Well pump installation important point in the performance of the water room to the room. Therefore, we will tell you today how to properly install the pump in the well.
Installation of the pump in the well is done only after its correct selection. Otherwise, you won't get the expected result.
Now we will gradually figure out how to install the pump in the well. The video in this article will show all the stages of the work. Also, instructions for installing different pumps will be offered.

We take into account the characteristics

V retail There are many types of this product, which differ not only in external features, but also in characteristics. You can see this in the prices and in the photo.
The price will be quite diverse, it will depend on the power and the manufacturer. Let's briefly talk about the characteristics of pumps that you should first of all worry about as a buyer.
We present the most basic characteristics.

Power

This indicator is quite important. The pressure of the supplied fluid will also depend on it.
So:

  • Manufacturers indicate the pump power in kilowatts or in watts (kW or W). This indicator allows you to understand how much work this particular device can do per unit of time.
    So, the greater this characteristic, the higher the pressure the pump motor will create and the greater the volume of liquid it will pump out under more difficult circumstances.

Attention: Please note that choosing a pump more powerful than necessary, you will expose yourself to many troubles. For example, the pressure in the pipe will be too strong, and it will be inconvenient for you to use water.
If too much water is pumped out over a certain period of time, the pump will often turn off, and this, of course, will negatively affect its service life.

Performance

Pump performance is measured in liters per minute. It depends on the power of the pump, but it can show much more clearly how many liters of water the device can pump out within 1 minute.

How to choose a well pump, given the desired performance

When choosing a well pump, you should calculate the total water consumption by all points of its use:

  • These points in a private house can be kitchen taps, a shower, a toilet bowl, watering fixtures.
  • When calculating, you can take into account the following norms for water consumption in a private house:

Attention: Calculated indicators do not mean that the pump will pump several cubic meters of water from the well every day - no one needs this, besides, the well will not provide such resources.

  • For the pump, it is important to ensure that all points of its use are only at specific peak hours, when family members want to wash dishes, take a bath, and water the garden at the same time. Then, if you purchase a pump that has a lower performance than required for points of use, various unpleasant situations can arise.
  • For example, one person is in the shower, which is equipped with a water heater with running water, another person turned on the washing machine. It is clear that less water will flow into the water heater, and therefore a person taking a shower has a risk of scalding.

pressure

This indicator is measured in meters. It provides supply and creates the necessary pressure in the above-ground part of the plumbing system.
So:

  • To determine the pressure, it is necessary to calculate the digital indicator of the height to which the water should be raised, and the duration horizontal pipe on which it will be run.
  • The pressure is calculated when water passes through a horizontal section of the pipe, taking into account the fact that the pressure decreases by one meter for every ten meter section of the pipe.

Head calculation using an example:
The pump is located in the well at a depth of 8 meters, the building is located at a distance of 20 meters from the well, the water must be raised to the second floor, which is 4 meters high. In this case, the minimum pump head is calculated as follows: 8 + 2 + 4 = 14 meters.

How to choose a well pump

Having made the calculation of all the necessary characteristics, it's time to choose the type of well pump. Based on where the pump is located during use, there are submersible and surface devices.
What is the best pump for a well? The answer will not be unambiguous, since each type is used in its own area and has its own merits. It is worth studying them in more detail.

Surface pumps

This type of pump is mounted directly on the surface of the earth.
They are designed to take water from a depth of about 6-9 meters from the surface. That is, they cannot pump water out of either deep wells.
So:

  • Surface pumps are in demand due to their affordable price and comparative ease of installation. Surface pumps are centrifugal and vortex, depending on their design.
  • At the vortex pump average depth suction, so it is used to increase the pressure in the plumbing system. In contrast, the centrifugal well pump is capable of pumping water from a depth of up to 9 meters, and therefore it is perfect for lifting water from shallow wells.
  • Usually, surface pumps are not produced separately, but as a set of special pumping stations, where, in addition to the pump, there are also automatic elements that are designed to automatically control the on and off of the device, and are also used to maintain a constant pressure value of 1.5-3 atmospheres in the pump.

Attention: This indicator is sufficient to ensure the uninterrupted operation of home appliances (geyser, washing machine, dishwashing machines).

