After updating the OS to Windows 10, the bluetooth driver does not work very often. It doesn't matter, the problem is known and already solved many times. You just need to download Bluetooth for Windows 10 and the problem will be completely solved. Only a moment separates you from this decision.

Peculiarities

The operating system itself tries to download Bluetooth, but it does not always succeed. If you find yourself in a situation where there is a bluetooth module in the device, but the connection does not work, then help your OS, download the drivers manually. After that you will get: Of course, drivers for absolutely everything have not yet been made for Windows 10 bluetooth models modules, but there are universal solutions that save in most cases. These solutions are suitable for both computers and laptops or tablets. A separate story if you have an external Bluetooth module. Here it is desirable to find a driver from a specific manufacturer, only in this case uninterrupted operation is guaranteed.

Which bluetooth driver to choose

First of all, it is important to see what generation of Bluetooth receiver you have. If you have an old version, up to 4.0, then you need to choose the appropriate drivers. If the most new module, then others are needed. Whether you want to download drivers for Bluetooth on a computer or on a tablet, there is not much difference, because Windows 10 in the tablet version is no different from the regular version for a computer. As we said, the Bluetooth drivers for Windows 10 are only different if you have an external module.

You should not choose paid options, because here you can download drivers for free. But you should be careful about the bitness of the driver, the x32 version is not suitable for Windows 10 x64. This also applies to other drivers, for example

Here you can download bluetooth drivers for a desktop computer, laptop and netbook in order to organize a wireless connection for connecting a PC with other devices using the built-in hardware bluetooth module or a bluetooth adapter connected via an available USB port. Positive user rating in reviews and comments in in social networks, on specialized forums and other resources on the Internet, as well as recommendations on how to download the Bluetooth driver for free for Windows 10, 8.

General concept of Bluetooth technology

If you need to connect a PC to any gadget via bluetooth protocol, it makes sense to download Broadcom Bluetooth drivers for free for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and put it on your computer, laptop or netbook. This technology allows you to connect to a personal computer the entire range of peripheral devices and equipment with the appropriate wireless information transfer protocol and use both one-time and permanently. The most commonly used devices are tablets, smartphones, Cell phones, digital photo and video cameras, wireless headphones, speakers, Bluetooth headsets for PC, bluetooth headsets for phones, speakerphone in the car, mice, joysticks, keyboards, faxes, printers, scanners, GPS receivers, OBD2 ELM327 Bluetooth adapter for diagnosing cars and other. Multiple Bluetooth devices working on a network are called a piconet (piconet). Both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint combinations are standardly supported. Before pairing, all active parties must enter a PIN code. Passive hardware has a built-in PIN code.

Among the advantages of this technology, it is worth highlighting the following advantages:

Operational search and connection of devices,
- low energy consumption,
- resistance to radio interference,
- data transfer in parallel,
- high-quality voice broadcasting,
- 128-bit AES cipher for data protection.

Bluetooth is translated into Russian as "blue tooth". The technology has been developed since 1994 by Erickson Corporation, and since 1998 IBM, Intel, Motorola, Nokia and Toshiba have joined it, forming the Bluetooth SIG. Today, in addition to Bluetooth, non-wire substitutes for RS-232 cables such as IrDA infrared communication and Wi-Fi local radio networks have become widespread.

Bluetooth adapter and network

A BT adapter is usually a USB device that allows one PC to communicate with other PCs and other devices of the type local network with the ability to transfer data between them. Such data can be, for example, video recordings and photos from a mobile phone, melodies, documents, electronic books and other. Also, a BT connection is suitable for connecting to the Internet, for example, via 3G or GPRS, using the modem capabilities of a mobile phone. Bluetooth networks operate in the unlicensed in most countries radio frequency range from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz, where Wi-Fi, radio phones operate and emit concomitant microwave radiation, scientific and medical equipment. In the latest specifications of Wireless personal area network, WPAN, the range of bluetooth networks is increased to 100 meters, and data is transmitted at a speed of 3 Mbps. The most powerful Host XR from AIRcable hits 30 km. The scope of application has no restrictions: from familiar to all smartphones, headsets, GPS navigators to auto OBD2 ELM327 Bluetooth diagnostic scanner and sensors used in science, sports, medicine.

