Good afternoon. I HAVE SUCH A QUESTION IS IT POSSIBLE TO GLUE FACADE CERAMIC TILES ON OSB PLYWOOD.

Hello.

Possibility of facing OSB and plywood

Technically, it is possible to glue facing tiles to wood-based panels. But is it necessary?

Before deciding to clad oriented strand board (OSB) or plywood with ceramic tiles, you need to make sure that it will not harm building structures. You didn't specify what kind of work you are talking about. Perhaps they decided to put facade tiles in the hallway, because they are universal and can be used indoors. And level the existing floor with a sheet of plywood or OSB. In this case, there shouldn't be any problems. But when it comes to exterior cladding frame house or a log house insulated and sheathed on the outside, there is reason to think about the correctness decision. The fact is that the wooden structures of the building and fibrous insulation must be ventilated to prevent their waterlogging. Moisture is removed using two methods:

  • Under the outer layer of sheathing (OSB, plywood, DSP, etc.) there is an air gap open for free air flow in the lower and upper parts of the walls. With such a design outer wall no restrictions for exterior finish, including tiling, no.
  • There may not be an air gap, and water vapor is removed directly through the skin: the same OSB or plywood. So, by the way, they often build budget houses in North America, a more efficient and reliable ventilation gap is preferred by Europeans. If we veneer a significant surface of the facade of a frame house with ceramic or porcelain tiles, the wall structure of which does not provide for a ventilation gap, this can provoke a serious increase in the moisture level of the wood, wetting the insulation. Which, in turn, will lead to rotting of the wooden frame elements, delamination and warping sheet material, loss of heat-insulating properties by fibrous insulation. It is impossible to clad the outer walls of such a house. Of course, we are talking about large areas, limited areas (framing windows, doors, small inserts) can be decorated with tiles.

The technology of facing wood boards on tile adhesive

Let's start with the fact that both oriented strand boards (OSB) and plywood intended for cladding should only be moisture resistant, this required condition. The second condition is that the frame must be strong, the sheets are screwed securely.

  • Training. The surface of oriented strand boards is coated with adhesive. It forms a smooth film that reduces adhesion to materials on cement base. We recommend that before starting the facing of OSB boards, sand the area intended for finishing with medium-grained sandpaper. It is necessary to achieve the disappearance of gloss, the surface should become matte. With plywood there is no need to carry out such a procedure.
  • Primer. Although we are dealing with wood materials, for better adhesion of the adhesive to the boards, it is recommended to process them primer composition for mineral surfaces. Special compositions should be used to increase adhesion, for example, CeresitCT-19 Betonkontakt, ilmax 4175 beton-kontakt. If the surface of the wall is not very even and involves the application of glue with a layer of more than 4 mm, it is better to use primers that serve as the basis for plasters. They contain quartz sand that creates a rough surface. Example: Typhoon Master No. 103 "BETON-CONTACT", CeresitCT 16.

The adhesive primer will improve the adhesion of the tile adhesive to the wood board.

  • Waterproofing. If the cladding is carried out in an area that is often exposed to moisture (low plinth, nearby drain, sloping surface, etc.), it makes sense to waterproof the slabs. We recommend using cement-polymer mixtures, for example, CeresitCR 65. Although the instructions indicate that the compositions are intended for mineral surfaces, they are also suitable for waterproof wood-based panels. Cement-polymer insulation is inexpensive, easy to apply, and adhesion can be slightly improved. It is advisable to pre-fill the joints between the sheets with a sealant, including acrylic.
  • Facing. If you put the tile on the usual cheap cement glue, it is very high proportion probability will fall off after the first winter, or even faster. The fact is that wooden frame, especially from the outside of the house, does not have sufficient stability and “walks” a little, depending on weather conditions(humidity and air temperature). In our area, seasonal temperature fluctuations are 60-80 ºС, or even all 100 ºС. The wall on the south side of the house, especially if it dark color, in the bright sun it can heat up by an additional 40-50 ºС. From temperature changes, changes in air humidity, wood boards narrow and expand: the outer skin is slightly, but deformed. For laying tiles on wood-based panels, it is necessary to use only high-quality special adhesive mixtures, with elasticity and designed for problematic grounds. Such an adhesive is able to absorb moderate deformations of the skin. Example: Ceresit CM 16, Ceresit CM 17, Knauf-Flex.