  • If you settled on choosing a surface pump, then you should keep in mind that if during pumping the water level drops to a critical level exceeding 6-9 meters, the pump may not only turn off, but also break down.
  • Although current pumps are as protected from such failures as possible, it is worth asking your pump dealer for more detailed information about this. But, nevertheless, to increase the depth of the intake, the device is equipped with an external ejector, although this makes the pump uncomfortable, capricious and rather noisy, which is especially not very pleasant.

Submersible pumps

Such pumps are designed to work directly in the well and are able to pump water already from a great depth. Such pumps distinguish between borehole and well pumps.

So:

  • The latter often have a lower intake hole, which makes it possible for it to function even with partial immersion.
  • Separate modern appliances equipped with a float switch that can turn off the pump if there is no water. , unlike wells, are of smaller diameter. Therefore, it is convenient to immerse them in narrow wells and wells.
  • The borehole pump is designed to pump out water, which contains mechanical impurities. These pumps can operate close to the bottom of a well or well.

Attention: Automatics can be installed on the deep well pump, with the help of which you can make the water supply system autonomous. And if you decide to do this, then you need to foresee everything and moreover in advance. There is a separate article on this topic on our website.

Submersible well pumps have many advantages, but there is one drawback - high cost.

Materials needed for the production of pumps

When choosing a pump, special attention should be paid to the materials from which the body of the apparatus and the place to work are made. The highest quality devices, which, of course, are the most expensive, are made of of stainless steel. Slightly cheaper units have a body made of plastic.

Installing a surface pump

In the event that you intend to use a surface pump only in summer time years, then its installation will not be accompanied by any difficulties.

So:

  • Installing the pump in this case will include installing the unit near the well, filling it with water, lowering the hose into the well and then connecting the pump to electricity.
  • In order to pump out water, a suction hose is often used, which has a strainer and a check valve.
  • When the pump is turned off, the check valve prevents water from flowing out of the pump, the filter protects the internal elements of the pump from mechanical particles.
  • During pumping, it should be borne in mind that the water intake hose should be in the most even position so that there are no deflections, and it should also have some slope to the surface of the source. The pump is connected to the water supply or irrigation system using a falling pipe.
  • It will be much more difficult to install a surface pump for use in the cold season.

Attention: It will be necessary to provide for careful insulation of the pump housing. For this purpose, the pump is placed in a caisson (iron or reinforced concrete container), which is additionally insulated with foam. In addition, all water pipes must be laid underground at a depth of at least 1.5-2 meters.

Installing a submersible pump

Installing a submersible pump in a well is done entirely by hand. For this, it will not be necessary to invite a specialist, therefore, family budget won't get hurt.
Now let's see how to install submersible pump in the well in more detail:

  • The pump is fixed in the well by hanging it on a strong cable, which is pulled through all the holes in the well cover. Therefore, before you mount the pump in the well, you should choose the right cable for it.

Attention: The use of a metal product is not entirely effective, as it will rust and become unusable after a while. It is more expedient to choose a cable that has a special PVC coating against corrosion and you don’t have to worry about if the pump falls, then it will need to be taken out of the well. Also, a dense nylon cord is used to fasten the submersible pump.

  • The pump is installed in the well in such a way that water is taken at a depth of at least 30 cm from the well bottom. Otherwise, the pump will draw silt, sand and other dirt along with water, and this, in turn, will lead to pump failure.
    Today, there are types of pumps on sale, where water is taken through a pipe that is connected to a floating filter.
  • The filter is located below the water surface, so it stops suspended particles from entering the pump. These are best for wells that have a sandy aquifer.
  • When installing a submersible pump, it must be ensured that during use it does not come into contact with the well walls.

Attention: If this is observed, then you need to put a special rubber ring on the body, which softens the blows against the walls of the well.

So, installing a pump in a well is not difficult, and anyone can do it. Having made the choice of the pump, and having carried out it correct installation, you will spend time in a villa outside the city in comfortable conditions without wasting valuable time to lift countless buckets from the well.
It is much better to use this time usefully by resting on fresh air with your family.

It is difficult to imagine a modern well without a pump - a device for supplying water. Such units are capable of supplying water to a height of up to 70 meters. There are two types of devices: outdoor and underwater. The former are used to supply large volumes of water, and the latter for agricultural needs.