How to enable bluetooth, download and install software

Before starting the installation, you must make sure that the equipment is working: connect a working USB adapter or activate the Bluetooth module in the laptop BIOS. After the user was able to download the bluetooth drivers for free from this page of the site in Russian and started the installation, you don’t have to configure anything. Installation takes some time, sometimes you have to wait depending on the equipment. At startup, Bluetooth automatically diagnoses the equipment and analyzes the possibility of organizing a wireless connection, determines the parameters of the peripheral device. Bluetooth equipment on a PC does not always work perfectly, so we recommend looking for a computer in a BT environment from a trusted tablet or smartphone.

How to turn on bluetooth if there are problems

If there is a problem with installing drivers, then there are two options for solving the problem. The first is to check the operability of the BT device itself, for example, the indicator is off, the computer does not detect it and does not show it in the equipment list. The second is to make sure that the USB port is working by connecting any other device to it, for example, a USB flash drive. If the USB port is working, then it is worth testing on this computer a known working BT-adapter.

As a rule, once installed Bluetooth drivers for data transmission work without problems even when changing the adapter. It is enough to download the Broadcom bluetooth software once to a computer with the Microsoft Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP operating system and install it correctly. Reinstalling or updating generic Bluetooth drivers is usually not required because the technology specification assumes extended hardware compatibility.

Bluetooth adapters are quite common these days. With this device, you can connect various accessories and gaming devices (mouse, headset, etc.) to a computer or laptop. In addition, we must not forget about the standard data transfer function between a smartphone and a computer. Such adapters are integrated into almost every laptop. On stationary PCs, such equipment is much less common and often acts as an external device. In this lesson, we will tell you in detail how to install the Bluetooth adapter software for Windows 7 operating systems.

You can find and install software for these adapters, as well as any devices in fact, in several ways. We offer you a series of actions that will help you in this matter. So, let's begin.

Method 1: Official website of the motherboard manufacturer

As the name suggests, this method will only help if you have a Bluetooth adapter integrated into the motherboard. Finding out the model of such an adapter can be difficult. And on the websites of the board manufacturer, there is usually a section with software for all integrated circuits. But first, let's find out the model and manufacturer motherboard. To do this, perform the following steps.

  1. We press the button "Start" in the lower left corner of the screen.
  2. In the window that opens, look for the search string below and enter the cmd value into it. As a result, you will see the file found above with the same name. Let's launch it.
  3. In the opened window command line Enter the following commands one by one. Don't forget to press "Enter" after entering each one.
  4. wmic baseboard get Manufacturer

    wmic baseboard get product

  5. The first command will display the name of the manufacturer of your board, and the second - its model.
  6. After you have found out all the necessary information, we go to the official website of the board manufacturer. In this example it will be .
  7. Every site has a search bar. You need to find it and enter your motherboard model into it. After that press "Enter" or a magnifying glass icon, which is usually located next to the search bar.
  8. As a result, you will find yourself on a page where all search results for your query will be displayed. We are looking for our motherboard or laptop in the list, since in the latter case the manufacturer and model of the motherboard are the same as the manufacturer and model of the laptop. Next, just click on the product name.
  9. Now you will be taken to the page of the specifically selected equipment. On this page in without fail there must be a tab "Support". We are looking for such or similar in meaning inscription and click on it.
  10. This section includes many sub-items with documentation, manuals and software for the selected equipment. On the page that opens, you need to find the section in the title of which the word appears "Drivers" or Drivers. Click on the name of such a subsection.
  11. The next step is to select the operating system with the obligatory indication of the bit depth. As a rule, this is done in a special drop-down menu that is located in front of the list of drivers. In some cases, the bit depth cannot be changed, since it will be determined independently. In a similar menu, select the item Windows 7.
  12. Now, below on the page, you will see a list of all the drivers that need to be installed for your motherboard or laptop. In most cases, all software is divided into categories. This was done for easy searching. We are looking for a section in the list Bluetooth and open it. In this section, you will see the name of the driver, its size, version and release date. Without fail, there must be a button that will allow you to download the selected software. Press the button labeled Download or the corresponding picture. In our example, such a button is the image of a floppy disk and the inscription "Global".
  13. The installation file or archive will start downloading from necessary information. If you have downloaded an archive, then do not forget to extract all its contents before installing. After that, run from the folder a file called setup.
  14. You may be prompted to select a language before starting the Setup Wizard. Choose your choice and press the button "OK" or "Further".
  15. After that, preparations for installation will begin. A few seconds later you will see the main window of the installation program. Just click "Further" to continue.
  16. In the next window, you will need to specify the location where the utility will be installed. We recommend leaving the default value. If you still need to change it, then click the appropriate button "Change" or Browse. After that, specify the desired location. At the end, press the button again "Further".
  17. Now everything will be ready for installation. You can find out about this from the next window. Click the button to start the software installation. "Install" or Install.
  18. The software installation process will begin. It will take several minutes. At the end of the installation, you will see a message that the operation was successful. To complete, press the button "Ready".
  19. If necessary, reboot the system by clicking the appropriate button in the window that appears.
  20. If all actions were performed correctly, then in "Device Manager" you will see a separate section with a Bluetooth adapter.

