Laminate is one of the most popular floor coverings. Natural color and texture give the room coziness and warmth. At the same time, it is difficult to surprise anyone with such material. The most common option for laying laminate flooring is longitudinal. Further in the article, the diagonal laying method will be considered.

Pros and cons

This type styling gives spectacular appearance room, adds volume, while the length and width do not visually decrease. Also, this method will look relevant in long and narrow rooms. indoors complex shape it is undesirable to choose longitudinal laying - all the flaws will be visible, so another option should be chosen.

The advantages of such styling include:

 • The ability to hide uneven walls. If the room has more than four corners or the walls are not parallel to each other, such styling will help hide almost all the flaws. With longitudinal laying, all these shortcomings will be clearly visible;
 • Happening in small rooms visual magnification volume, especially when the room is not occupied by furniture;
 • Clearly emphasizes the naturalness of the coating;
 • With asymmetric windows, diagonal laying allows for better and more uniform penetration of light into the room;
 • in square and rectangular room such laying of a laminate will give a special beauty. To do this, it is advisable not to make the floor monotonous, but to choose several colors and combine them correctly;
 • If it is necessary to connect two rooms, the transition of the floor from one to another room will be less noticeable;
 • With the right combination of straight and diagonal laying, your floors will look amazingly beautiful;
 • Easily determine the focal point of a room. In the corners from which the coating pattern comes, it is necessary to place something large that attracts the eye: a fireplace, a chest of drawers, corner sofa or a large floor mirror.

The main disadvantages include:

 • Increased material consumption and a large amount of waste. Material consumption increases by about a quarter of the actual floor area;
 • A large number of time for calculations, sketching the plan and for the workflow itself;
 • A small room with asymmetrical walls is the most inconvenient for this type of work. Much more waste will remain;
 • In case of moisture, especially on cheap material, swelling or changes in material properties are possible. Only an expensive laminate can withstand changes in humidity or a small amount of water.

We calculate the costs

To start calculations, you need to know these parameters: length, width, area, number of angles, degree measure of angles. We also determine the laying angle of the laminate itself. Most often, an angle of 45 degrees is chosen due to the convenience of calculations. An angle of 30 degrees is less commonly used, the rest are almost never used due to the complexity in calculations and drawing.

To correctly calculate the number of elements, you need to know exactly the floor area, the length and width of each part. You also need to remember the geometry. There is a universal formula for calculating if the laying angle is 45 degrees, it looks like this: Number of elements = (room area + (floorboard width x room width x 1.42)) / area of one floorboard.

As an example of a calculation, you can take an area of 6x9 m. The width of the part is 10 cm, its length is 1 m. The quantity will be = (6 x 9) + (0.1 x 6 x 1.42) / 1 x 0.1 = 548.5 floorboards . We can conclude that to cover a room with such dimensions, 549 elements will be needed. At the same time, you should always take a stock: it is recommended to take 10% more than it turned out in the calculations, that is, 549 + 10% = 604 parts.

For angles other than 45 degrees, there are no universal formulas, so it is easier to use just such an angle.

Ways

There are two installation methods:

 • From the center to two opposite corners;
 • From one corner to the opposite.

The first option is chosen when working alone. When working together, you can choose both the first and second options. Together, you can start from the center and move to different corners.

There are also some styling tips:

 • Don't stop at the cheapest laminate. During installation and over time, various defects may appear;
 • Before installation, the material must be kept for a day in the room where it will be used. This is necessary in order for the laminate to get used to the temperature;
 • Work should be carried out in a warm and dry room.

Technology

Before starting work, you need to prepare the necessary tool:

 • Hacksaw or jigsaw;
 • Hammer or mallet;
 • Square;
 • Roulette;
 • Pencil or marker;
 • Scotch;
 • Stationery knife.

It is also best to draw up a drawing plan before starting work. diagonal layout, which will clearly indicate how many boards are needed and how to properly lay them. This scheme will help both when buying material and when installing it, putting the drawing in front of you.