Common Mistakes

Most of the breakdowns of the water supply apparatus are associated with improper fixation and fastening of the device. Typical mistakes:

Choosing a device for giving

Before proceeding with the installation, the pump must first be selected. On the modern market There are two types of devices: for wells and downhole devices.

Their design is practically no different. The difference between them is in size, shape and price. The borehole pump has an elongated cylinder shape, which facilitates its immersion in a narrow well.

Kinds borehole pumps:

  • Centrifugal devices pump water through an engine that sucks fluid from the well and pushes it into the pipeline. This type of device must be properly operated, namely, to ensure that the pump does not run dry, that is, does not work without water, otherwise it may burn out. Common models: Pedrollo, ZDS, Grundfos. The average price is 4.8–48 thousand rubles;

  • The vortex pump is used for watering the garden. In shape, it resembles a metal disk with blades. The built-in motor drives the blades, which feed water into the hose under enormous pressure. Popular models: Watomo Mini, Rudes, SPRUT and others. average cost is 2.5–4.5 thousand rubles;

Vortex pump for watering fruits
  • screw pump used for pumping water with a high proportion of impurities and large abrasive particles. By external form screw devices remind round cylinder from stainless steel. Popular models: Sprut 4S QGD, and Sprut QGSa5. Average cost: 15-18 thousand rubles.

  • The vibration pump consists of non-rotating elements. This type of device supplies water through electromagnetic field, opening the stem for a fraction of a second. Each movement of the rod creates a slight vibration, for which the pump got its name. Common models: "Brook", "Harvest", "Aquarius", "Summer Resident". Average price: 3 thousand rubles.

trench digging

Pump installation begins with preparatory work. Note that devices used exclusively for watering the garden do not need preparatory work (we are talking about external devices). Digging a trench is carried out only if you plan to install an uninterrupted water supply system to the house.

Step-by-step instructions for performing preparatory work:

  • Dig a trench from the house to the well with your own hands;
  • Make a small hole in the wall of the well for a plastic hose;
  • Fill the trench 10 cm with sand, creating a kind of cushion for the thermowell;
  • Now you will have to install the protective sleeve for the hose. Insert the hose into the protective lens. Carefully measure the length of the hose, it should freely reach the bottom in the well.

Pipe connection

For subsequent installation, you will need polyethylene pipe, couplings, fittings and connecting elbow. Tip: it is better to choose a pipe according to the size of the pump, otherwise you will not be able to connect the water supply system with your own hands.

Measure the required length of pipe and cut off the excess. Lay the rubber hose on the ground and attach the cable coming from the pump pump to it. If you purchased a device without a built-in valve, then it should be installed - chamfer the tube and attach the valve to the device.

To prevent the cable from falling into the well, it must be attached to the hose. Tape the hose and cable around every 40-50 cm. Why not use wire? Steel wire can pinch the cable, resulting in broken contacts. Note that you cannot resort to wrapping the cable and hose with wire if you are using a vibration or screw pump.

Pump mount

It remains to fix the device in a stationary state. For these purposes, you will need a cable and a piece of reinforcement. Usually the device has a special eye to which the cable must be attached. If not, then you will have to come up with another way to attach the cable. Use synthetic rope as it carries well high humidity and has a long service life.

There are two types of reinforcement fastening - through a hole made in the well, or external. In the first case, the smooth edge of the reinforcement, together with the cable, is passed through the hole in the well. The curved end is dug into the ground together with the protective sleeve for the hose. In the second case, the reinforcement is dug into the ground or welded to some metal object near the well. The cable in this case is launched through the top of the well.

Additional devices

In order for the do-it-yourself water supply system to work correctly and not fail, you will need additional devices:

  • A hydro-storage tank is used to maintain a constant pressure in the water supply. In addition, the device eliminates the need for frequent switching on and off of the pump. A hydrostorage tank is also capable of providing the water supply apparatus with additional power in the event of a power outage;

The pressure switch automatically turns off the device if the water level in the well drops to a critical level. The device also activates the water dispenser if the water level rises above a critical level. Note that the pressure switch saved more than one device from breakdown.

Comfortable living in a private house depends on many factors, and its water supply plays an important role here. If there is already a well on the site, then the issue is half resolved. But to ensure a full-fledged water supply, you will need to choose a suitable pump, otherwise it will be difficult to get water from a deep and narrow hole, to put it mildly, do you agree?