This completes this method. Please note that in part it may be useful for owners of external adapters. In this case, you must also go to the manufacturer's website and through "Search" find your device model. The manufacturer and model of the equipment is usually indicated on the box or the device itself.

Method 2: Automatic Software Update Programs

When you need to install software for a Bluetooth adapter, you can turn to specialized programs for help. The essence of the work of such utilities is that they scan your computer or laptop and identify all the equipment for which you need to install software. This topic is very extensive and we devoted a separate lesson to it, where we reviewed the most famous utilities of this kind.

Which program to give preference - the choice is yours. But we strongly recommend using . This utility has both an online version and a downloadable driver database. In addition, it regularly receives updates and expands the list of supported hardware. How to update the software using DriverPack Solution is described in our lesson.

Method 3: Search software by hardware ID

We also have a separate topic devoted to this method due to the amount of information. In it, we talked about how to find out the ID and what to do with it next. Please note that this method is universal, as it is suitable for owners of integrated adapters and external ones at the same time.

Method 4: Device Manager

One of the methods listed above will definitely help you install drivers for your Bluetooth adapter. After that, you can connect various devices through it, as well as transfer data from a smartphone or tablet to a computer and vice versa. If during the installation process you have any difficulties or questions on this topic, feel free to write them in the comments. Let's help you figure it out.

In this article, I will try to explain in detail what to do in a situation where you have a desktop computer and you need to connect some device to it via Bluetooth. For example: wireless headphones, mouse, keyboard, acoustic system, joystick, phone, tablet, etc. There are a lot of such devices, and now there is no way without Bluetooth on a computer. In addition, such a connection allows us to get rid of a large number wires.

As you probably already know, in ordinary stationary computers (in system blocks) There is usually no built-in Bluetooth. Except for two cases: an internal PCI receiver (external USB) is installed, or you have a cool motherboard with a built-in wireless module. But there are very few of them, so it is unlikely. You can see the specifications of your motherboard. Well, if your PC had Bluetooth, then you would most likely already know about it. There would be an appropriate tray icon, or an adapter in Device Manager (possibly in the form of an unknown device - when the driver is not installed).

To connect Bluetooth devices to your computer, you need to buy and install a Bluetooth adapter in your computer. Usually, these are adapters that plug into a USB port. I have one, model Grand-X BT40G. It looks like this:

There are also PCI adapters, they are installed inside the case of the system unit. But they are not very popular. I will not dwell on choosing an adapter, as I wrote about this in a separate article. There are a lot of them on the market. There are both cheap and expensive models. From China, in general, you can order for three kopecks. But if you plan to use wireless connection, connect some serious devices via Bluetooth, such as headphones, joysticks, then it is better not to save on the adapter.

If you already have an adapter, we will configure it now. If not, read the article at the link above, choose, buy and return to this page.

