build on the requirements of sanitary standards, according to which for 10 m² you need 15 cm of pipe diameter.
  3. Make ventilation openings for supply and exhaust air ducts according to their diameter.
  4. Insert pipes into openings, seal cracks mounting foam, sealant.
  5. A grille (from rodents, debris), a protective cap (from atmospheric precipitation), or a deflector (to increase traction) are installed on the external outlets of the air ducts.

There are some additions for the forced/combined methods, we will list them below. In the meantime, a few general points that are recommended to be followed in order to organize air circulation as efficiently as possible.

  • The inlet of the supply pipe inside the room is located no higher than 10-15 cm from the floor (to enhance the pressure difference).
  • The exhaust outlet is mounted a maximum of 10 cm below the ceiling (also to increase draft).
  • Ventilation ducts are placed in opposite corners of the building. This will ensure that the space is covered with as much fresh air as possible before it escapes outside.
  • The higher the chimney, the more natural draft is created. It is recommended to install in such a way that the outer outlet is at least 50 cm from the roof of the garage.
  • It must be ensured that the distance between the internal inlet and the external exhaust outlet is at least 3 m.
  • To increase the draft, it is possible to install a supply air duct with a diameter twice that of the exhaust duct.
  • Installing a deflector on the exhaust duct will also increase the draft.
  • Supply / exhaust ducts are recommended to be made without bends. The diameter along the entire length should be the same, the inner surface should be as smooth as possible so as not to impede the movement of air flow.
  • If possible, take into account the most frequent wind direction by making the chimney so that the wind does not blow into it.

With natural ventilation, the supply air duct can replace the ventilation grilles mounted below garage doors. At the same time, their total diameter / size must also be not less than the diameter exhaust duct, or better - twice as much.

Forced air exchange. Installation Features

The forced (mechanical) method of ventilating a garage room differs from the natural one by using special mechanisms that enhance the inflow / removal of air masses - axial, duct fans.

Mechanisms are installed inside ventilation openings/ducts in order to pump in/out air more efficiently. Their use requires power from the mains to which they must be connected. Otherwise, the installation scheme is no different from the above.

Advantages:

  • Efficient air exchange is produced by the amount of air masses sufficient for a garage building together with an inspection pit.
  • Ventilation occurs regardless of atmospheric phenomena, season, air temperature outside.
  • Possibility to control the process using the built-in timer, motion sensor, etc.
  • The only way to ventilate the underground garage.

To disadvantages conditionally include:

  • Increase in the overall cost of the ventilation system.
  • Increase in electricity costs.

If desired (as well as possible), the car owner can install a ventilation device with an air purification filter and a heater (air heating) inside the supply duct.

Another (more expensive) option for organizing forced ventilation of a garage space can be the installation of a monoblock device with a heat recuperator. Consists of two blocks designed for supply/cleaning/heating of fresh air and removal of exhaust air.

Combined ventilation method

Combines the two above-described ventilation methods. The removal of stagnant air is organized by a fan installed inside the exhaust opening / duct. Thus, traction is enhanced, due to which the supply masses more actively enter the building.

Mechanisms can be axial, channel (optional). Connect to the mains. In general, the scheme for constructing a combined ventilation system is identical to the natural one.

  • More efficient air exchange compared to the natural way.
  • Missing Influence weather conditions on the quality of ventilation.
  • Acceptable cost compared to the forced air exchange method.
  • Adjustment of air exchange time by means of a timer.
  • Hassle-free installation.
  • You still have to spend money on a fan.
  • Although small, but the cost of electricity will be.
  • More time to install.

Ventilation in the pit of the garage. Don't forget

If the garage room is equipped with a viewing hole, it must be constantly ventilated. Here, as in the entire building, without proper ventilation, condensate accumulates, dampness stagnates. As a result - mold on the walls, fungus, microorganisms and even insects.

As a rule, in order to ventilate, it is enough to organize the natural circulation of air masses in the pit. This is done simply. At the edges of the flooring, near the supply and exhaust channels, gaps are left (about 10-15 cm). Where air flow is planned, the slot can be made twice as large as the opposite hole to increase traction.

With an autonomous device of the observation compartment, equipment of a separate air exchange system will be required. The principle of organizing ventilation in the pit is the same as was given above.