At first glance, installing a pump in a well seems quite challenging task. Here, as in any case, there are a number of important nuances. Therefore, before proceeding with its solution, it is worthwhile to thoroughly study this issue. We will help you understand the intricacies of installing pumping equipment.

Useful tips for installing surface and submersible pumps are set out in this material. Also here are photos and videos with expert advice that will help you better understand the intricacies of editing.

First you need to select and purchase a suitable pump, as well as a number of materials necessary for its successful installation. The pump is usually taken submersible, while it is very desirable that it be centrifugal.

Unlike centrifugal models, they cause dangerous vibrations in the well, which can lead to the destruction of the soil and casing. Such models are especially dangerous for sand wells, which are less stable than artesian counterparts.

The power of the pump must match the productivity of the well. In addition, the immersion depth for which a particular pump is designed should be taken into account. A model designed to work at a depth of 50 m can supply water from a depth of 60 meters, but the pump will soon break down.

Submersible centrifugal pump – optimal choice for a well. Its performance, dimensions and other indicators should be correlated with the characteristics of its own water source

Another risk factor is the level of drilling quality. If an experienced team drilled, the well will be better able to withstand the destructive effect. And for wells created by one's own hands or by the efforts of "shabashniki", it is recommended to use not just a centrifugal pump, but special models for wells.

Such devices better tolerate the loads associated with pumping water heavily polluted with sand, silt, clay particles, etc. Another important point is the diameter of the pump. It must match the dimensions of the casing. It is important to take into account the features of the power supply of the pump. For wells, both single-phase and three-phase devices are used.

For four-inch pipes, finding equipment is easier than for three-inch pipes. It is good if this moment is taken into account at the well planning stage. The greater the distance from the pipe walls to the pump housing, the better. If the pump passes into the pipe with difficulty, and not freely, you need to look for a model with a smaller diameter.

Preparation of related installation materials

A pump stuck in the casing can be a major headache. And it is necessary to pull it out (as well as lower it) with the help of a special cable. If the pump is already equipped with a polymer cord, you must make sure that it is of high quality and of sufficient length. Sometimes it makes more sense to purchase this item separately.

It is considered that a reliable cable or cord should be designed for a load that is at least five times the weight of the equipment attached to it. Of course, it must tolerate the effects of moisture well, since part of it will constantly be in the water.

If the device is suspended relatively shallow, less than ten meters from the surface, you need to take care of additional depreciation of the equipment during its operation. To do this, use a piece of flexible rubber or a medical tourniquet. A metal cable or suspension wire is not suitable as it does not dampen the vibration but may destroy the mount.

A special electrical cable is used to power the pump. Its length must be sufficient so that the cable lies freely and is not under tension.

To supply water from the pump to the house water supply, special plastic pipes. Designs with a diameter of 32 mm or larger are recommended. Otherwise, the water pressure in the system will be insufficient.

For the installation of a submersible pump, use special cable, which is designed for long-term work under water. Its cross section must comply with the technical requirements specified in the product passport.

Pipes can be used both metal and plastic. About connection metal pipes there are disagreements. Some experts object to a threaded connection as less reliable. It is recommended to use flanges, and the bolt should be on top, this will prevent it from accidentally falling into the well.

But the threaded connection in wells is used quite successfully. During installation, winding is mandatory. Some experts recommend taking linen or Tangit sealing tape instead of the usual FUM tape or tow. Linen winding is additionally strengthened silicone sealant or similar material.

The characteristics of the water supply pipe should be selected in accordance with the conditions of its operation. For depths up to 50 meters, HDPE pipes are used, designed for a pressure of 10 atm. For a depth of 50-80 m, pipes capable of operating at a pressure of 12.5 atm will be needed, and for deeper wells, pipes of 16 atm are used.

In addition to the pump, pipes and cord or cable, it is recommended that you stock up on the following materials before installing:

  • clamps for fixing the electric cable on the pipe;
  • check valve;
  • pressure gauge;
  • shut-off valve for the water pipe;
  • steel mount;
  • power cable, etc.

Before connecting the pipe to the pump, a nipple adapter must be attached to its outlet. Usually, modern submersible pumps are equipped with such a device, but if it is not, this unit must be purchased separately.

