Ordinary people tell stories about how they go to work, sit with friends in a cafe and sleep during breaks. To live brighter and have more cool stories in your arsenal about how you rescued princesses from the clutches of dragons, saved the world from the Forces of Evil and stole cars of civilians at your leisure, do the right thing - play games.

An important point: this is not the top generally recognized best games, these are toys recent years, in which we, the employees of 2x2, buried more than one night and which we would recommend to anyone and everyone. Believe us, we will not advise bad.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Platforms: PC, PS4, XBOX ONE

Geralt, a specialist in the destruction of monsters, travels through the fantasy world in search of the girl Ciri, who can stop the coming of the Wild Hunt (just accept it as a fact that this is bad and scary). He walks through the fields and forests, kills griffons, sleeps with beauties and jokes during breaks. And the reaper, and the player on the pipe.

Any part of The Witcher is indecently good, and with each next toy in the series, everything just gets better. This is even unfair to competitors, who a priori should be very ashamed of what they are compared to The Witcher. "Wild Hunt" is super-detailed quests, many of which hide an unrealistic cool story. All completed quests and decisions affect the final game, which is cool and motivating. The combat system here has received a lot of advantages since the second part, Signs have acquired in utility, the world is detailed and open as much as possible.

Even those who just love cool novels will like it. And adored, how much epic coubs spawned by localization!

Journey

Platforms: PS3, PS4

You are a mysterious someone, your goal is to get to a very distant mountain. The plot synopsis is described more than completely, but you have no idea what a magical and unusual gaming experience is hidden behind it. This is very meditative and beautiful game- music, graphics, landscapes - in which you will need to go through very picturesque locations.

Everything here is really unusual and unusual. No map, no hints, no multiplayer per se, but! During the journey, you can meet with another player and move with him to the same mountain. You do not know anything about your companion - except that he is a living person. You have no means of communication other than a semblance of screaming, and only at the end, after completing the Journey, do you see your companion's name in the credits. Sooooo unusual and cool gaming experience.

Grand Theft Auto V

It makes no sense to advertise GTA. Every Pokémon has known about the charms of this world since the days of Vice City. But the fifth part (aka the 15th game in the series) is something. Oh god, Rockstar blew 266! million! dollars! in game development! There are 3 main characters here at once with well-developed characters, whose stories are intertwined. The final goal is to rob the US Federal Vault, taking out more than 200 million dollars in bags and pockets. Oh my!

GTA V has maximum freedom: an open dynamic world, the ability to switch between heroes at any time, and as many as 3 endings of the main storyline. Stealing, going to strip clubs, stealing cars, loving, watching TV, doing yoga, playing Tamagotchi, taking selfies, smuggling! Everything is possible here.

And breaking news for those who slept in a hole last years: GTA V finally has multiplayer. Now all the same can be done online with your gang, and it is not necessary to have friends. But be prepared for Game of Thrones-style death - very, very sudden.

Deponia The Complete Journey

Platforms: PC

Deponia is cool humorous quest pumping logic and erudition. Perfect option for those who can't stand shooting games and consider ordinary quests to be primitive and boring. The plot of the quest is that Rufus, tired of life on a small planet littered with garbage, one by one makes the most ridiculous escape plans.

Aikyu of the level of Friends is not required for passing, do not be alarmed, but the puzzles and story are really cool and the solutions are not always obvious. Deponia The Complete Journey - one of the best representatives in your genre. The only thing is to be prepared for the fact that localization killed a good half of the jokes, so if English allows, pass in the original.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX 360, PS4, XBOX ONE

Fairy-tale cooperative puzzle-adventure with not the most intricate plot, but very powerful moral background. There are two brothers whose mother died a long time ago, and then all of a sudden the father got very sick. Only the juice of a huge tree that grows behind mountains, forests, fields, and generally very far away can save him. A strong and dramatic story that the creators managed to tell without the use of words (at least human-readable ones) at all.

There is no cooperative as such. you will play as both brothers at the same time(prepare joysticks, without them it will be hard). At first, the brain will refuse to understand how this is even possible, but over time it will get involved and even begin to enjoy such a process. Gameplay is original and intuitive: only two buttons to interact with the outside world, and two sticks to control the brothers.

There is nothing here besides the main storyline, and it goes through quite quickly - in 4 hours. All scenes and tasks are very original and atmospheric, there are no repetitive mechanics, but there are magnificent colorful landscapes. The story itself is sometimes cruel, bloody, but, most importantly, very magical and emotionally powerful.

Platforms: PC, PS4, XBOX ONE

Team online shooter from Blizzard with fantasy art. In the future, the machines still rebelled, as promised by the Terminator. But the Overwatch organization was able to overcome the rebellious robots. Everything calmed down, the guys from the organization were no longer needed by mankind, because of which they were forced to go home. But after a few years, crime gained momentum, and Overwatch members had to re-team and take up arms in order to save civilians.

Multiplayer Ideal raised to absolute. From the experience of Team Fortress 2, which is played even after almost 10 years since its release, it is basically obvious: team shooters live out of time, like Tsoi, as soon as they conquer their audience. Blizzard did not impose its game - the noise around it has risen and has not subsided since the first days of the beta release. And after the release of the server, which were designed for something inhuman, fell. The flow of those wishing to play turned out to be more than this very "inhuman".

Overwatch is very different characters, each with its own history and skills, a bunch of arenas and modes(3 cards each). Persians do not need pumping or customization, everything is decided only by your personal skills- nothing extra. Gameplay is intuitive and clear, and due to the drawing, even your girlfriend will like it: it will stick to the monitor while you are creating destroy.