It is important to remember that with an open exhaust gap in the pit, it is highly undesirable to put a car above it. After all, it is here that the flow of moist air mass passes to go outside through the ventilation duct. Its periodic exposure can lead to corrosion of the elements of the car body.

Efficient air exchange of the garage space is extremely important. It will protect the car from excessive moisture, provide it with drying after rain / snow, prevent the creation of an explosive situation, the accumulation of toxic fumes inside the building. Even natural ventilation will significantly improve the process of air exchange. Let not so regularly, but the room will still be ventilated.

Friends! More interesting stuff:

Ventilation is a mandatory communication system in almost any room. Its importance is explained by the need for air circulation inside the building. The car garage is no exception. One can be considered a fool who says: it is not required, they say, no one lives here. Let's take a closer look at what is needed and how do-it-yourself ventilation is arranged in the garage. The installation diagram and experimental justifications will help to understand its purpose and functions.

It can be said that in different rooms the ventilation system performs different functions, but the main one is always the same - air exchange with the outside space. The indoor atmosphere needs to be updated several times a day. For example, in the bathroom, this is necessary to remove fumes and excessive moisture when using plumbing. In the kitchen - to purify the air from vapors and gases during cooking, and in regular room- for ventilation of the room from the accumulation of harmful bacteria and temporary cooling. In the garage this system required for several reasons:

  • To protect the car. This is the most important thing that any car owner should worry about. In a damp room metal constructions are subject to corrosion. The angular edges of opening elements (doors, trunk, hood) suffer the most. Dampness makes the mechanics and electrics in the car unusable.
  • To protect the garage itself. The materials from which the construction of the garage is made are also subject to the harmful effects of dampness. Similarly, over time, the metal supports of the building are destroyed, they begin to rot wooden elements, and concrete and other binders are covered with eating mold.

According to European regulations, the airspace of the garage must be updated by 100% about 10 times a day. Regardless of the size of the building, the number of interior spaces and car spaces, absolutely the entire volume must be ventilated.

It is very difficult to think over the ventilation structure in the finished building, since it is not adapted in advance for such communications. Therefore, it is important to design a system even at the stage of preparation for the construction of the garage itself.

There are only 2 ways to ensure air circulation - natural and artificial. From this, 3 types of ventilation systems are determined: natural, mechanical and combined.

The principle of the first variety is based on physical laws without the intervention of technology. According to the rules of aerodynamics, air moves independently through two openings in the building structure.

Mechanics implies forced air exchange. Special devices, combined with one or two outlet channels, encourage air masses to move through them.

Combined system: it combines two circulation methods at once - natural and artificial.

natural system

The rules of indoor aerodynamics are based on the temperature difference between the external and internal environment. Let's try to figure out how to make ventilation in the garage using these laws. Definitely, in such an enclosed space as a garage, the temperature inside will be higher than the temperature outside. And this circumstance is used for air circulation: physically warm air tends upwards, and cold air downwards.

Thus, two holes are installed in the supporting structure of the building - one at the top, the other at the bottom. Cold air from outside enters from below. In this case, a temperature difference arises inside the garage, and the warm volume is pushed up, passing through another hole. This ensures constant movement.

For a natural system, certain installation rules are provided so that there is effective ventilation of the garage. How to properly place the elements of the system? The supply pipe for supplying fresh air is located almost at the floor - at a height of ten centimeters from the lower level of the garage. In this case, the air duct must be at least 30 cm from the ground. As an inlet, you can use special ventilation grilles built into the garage door.

The exhaust hole is installed 10 cm below the ceiling seam, and the end of the pipe is brought out to a height of 50 cm from the roof surface. Below is a diagram of the ventilation in the garage.

mechanical ventilation

This type of communication is considered excellent in relation to others and, accordingly, the most expensive. Do-it-yourself artificial ventilation in the garage provides for the arrangement of the garage with two elements: supply and exhaust equipment.

In order to keep the car in its original form, it is not enough to put it in the garage. Rooms in which ventilation is not installed or does not work properly have a detrimental effect on the condition of the vehicle. But what to do if there is none in the garage that you got? There is a way out - to create ventilation with your own hands.

Why do you need ventilation in the garage?

To the question "Do I need ventilation in the garage?" experienced car owners unanimously answer: "Yes." Irrefutable proof of this point of view is the consequences of the processes that occur with the machine in an unventilated room:

  • the destructive effect of moisture on metal parts and electronics of the car,
  • spoilage and rotting of products stored in the attic or basement;
  • the occurrence of fungus on the walls, wooden beams.