First you need to carefully clean and make the floor smooth and clean. After that, the substrate is laid on the entire surface of the floor. Joints and seams are sealed with adhesive tape. Excess pieces are removed with a knife.

It is necessary to decide whether there will be a room without thresholds or with thresholds. If there are thresholds, you need to calculate the gap from the material to the wall and make a workpiece in order to observe this gap.

We start laying from the corner of the room. It is always necessary to take into account and cut holes for pipes in advance.

When joining the first and second rows of laminate, you must either ask someone to stand on them or use a weight. After that, you can safely continue to work.

Laying parts obliquely with your own hands is necessary in the same way as when laying bricks. It is necessary to make offsets of 25-35 cm so that the coating is stronger and does not deform at the joints.

Trimming parts must be done at the same angle. You can use a pre-prepared template, and for an angle of 45 degrees, you can use a regular square.

When a row consists of more than one floorboard, they will first need to be assembled in a row. Only then can a number of parts be laid at once. You can immediately assemble a trapezoid with corners, but there is an option to assemble only long parts, and measure and saw off the corners separately. For perfect compaction of parts, you can use a hammer or rubber mallet.

According to this technology, row after row goes to the opposite corner. At the end remains little corner. It is necessary to mark it correctly and carefully insert it into the right place.

For waterproofing, the joints of the elements are pre-coated with a hydrophobic compound or silicone.

Display rules

In order to properly lay the laminate, it is necessary to saw it correctly.

To do this, you must follow some rules:

 • Strict adherence to the angle that you have chosen to work. It is best to make a template and work from it. Sawing is best with the tool you are used to;
 • When working with a jigsaw, there should be increased speed. This is necessary to avoid chips and burrs. At low speeds, an even cut will not work;
 • Cutting with a grinder is not difficult if a disc for metal or laminate is installed.

Laying linoleum, subject to the rules of calculation, is not difficult. The process itself will be simple, if you properly prepare the surface, choose necessary material and be ready to go to work.

There are two main ways to lay laminate: straight and diagonal. The first option is easier for beginners, but it is suitable mainly in a narrow, elongated room. If it is close to square in shape, it becomes possible to work diagonally - and you must be able to do it properly.

Pros and cons of the method

Often among the disadvantages of laying laminate diagonally are increased labor intensity and complication of calculations. More material will have to be used up - the amount of waste is doubled and tripled even among the most skilled and experienced people. But still, there is a significant advantage: attractive appearance and the ability to create a spectacular design. A glance moving along the long joints between the panels perceives this way of decorating the floor better.

Diagonal technology allows you to visually expand the space in the room, which is very beneficial for small apartments and houses. Especially good, judging by the reviews, this solution looks in a space that is not cluttered with furniture and other interior items. The drawing can be prepared as diverse as possible, and any professional designer uses it. And a responsible builder will not refer to the difficulties, because he also understands the stylistic advantages of this option.

Laying laminate strips diagonally in a very complex room is even easier than the classic "straight" method. But keep in mind that any master will undertake to lay the coating in this way only with increased payment, because he appreciates his time and effort.

Preparatory work

Laying laminate in a diagonal way requires a very accurate calculation, competent cutting. It is best to cut the laminate into no more than three rows of panels. In preparation more be sure to number each block so as not to forget where exactly to put it. Since perfectly right angles are not found everywhere, it is more correct to evaluate the angle for cutting panels adjacent to the walls by trying them on. Laminate laid over ledges, recesses, pipe outlets is cut according to cardboard templates.

Whether you are laying your laminate diagonally or straight, you need to prepare the surface. The floor is treated with leveling mixtures to perfect condition, all debris and foreign objects are removed. Immediately before laying the rough floor, it is desirable to sweep, strengthen with a primer. A cellophane film is placed on it, and then a substrate or sheets of cork. Everything, after that, only you can proceed to the main part of the work.

How to put it right?