Platforms: PC, PS4, XBOX ONE

The nuclear boom gave rise to the post-apocalypse. Only those who managed to get to the bunker survived. Everything is either half-destroyed or half-mutated. After 200 years, the hero gets out of the bunker and goes for a walk around the ruined world in search of his son, Sean.

Generally recognized as one of the most anticipated projects of 2015 more successful than not. Locations are worked out, enemies are very terrifying, quests are interesting(although, in fairness, there is also wild boredom like “bring me that thing that lies quietly across the road”), the overall story is gaining momentum, and in the end it turns out that the hero is involved in some kind of wildest story. For fans of the original dilogy, it will cause pain and burning below the back, for everyone else it is very playable.

Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, XBOX 360, XBOX ONE

Hipster Adventure Movie Quest, very cool interactive everyday life in which you live the life of a student girl Max. At a critical moment, a gentle creature discovers the ability to rewind time and correct mistakes. At first, the skill is used mainly for everyday student trifles, but in the course of action it turns out that the city of Max is threatened by the apocalypse, and it would be good to prevent it.

The game was released as a series, by episodes, and if the first parts are similar to a girl series with a teenage drama, then somewhere in the middle the suffering fades into the background, and the main one becomes The ultimate Twin Peaks Girl Disappearance Mystery. Every decision and action has its fruits and sooner or later it will definitely come around. Included - cool soundtrack, well-developed detective story, realism with a pleasant dose of mysticism. Disappointing, however, is the fact that the final choice is the same for everyone and does not depend on your previous decisions.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Platforms: PS4

Main character Nathan and his wife bought a house, chose the curtains to match the color of the sofas, and live a happy quiet life, until Nathan's older brother, who had been considered dead for many years, is announced. Oh yes: in the previous parts of the game, Nathan was a treasure hunter. Little has changed here: suddenly, a living brother says that a treasure is waiting in Madagascar, and the guys go in search of the mythical Libertalia.

Impossible beautiful exclusive for Sonya, which made a lot of die-hard PC players get a console. "Way of the Thief" is well-developed third-person action game with puzzles, gunfights(weapons have increased in the arsenal, and gunfights are approaching the title of ideal), action scenes at the level of Hollywood action movies and the ability to choose answers in dialogues. But be prepared for a very poor Russian localization.

Need for Speed (2015)

Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, XBOX 360, XBOX ONE

There is no point in talking about the legendary Need for Speed races - they earned their name back in the distant 2000s. This is not just a game, this is a real era. The 2015 reboot has everything that the mutated series has managed to lose in recent installments: advanced car tuning, a brave new open world, and police racing.

At first it seems that the restart of the series is not the idea of the creators, but of PR people who wanted to more gold from an obsolete product. But in fact, it turns out that the game of the 15th year incorporated all the best from the previous parts, and the output is the very essence of the Need for Speed. A must for anyone who has ever felt an adrenaline rush at the keyboard, joystick or a real steering wheel.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX ONE

Welcome to the interactive Game of Thrones. You are a Dragonborn who very conveniently comes to the province of Skyrim just when he is needed the most. The world is threatened with death by dragons, and you need to overcome a lot of difficulties in order to stop the fire-breathers and their master Alduin.

The world here is also infinitely open, the player can do whatever they want. Graphics are wildly beautiful and cause multiple aesthetic orgasms. Plus complete freedom of creativity: you can start a family, you can become a thief, a murderer, a noble knight - yes, even a princess. There is spectacular fights, the ability to upgrade certain attacks and skills. The plot is good because certain RPG engines generate their own stories which is original and captivating.

The most honest Skyrim trailer ever.

Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Here everything is as gloomy as in horror stories about "a black-black street in a black-black city." People were mowed down by a disease that turns everyone into undead, and the main character goes on a long trip to restore the white balance and stop the impending Age of Darkness. And so you go around the world, completing quests and fighting enemy creatures.

It won't be fun or just - only difficulty level 180 and fear, only hardcore. Remember "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" on Dandy, in which, dying, you found yourself at the very beginning? It's about the same, but lighter. Each creature taller than half a meter kills you in two spit, and each death throws back strongly, taking away the accumulated experience. But at least not at the beginning.

educates character and works magic with nervous system , but against the backdrop of a clear trend towards simplifying games, it is delightful and especially valuable. A must for those who really like to overcome difficulties.

Tomb Raider (2013)

Platforms: PC, MAC, PS3, XBOX 360

Tomb Raider 2013 is a prequel to the very first game in the series. Here Lara famously turns from an archaeological university graduate into a furious sex symbol for all gamers. According to the story, Lara and her expedition are looking for a lost civilization, but a terrible storm destroys the ship, and then throws all the survivors onto the shore of a seemingly uninhabited island.

When Crystal Dynamics announced that it plans to - modernize the most famous gaming woman, the world held its breath: of course, restarts are a terrible thing. But in the end it turned out very well: a perfectly executed third-person combat system, enjoyable gameplay and a realistic system for acquiring survival skills. Truth, brain-puzzling puzzles have gone into oblivion for which old Lara was so famous. But this is offset by a large number of advantages - take at least good competitive multiplayer system and Lara's chest, which retained its elasticity.

Platforms: PC, PS4, XBOX ONE, ANDROID, IOS

Killed joysticks Dendy and childhood will never be released, but time goes by. In recent years, "Mortal" is gaining momentum and evolving, and in the "top ten" it is felt especially powerfully: the bones here crunch louder than ever. For example, Sonya and Johnny Cage had children who inherited their parents' love for blood and also tear out the insides of everyone they hit. For example, in the 10th part, you can destroy, ahem, the manhood of a father by the hands of his own daughter.

