Surely, many of you have seen in the departments of souvenirs or flower shops original branches that are twisted in a spiral. They can be added to bouquets or used as an independent element of decor.
Today we will tell you how to make such decorative branches independently, and nature itself will kindly provide us with the material for this hand-made.

On a note:
We are accustomed to the fact that in autumn deciduous trees shed their foliage, but not everyone knows that, in preparation for winter, some trees shed not only leaves, but also twigs! Branch fall is observed in aspens, oaks, elms, willows and poplars. Thin twigs of willow have long been a favorite material for hand makers. They are elastic, easy to weave, so they inspire craftsmen to create new crafts. Do you also want to experiment with this material? End of September-beginning of October - it's time to collect fallen willow branches and get down to business!
To make spiral branches you will need:
- willow branches;
- the basis of the required diameter, on which branches will need to be wound (handle from household equipment, rolling pin, gymnastic stick, etc.);
- threads or laces to secure the branches on the base;
- spray paint in case you do not plan to leave the branches in their original form and want to paint them.

Well, now let's get down to business!

Preparing branches for twisting. We place them in a basin with hot water for a couple of hours, adding periodically hot water. Steamed branches will become even more elastic and will easily twist even into the tightest spiral.

The next step is to twist the willow branches around the base. For these purposes, we used a gymnastic stick. At the base, the branches should be left level so that they fit easily into the vase.

We advise you to fix the branches on the base with threads or fabric laces. If you decide to use adhesive tape for these purposes, then be prepared for the fact that under the adhesive tape (after removal from the base) the branches will remain damp and over time, when they begin to dry out, your correct spiral may be broken - the branch will straighten or, on the contrary, bend in the other direction .On this basis, willow branches should dry for at least two days. We do not recommend drying them near heating appliances, otherwise they will dry out and may break when removed from the base.

After two days, we untie the upper thread. If the branches hold their shape, then we can safely remove them from the base. These are the spiral branches that Leader-Press got!

give desired color branches can be easily and quickly spray-painted. We experimented and this is what we came up with.

Even a child will master the manufacture of such spiral branches. It's interesting, simple, accessible. You will not need to invest much effort, time and money, but the result will definitely please you and bring a piece of comfort and warmth to your interior. Creative inspiration to you!