The generally accepted rules are:

 • laminate flooring must be left indoors for at least 24 hours before laying;
 • it is leveled;
 • strengthen;
 • clean the base
 • lay a substrate;
 • prepare wedges for expansion gaps (wood bars or trimmings of the laminate itself, best of all 10-15 mm wide).

Laying the laminate from the corner should be done first drawing on the reverse side of the boards right triangle (its angles are adjusted depending on the straightness of the wall joints in the room). In this case, the hypotenuse must “look” in the direction of the groove. The triangle is placed in a corner and wedged so that an interval appears.

Do not throw away the rest of the board, it will still be needed when laying in the other half of the room.

When the gap appears, take the whole panel, from the border of the side where the groove is, in the direction of the section with the tongue, draw a line at an angle of 45 degrees. Now, from its end point, lay a segment, the length of which is the same as at the base of the triangle. Connect the second point to the base, again at 45 degrees, so you should get an isosceles trapezoid. By following these simple principles, you can achieve excellent result even without special skills and abilities.

Required Tools

Any laminate can be cut cutting tool with small teeth. Experts recommend using special machines and electric jigsaws, circular saws. Unless you are going to use the repair as an excuse to exercise your will and patience, do not try to use hand saws and hacksaws. In addition to the basic tools, you will also need:

 • a hammer;
 • roulette;
 • padding bar;
 • wedges for forming gaps;
 • ruler and pencil for measuring short pieces of material.

Calculations

Estimating the approximate material consumption is simple: knowing the area of the room, add 15% to it and divide by the same area of a single panel. A formula with more accurate results has also been developed. The length of the room is conventionally designated as X, the width as Y, for the length and width of the laminate panels, the designations A and B are used, respectively.

The area of the room is calculated by multiplying its length and width. Stock is calculated multiplying WxB and by 1.42; so it turns out the area for which the laminate should definitely be enough, if it did not deteriorate at all during installation. Then both figures are summed up, the sum is divided by the area of a single block and the resulting number of panels is rounded upwards.

Prepare a layout of the room and discuss with the seller again how much to take coatings, otherwise you risk facing an excess or, more often, a lack of material at the most crucial moment.

Execution technique

The diagonal way of placing the laminate is divided into three typical varieties:

 • In the first of them, work begins with a corner, the very first element is a right triangle.
 • In the second, they begin to act with an indent from the corner, the initial fragment is a trapezoid.
 • And in the third scheme, the laying is carried out from the middle, from the line running diagonally throughout the room, the first row is made prefabricated.

The layout most often starts from the corner that is farthest from the entrance; when working, they move from left to right. The initial row is laid with a comb away from you and a groove towards you. If blocks are used typical castle, they must be placed in the same plane and, putting a wooden gasket, knock out with light blows of a wooden hammer. Since the spike is easier to drive into the groove, and not to “catch” the spikes with the grooves, the work goes from the corner to one side.

When a row is formed by several panels at once (and it happens, of course, in most cases), you can either add them one after another, or immediately form a chain, then attaching it to the previous one. Snap Blocks no need to beat, two-way docking is possible, leading either from the middle or from the indent from the edge.

Trapezoidal layout requires that the length of the smallest base of any figure does not differ from the length of the largest base of the previous one. If one panel is not enough to close the gap between the walls, whole rows are assembled, and the corners can be cut only at the blocks that complete the chain.

You can lay a laminate from the center of the room with your own hands, connecting opposite corners with a diagonally running strip(it is drawn on the substrate). If this is difficult for you, there is an easier way - nails are hammered in the corners or screws are screwed in, after which a cord or rope is pulled between them. Measure the angle separating the diagonal and the nearest wall, it will show exactly how to cut the first panel. It is placed in the corner with a wide part on the prepared line, fenced off from the wall with wedges.

As many panels as needed are attached to the original block with the ends, only the final row requires a cut at a certain angle. Each tier duplicates the previous one, but they are cut so that the seams do not match, they run apart.