New Predator type heroes, and also those who returned from vacation (for example, Tanya from part 4). All in all, perfect k-to-combo pairs for fighting. Yes, and the variety has increased: now each hero can choose priorities in battle. From controversial points - there was an opportunity ... buy Fatality. The archaic keystroke system still works, but now you can get away with it just by paying.

Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX 360, NINTENDO WII U, PS4, XBOX ONE

She is also "Look the Dog", "Watch the Dog" and how else this name was just not joked. A guy in a trendy cap is engaged in magical hacking - he hacks the phones of rich and respected people "by bluetooth". At one party, they fire him and start a chase, during which the hero's niece dies in an accident. And he decides to become an avenger.

Basic the plot is not that wow, not particularly memorable or stands out in some way. But there are funny dialogues and jokes, which smoothes the situation. All around full of beauty and detail, although there are problems with physics and textures. There will be many plot Easter eggs, hide-and-seek games, action, shootouts, racing and good missions outside of the main storyline.

True, we did not understand How do dogs have to do with all this?.

Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX 360

First-person adventure-shooter-RPG mix in which you play as a guy whose vacation doesn't go according to plan. Jason Brody (this is you, meet you) comes with friends to an exotic island where they hang out, party, take selfies, skydive, until one day they are captured by sadistic pirates. Jason manages to escape, and he lights up with a desire to take revenge on a terrible revenge.

Cool open world with frighteningly realistic graphics and a story that you won't want to break away from. Players will need to storm pirate territories, hunt all kinds of animals and evolve from a weakling to a tough guy who saved his friends and matured during the time you spent with him. Special Mast for Lost Fans.

Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX 360

A shooter that captures the imagination and strikes it to the deepest wilds. Private detective Booker receives an order: to get to a flying city, whose location is not really known, and rescue a girl from there. Then it turns out that some kind of sheer horror is going on in the world and a destructive war is about to break out.

Plot blanks are very classic- a princess in a tower, a hero with a dark past, the world is on the brink of disaster. But all this is summed up in such a way that the result is something completely new.. And although the world of the game is fictional, you still immerse yourself in it and believe: atmosphere and detail take their toll. Here, what's cool every little thing counts, only. Spectacular fights, a truly intricate story told in a movie-like form of a shooter.

Platforms: PC, PS4, XBOX 360, IOS

Something very terrible happened in the world: everything fell apart into small pieces, and the only surviving place is the Bastion. The blond guy, for whom you have to play, wakes up in an incomprehensible place and is going to go towards this very Bastion, where he learns that the fortress is destroyed, and in order to restore it (and the world) and destroy the universal Evil, you will have to make a lot of efforts than you and get busy.

Very nice and detailed walker, in which it does not immediately become clear that WTF is happening here . You travel through different locations, fight local bosses and difficulties, then move back to the Bastion, where you choose which weapons you will take and which potions you will use before the trip. Toward the middle you're already basting strategically choose equipment correctly, which adds a decent amount of pluses to the game.

Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX 460, PS4

Fantasy walker, which at first glance is very similar to Bastion (the same developer, after all), but in fact it is something completely different. You will have to play for the red-haired singer Red, whose life was recently made an attempt and who is determined to avenge fiercely for it. On her side is a huge talking sword Transistor, in which the consciousness of an unknown person who saved Red's life is placed.

Outwardly, everything is about the same as in Bastion: a third-person action RPG in which you have to travel through the most beautiful fantasy world, fight and do all sorts of small things. But the gameplay has gotten deeper since the studio's first game, more personal story, and the atmosphere is atmospheric. If you give free rein to whining, you can say about monotonous battles and a fairly short duration of the game.

Platforms: PC, PS3, XBOX 360

High-quality puzzle-experiment with fairly complex puzzles- for logically thinking masochists who like to test their thinking and do not imagine life without difficulties. The plot is simple: the main character, Chell, wakes up in one of the cells of the highly scientific laboratory Aperture and tries to escape. At her disposal is a portal gun, with which you can move yourself and other objects.

It won't be too difficult at first, but it's only at first.: Further, even primitive things will become confusing, and an empty room will turn into a quest. Extremely good localization and a lot of high-quality humor. It is bound to appeal to those who love brainstorming and want to get the maximum profit from games.

Hello friends! An overview of the best open world games in which you can run wherever you want and complete tasks that you yourself wanted to take and complete. The order of the descriptions of the games is determined by chance, it is quite difficult to say which one is the best. Each of them is good and has its own unique features, gameplay atmosphere and world. So let's go the best Open World games.

Fallout 1,2,3,4 New Vegas

Fallout 4 world area - 78 sq. km.

Fallout 3 world area - 54 sq. km.

Fallout is a whole series of post-apocalyptic computer games. The first Fallout appeared back in 1997, and immediately gained popularity among the players. Fallout has provided its own role-playing system in the game - complete freedom of action in the game, where only you decide what kind of character you will have, which path you will go, what abilities you can have with whom to communicate and whom to help. The second part came out in 1998.

Screenshots:

After 10 years, the third part came out, which completely changed the gameplay of the game and the graphics, but the same atmosphere and role-playing remained in the game. Fallout 3 was followed by Fallout: New Vegas and most recently the fourth part.

Once in an open and unknown world, you have to visit new places, see various settlements of people, mutants, traders, slavers, a cave of children, explore abandoned shelters and catacombs of the former metro. Only you decide which way to go, rob everyone and kill on your way or help everyone in need. Your decisions will determine how you end the game. You will be able to decide to blow atomic bomb a city of people or save them by deactivating a bomb, help slave traders look for slaves, or permanently stop their activities. At the end of the game, you will have to decide who should live in the post-apocalyptic world and who should die.

Grand Theft Auto (GTA)

GTA 5 world area - 81 sq. km.