When laying tiles on wood-based panels, the right choice adhesive composition

We do not recommend using large tiles for cladding. frame structures, maximum 30x30 cm. To reduce the risk of cracking in the tile, the adhesive layer can be reinforced with a polymer mesh. First, a thin layer of glue (about 2 mm) is applied, a mesh is sunk into it, smeared on top. The next day, they start facing, applying a second layer of glue. It cannot be said that this method can help with severe deformations, but it gives some positive effect.

Reinforcing the layer of tile adhesive with a polymer mesh can help with minor deformations of the base, but it will not save you from significant movements

Sealant lining

Cement-based compounds are excellent for cladding mineral surfaces (concrete, brick, plaster, gypsum plasterboard, gypsum plasterboard, etc.), but not in the best way for wood-based panels. Much better will hold the tiles silicone sealant or glue "liquid nails", but not on acrylic, but on a neoprene basis. They have better adhesion to OSB and plywood than cement tile adhesive, increased elasticity, do not contain water. However, veneering on sealants or adhesives is difficult due to their fluidity and long setting time. The sealant layer will be minimal; it will not work to compensate for the errors of the base. The surface must be prepared perfectly, otherwise the tile will repeat all the irregularities of the base. The lining for the sealant will cost a lot: the material will cost a good penny, and the work is difficult.

Expensive, requires a very even base, but silicone sealant holds the tile best. Glossy OSB can not be sanded, but instead of concrete contact, wood boards can be treated with impregnation or wood varnish

Tile alternative

Unfortunately, no matter how hard you try, on the lungs wooden structures, subject to permanent deformations, the tile will a priori hold worse than on stable mineral substrates (concrete, plaster, gypsum plasterboard, gypsum board, LSU according to steel frame). We cannot unconditionally recommend large areas of walls of frame structures for cladding. Is there an alternative to heavy ceramic, porcelain stoneware or stone tiles? Partly yes. Alas, there is nothing to replace polished stone and porcelain stoneware. But there are quite reliable imitations of natural slate, sandstone, aged brick, specially designed for finishing problematic surfaces. This is a flexible facade tile (flexible stone).

If the base surface (OSB or plywood) is deformed, the flexible elastic tile will bend, stretch a little, but will not crack or fall off like ceramic or stone

A layer of color is applied to the elastic base using acrylic resins. marble chips, which gives the tile a resemblance to unpolished natural stone or unglazed ceramics.

It will be difficult for a non-specialist to distinguish flexible stone from marble chips from natural slate slabs.

In Russia and the CIS countries, the products of the Hungarian company Delap are well known. At good quality and a wide range of products, the company offers attractive prices, m2 of the finished surface, taking into account the cost of tiles, special glue and primer, costs an average of 1000 rubles, which is cheaper or comparable to the price of porcelain tiles or decorative plaster based on marble chips. Despite the fact that flexible tile reliably protects the facade from precipitation, it is able to pass water vapor.

Lightweight flexible marble chips acrylic base better than heavy ceramics, suitable for cladding large wall areas frame houses

Today, for laying tiles, there are many various materials, which allow you to perform high-quality and reliable cladding. Oriented strand board is an ideal base for tiles, and the installation process is no more complicated than on chipboard. There are many different opinions about the advisability of laying tiles on OSB slabs. Many believe that OSB tiles has poor moisture resistance and therefore laying tiles on this material will not give the expected result.

The tile on the OSB slab fits pretty well, although it has its own "pitfalls". OSB sheets are moisture resistant and durable, but it is still not recommended to lay such material in rooms with high humidity. For laying tiles, you need a perfectly even base, and if your floor has minor defects, then it is simply not possible to carry out high-quality masonry. Then OSB sheets will come in handy for us.

Self-assembly

The tile on the OSB slab will lie flat and clear, but this fine work must be trusted to a professional. But if you do not have the funds to pay for the work of a specialist, then you can carry out the masonry yourself. After the OSB sheets have been laid, they must be primed with a special primer and allowed to dry, otherwise the water from the adhesive solution will quickly be absorbed and leveling the masonry will be problematic. Puttying such walls is strictly prohibited, since the putty absorbs water in wet rooms and the tile will simply fall off soon.

Tiles on OSB are laid from the second row. Most The best way, it is strictly according to the level to attach or glue a horizontal bar to the wall. Then dilute the solution (strictly as indicated on the package), you should get the consistency of thick sour cream. Make a mortar better mixer and it is not necessary to dilute a lot of glue at once, since the same density of glue is needed. If you are not a professional, then you will work slowly, and the glue thickens quickly.