To the right and left of the middle, you need to use suitable elements. When there is no threshold between several rooms, and the same flooring will be applied in each of them, cutting the laminate in the opening is not done. And those panels that do not fit in one room will immediately be connected to the next.

It is advisable to lay laminate with comb-groove format locks only in one direction, moreover, from the corner; if you chose a cover with snaps, this does not really matter, and the following chains can be attached to the previous ones from different sides.

Starting from the middle of the room, save the smallest pieces for later so as not to waste material in vain. Centimeter widening wedges are placed from the wall to the edge of the blocks, which can then be removed - their role is to avoid instantaneous adjoining of surfaces and create an expansion joint.

Important: keep an eye on whether the walls have begun to narrow during the entire work, because then the laying will begin in turn.

Laying laminate in itself is an extremely responsible matter, requiring careful preparation, accuracy, patience, and accurate calculation.

All this will be needed even more if it is decided to lay the laminated panels diagonally.

But the efforts spent will be rewarded a hundredfold - the coating laid in this way literally transforms any room.

Traditionally, laminate flooring is laid in such a way that the long seams between the panels are oriented parallel to the rays from the main source of daylight - windows.

And what opportunities does diagonal laying open up:

 • First of all, the window (one or more) may not be located quite standardly, with an offset to one or another corner. It may turn out that it is the diagonal laying that will fully comply with the principle of parallelism to the rays of light.
 • The panels, located at an angle to the walls of the room, are great at hiding its geometric flaws. So, if the walls are not parallel to each other, traditional technique styling will only emphasize this defect, and the diagonal will make it almost invisible.
 • The diagonal arrangement of laminated panels gives an interesting visual effect - a visual expansion of space, which is very important in cramped rooms of small apartments.
 • Such styling just looks very beautiful and gives the interior of the room a refined originality.

Is it true that more laminate is needed?

Yes, if you decide to resort to diagonal laying, the consumption will be higher, the laminate should be purchased with a certain margin. This is explained simply - in the areas where the ends of the panels adjoin the walls, they will have to be cut at a certain angle, “customized in place”. No matter how hard you try, waste-free production' cannot be achieved.

For experienced craftsmen, according to them, a 5% supply of laminate is enough - they have already developed a professional flair for the most optimal location panels.

For those who will carry out such styling for the first time, the reserve should be larger.

There are recommendations to purchase a stock of 15 or even 20%, which, probably, still exceeds the limits of reason.

Among finishers, it is customary to rely on a 7 percent reserve rate, but for a beginner, for a guarantee, you can take a margin of 0.1 of the total area of the room.

If this value is divided by the area of the panels that are in the same factory packaging, you can get exact value packages required for a complete diagonal laminate flooring in a room.

You should immediately purchase all the required quantity - there is no guarantee that the laminate of this batch will be in the store after some time.

And the panels of even the same model, but of a different batch, can differ markedly in color, which will be immediately noticeable on the floor.

Preparing for styling

In order for the laying of the laminate to be successful and the coating turned out to be of high quality, it is necessary to perform a number of preparatory measures.

Preparing the surface of the floor in the room

Laminate can be laid as on a concrete screed by conducting a complex necessary work for waterproofing and installation of a special substrate, and for the old floor covering - linoleum, boards, etc. The general requirement is that the floor must be perfectly flat and stable at any point.

If in some place there is subsidence, squeaks - an appropriate repair is required.

Linoleum should not have delaminations, bubbles, through abrasions, obvious signs of destruction concrete base under him.

 • If, then priming is necessarily carried out with deep penetration waterproofing compounds. In addition, the floor is covered from above plastic wrap. All work on this basis begins to be carried out only after the coating has completely solidified, in accordance with technological standards.
 • A substrate is laid under the laminate - polyurethane foam or natural cork. Its sheets are installed end-to-end and fastened with adhesive tape.
 • It is even better if it is possible to completely cover the room with OSB boards - they will give both a perfectly flat surface and an additional noise and heat insulating effect.

Preparation of material and tools, work planning

The purchased laminate, after its delivery to the place of work, must be unpacked and allowed to rest in this form for at least 2-3 days.