GTA began its march back in 1997 and at the moment it already includes 15 episodes. GTA is an action game in which the player does whatever they want in various fictional cities and districts based on real US cities such as San Andreas, San Fierro, Liberty City and so on.

Screenshots:

Complete freedom to act, if you want to beat or kill someone, steal a car, helicopter, plane - please. Invest in a bank or in some stocks, buy a few houses for yourself, a car, a yacht. In short, a city with full possibilities, in which people will not look askance at you if you did something wrong, in extreme cases they will just take out a gun and shoot you, but it’s not scary, you can always start from the save location.

The last released GTA 5 series. In the game, we can control and play three characters by switching between them. The game has added even more variety. You can play golf, do yoga, go to the gym, and so on.

Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed world area - 10 sq. km.

Assassin's Creed is an action-adventure game with 9 episodes, each of which takes place at different times and in different parts of the world. The plot of all series is based on the traditional confrontation between two warring factions of the Templars and the Assassins.

Screenshots:

For example, the first part takes place simultaneously in 2012 and 1191 during the time of the Crusades, the protagonist of the game with the help of the Animus device will participate in the life of his ancestor. In the third part, the action takes place in America from 1754 to 1783. The game will take place in the West Indies during the heyday of piracy.

Assassin's Creed is an open world in which we can move wherever we want and complete various tasks, but unfortunately we do not influence the endings of the game. The endings happen as they are planned and we can't choose the way of the outcome. But Assassin's Creed is a game of its own atmosphere. For example, Black Flag is suitable for lovers of marine themes. Most of the game takes place on our own ship, the Jackdaw, on which we can capture other ships, board them, hunt marine animals and animals on the islands. Assassin's Creed features an unusual historical atmosphere of the times.

Mass Effect 1.2 3

The first part of Mass Effect was released in 2007. In the game, we have to play as Captain Shepard, in the distant future, when earthlings went into space, and interact with many others extraterrestrial civilizations and races. Shepard will be the first Earthman to be accepted into a special Specter unit. "Spectre" is subject only to the council of the Citadel, which includes several alien races.

Screenshots:

Traveling through space on the Normandy SR-1 ship, you will be able to move both along the tasks of the storyline and complete additional tasks. Mass Effect is not a fully open world. Yes, we can move around the station and complete the task or move to another point in space, but there is still some kind of linearity in the game, there are just a lot of tasks.

The main feature of the game is the system of dialogues with different characters that we meet in the game. By choosing the answer option, in the dialogue we can influence the actions of the character with whom we communicate, separate branches of the dialogue also appear, with a good leveling of the ability. We can use charm or intimidation to influence the player. The way we interact with the characters is the relationship we have with them. Shepard can have sex with an alien. The finale and the death of many of your allies and assistants in each part can determine the degree of preparation of the squad and Shepard himself, who you send on a certain task, and so on.

Mafia II

Mafia II world area - 25.9 sq. km.

The first part of Mafia which was released in 2004 was a breakthrough at that time. Excellent graphics and gameplay (at that time, of course), the atmosphere of the game, where a simple taxi driver earning crumbs will suddenly get lucky and have the opportunity to become a member of a mafia family. In terms of atmosphere and plot, I can say this is one of the best games. Yes, there is an open world in it, but it is not as diverse as in Mafia II.

Screenshots:

Mafia II only came out in 2010. If you haven't played this game, you've missed out on a lot of the gaming industry. America after the Second World War, a young soldier Vito comes home for a few days to take a break from the war. He meets his longtime friend Joe, who made him a certificate that he was no longer fit for military service. And Vito, along with Joe, work for the mafia, start working for the mafia to become full members of the family. As a result, the heroes will face the question of friendship or family!?

If you want to have your favorite car in the game, then just steal it, drive it into the garage, change the numbers and paint it over. Need money for good clothes? Then steal a car and sell it, or rob a jewelry store, or, in the end, rob the clothing store itself.

While riding around the city, you can listen to the radio and music of those times, change stations, complete tasks for various characters, look around the city, or move through the main story at any time. This game has an open world wonderful world with an atmosphere in the style of "The Godfather" in which you are completely immersed and enjoy.

The Elder Scrolls

Area The World Elder Scrolls V Skyrim - 39 sqm km.

The Elder Scrolls is a series of computer role-playing games. The most popular was the Skyrim series released in 2011. Like previous games in the series, Skyrim allows the player to freely travel around the vast game world, exploring it and independently finding new places and tasks. Skyrim takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim on the Tamriel mainland, two hundred years after the events of the previous game in the series.

Screenshots:

The main storyline of the game is connected with the appearance of the powerful dragon Alduin in Skyrim; the main character - the Dragonborn - is tasked with stopping the return of the dragons and defeating Alduin. Skyrim retains the large and open world concept of The Elder Scrolls series.

The player can freely roam throughout the province of Skyrim, which includes nine large cities, many small villages, as well as vast expanses of wild lands and high mountains. In cities, the player can indulge in activities such as cooking and potions, farming, working with ore, or blacksmithing. At the same time, the developers note that the gameplay can take about 300 hours.

The game received many positive reviews and awards. Was the best game of the year and the best role-playing game of the year. Our site also includes .

Sleeping Dogs

Release date 2012 Sleeping Dogs is a Hong Kong action film with a focus on martial arts and oriental themes. The main process of the game is based on fights, and missions begin in the middle of the game, in which weapons take center stage. The city map was created based on the real-life city of Hong Kong.