It should be remembered that for pumping a well immediately after drilling, i.e. for removal from the well a large number very dirty water, such a pump cannot be used. It will quickly fail. Usually, the well is pumped with a separate pump, which is cheaper, and when working with dirty water functions better.

Rules for installing a surface option

Surface pumps are not often used for this type of water supply, as they are only suitable for shallow hydraulic structures up to eight meters deep.

And yet, this option has the right to exist, and its installation is no more complicated than the installation of submersible equipment.

Surface pumps are easier to install and cheaper than submersible models, but they are only effective for wells up to eight meters deep.

Mount the device as follows:

  1. The surface pump is installed in a special caisson or a separate room.
  2. A hose of suitable length is connected to the suction port of the pump.
  3. A non-return valve is attached to the other end of the hose (a protective measure that prevents water from draining when the pump is finished).
  4. A protective mesh filter is installed on the valve, which prevents the penetration of various contaminants into the pump housing.
  5. The hose is lowered into the well.

At this point, the installation can be considered complete and a test run of the pump can be made. To install such a pump in a well, a special adapter is often used. In this case, the hose is connected to the adapter, and the adapter is connected to the pump. The rest of the installation procedure is exactly the same.

It is a little more difficult to install a surface pump equipped with remote ejector. In this case, two hoses must be lowered into the well. In addition to the suction, a pressure hose is also mounted. It is connected to the side fitting of the ejector using a special outlet.

In some models, it is recommended to use not plastic pipes for water supply, but a special rubber hose. In any case, before starting work, you should carefully study the technical data sheet of the product, as well as the installation instructions attached by the manufacturer.

When installing the water supply pipe, it is important to ensure that it is as even as possible. The fewer obstacles for immersing the structure in a narrow casing pipe, all the better. Then the pipe is connected to the corresponding nozzle of the pump.

Another important point is the waterproofing of all joints. At the connection points of the electric cable, in addition to heat shrink tubing additionally, special couplings are used. The power cable also needs to be carefully straightened, aligned and laid along the water pipe.

After the water supply pipe and cable are connected, they begin to install the cable (cord, rope), which will hold the device at the desired depth. The stainless steel cable is threaded into the eyes intended for this and fixed with a special device. Then the cable is also laid out exactly next to the cable and pipe.

The general scheme for installing a submersible pump and connecting all necessary elements to the house water supply will help to better understand the procedure for performing installation work

Now you should take the fixing clamps or special clips, and carefully connect the cable with them, electrical cable and a pipe. The connection must be sufficiently tight, but not excessively rigid. If the clamp clamps these structures too tightly, it can damage them.

Step #2. Immersion of the pump in the well

When all the structures are connected, the preparation can be considered complete. You can start installing the pump in the well.

First, a special rubber gasket is put on the casing pipe and a head is installed. Then the pump is gently passed into the hole in the head and begin to slowly lower down.

The water supply pipe is connected to, for example, a storage tank or a special adapter. Connect the power supply and check the operation of the system. When installing the protective device, the correct current value must be selected.

If this moment is missed, the device may overheat. As a result, the stator winding is often shorted. Sometimes there are surges in the voltage supplied to the motor, or it remains too low all the time. All these situations are fraught with an early breakdown of the device; in some cases, the pump will simply have to be completely replaced.

Step #3 Determining the duty point of the pump

During the installation of the pump, one more important step- determine the characteristics of the pump under real load. The information indicated in the passport of the device, in fact, may turn out to be very far from what was expected. It is necessary to measure the filling rate of a specific volume, i.e. calculate water consumption per unit of time.

In addition, you should use a pressure gauge to determine the pressure that is created in the water supply when the pump is running. You will also need to measure the current consumption during operation of the device. To do this, special conductive tongs are attached to it.

Before starting the installation, you should study in detail the instructions and the passport of the pump, and at the end of it, set the point of operation of the device in real conditions

After the necessary measurements have been made, they should be compared with the manufacturer's data specified in the technical documentation of the product. If it turns out that the real indicators exceed those recommended by the manufacturer, you should slightly cover the pump valve.

As a result, additional resistance will be created, which will bring the device parameters back to normal. Thus, the point of operation of the device is verified and set in different modes of operation.