If there is no ventilation in the room, then harmful substances accumulate that adversely affect the health of the car owner.

Without a doubt, the garage must be ventilated

According to generally accepted standards, a ventilation communication system in utility rooms is equipped on the same level as residential ones. Air exchange in full volume takes place 6-10 times a day. And the air flow is 180 cubic meters per hour.

Tasks ventilation system:

  1. Removing moisture from the garage. The hit occurs along with the car during rain or snow on the street.
  2. Sucking gas and steam out of the garage, they are harmful to human health.
  3. Drying the outside of the car after driving in rain or snow.
  4. Prevention of fungus growth wooden surfaces, room walls, and corrosion of metal components.
  5. Drying the basement and attic parts of the garage.

Combined ventilation system is more efficient than natural

Types of ventilation and their device. Choose according to your needs

Regardless of the height of the garage, whether it is equipped with a viewing hole, there is a basement or attic space what material it is made of - ventilation is needed in this room. The building is ventilated equally. Carefully lay pipes in the basements, as these places are more prone to dampness and mustiness than other rooms.

Consider three types of ventilation.

  • Natural. The flow of air into the garage is due to the fact that the temperature in the room and outside is different.

For spontaneous air circulation, two ventilation openings are installed: exhaust and supply. The deflector in the exhaust hole will speed up this process. A zone of low pressure is formed around such a device, which helps to draw polluted air out of the room.

Economical option for ventilation in the garage

The movement of air flows is based on physical laws and atmospheric phenomena:

  1. Differences in the density of warm and cold air;
  2. wind forces;
  3. Air movement from the area with high pressure to a zone with less.

When installing this type of ventilation, remember the following:

  1. There will be no air circulation in summer;
  2. Draft may occur due to sudden pressure drops;
  3. It is necessary to carefully monitor the condition of the holes and clean them in time.

This type of ventilation is suitable for those for whom the fundamental principle of installation is savings.

  • Combined. Modified natural ventilation. The only difference is in the process of outflow of the processed air mass - it is performed by special equipment.

The solution will provide independence from atmospheric phenomena. The scheme is distinguished by the installation of an electric fan in the exhaust vent. The option is independent of nature and cheaper than mechanical diagram circulation. The disadvantage is that the air is not heated and not cleaned when it enters the system, so the holes must be carefully monitored and accumulated dust, dirt and frost removed.

  • Mechanical. The outlet of the exhaust air and the supply are regulated by special equipment. The forced ventilation system does not have the disadvantages that are inherent in the previous two options.

The air that enters the supply module from the street is heated and purified, and then passes through the room. The polluted stream is drawn out by the channel equipment of the second module.

Mechanical air supply and purification system

In the underground garage, mechanical ventilation is installed, because the mechanisms of the first and third types are not able to draw air into this room. This option is also good for buildings with heating.

Preparation: schemes

Before starting work, a diagram or plan is drawn up, on which the locations of the ventilation openings and pipes for air intake, outflow, the dimensions of the openings are applied, and the layout of the ventilation ducts is drawn.

Examples of such schemes are given below. For garages without basements and attics, natural ventilation is used.

The simplest ventilation system (1 - air movement in the garage, 2 - air intake holes, 3 - air outlet)

Most correct scheme looks like that:

  • from the floor to the air intake hole 10–15 cm; at the same distance, only up to the ceiling opposite wall, arrange fume hood;
  • the diameter of the hole for the outlet of the air flow is half that of the intake,
  • the ventilation pipe rises above the roof level by at least 0.5 m.

It should be noted that the scheme is designed for a garage with a height of at least 3 m. Since the inflow and outflow openings should be at a distance of 2.5–3 m from each other.

Combined ventilation

Necessary tools and materials. Calculation

To speed up the work, the tools and materials needed for mounting ventilation are prepared in advance.

  1. Perforator;
  2. Bulgarian;
  3. Sealant and heat-insulating material;
  4. Grilles and/or blinds to protect openings from external contamination;
  5. Pipes for the outflow of air from metal or plastic with a cross section of 100–200 mm.

Fans are also needed if a combined system is mounted.