The panels adapt to the temperature and humidity of the room, in this way we exclude the possibility of their warping after installation.

AT without fail you need to draw a plan for the upcoming work, in compliance with the scale and taking into account the length and width of the acquired laminated panels. This drawing will give a visual representation of the laying sequence, help to avoid mistakes when cutting the material.

What is the preferred laying angle?

It is best, of course, to lean at 45 degrees - panel trims will be the most versatile, and the amount of waste will be significantly reduced.

An angle of 30 - 40 degrees is allowed, but if you make it less than 30, the coating will look ugly.

Preparing for work:

 • electric jigsaw or hacksaw with a small tooth;
 • hammer, preferably wooden or rubber;
 • curved mount for installation of finishing wall panels;
 • tape measure, square, ruler, pencil.

It is advisable to immediately make a proper supply of spacer wooden wedges 10 mm thick to ensure a compensation gap along the walls.

Before starting work, you should definitely enlist the help of a friend - with diagonal laying, it is especially necessary.

Diagonal Laminate Laying Process

Two schemes for laying the laminate diagonally are used - from one, the far corner of the room, or from the center, sequentially in one direction and the other.

From the corner

When laying from a corner, start with one solid panel, cut on both sides to the required angle.

It is she who will set the direction for the rest of the coating.

Do not forget that from the walls it must be wedged by 10 to compensate for the thermal expansion of the material.

If a heating pipe passes in the immediate vicinity of the corner of the room where work begins, it makes sense to start laying from here, immediately cutting a hole for it at the junction of two panels - this operation will be greatly simplified.

From the launch pad, which made up the first row, it is more expedient to go to the center of the room. The corner left uncovered can be laid later, using short pieces of material that will definitely appear in the course of work.

Obviously, each next row with this styling increases in length. Be sure to shift the transverse seams by ½ the length of the panel - it’s more beautiful, and the strength of the coating will be much higher.

The panels of each row must be fastened at the ends in advance, with the exception of segments adjacent to the walls.

 • The row is laid out in its place, but does not adhere rigidly in the lock to the previous one.
 • Then a measurement is made at two points, from both sides of the end of the last flat panel to the wall.
 • This distance, reduced by 10 mm, is transferred to the panel to be cut, a line is drawn and a cut is made along it with a jigsaw or hacksaw.
 • Do the same on the other side of the row.

Here is an important note to make:

If a opposite walls parallel, then the corner left after trimming should fit perfectly on the other side of the row. This must be taken into account in order to avoid wasting material - it is necessary to trim on one side to use them for the other.

And one more important remark - a fatal mistake of many novice repairmen is inattention to the location of the tongue and groove of the laminated board lock - after cutting, it often turns out that the corner is cut in the other direction.

The proverb about "measure seven times" is more relevant here than ever.

After all the details for the full row are ready, it is removed from the lock, assembled completely at the ends, and only then is it finally engaged with the locking part of the previous row.

It is here that the help of a friend will be invaluable - when the length of the row becomes significant, it is very difficult to cope with such a procedure on your own. After installing a solid strip, it is wedged from the wall with wedges.

Similarly, laying continues throughout the room. Exceptions may be internal corners premises - there you will have to take measurements at three points - along the edges of the board and at the very point of intersection of the walls.

In more detail and clearly the process of laying the laminate diagonally is shown in the video. Laying is done from the corner in a checkerboard pattern, it is described in detail how to start the corner and how to finish with the transition to another room.

From the center

Some masters prefer to carry out diagonal laying from the center of the room.

In this case, a long prefabricated row is laid first, which will set the general direction for all the rest.

Its installation is carried out in the same way as described above. After that, the installation of the coating takes place, first completely to one corner, then to the other.

This technique is especially relevant in cases where there are external corners in the room - for example, a large ledge, a column, or when the coating is inseparably transferred from one room to another.