The glue is applied to the tile with a comb, this allows air bubbles to escape from under the tile. After gluing the first row, alignment is carried out using a flat rail. The tile on the OSB board lays down almost immediately perfectly, so you can do without a lath, but to achieve perfection you need to use a level. Floors are much more difficult to lay than walls, but with a great desire, you will succeed.

O Oriented strand board or OSB has not yet been widely used, although the material is quite interesting, and laying tiles on OSB is no more difficult than on chipboard. There are many different opinions about the advisability of laying tiles on OSB. Many do not recommend doing this due to the poor moisture resistance of the material.

H about moisture resistance here, too, public opinion is divided. Despite the fact that the sellers claim that the boards are moisture resistant material, do not forget that they are made of chips, only slightly larger than in the case of chipboard. This means that the approach to laying tiles on OSB sheets should be the same.

With The next trouble that you will have to face is the poor adhesion of the material to the tile. To achieve the maximum possible adhesion, several preparatory operations must be performed. Laying tiles is always associated with the processing of the base, in this case we are interested in laying tiles on osb, which means we need to prepare the surface of the plate. To do this, sand the OSB surface.

D To do this, use medium-grain sandpaper. As a rule, in this case, the slab will become ideal for laying tiles and you can proceed to further work. If the material causes you any doubts, it is recommended to remove the plates and make a traditional screed if the question concerns the floor.

Can tiles be laid on OSB boards?

You can also make a small layer of screed directly on top of the OSB and do the traditional laying, but we are not interested in this at all. Moreover, a screed over OSB can also cause a lot of criticism.

P when starting to lay tiles on an osb slab, it is necessary to take very seriously the priming of the surface and the adhesive layer, which may seem unusual. For priming, a special moisture-resistant primer should be used to avoid deformation of the material. The next step, of course, should be the application of glue. This is where the differences begin. Specialists offer interesting way, which may also cause some controversy. In this case, laying tiles on OSB will be carried out only after the following operations have been completed:

- an epoxy or special elastic tile adhesive is applied to the primed layer;

- a mesh for fiberglass facades is pressed into the adhesive solution;

- another layer of glue is applied on top;

- after the glue has dried, a layer of coating waterproofing is applied.

P After all the preparatory operations are completed, you can proceed to the main work. Laying tiles on OSB is carried out similarly to any other surface. At the end of the work, the joints are grouted. Given the characteristics of the material, OSB is most often used for building facades than for flooring, so the precautions considered will not be superfluous, since it is the facade that can withstand large overloads associated with temperature changes and high humidity.

Is it possible to lay ceramic tiles on OSB board?

One of the most popular building materials today is OSB (OSB, OSB). The product consists of pressed large and medium chips, interconnected with resins. Wood chips are stacked in different directions, their layers are perpendicular to each other, this ensures the unique strength of the material. OSB board is very strong, rigid, but has the necessary flexibility, the ability to properly distribute loads on the floor base.

Scheme of laying OSB-plates.

Almost any material can be laid on the slab, although in some cases additional processing is required.

For example, to lay tiles on OSB, you need to lay an additional top layer. For these purposes, glass-magnesite plates or DSPs are excellent. This is not due to the fact that the OSB board is not strong enough, but to the fact that the surface of the wood chips does not provide proper adhesion.

OSB laying on the floor

Before the OSB floor is laid with tiles or other flooring, it is necessary to properly mount it yourself OSB boards. Possible use various options, but the most optimal would be laying on logs.

The installation process of the plates is quite simple, although it requires certain steps to be followed:

OSB treatment before laying flooring

Table of characteristics of OSB-plates.

OSB boards in front finishing floors should be treated. The duration of the work will depend on whether there is a need for additional works for sheathing, insulation, adhesion. To the number preparatory work relate:

Fine surface finish OSB boards. Like construction material it is recommended to use without additional finishing agents, since the plates themselves have the required properties. Since the surface consists of glued wood chips, that is, it is not perfectly smooth, you will have to protect it from wear, traces of dust and various debris. The surface is treated with several layers of varnish. Each layer must dry before applying the next, for work it is necessary to use a regular brush.

After processing, the plate will become even and smooth, it will acquire an attractive appearance.

Ensuring an even transition between parts of the material, if it is planned to lay carpet, linoleum, vinyl tiles on OSB (not on glue).

Floor coverings are best taken with a minimum thickness, it is recommended to treat the gaps after laying with a sealant.

Laying vinyl tiles is a little more difficult, because unlike roll materials vinyl is cut into large and medium squares. For OSB, it is recommended to take only big squares, the seams between which are connected with special glue, forming a continuous carpet. Near the walls, it is recommended to decorate the edges of the material with a plinth, that is, the installation is similar to the installation of linoleum. It is recommended to leave expansion gaps near the walls.