For connection check valve with a water supply pipe use a special brass fitting. The connection must also have a special driving sleeve. This measure will prevent compression of the pipe in diameter and compensate for the excess stress created by the compression fitting.

The fitting, like all connecting elements, must be of high quality, designed for increased tensile loads. Otherwise, the pipe may simply pop out of the fitting. To connect the opposite end of the HDPE pipe to the outlet on the head, use the same compression fitting made of brass.

On sale there is a special electric cable for submersible pumps. It is it that must be used to connect to the pump. Substitutions for lesser quality material are unacceptable. The power cable is connected to the pump cable by soldering, it is better not to use twisting in such an important place. The junction is closed with a heat shrink sleeve.

To fix the cable and cable on the water supply pipe, you need plastic clamps. They are installed every 2-3 meters. This measure helps to avoid accidental tangling of the cable during the lowering of the structure. Instead of clamps, you can use electrical tape.

Plastic clamps can be used to fasten the cable and cable to the water supply pipe. A special adapter will allow you to securely connect the pump to the pipe

For the sake of economy, a special cable is used only in the area where it will be immersed in water. The rest of the distance is covered by a conventional PVA cable.

In any case, the cable section must comply with the manufacturer's recommendations specified in the pump passport.

At the junction power cable the pump cable is soldered. After that, the cable is closed with a special heat-shrink sleeve. To install it, you will need a building hair dryer.

The pump may only be hung on a stainless steel cable. Neither ordinary black steel nor its galvanized version is designed for continuous operation in water.

Video #2 A visual demonstration of another pump installation experience:

It is very important to perform all operations for the installation of pumping equipment in the well correctly, since any negligence can result in a breakdown or breakage of the cable.

There are situations when damaged from working out. This leads to the complete loss of the structure and makes it necessary to start drilling from the beginning. Attention and care will help to install the pump in the best possible way.

A submersible pump is one of the main devices for supplying water to a house. The equipment is selected based on the needs of the user and the parameters of the water supply source. Installation of a submersible pump can be done by professionals and independently. How to mount the equipment on your own, this article will tell.

Types of submersible pumps

By purpose, all submersible pumps can be divided into three large types:

  1. . The equipment is capable of lifting water from great depths and transmitting it over long distances;

  1. wells. Submersible pumps designed for installation in a well have a lower power, which affects the head and performance issued by the device. Outstanding representatives well pumps are devices of the type Kid and Brook;

  1. . Used for pumping contaminated water from pools, basements, drainage wells.

Installing a submersible pump yourself

The installation of a submersible pump depends on the type of equipment, depending on the place of its future placement.

Installing a pump in a well

To install a submersible pump in a well to provide a country house drinking water, necessary:

  1. lay a water pipe that will connect the equipment in the well with plumbing fixtures located inside the building;

Depth water pipes should be more than the depth of soil freezing in the region.

  1. bring a power cable to the well, with the help of which the submersible pump will be connected. The wire can be laid on the surface of the earth in a specialized protective sleeve or together with water pipes. In the latter case, the cable will be less susceptible to technical damage;

  1. on the upper ring of the well, attach a bracket to hold the pump. If the depth of the water supply source is more than 20 - 30 m, then for the convenience of removing the pump, a special metal formwork can be made. For shallower depths, the simplest bracket is suitable, to which the pump will be fixed with a metal cable;

  1. the pump is connected to the plumbing system;

If the equipment is not equipped with a non-return valve to prevent the passage of liquid into reverse direction, then it is recommended to mount the device additionally.

  1. power supply is connected. It is desirable to attach the cable to the pipes located inside the well with insulating tape. This will avoid any damage that could disable the pump;

  1. the prepared system is lowered into the well to the required level and fixed on the holding device;

The first start of the pump must be controlled. At the same time, the correct operation of the device and the tightness of all are checked.

Installing a pump in a well

The pump is installed in the well according to the principle similar to the installation of the pump for the well:

  1. at the first stage, water pipes are laid to the well and consumption taps;
  2. the pump is connected. A drainage pipeline and a power cable are attached to the equipment. The connection diagram of the submersible pump must be included with the device;
  1. all wires and pipes are fixed with insulating tape to prevent damage and entanglement;

  1. the prepared structure is lowered into the well to a certain level;
  2. the pump is fixed on the head.