Screenshots:

Sleeping Dogs invites players to take on the role of Wei Shen, an undercover agent tasked with destroying the Hong Kong Triad from the inside. As players discover neon-lit streets and bustling shopping arcades, a story of loyalty and betrayal will unfold before them. In order to destroy Hong Kong's criminal gangs, Wei will infiltrate a criminal triad criminal gang. What can I say, this is an open world in which the main task is to fight using various items around you and the opportunity to explore gaming Hong Kong.

Far Cry Series

Far Cry 4 world area - 32 sq. km.

Far Cry 5 world area - 49 sq. km.

Specifically, about the last part of the game and the best part worth playing. Far Cry 3 release date 2012 One of the action genre, the fourth part is only improved, but the gameplay is the same. Specifically about the third part, the main character, Jason Brody, goes on vacation with friends to an unusually beautiful tropical island of Rook Island. Having made a parachute jump, he and his friends are captured by local pirates. He manages to escape after which he gets to the head of the local resistance. You will have to go through a difficult path from a simple guy who has never held a weapon in his hands to a tough fighter.

Screenshots:

In Far Cry, the hero can move around the island from location to location, picking up and completing various tasks, which he may or may not complete. Unlike the second part, which many call, to put it mildly, a so-so game, this part really surprises with its open world. When you start to explore the island in search of adventure for your fifth point, you simply immerse yourself in this open world, forgetting about the main storyline in the game. Is this not an indicator of a good open world in the game?

South Park The Stick of Truth

At the time of writing this review of open world games, the very popular South Park Stick of Truth game is out. If you know the popular cartoon South Park, then this game is based on it. A game where everything makes you smile or laugh. For example, super blows for the main characters are the use of their own farts. You can launch Stink Spell, Whisperer or Dragon Roar at the enemy. The game has a very small world, limited to a small town, but it is interesting to explore, meet new characters, receive tasks, and also scrounge other people's apartments.

Screenshots:

In the game, you can fight Nazi zombies, use an anal alien probe to move through walls, fight in a reduced size with gnomes right under parents making love and dodge daddy's eggs in time. In short, a lot of interesting things during the time you will have something to do in the game. The game is played quickly and in the same breath, and in the end you regret that there are so few tasks. In general, I recommend the game.

Batman Arkham City

One of the best Batman games, a city filled with action-adventure criminals. The game includes puzzles, the active use of "Detective Mode", which highlights the skeletons of enemies, gives hints and serves to perform various examinations, such as tracking the flight of a sniper bullet. The player has access to a criminal database that tracks the main villains around the city.

Screenshots:

In addition to the main ones, there are also secondary tasks with the participation of key characters. The player can move silently, avoiding prisoners and other enemies. You can also use gadgets to take out enemies without much noise. If Batman enters the fight, the improved combat system from the previous game kicks in, allowing you to dodge multiple enemies at once, quickly react to hits from objects, and use all the gadgets in battle. Free movement around the city is a little difficult, as various gangs under the leadership of the Joker, Penguin and Two-Face have completely occupied it

Dragon Age 1,2,3

Dragon Age is an award-winning fantasy RPG developed by Canadian studio BioWare. The action takes place in a fantasy world created specifically for this series, in the era of the mythical Middle Ages, on the mainland of Thedas, which lies in the Southern Hemisphere, for the most part in the kingdom of Ferelden. There are races in the game: humans, elves, dwarves, qunari. All races, except for dwarves, have an innate ability to magic. In addition to the "physical" world in the universe of the game, there is also a "world of spirits", the so-called Shadow, in which demons also live.

Screenshots:

Huge world. Over 80 hours of gameplay and a large global map with player freedom. An epic story that is completely created by you. Choice unpredictability. The player can start the game by choosing one of six backstories. Decide what choice to make - it will be a good deed or a cruel one, it depends only on you. The development of the story and plot depends on the decisions you make and the actions you take during the game. Furious fights with enemies. Fight against huge and terrifying creatures. Use over 100 skills and spells in battles. Decapitate opponents and use destructive magic that tears apart the enemy from the inside.

The Witcher 1,2,3

World area The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - 136 sq. km.

The game world is based on the works of the Polish fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski. It differs from most fictional universes in the absence of a clear division into black and white. The developers note the maturity of their game world, as well as the fact that their characters are driven by ordinary human (or inhuman) needs, passions and feelings, and not some abstract forces like good or evil

Screenshots:

The game world is inhabited by various races - humans, elves, dwarves, as well as a wide variety of monsters. Some characters in the dialogues literally quote the text of Sapkowski's works. In the process of passing the player many times have to make a choice of further actions, which can greatly affect the plot. The consequences of the choice are periodically shown in the form of stories or insights that the protagonist sees.

Gothic (Gothic) 1,2,3,4

Ghotic 3 world area - 76 sq. km.

The universe of the Gothic series consists of a mainland and an island part. The mainland consists of Myrtana, a forested plain in the center of the mainland, Nordmar, a snow-covered rocky area in the north, and Varant, a desert in the south. In addition, there is a large island of Khorinis and a group of South Islands south of Varant. Once the worlds in video games were no bigger than your neighborhood, but technology does not stand still, progress allows developers to create virtual universes of simply fantastic proportions. From how big they can be, your jaw may drop, and therefore hold it tight, now, in our top, I will tell you about biggest game worlds.

3rd place: Fuel

The third step of our top is occupied by the post-apocalyptic Fuel race. In it, the developers fit 14,000 km (sq. m), devastated by global warming of American land. This is more than the area of one of the largest cities in the world, Sydney. To drive a car from one end of the location to the other, you will have to spend more than one hour of time (if you drive in a straight line). Fuel has a really huge world, and that's why it gets into our top. However, its developers cheated a little, and some locations are painfully similar to one another, and it is for this reason that the third place.