I will divide this article into two parts: first I will show how to connect a Bluetooth adapter to a computer on Windows 10, configure it, if necessary, find and install the driver, and connect some device. And in the second part, we will do all this on a PC with installed Windows 7.

I do not currently have the opportunity to demonstrate all this on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, but from an older and new version this operating system (I have to enter seven and ten) there are not many differences.

Anyway, First, connect the Bluetooth adapter to the computer.

After that, we proceed to install drivers and configure.

Bluetooth on a Windows 10 PC: connection, drivers, settings

Windows 10 in this regard is generally a cool system. Why? Yes, because in almost all cases, no matter what adapter you have, after connecting, all drivers will be installed automatically, and a blue Bluetooth icon will appear in the tray. And you can immediately connect the necessary devices.

In the device manager, I immediately got the "Bluetooth" section and the adapter itself. If the adapter is not recognized and appears as an unknown device (other device), you will have to install the drivers manually. How to do this using the example of Windows 7, you can see at the end of this article.

And to connect headphones, gamepad, mouse, keyboard, or other Bluetooth device to your computer, go to "Settings" in the "Devices" section. Or by clicking on the tray icon and select "Add Bluetooth device".

Click on "Add Bluetooth or other device".

Then select "Bluetooth". The computer will start searching for available devices to connect. Our device must be in search mode. In my case, these are headphones. There is a separate button there. When they are in connection mode, the indicator flashes on them. When the computer detects our device, just select it and connect.

And if you want to connect a smartphone or tablet to your computer, then on the mobile device itself you will need to confirm the connection (pairing).

Thus, you can connect absolutely any Bluetooth device.

Setting up a Bluetooth adapter in Windows 7 and connecting devices to a computer

In Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8, the driver will most likely need to be installed automatically after the adapter is connected. But not always. In my case, Windows 7 itself installed the driver on my Grand-X BT40G USB Bluetooth adapter. The Bluetooth icon appeared immediately.

Here is a screenshot from Device Manager.

If the system could not recognize the device and install it, the icon did not appear, then you need to install the driver. How to do this, I will show below. And now let's connect some device via Bluetooth to a computer with installed Windows 7.

Click on the icon and select "Add Device".

A window will open that will display all the devices found by the computer. Which are on this moment are located near the computer and are available for connection. We select our device and the connection process will begin. I reconnected the Bluetooth headset (headphones with microphone). On which you can also talk on Skype.

When the message "This device has been added to your computer" appears, you can use it. In the same way, wireless mice (via Bluetooth), keyboards, phones and other devices are connected.

In the case of headphones, you may also need to set them as the default playback device. This can be done in the playback device settings. (by right-clicking on the sound icon in the tray).

Driver for Bluetooth adapter: search and installation

It doesn’t even matter what system is installed on your computer, it can be either Windows XP or Windows 10. But if it couldn’t automatically configure the connected Bluetooth adapter, then we will have to manually search for and install the required driver. There are at least three ways:

When the system cannot install a driver for a device, it is located in the device manager under "Other devices" with a yellow icon. How exactly your Bluetooth adapter will be displayed (named) is hard to say. If you didn’t have unknown devices there before, then it won’t be difficult to determine it (it will be one).

I have something like CSR 8510 A10 (looks like this is the chip the adapter is built on). Right-click on this device and select "Properties". Next, go to the "Details" tab, in the drop-down menu put "Equipment ID" and copy the first line.

Opening the site DevID.info, paste the copied line into the search bar and delete everything superfluous so that only the value of VID and PID remains. You can see what value I originally had (screenshot above), and what I searched for (screenshot below).

First, let's download the first driver that appeared in the search results. You need to click on the floppy disk icon. pay attention to operating system for which this driver is suitable.

We pass the "I'm not a robot" check, click on the link and save the archive with the driver.

If there is no installation file there, but just a set of folders and some files, then right-click on the unknown device in Device Manager, select "Update driver" - "Search for drivers on the computer" and specify the path to the folder with the drivers. If the driver is not found and installed, then try downloading another one.

I really hope that the article was useful to you, and you still added Bluetooth to your computer and were able to connect the necessary devices. And I did not waste half a day 🙂