Scheme of installation of lags under the OSB floor.

Ensuring the rigidity and immobility of the base sheathing before laying the laminate on OSB. The lags are placed as close to each other as possible, the plates themselves need to be fastened to each other using the tenon-groove method.

How to properly glue the tiles on the OSB board: the nuances of working with walls and floors

In some cases, it is recommended to take not one plate of large thickness, but several thinner ones, obtaining a reliable and durable coating. There are no special requirements for such OSB sheathing, it is only necessary to ensure the strength and stability of the base.

Laying ceramic tiles on OSB, preparing for it and assessing the chances of success of the operation. Solving the problem is quite troublesome and complicated. Tiles cannot be glued directly onto the surface of chipboards, as the tile will not stick. This means that it is necessary to provide an additional coating that will provide excellent adhesion to the surface. There are two possible solutions to the problem: instead of OSB, DSP will be laid on the floor, that is, cement-bonded particle boards with smooth surface, or on top of the wood-based panels themselves, sheathing from DSP, but of a smaller thickness, will be attached. When laying ceramic tiles, care must be taken to ensure that the base is as strong, rigid and motionless as possible. The layers are attached to each other with PVA building glue and self-tapping screws.

Ceramic tiles: is it possible to install on OSB?

Many who want to use tiles for decoration are wondering if it is possible to put ceramic tiles on OSB? The answer is unequivocal - no, ceramic tiles are not glued to the surface of such plates. This is due to the fact that the structure of the plate does not allow adhesive composition, designed for floor and other tiles, stay on the surface for a long time, even when using special nets and other things. In order to be able to lay tiles on the floor, which is made of OSB, you will have to make an additional layer of DSP boards or glass magnesite. How to lay tiles on such a floor correctly?

The process is as follows:

According to the materials of the site: http://1poplitke.ru

Recently I read on the Internet that you can not do a screed, but simply fix it wooden slats and lay a plate of OSB on them. And then what you want from above, then lay it, even tiles? Is this true, or just another publicity stunt?

How to glue ceramic tiles on OSB board?

I plan to do a bathroom renovation, but somehow I don’t want to repair the screed. So I come up with options, workarounds, so to speak. So what about OSB, is it really possible, who knows?

It is one of the best materials used for pre-finishing surfaces. Its main advantage is high strength- allows you to level walls or ceilings quickly and cost-effectively. Consider whether it is possible to lay tiles on OSB boards. If - yes, what is the technology of work.

Process Specifics

OSB board is a flexible wood-based material that absorbs water well. If this is not taken into account, then the right quality whether facing harm will work. So, how to lay tiles on OSB board? The tile is an inflexible material, so the base must be as rigid as possible. For flooring, OSB-plates with a minimum thickness of 1.5 cm are used with their laying on logs (minimum step, 400-600 mm). To ensure good adhesion of the plywood surface with the adhesive composition, such options are possible.

  • Additional cladding with moisture-resistant drywall or, alternatively, cement-bonded particle boards. This is associated with additional costs, and the thickness of the coating increases, but the quality of the lining will be excellent.
  • Covering OSB board with reinforcing mesh. In this case, put finishing material can be on a standard adhesive composition.
  • The use of special mixtures for gluing tiles with a wooden base.

How to prepare the surface

So, is it possible to lay tiles on plywood? Quite. But preparation is necessary. The plywood surface is almost glossy, so it requires special treatment. Coarse-grained sandpaper allows you to remove the gloss. After processing, the wood particles are removed with a vacuum cleaner.

A polymer primer is applied to the cleaned plate with a roller in 2 layers. Applying the second layer is possible when the first is completely dry. After the primer is applied, leave the surface to dry for half a day.

How to glue tiles on plywood: laying on a grid

This method gives good results. A reinforcing mesh is laid on the base covered with soil, which is fixed with staples from a stapler or self-tapping screws. The size of the perforated cells on the grid is 5-10 mm. The sheets are overlapped by a few centimeters. Can regular adhesive be used? It is possible, but it is better to use a special compound that provides good adhesion to the wood surface. 2-component mixtures on epoxy resins. A notched trowel is used to apply the adhesive. To make the seams even, use special crosses between the tiles. They are removed after the glue has completely set.