Runner-up: The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

What will happen if we take Austria and Hungary and unite them?! It will turn out ... no, not the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but Daggerfall, the second part of the famous RPG series games Elder Scrolls. The size of the location in this game is equal to the size of the above countries combined. The approximate area of all locations available to the player is 160.000 km (sq), and to walk through the map on foot, you will need more than three real days. At the same time on the way you can meet 750.000 characters. For its incredible scale, the world of Daggerfall gets into our top, but the game is limited to just one planet. And that is why the second place.

First place: No Man's Sky

But the world of this game has no boundaries at all, No Man's Sky is not just not stuck on one planet, there are a whole nunnel of them in it. As the developer of this game, Sean Murray, said: "In order to visit all the planets in our game, although for one second, you will need 585 billion years. "And I didn’t even want to calculate what total area the planets have (you can calculate it yourself), since not a single PC can withstand such numbers. And even without taking into account the fact that most planets are not interesting, as the creators promised us, No Man's Sky still rightfully takes the gold of our top, because its world is incredibly huge.

Well, that's all, the top games with the largest game world are completed, all games are recommended for review. (Minecraft is not here, since the original had an infinite world, and this does not fit into our framework of understanding.) Good luck on the battlefields!

We live in a golden age where there are plenty of great open world games on the market. Here is a list of our favourites.

It's a great time for games with an open world and many virtual sandboxes, in which everything depends solely on the choice of the player. Of course, they have their own stories, story missions, quests and goals, but players are free to complete them in the order in which they enter.

From fantasy worlds to entire gaming galaxies, from modern cities to post-apocalyptic wastelands, the best open-world games give gamers the ultimate decision-making freedom to do whatever they want, whenever they want, while having a compelling story in the process. your own adventure. So, Here are the most outstanding open world games for PC.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Odyssey was a milestone for the entire franchise, changing much of what the Assassin's Creed series was known for. The Odyssey has transformed itself into a full fledged RPG. At the same time, it continues the tradition of having an incredibly large open world filled with small details, colorful landscapes and various quests.

“They say that size doesn't matter, but The Odyssey only benefits from the sheer scale of Ancient Greece, especially since each location is different from the next,” our review writes.

It is a vast world to be explored and explored, and each part of it has its own unique atmosphere: from the arid wastelands of Crete to the verdant plains of Arcadia. This is not only the biggest, but also the most beautiful game from Ubisoft.”

Wide undersea world Subnautica games and a variety of underwater life in general make up a magnificent and amazingly huge open world in the video game industry. Games literally are rarely this flawless.

I admire how the light rendering and rendering make each biome a distinct underwater creation, so alien and yet so familiar. I like to swim after different creatures, even aggressive ones. At such moments, I happily explore the system of underwater caves, while forgetting to leave luminous signs that would help me go back.

To be honest, the imitation of life here is at a very basic level. Nevertheless, Subnautica is getting rave reviews for creating an incredible illusion of an ecosystem. Big fish eats small and their respective personalities and physical features matter. And it doesn't matter that most of them look pretty good against the backdrop of a deep sea abyss. And between these studies, by the call of natural curiosity, you can follow the plot. No more words so as not to spoil the sci-fi mystery.

The game is definitely worth the money: the developers managed to transfer real locations to virtual world with such precision and attention to detail, as well as such a wonderful atmosphere, that they turned out to be even more attractive than their real prototypes.

Los Santos looks much bigger than GTA 4's Liberty City, and even the whole state of San Andreas, which we first saw in 2004 - as a result, Rockstar gave us a game made to such high standards that they clearly surpassed themselves myself.

In addition to the excellent storyline and the real madness that is happening in the vastness of GTA Online, everyone is waiting for about 100 hours of chases and gunfights on land, on water and in the air, which will appeal to all lovers of the genre.

Assassin's Creed Origins

The world of Origins is by far the best in the entire game series and one of the best open worlds that has ever existed. Our reviewer Chris liked how Ubisoft worked out the locations of Ancient Egypt and made them lively despite the huge area.

Cities and towns are teeming with locals, farmers, workers and soldiers. There is a huge amount of wild life (which can eventually be tamed), from vicious crocodiles and hippos that live in the waters of the Nile, to lions and hymens that loiter along the sand dunes of the mountains and flamingos with white herons that take off into the sky when you rush on a horse near them.

Gold can be found in the Thar Desert. After playing for 35 hours trying to complete the main quest, Chris never managed to visit all the places on the map. This means that there are still some quests, characters, and societies left in the game that you can still look at. Assassin's Creed: Origins proves that Ubisoft is able to rekindle interest in a well-worn game series through simple craftsmanship.

At the same time, the company does not have to add dubious and low-quality content. Nevertheless, being in the areas of Ancient Egypt is great. Now you can explore every inch of it without killing people, thanks in the form of a tutorial mod.

Decently so buggy, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open-world RPG whose ambitions outstrip its problems, for the most part. Here is not only a part of the Bohemian Middle Ages, but also a complex of imitation of (conditionally historical) life and death.

If you are caught stealing, you will have to spend some time behind bars. If you draw your sword during a fistfight, your opponent is more likely to back off or even apologize. Nobles will be more willing to talk to you after you take a shower. If your reputation in the city is high enough, the locals, seeing you on the street, will exclaim your name and praise you.

It goes on and barely touches on everything else. The detail in the simulation of life here is pretty absurd, but Kingdom Come has managed to put it all together at a pretty good level. From start to finish, you play as a naive, vulnerable and unremarkable young man. Shadows of small dangers hang over the cute fool Henry, filling the world with mysteries and dangers that we are looking for in a huge open world.