Without a reliable fan, it will not be possible to make a combined system

Consider these types:

1. Exhaust duct - affordable and easy to install. Electricity consumption is not more than 100W. Built-in regulators make it possible to change the intensity of ventilation. You can also add additional sensors, which will turn on the fan at certain humidity levels. The optimal diameter of the device is 160 mm, the cheaper and simpler option is 120 mm. The choice depends on the proximity to the garage of moisture sources (rivers, lakes, ground water).

Exhaust duct fan

2. Centrifugal (radial, "snail"). They do best with extracting exhaust air, but are expensive and difficult to install. They are used in garages where they paint cars.

Centrifugal fan

3. Vortex. Devices of the third type are used to extract smoke from welding or cleaning nozzles.

Swirl ventilation systems

The best option in a regular garage for one or two cars is an exhaust duct fan. It does its job well, and at the same time is notable for its low cost.

Having drawn a diagram and selected tools, calculate the diameter of the ventilation ducts. The formulas are based on the dimensions of the garage. For example, take a room with sides of 6 and 4 meters. The area is thus 24 m2. According to the requirements and standards, ten square meters the garage needs an air duct with a diameter of 15 cm. You can calculate the diameter of the air duct using the following formula:

(S / a) * d, where S is the area of the garage, a - 10 m2, multiply by d - 15 cm of the duct diameter.

Bottom line: the diameter of the ventilation ducts is 36 cm. If there are two exhaust pipes, then the value is divided in half.

Step-by-step instructions for laying out ventilation ducts with your own hands

  • Carrying out ventilation in the garage begins with the choice of its type and the preparation of the scheme. When you have dealt with this and calculated the diameter of the ventilation ducts, prepare necessary tools and materials.
  • Then, according to the scheme, mark the places for drilling holes on the walls and prepare the pipes. The opening for the influx of fresh air will be located on the side of the vehicle entrance at a distance of 10-15 cm from the floor. The dimensions of the hole depend on the section of the pipe you have chosen (160–180 mm). You can do it as shown in the picture below. Hole diameter calculations for single-channel natural ventilation are already given in the previous paragraph.

Openings are used to bring fresh air into the room.

  • In the second step, make holes at the indicated height from the floor, which are needed for pipes that serve as an air inlet. When the holes are made, they are protected from external contamination by a grate or special blinds.

Important! If the garage is built of brick or concrete, then a perforator is used so as not to destroy the masonry and prevent the coating from cracking.

Any novice builder can draw such a diagram.

  • At the third stage, extraction is carried out. For a natural system, the exhaust duct is located opposite the air intake, at a distance of 10–15 cm from the ceiling. For correct operation the cross section of the hole for the inflow of air is made smaller (two or three times) than the diameter for the outflow. The equipment for making the exhaust channel is the same as for the supply one.
  • The air duct is made of tin or asbestos. It is inserted into a prepared place and rises at least half a meter above the roof. This factor affects the intensity of air exchange in the room.

The seams between the pipe and the wall are best filled with sealant

  • At the next stage, with the help of a sealant, the distance between the pipe and the wall is filled. When choosing a material, pay attention to the quality of the hitch. In order for the structure to be durable, the adhesion must be very good. Taking into account what the garage and pipe are made of, acrylic or polyurethane mixtures are most often chosen. They guarantee good adhesion of materials with different physical properties(wood, metal, concrete, brick).

Air ducts are thermally insulated and equipped with gratings to protect against dust, dirt and debris. Blinds and gratings prevent rodents from entering the room and damaging electrical wiring or food stored in the basement. To protect the exhaust pipe from atmospheric precipitation, a dome is built on top.

This is the final stage of building a natural ventilation system in the garage. Remember that this option is not effective in extreme heat.

In conclusion, we remind you that materials and components should be selected only at certified points of sale, then the ventilation will last for many years without causing trouble. Do care and cleaning at least once a month, and in the autumn-spring period - every week, since at this time there is a high probability of contamination.

AT Depending on the availability of the cellar, do-it-yourself ventilation in the garage will differ, the scheme and budget for the construction of this engineering system. The default room contains couples harmful substances, therefore, a single air exchange is required at least.

What is needed, requirements

In view of the periodic operation of this building, non-volatile natural ventilation through ducts or air ducts is preferable. When do-it-yourself ventilation is being designed in a garage, the diagram and photos may differ slightly depending on the presence of an underground vegetable cellar.