In such a situation, it is advisable to lay the first row tangentially to outside corner- so worries with cutting will be significantly reduced. If this is not possible, you will have to take careful measurements at three or even more points.
When laying the adhesive laminate, then after the first three rows, it is necessary to pause for 3-4 hours so that the glue grabs well.

But using the "from the center" scheme when laying laminate with "Click" type locks may not be applicable.

This locking system involves inserting the tongue part into the groove at a certain angle and then snapping it into place, i.e. mounting must be carried out in only one general direction.

"Running" away from the center on some models of this type of laminate may simply be impossible. This must be taken into account when planning work.

At the end of the installation, it remains only to remove the spacer bars and fasten (to the wall, not to the floor!) Skirting boards.

In general, diagonal styling absolutely does not tolerate haste. Only careful measurements, attention and accuracy will result in a beautiful original coating.

And in order to minimize waste, it is advisable to constantly sort the remaining scraps during the laying process and use them as much as possible in the work.

Laminate is considered a universal wooden flooring, which has a well-groomed appearance, and installation is simple and accessible to everyone. However, one should not be treated negligently, because with insufficient accuracy and chaotic following walkthrough the connection of the lamellas may be loose, which means that dirt and dust will enter large gaps.

In addition, any laminate is treated with a water-repellent sealant. Accordingly, large gaps require more putty, which looks extremely untidy.

Laying the laminate diagonally looks interesting, this process requires even more perseverance and, of course, an accurate calculation of the required material.

Cons and pros

Benefits of diagonal laminate flooring

The classic and common variant of the arrangement of lamellas for wooden flooring consists in placing joints in parallel with respect to the main source of daylight - a window opening.

Of course, each has its pros and cons. What are the benefits of diagonal laminate?

 1. Laying laminate diagonally is better when the window is slightly to the left or right, and not in the center of the wall. Thus, the principle of parallel lighting will fully comply with the diagonal placement of the lamellas.
 2. It is appropriate to use the diagonal version of laying the laminate if the walls of the room have noticeable defects.
 3. Designers use the diagonal placement of the laminate, because it creates a visual effect of expanding the room, thereby increasing the square footage of a cramped living space.

Main disadvantages

There are also disadvantages of diagonal laminate. The most basic - with diagonal laying, the consumption of laminate is greater, so the material must be purchased in a larger volume than usual. Large expenses are due to the fact that at the points of attachment of the ends of the panels to wall structures, they must be cut at an appropriate angle and adjusted every time different meanings. There are a lot of surpluses and scraps that remain after cutting and mounting the lamellas, but, unfortunately, they are completely useless, they cannot be used.

Experienced professionals have learned to identify right amount wood covering in such a way that only 5% of all purchased material is leftovers. If you are a beginner and for the first time you are faced with the need to lay a laminate diagonally, it is worth laying in a reserve large numbers lamellas. Finishers recommend focusing on a percentage of 7% or, in extreme cases, a margin of 0.1 of the entire perimeter of the room.

Take into account the higher consumption of laminate

So, for convenience, we propose to apply a formula that will help to produce exact calculation: C * 1.1, where C is the area of the floor structure that is planned to be processed with a laminate. If after that we divide the obtained value by the perimeter of the lamellas packed in one package, you will get the number of sets, the contents of which are enough to cover the room with wooden material.

Once you have decided on necessary quantity, go shopping to the store and purchase the entire set of panels at one time. Beginners often make an unforgivable mistake - they collect only a part of the lamellas with the hope of buying the rest of the goods later, but then they face the problem of the lack of an identical type of wood, painted in the required shade, especially when it comes to a rare manufacturer.

Preparatory stage for laying laminate flooring

How to prepare the floor surface

To lay the laminate diagonally, you must have a leveled floor in the room. Laminate lays perfectly on the concrete surface, simplifies the complex process construction works concerning the waterproofing device and. Such preparation requires not only a bare foundation, but also old layer finishing material on the floor. The floor must be brought to an ideal state - it must be washed as even and stable as possible.