Forza Horizon 3 is a racing game, but the game isn't just about racing. Before the players appears a huge and beautiful sandbox full of city streets, picturesque beaches, green forests and giant deserts, recreating a large part of Australia.

Here we always have something to do: racing, special tasks, special stunts, collecting bonuses, not to mention a decent fleet, where each car is worked out to the smallest detail. Forza Horizon 3 is a series due to its scope, variety and fun to play.

In the game Stalker, the open world can be called the main enemy of the gamer. Gamma radiation, multiple anomalies, and radioactive storms can shorten the life of newcomers to a few moments. In each building, there is a high probability of stumbling upon marauders or terrible mutated creatures. Ammo and armor are a rarity in this world, and a sense of alienation reigns here in almost every location.

But many experienced stalkers will confirm that the Zone inexplicably attracts them. Explore the abandoned Ukrainian factories and try to come to terms with the lifeless silence. After some time, you will realize that the destroyed world of Stalker is beautiful in its own way.

A technical breakthrough, The Witcher 3 is a milestone in the history of open-world gaming as it uses all the capabilities of today's gaming systems to its fullest to create a compelling environment where every detail is designed and feels natural. The gloomy swamps of Velen are just an aperitif, after which the main dishes await you in the form of a huge Novigrad and the northern region of Skellige - one of the most beautiful locations in the history of gaming.

Here you can spend hundreds of hours moving between islands, completing various quests, encountering witches, killing monsters and playing Gwent with noisy locals. Yes, the cities in The Witcher 3 are literally teeming with life, unlike other free-world games that can seem rather dull compared to this one.

Here, at any time, you can simply send the hero in an arbitrary direction and still find something - and this speaks of the quality of the detailing of the open world.

Not every game has an open world as vast as Elite: Dangerous. You have to sit at the helm of a spaceship and fly across the galaxy Milky Way, along the way fighting with pirates (or becoming one of them), undermining asteroids, transporting and selling goods, or simply discovering the unknown stars of the planet, as well as entire systems.

Whether you're playing solo or online, you'll always find adventure among the 400 billion solar systems featured in Elite. Of course, the case will not do without aliens.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

One of the highlights of Assassin's Creed since the release of the second game, Black Flag masterfully combines the familiar elements of parkour and sailing through the luxurious Caribbean archipelago. Small islands, whales, various forts and colonial fortifications - all this awaits you in the vastness of the ocean, and the events that are standard for the Assassin's Creed series will unfold on the largest islands. Against the backdrop of a frankly weak third part, Black Flag looked like a breath of fresh sea air.

The cities are smaller and the story is more pointless, but it's not every game where you get to destroy a port with your own hands. Imagine your ship's guns tearing apart seemingly solid walls as you run across the battlefield, hunting down an enemy commander with pistols at the ready. It is at such moments that you realize how good the local open world is. In addition, storms are beautifully recreated here.

Walking through the world of Morrowind is very similar to walking through the streets of the Victorian era - you can see that it was not without the intervention of technology to recreate the image, but everything looks surprisingly realistic. A sort of view of the world, frozen in time, which both frightens and attracts. Morrowind has become a real bridge between modern spectacular, but soulless 3D blockbusters and enchanting role-playing games of the last century.

Thanks to well-known mods like OpenMW and Skywind, it's entirely possible that Morrowind's popularity will continue in the coming years. The world of the game continues to amaze and delight just as it was 15 years ago.

The full potential of the open world in Metal Gear Solid 5 is only revealed when the player stops using a helicopter for every mission and starts to move on foot through two huge locations (Afghanistan and the border between Angola and Zaire), acting in RPG style. Stealth action from the Kojima Productions team encourages freedom of action, and the progress system generously rewards the player for the most decisions made.

It all starts modestly: with a weak pistol in hand and futile attempts to hit enemies in the head, but at the end of the game, gamers can already attract opponents with a mechanical arm, raise tanks with balloons and call an artillery strike on the bears. Perhaps all the components of a great game are in place.

The stylish and pixelated 2D universe presented in Starbound is richer than it looks. You are waiting for quests, fights with ordinary enemies and bosses, exploration, and interplanetary travel. Carrying out excavations on the next planet, studying new solar systems or building your own town with friendly NPCs, you will realize that the world (or rather worlds) of Starbound is so pleasant that you want to spend as much time in it as possible.

This is certainly not the deepest game on the list, but it attracts with its unbridledness and level of fun. It is not always possible to see such a huge open world, which is a real playground for experiments, and the famous grappling hook and endless parachutes make it easy to move around all corners of this tropical paradise.

I'm sure you'll barely touch the ground as you quickly move through the air from one point to another, wreaking havoc and destruction along the way. In Just Cause 3, we saw a more impressive scale, but in this game the open world is many times more interesting.

There is something alluring about a ruined world, and the Mad Max wasteland is a delight to the eye with its stunning views. From industrial locations to lifeless deserts and lakes filled with toxic waste, the local world is fraught with danger, but everything is built on this. In addition, you can explore the local expanses on a makeshift car, whose body is covered with spikes, which will be very useful in a collision with all the madmen that inhabit the local expanses.

The gameplay in Mad Max may seem monotonous and quickly boring to some, especially when the game forces us to get out of the car and move around on foot, but, nevertheless, the adventures of Mad Max are real high-octane pleasure.

The entire Saints Row series is an inventive satire of the entire gaming industry, but don't jump to conclusions when you see a slightly empty city from Saints Row 4. unique weapons and moves straight out of wrestling make it the closest thing to Crackdown you'll find on PC, but there's also a ton of humour.

In favor of the game is a gun that allows you to inflate enemies until they explode, and a dubstep gun, the rate of fire of which depends on the costume worn on the character. These facts alone are enough to at least try out the game.