The head of the well is not only a holding device for the pump, but also protects the water supply source from various items, leaves, other debris. The head is also the link between the pump and the house's water supply system.

  1. a drainage system is connected to the head.

The correctness of the work performed and the commissioning of the device are checked. If you have problems installing or connecting the equipment, you can get advice from professionals on how to connect the submersible pump correctly. For this, it is recommended to contact the equipment manufacturer.

You can learn more about the process of installing the pump in the well by watching the video.

Connecting the accumulator

If desired, a hydraulic accumulator can be connected to the pump. Connecting a submersible pump to a hydraulic accumulator will allow:

  • prolong pump life. A reservoir of water is created in the accumulator. When the sanitary ware is turned on, water is primarily consumed from the tank and only when the critical liquid level is reached, the pump turns on. One-time activation of the pump satisfies the needs of users and refills the tank. Thus, when using a hydraulic accumulator, the frequency of switching on pumping equipment is reduced, which leads to an increase in the period of operation;
  • reduce the number of pressure drops due to the use of several taps at the same time;
  • protect the water supply system from hydraulic shocks that can occur when the pump is turned on.

The diagram for connecting the accumulator to the submersible pump is shown in the figure:

The accumulator cannot be installed without a pressure switch, which is triggered when a small liquid level is reached in the tank.

Installing the pump in a well or well is quite simple. The main thing is to choose the right equipment and prepare everything in advance Additional materials in the form of connecting fittings, a check valve, additional electrical wires, and so on.

Walk on water with a yoke. Raise buckets of life-giving moisture, winding a rattling greasy chain with a bucket on the well gate, admiring the whimsical play of reflections in the depths. All this is extremely romantic and healthy. Alas, today we do not have enough time for this, and often physical strength. Everyday conveniences are more important than homespun truth. Not all happy owners of suburban real estate benefit from central communications. Not everyone managed to drill their own artesian well. Those who draw water from a traditional well are forced to think about how to turn it into a modern, comfortable source of water supply. Faced with the problem of choosing equipment, readers ask whether it is possible to use vibration pump in the well, how to choose and install it correctly.

The answer to the question of which pump is best for a well depends on many factors. In particular, the characteristics of the well itself, the quantitative needs of the owners of the house in water, the need to create pressure in the home water supply and, of course, the cost are of importance. This is about complete set equipment for water supply, and not just about the pump. To organize a full-fledged water supply for a home water supply and a garden-garden irrigation system, you will also need a water storage tank and automation, which will ensure that the parameters of the water supply network are maintained constant and the devices are protected from overloads. Let's make a brief overview complex systems"pump + drive + automation":

Water pumping station with surface pump

A ready-made pumping station is a very rational option for the water supply of an individual house, but only on condition that the depth of the well is relatively small. The surface pump included with the station can only lift water from a depth of 10-15 m. However, for most wells, unlike deeper wells, this is just right. The advantage of the station is that for moderate money, the consumer receives a fully equipped 3 in 1 system. It includes, in addition to the pump, automation and a small hydraulic accumulator (membrane tank), with which you can create enough high pressure in the plumbing. Only the suction hose goes down into the well.

It is advisable to install a pumping station in technical room at home, only the supply hose will go down into the well, which simplifies its installation and operation

Submersible centrifugal pump + diaphragm tank

The advantage of centrifugal pumps is a significant performance at high lift height, which is especially important when used in a deep well with a high flow rate. Unfortunately, most of the "village" wells cannot boast of either full flow or depth. The latter indicator often indirectly determines the quality of water: as a rule, the deeper, the cleaner it is. Submersible pumps are perfectly combined with membrane tanks, hydraulic accumulators, capable of creating and maintaining high "city" pressure in the water supply system. The only drawback of the centrifugal pump + membrane tank kit is the significant cost.

In addition to borehole pumps, which can also be used in wells, there are special "well" models adapted to specific operating conditions. For instance, Grundfos series SB.

Submersible vibration pump + open storage tank

The main advantage of vibration pumps is extremely low price. Additional advantages: unpretentiousness to the presence of pollution, reliability, durability, high maintainability. The lifting height that a vibration pump can provide is quite large, the performance is noticeably less than that of centrifugal pumps. But for wells, these opportunities are more than enough. Minus - "vibrators" cannot create high pressure in membrane tank. Because of this, it is recommended to use them in tandem with an open storage tank located at the top of the water supply. The pressure, of course, is less than in the membrane one, and is not as stable, but it is enough for ordinary domestic needs and irrigation of the site.