Scheme of natural air exchange of a garage without a viewing hole or cellar

The main requirements are specified in SP 7.13130, when transport is stored, the air must be updated hourly, with the engine running, the air exchange rate should increase to 4. Therefore, axial, radial fans are often mounted in the exhaust, supply ducts, switched on as needed by the owner.

The lack of air flow leads to the consequences:

  • decrease in the resource of a car due to corrosion of the body;
  • destruction of the load-bearing structures of the garage from excessively humid air;
  • danger of car exhaust poisoning.

Usefulinformation! The air contains vapors of gasoline, fuels and lubricants, odors from the cellar can penetrate. Unlike a home, a garage ventilation system is much simpler technically.

Various ventilation schemes, how to do it yourself

Depending on the budget of the car owner for do-it-yourself ventilation in the garage, the scheme may have several options:

  • natural - an air inlet at a level of 15 cm from the floor, an exhaust hood at a similar distance from the ceiling, a pipe is inserted into it, connected to a pipe that rises above flat roof or skate pitched roof by 50 cm;

  • forced - both air ducts are equipped with fans of the same power;

  • exhaust - the fan is mounted only inside the hood.

The supply ventilation vents are located near the ground, therefore they are equipped with nets from animals, rodents or decorated with gratings. Peaks or weather vanes are mounted on the vertical exhaust pipe to protect against the penetration of precipitation.

Air exchange inside the cellar

If there is a cellar, the ventilation scheme in metal garage makes it more difficult with your own hands.

  • an independent ventilation system can be made in the underground room;
  • the air inlet can be located in the ceiling of the cellar, the hood can exit through the roof or outside along the wall of the garage.

Organization of air exchange in the garage cellar

Helpful information! Natural ventilation vents should be on opposite short walls garage. To prevent the formation of "dead" zones in the corners of the room, supply windows should be located closer to the corners.

Supply pipes inside garage walls are relevant with a significant thickness of the masonry. If the wall is made of brick, leave square windows, decorated with bars on the outside.

The main difficulty in organizing natural air exchange is due to the lack of heating in the garage, the location of the supply ventilation ducts almost near the ground. Most often, the ventilation ducts of the cellar are clogged with frost, since the humidity from stored vegetables is increased inside it. Therefore, regular cleaning or installation of valves is required.

A normal pressure drop is considered to be 3 m vertically between supply and exhaust. In a standard garage, this is unattainable by default, so combined, mechanical air exchange systems are used.

Lookout pit

The inspection pit also becomes the "weak link" of ventilation systems. Despite the fact that it is indoors, natural ventilation cannot ensure the exchange of air masses inside it.

The only option in this case is to install air ducts near the floor of the pit, in its upper part. When using fans inside the ducts, this problem is completely absent.

Installation of forced ventilation

In most cases, for a garage, it is enough to install a fan in the gap in the exhaust duct. In this case, do-it-yourself ventilation of an iron garage, the scheme of which is given below, is mounted in stages:

  • supply channels are cut in one wall;
  • pipes are installed in them, the joints are sealed with sealant;
  • from the inside, an axial fan is mounted on the exhaust pipe;
  • a similar scheme is used in the basement.

When calculating the cross section of the duct, you can apply standard solutions, since the size of garages is usually unified up to 6 x 4 m. The regulations state that for every 10 m 2 a pipe of 15 cm section should be chosen. If you cut two holes, install standard 11 cm pipes in them, you get a significant margin.

When choosing mechanical ventilation, the hood can be mounted on any wall. The diameter of the channel completely coincides with the supply pipe. There are several types of supply and exhaust ventilation:

  • modular is mounted from separate blocks, the work of which is coordinated by sensors;

The last option allows you to reduce the number of input nodes engineering systems through walls, can be used in above ground garage and underground vegetable store. For the cellar, the recuperator is especially relevant, as it allows you not to close the vents for the winter, cold air partially heated by the outgoing warm, the vegetables do not freeze.

Most motorists are very scrupulous about the vehicle. They are on time Maintenance, install additional elements, decorate their iron horse, try to provide him with a reliable and comfortable parking. At the same time, everyone knows that it is almost impossible to keep the car in good condition in a damp garage, to protect it from corrosive phenomena. The iron horse especially “suffers” from improper storage in the spring-autumn and winter periods when the humidity rises significantly. Protect him from harm environment ventilation in a metal garage will help.