Looks can be deceiving: Westerado is a game with a stunning open world that gives the player an incredible level of freedom. The plot here does not shine with originality - we are looking for a certain madman who killed our entire family, but the identity of the criminal changes with each new passage.

During the exploration of the dusty world in the style of the Wild West and the search for the killer, you are free to do whatever you want - at any time you can accuse anyone you meet of the aforementioned crime. If you wish, you can even shoot any NPC right during the dialogue. Be a hero, bandit or whatever. The choice lies entirely with you.

A harsh post-apocalyptic wasteland is supposed to be boring by definition, but Bethesda has been honing its own formula for decades to make Fallout 4 the most intense place possible. Yes, the game in the end turned out to be not as revolutionary as its predecessors, but it is still interesting to participate in hostilities in Boston densely populated by people and mutants. On the outskirts of the town of Diamond City, endless fights boil, while in the wasteland, survivors fight brutal mutants who are trying to devour everything that moves.

With the exception of Minecraft, this is the only game where gamers can change the world around them. Townships are being freed up to use the land of the locals to build towns with conveniences like running water and turrets to keep intruders away. And since the game was based on an advanced version of the Creation engine that underpinned Skyrim and Oblivion, it became a real paradise for modders.

And, of course, with mods, it only gets better. Follow the link for a selection.

Thanks to PlayStation Now and Xbox One backwards compatibility, this Bethesda masterpiece made it to our list. Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion has stood the test of time. It's filled with enough quests and memorable characters (yes, I'm talking about you, Glarthir) that you'll immediately want to shut yourself off from the world and spend hours trying to get the highest rank in the Thieves Guild or return giant potatoes to their rightful owner.

Once you get out of prison in the prologue, you can do whatever you want, even postponing the mission to save the world indefinitely. That would be in real life it could have been the same.

This is the best game out there, if you get used to it, of course. Just like in Minecraft, entire planets are generated in Dwarf Fortress in a matter of seconds. And everything is not limited to the creation of realistic rivers and continents. The local system generates real civilizations with their own stories, wars, heroes and even religious beliefs. Sometimes civilizations do not even survive the process of world generation.

In these cases, we stumble upon the ruins of their buildings, rebuilding them for our fortress, or find hidden treasures in the role-playing game mode. Many will be put off by the ASCII interface, and before starting the game it is worth watching a couple of training videos, but it is worth recognizing that at the moment this is one of the most advanced open worlds, which, moreover, is regularly updated with fresh updates and patches.

The open world is usually associated with complete freedom and carefree fun, but Sunless Sea smashes this concept to smithereens. An intriguing plot and complex (and sometimes cruel) gameplay temper the character so much that you involuntarily enter the role of a character. The ominous atmosphere will not be to everyone's taste - and certainly not to those who do not like to read, but the game maintains the set pace from the very first seconds, and the recently released DLC is another reason to return to adventures full of black humor in the sea.

Since Far Cry 2, the series has each time offered the player a shootout in new exotic locations - from Africa and tropical islands to the Himalayas. Far Cry 2's setting, unique approach to action scenes, and camaraderie system quickly made the game a critical acclaim. It still looks decent today, but since then Far Cry has added excellent stealth and a cooperative mode, and the mesmerizing snowy peaks from Far Cry 4 simply cannot be ignored.

With each new part, the game became more and more intense, so in parts 3 and 4, great attention was paid to capturing and holding various roadblocks. You can approach this task in an open world in different ways - by combining an extensive arsenal and covert assassinations in close combat. Like its predecessors, Far Cry 4 boasts excellent fire physics. Especially well it is noticeable in moments when everything goes completely according to plan.

What if we imagined the open world not as a hostile environment where you need to focus on survival, but as a foundation for building your own world? Many games have tried to replicate the success of Minecraft over the years. Some of them, like Terraria and Starbound, succeeded noticeably, but the original, which has become a symbol of an entire generation, continues to grow before our eyes with each new patch.

It's pretty simple for the survival genre, but it's great as an interactive constructor - people build incredible worlds in it. Minecraft is not just a great open world game, but a real cultural phenomenon.

It may not be the most beautiful of worlds in this game, but the complete freedom of action that is given to the player in Mount & Blade: Warband more than compensates for all shortcomings. You are waiting for travel through giant locations with medieval villages, cities and castles, where you can collect your own army to fight enemies (you can, of course, do it alone, but it's not so fun).

The combat system here is one of the best on the PC, and the ability to choose the style of passing can be added to the list of pluses of the game. Complete quests, join any faction and become its leader...or just explore the world at your own pace. And if you pay attention to a lot of mods, then you can transfer your adventures to the worlds of Star Wars, "" and other iconic universes.

The world of Skyrim doesn't revolve around you. Somewhere in the wilderness, a necromancer is trying to revive a skeleton. At the same time during the day, you meet a gang of bandits trying to defeat the giant (the earth rest in peace) or wander into a nearby village, which is attacked by a dragon at the very moment when you, well-fed and satisfied, leave the tavern. Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is made up of many such stories that surround you everywhere: even if you avoid any major settlements, you will still complete at least 30% of the quests on your way.

The game world is full of interesting things to do: there are so many amazing things to see, so many unusual creatures to be chopped to pieces, so many goods to be stolen from so many merchants, and so many spooky Dwarven ruins to be explored... oh yes, and fight dragons. After playing Skyrim for even as much as 100 hours (this is the beginner level), you will not go through all the quests and kill not all the bosses. It is difficult to overestimate the impact of this game on the gaming industry around the world. To get an idea of what he has set for the next Elder Scrolls 6, we recommend that you dive into the world of Skyrim right now.