Any creaking sounds, subsidence and floor care in depth are a harbinger of the fact that the laminate will leave the best, and here the situation does not depend on the quality of the material and its manufacturer.

What should be linoleum? No bundles, bubbles, swelling and scuffs, through holes and holes should not be visible naked eye. Pay attention to whether the concrete screed is collapsing, if it has lost its integrity, you will have to build a new foundation.

 • So, if you decide to lay the laminate diagonally on top of the concrete, prepare a primer solution (how to do this is written on the label of the material). It is desirable that the composition indicate the parameter of deep penetration of the mass. After the solution is applied in an even layer, it is necessary to leave it to dry completely. After that, the floor structure is covered with a polyethylene film.
 • It is preferable to mount the laminate with your own hands on a substrate, which can be made of either cork or polyurethane foam. The substrate panels are fixed to each other and connected with adhesive tape.
 • The best option is to lay the room with OSB panels, which provide a flat plane and additional noise and thermal protection effect.

Planning installation work

When the laminate is already at home, open the package and leave it to rest for a couple of days. During this time, the slats perfectly adapt to the room temperature and humidity, which means that you don’t have to worry about the subsequent slats after their installation.

Be sure to think installation work, given the scale and size of the purchased raw materials. The scheme will facilitate and systematize the sequence of laying work, as well as help to avoid mistakes when cutting the material.

Experts recommend adhering to the angle of inclination of the panels at 45 degrees, but if desired, this value can be changed up to 30-40 degrees. Be aware that slopes less than 30 degrees cause an ugly cut and generally complicate the process of fixing the laminate.

Step-by-step instructions for diagonal installation of laminate

Method "From the corner"

Take one solid panel and cut along two edges, focusing on the desired angle. The first piece cut out will be a help for the entire wood flooring. To compensate for the thermal swelling of the raw material, wedge the surface, starting from the wall structures, by a value of 10.

If a heating pipe passes near the corner where the installation begins, it is correct to lay the laminate from here, immediately cutting off two lamellas at the seam for the hole going to the pipe.

Gradually move from the corner of the room to the middle. A small open corner is closed separately; small scraps of raw materials can be used. Accordingly, each next row will be lengthened. To make the rows look beautiful, provide for an offset of the transverse joints by ½ of the lamella size (along the length).

Panels of any row are connected at the ends, not including the segments falling to the wall planes. Lay one row, but do not fix it too tightly to the other. Take a measurement at two points passing from the two edges of the last even lamella to the wall itself. This dimensional step, minus the 10 mm laid down by the technology, falls on the lamella, which should be cut - mark the line and mark it with a jigsaw or hacksaw. The same should be done with the other edge of the row.

Method "From the center"

Some experts prefer to start laying the slats diagonally from the center of the room. The longest prefabricated row is taken as the basis, located at the intersection of straight lines emerging from opposite corners of the room. Laying is done in the same way as described above.

This type of flooring wooden canvas it is especially convenient when the room is equipped with outwardly facing corners - it can be a ledge, a column, it is possible to transfer the surface from one room to another.

It is better to lay out the first row closer to the outer corner, if this is not possible, you need to make the necessary measurements regarding four or more points. When laying a laminate, the lamellas of which are not connected to each other with the help of locking device, but are fixed on glue, after the first three rows it is necessary to take a break from work and take a break of at least 3-4 hours.

If you have purchased wood flooring, labeled "Click" on the packaging, the "From Center" scheme is not applicable. The point is that this arrangement system locking mechanism provides for the insertion of the comb into the groove at an appropriate angle, after which the lock snaps into place. Thus, the installation consists in laying all the parts in one direction, and nothing else.

When the diagonal installation is completed, remove the spacer bars and fix them, but in no case to the skirting board floor.

Conclusion

Now you know what diagonal laminate laying consists of. When installing, be extremely careful - beginners often do not track the location of the spike and groove connection, cutting the corner cut out on the other edge. The proverb “Measure seven times, cut once” will come in handy here.