One of the advantages of a vibration pump is the relative simplicity of design, a small number of moving elements

We especially emphasize that the “vibrator + open storage tank” system, unlike alternative options, is easy to fill and run on your own. Just as easy to drain. This makes it the optimal "cottage" solution when the water supply system has to be conserved annually for the winter.

The vibration pump is switched on/off by a float switch installed in the storage tank. To prevent the tank from overflowing, it is equipped with an emergency overflow.

Is it possible to use a vibration pump in a well

Of course it is possible. However, it should be borne in mind that vibrations from a working device are transmitted to environment. If the aquifer of the well is located in stable soil (coarse sand, dense clay, rocky ground), it does not matter. If in quicksand (dusty sand, quicksand loam), vibrations will be washed out of the soil small particles, which can lead to cloudy water, and in some cases even to a decrease in the amount of water entering the source.

In any case, the vibration pump is much cheaper than analogues. If the main thing for you is not price, but comfort, we advise you to first of all pay attention to pumping stations.

How to choose the right vibrating well pump

The pump should be selected according to two parameters: lift height (pressure) and performance. Head - the distance from the suction port of the pump to the inlet of the supply pipe into storage tank. The productivity should roughly correspond to the needs for water and, if strictly adhere to the rules, should not be higher than the flow rate of the source.

A little about the severity of the rules: if the pump performance exceeds the capabilities (debit) of the well, with prolonged drawdown, the water level in the well may fall below the pump suspension mark. And until it recovers, not water will enter the pump, which plays the role of lubricant and coolant, but air. This is fraught with increased wear and damage to the pump if it is not turned off in time. To a greater extent, pumping stations are sensitive to "dry running" and centrifugal pumps. To avoid this, a dry-running sensor connected to a relay is lowered into the well or well, which will turn off the pump if the water level drops below the critical level. Or use more expensive pumps that are already equipped with such protection. Most vibration pumps are equipped with protection against overheating, but not against dry running. This is not an ideal solution, but not the worst either: if the water level in the well drops, the pump will turn off, although not immediately. Whether to install additional protective automatics against dry running is a moot point. On the one hand, as expected, it can extend the life of the pump. On the other hand, automation can cost more than the pump itself, and is the game worth the candle in this case? You decide.

When determining the characteristics of a submersible pump, one should be guided not by the brief data of the manufacturer, but by the graph of the interdependence of indicators. For example, the well-known "Brook" according to the passport has a pressure of 60 m, its productivity is 1.4 m3 / h. But these are the maximum possible characteristics for certain conditions. Let's look at the graph: for example, with a lifting height of 25 m, the real productivity will not exceed 0.8 m3 / h.

How to install a vibration pump in a well

There is nothing complicated in the installation. The pump should not be lowered too low so that it does not raise turbidity. If the level allows, it is better to place it no closer than 1.5 m from the bottom. But you can't go too high either. It is advisable to determine the flow rate of the well and, based on it, for a specific brand of pump, calculate the dynamic level of the well, to which water can fall during long-term drawdown. And hang the pump a little lower. The manufacturer, as a rule, limits the maximum suspension distance from the water surface.

When determining the height of the pump suspension, they proceed not from the static, but from the dynamic water level in the well, which is determined based on its flow rate and pump characteristics

The pump must be securely fastened. Stainless steel cable is ideal for suspension, but ordinary steel wire wrapped in polymer braid will do, provided that it is soldered at both ends. Nylon can also be used. Unlike the "eternal" stainless steel cable, the service life of steel and nylon is limited and their condition must be monitored.

The pump is hung in the center of the well

Otherwise, everything is simple: you need to lay a supply pipe from the house to the source, bury it below the freezing depth of the soil, insulate the well cover so that the pipe does not freeze. If the water supply in the house is assembled correctly, the connections are tight, the open storage tank and the system will begin to fill immediately after the pump is turned on.

Installing a well vibration pump with your own hands is realistic if you have basic knowledge in the field of plumbing and some free time. If there is no opportunity to deal with this issue on your own, we recommend that you involve trusted professionals in the task.