Installation of tiles on drywall

Moisture resistant (green) drywall is fixed to the base with 10 mm self-tapping screws. The step is 40-50 mm over the entire area of the sheet. Before facing drywall, it is necessary to treat it with a primer and wait for it to dry (about half a day).

Oriented strand board (OSB or OSB), having appeared relatively recently, has gained great popularity in the construction industry. They are used for the construction of load-bearing structures, room decoration, laying subfloors, ceiling and facade cladding. This article is intended to answer the question of whether it is possible to lay tiles on OSB boards and how to do it correctly.

Most often, the need for pasting chipboard walls with tiles arises when finishing frame houses. This technology in last years actively used in country and cottage construction. It is oriented strand board that is the main building material in the construction of frame houses. OSB consists of several layers of compressed wood chips glued together with a mixture of resins, synthetic wax and boric acid. The raw material is wood particles. conifers. The final product has a number of advantages:

  • high strength;
  • flexibility;
  • ease of processing and installation;
  • multifunctionality;
  • moisture resistance;
  • relatively small weight;
  • price compared to plywood (main competitor);
  • aesthetic properties.

But is it possible to lay tiles on an OSB slab without first preparing the base? No. Although resistant to water, oriented strand board deforms under prolonged exposure to moisture, absorbing it. This is one of the factors that do not allow ceramic tiles to be glued to a chipboard wall without special preparation. That is why the first step is so important.

The main task at the first stage is to protect the surface from moisture, ensuring maximum adhesion of materials. There are several ways to achieve this result. Let's consider three of them:

  1. Primer. The polymer solution will protect the wood from moisture. Before priming the surface, it is carefully polished with sandpaper. After that, the solution is applied with a roller. Do this in two layers, giving the first time to dry for about an hour. The gluing of the tiles is started after 12 hours.
  2. Additional layer. The second method does not involve direct gluing of tiles to OSB, but is quite popular. Logs are nailed to the base in increments of half a meter, and plywood or moisture resistant drywall. At this stage, it is important to ensure that the plane is as flat as possible. Otherwise, the glued lining may fall off.
  3. Reinforcement. One of the advantages of the third option is additional alignment walls. For this, a special reinforcing mesh is used. Lay it with fasteners or glue. In the second case, the mesh is pressed into the previously applied composition, and covered with it on top. The next day, the wall is primed, dried, and after that it is ready for work.

If OSB boards are lacquered, the glossy finish is removed from them, otherwise it will significantly reduce adhesion. Use medium grit sandpaper for this.

The usual cement composition for these purposes is not suitable. The main difficulty lies in the features of frame buildings. Depending on weather conditions, they may shrink and slightly deform. These processes lead to cracking and peeling of rigidly fixed tiles.

Therefore, do not save on glue. Choose a high-quality and sufficiently elastic composition. It should be suitable for use in rooms with high humidity and intended for problematic substrates. It will withstand a slight deformation of the frame without consequences. Best Options in this case - Ceresit CM 16, Ceresit CM 17, Soudal 24A and Knauf-Flex. Liquid nails or silicone sealant can serve as an alternative.

The right choice of tiles can also get rid of cracks. It is desirable that its dimensions are no more than 30 × 30 cm.

Instruments

We proceed from the fact that the first option for protecting OSB from moisture is chosen - priming. To do this, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • polymer primer;
  • roller;
  • metal spatula with 6-10 mm teeth;
  • adhesive composition;
  • hydraulic level and square;
  • device for cutting ceramics;
  • grout and a silicone spatula to level it (or foam sponge);
  • spacers for tiles;
  • moisture resistant impregnation for grouting.

If the second or third option for processing the base is chosen, you will also need logs, plywood (or drywall), reinforcing mesh and self-tapping screws.

The surface preparation is completed, the primer is dry, you can get to work. The most effective method for this is the use of "beacon tiles". These are peculiar marks that are guided to create a perfectly even masonry. AT small spaces beacons are glued to the extreme sides of the wall. On the large areas they are fixed at a distance of 50-60 cm. For correct location tiles relative to the floor use a hydraulic level.

At the next stage, with the help of rails with plumb lines, markings are made. They begin to stick the tiles from below, laying out the first row in turn, then the second, etc. To prevent violation of the evenness of the masonry, a long rail is placed under the lower tiles and is not removed until the glue has completely dried. Unfortunately, the floor is rarely a fairly flat surface - you should not focus on it when laying tiles.

Glue is applied both to the base and to the tile with a notched trowel. It is designed to remove bubbles from the adhesive mixture. A rubber mallet is used to lightly tap the laid tiles. These actions will increase adhesion and allow the cladding to lie as tightly as possible in the adhesive. To create a perfectly even distance between the tiles, cross spacers are inserted in the corners, and straight lines on the sides.