Tasks of the ventilation system

The ventilation system of a metal garage performs the following functions:

  • elimination of vapors that form indoors, removal of condensate and humidity;
  • providing air exchange, with the help of which a fresh stream enters the room and exhaust air masses are removed;
  • purification of air from gas and other chemicals harmful to humans;
  • protection against mold and fungus, metal corrosion.

Attention! Requirements for air exchange in a metal garage are regulated by SNiP 21.02.99. According to normative document optimal temperature for parking a car indoors, the temperature is +5 degrees with a humidity of 60%. Also stated mandatory requirement to air exchange: mandatory provision of a supply and exhaust ventilation system with a capacity of more than 180 m3 / h.

Do-it-yourself natural ventilation in a metal garage

The natural system for air circulation in the garage is very easy to install. This is the most affordable and cheapest way to create air exchange in a metal garage.

The principle of installing natural ventilation

Natural ventilation - outside the channel is protected by a grill

  • Overflow grilles are installed on the outer side of the gate, thanks to which Fresh air and enters the room. They are installed as close to the ground as possible and insulated to prevent the accumulation of condensate.
  • A deflector is installed, which is placed on the opposite wall to the gate. It is mounted as high as possible to the ceiling.

Important! The more significant the difference between air intake and exhaust, the more efficient natural ventilation works. You can increase the difference by installing a pipe, the height of which above the roof level should be more than 50 cm.

To increase the intensity of air exchange, the area of the supply grilles can be increased. Indicators are considered optimal when the lattice area is 2 times more area exhaust hole. Natural ventilation in an iron garage is created regulated: in the warm season, ventilation should be opened to the maximum, for that, in cold weather, the grille shutters should be kept half-closed. Do not completely close the ventilation shafts, as this will contribute to the formation of condensate in the room.

Scheme exhaust ventilation in an iron garage it is created in accordance with preliminary calculations: 1.5 cm of the duct diameter corresponds to 1 m2 of the garage area. For example, with a garage area of 13 m2, the diameter of the ventilation duct is 195 mm: 13 * 1.5 = 195 mm. When installing two ventilation pipes, this figure is divided in half, that is, the diameter of one pipe is 97.5 mm;

Mechanical ventilation system

In the event that natural ventilation does not cope with its functions, it is installed mechanical system. The mechanization of air exchange processes involves the installation of supply and exhaust structures, with the help of which air masses are forcibly supplied to the metal garage and forcibly removed from it. The pipes of the mechanical ventilation system are installed in the same way as for the installation of natural ventilation. Installation of fans is carried out in both channels, both in the intake and exhaust.

In addition to the fan, to create mechanical ventilation, the following are used:

  • weather vane-diffuser, which is mounted on the supply pipe;
  • deflector mounted on the exhaust pipe.

Combined ventilation of a metal garage

In a metal garage without a basement, the area of \u200b\u200bwhich is insignificant, it will be enough to mount a combined ventilation system. The mode of action of the design is to supply air in a natural way, while the output of the air flow is provided by means of an axial fan.

Advice! With a combined garage ventilation system without a cellar, it is ideal household fan with a power of 100 watts. For example, the SK-125S model is an installation that will provide 10-fold air exchange, which meets the established standards.

What to do: Condensation appears in a metal garage

The appearance of condensate in the form of water droplets on the walls, ceiling, and, accordingly, on the car is a dangerous phenomenon. But it must be fought, because high humidity lead to rapid corrosion of the metal, and, accordingly, to a reduction operating period the car itself.

Condensation in the garage can form for two reasons:

  • lack of heating in the garage or its poor-quality insulation;
  • the absence of a ventilation system or its incorrect installation.

Eliminating the formation of condensate on your own is not difficult, you just have to perform work on the insulation of the garage and mount the ventilation correctly. If there is ventilation in the garage room and it is installed in accordance with the requirements and standards, then you should think about cleaning it. It is possible that debris has entered the vent pipe, which reduces the efficiency of the entire system. The ventilation system can eventually become contaminated with dust, oily deposits, which are unsafe for human health.

Advice! Heating in a metal garage is best placed against the walls closer to the floor. Everything is clear here - warm air able to rise up, thereby warming up the room and displacing cold air masses. And they, in turn, will be removed using exhaust pipes located in the corners of the garage.