After gluing 4 rows of tiles, you should take a break and move on to the next one in an hour. It is necessary to give the glue the opportunity to harden so that the lining does not move down under its own weight.

Is it possible to lay floor tiles on OSB? Many experts argue that floor cladding is much more difficult than pasting walls. In any case, there are indeed differences.

On the floor, work starts from the center, not from the edges. To do this, find the middle of the length of one of the walls and draw a line perpendicular to it from this point. The same operation is carried out for the second wall. The intersection point of these lines will be the center of the room. It is recommended to lay out the tiles from here. In order to have less trimmings, you can move the central tile a little, having calculated the pre-necessary distance. Another way: lay out the lining dry beforehand in order to more accurately calculate the location of the central plate.

Laying is done in the same way as on vertical surfaces. Glue is applied to the floor and tiles, tapping the laid tiles with a rubber mallet.

You can proceed to further manipulations with the finish only after the adhesive mixture has completely dried. Given the fact that we carefully protected the OSB from moisture penetration, it is more difficult for the glue to harden. Therefore, after finishing work, you need to wait about 3 days before moving on to the next step. With high humidity in the room, this period is increased to 10 days.

After the adhesive has completely hardened, the spacers are removed and the grout is applied. It is more convenient to work with a silicone spatula, but an economical option is also suitable - a foam rubber sponge. Excess grout must be removed immediately, since it will be problematic to do this later. Next, a moisture-resistant impregnation is applied to it, which prevents the appearance of mold and fungus. The corners between the floor and the wall are additionally treated with water-repellent putty, and a plinth is installed on top. Only after applying all moisture-proof coatings, the tile can be washed.

Drilling small holes for interior elements in ceramic tiles is done using a drill without perforation, otherwise cracks may appear. Wide (for pipes) are cut out in advance, before gluing.

Now you know if it is possible to lay tiles on OSB boards. This is only done if the above conditions are met. Proper preparation surfaces, consistent and even laying of tiles using a level will help create a beautiful and durable coating even on such whimsical building materials as OSB. The main thing is to have patience and not proceed to the next step until the previous one is completed.

OSB laying on the floor

The installation process of the plates is quite simple, although it requires certain steps to be followed:

  1. First, waterproofing is applied to the floor surface, it will protect the entire cake from excessive moisture. For this, a dense polyethylene film or bitumen-based roll material is used.
  2. After the waterproofing is ready, it is necessary to start marking the walls and floor, installing a log.
  3. Best to buy wooden blocks, then treat them with special antiseptics that protect against fungus and moisture. The lag step can be different, it is calculated taking into account what kind of coating will be used. For example, for a laminate, the step will have to be done as little as possible.
  4. After installing the lag, it is required to fill the space between them with expanded clay. This material is best suited, it provides the necessary insulation and sound insulation. The layer should be even, well compacted, level with top lag.
  5. If the backfill is completed, then proceed to laying the OSB.

The plate is mounted in such a way that the joints of the individual elements fall on the logs, and not be between them. Fastening is carried out with self-tapping screws, gaps are made between the plates and walls. This is required so that during temperature changes there is no distortion of the surface, deformation of the floor covering.

  1. After the OSB boards are laid on the floor, the DSP sheets are installed. This process is costly, in many cases, builders offer to do without OSB. If additional rigidity is required, then it is better not to neglect such a layer. DSPs are attached to the floor with self-tapping screws, you can additionally use PVA construction glue. The boards are recommended to be laid in the opposite direction to the main floor to ensure strength and reliability. Between separate sheets there must be a gap of a couple of millimeters, it also needs to be provided near the walls.
  2. To lay the tiles, you need to use a special tile adhesive, it is applied to the surface with a spatula. ceramic floor tiles fits from the far corner or from the center - it all depends on which particular scheme will be used. The adhesive is applied in small portions, the layer thickness should not be too large. You need to start with solid tiles, they are lightly pressed to the floor surface with your hands, after which you can move from one element to the next. Each row is checked for horizontal and even laying, so that the pattern and the surface itself are attractive and even.
  3. To ensure a beautiful and neat coating, you must use special plastic cross-separators. They are placed in the corners and on the sides of the tiles according to an extremely simple pattern: at the joints of the tiles and two crosses on the sides. The result is a beautiful and even masonry in full accordance with the desired pattern. It will be possible to remove the crosses about a day after the work is completed.
