Every child needs the development of personal potential and a place for solitude. And even having their own room, some children try to isolate themselves from outside world, building various structures. You shouldn't disturb them. On the contrary, parents should help their child in this endeavor. For example, build a wigwam with your own hands by studying the master class. The child will be very happy with such a gift. In a tent original form he will be able to play, read, watch cartoons and even sleep.

Before you start making a hut, you need to clarify one point. A wigwam is considered to be any Indian dwelling that has a cone shape. In fact, such a structure is called a “teepee.” This is a hut on a frame made of poles, which is covered with processed animal skin or canvas (became common after the development of trade with Europeans).

A wigwam is a dome-shaped structure, the frame of which is made of thin trunks. As protective coating bark and branches protrude. Such a hut was installed for various rituals (not for permanent housing).

To decorate the tipi, the Indians used various decor: amulets, necklaces, hunting trophies. Sometimes the hut was painted bright colors, each of which meant certain natural phenomena. A modern wigwam looks exactly like this, although its name comes from a different design.

The finished structure is quite expensive, so not every parent will decide to purchase such a house for their child. However, you can make a wigwam yourself. The product will turn out no worse than store-bought, perhaps even better.

When deciding to make a wigwam, you must adhere to some rules:

  • The building should be given the shape of a cone;
  • The fabric should not cover the ends of the sticks (the upper hole provides fresh air).

To make a wigwam, it is not necessary to use waterproof fabric; it is enough to arm yourself with dense material (if we are talking about an outdoor building). Thanks to the special design, water will flow down the walls of the hut without getting inside.

Don't forget about decorative elements. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to decorate the hut with feathers and stones, as the Indians did. You just need to add some zest to the building: tie bright ribbons, add beads or flags, hang small drawings of the child inside. Any ideas are worthy of implementation.

DIY children's wigwam: master class on making

You should start with a simple design consisting of five slats. The number of supports directly depends on the area of the wigwam, so from this number you can make a fairly spacious dwelling.

The work of creating such a hut does not involve fussing with patterns and sewing. However, this type of design also has a significant disadvantage: fragility.

Materials needed to create a wigwam:

The first step is to tie the sticks: first, one pair is fixed with twine, then the other. The fifth rail is inserted between them. Next, the resulting frame must be tied with twine again, fastening all the parts. Hide the junction with a piece of fabric, which must be pulled between the slats and secured with paper clips.

All that remains is to cover the structure with two types of material, which must be wrapped around the sticks and secured. The entrance must first be marked: the fabric is not wound between these slats. After finishing the work, the building can be decorated and insulated by placing a fluffy blanket and pillows inside.

How to sew a wigwam: we make a structure on three supports

A tent with three legs is stronger and more durable, so this structure can also be built for outdoor games.

To make it you will need:

  • Fabric (several meters);
  • Sintepon;
  • Tapes;
  • Wooden beams (3 pcs);
  • Threads, scissors;
  • Tape measure;
  • Chalk, marker;
  • Oilcloth.

First you need to draw patterns on plastic oilcloth, which are then cut out. The base for the tent should be triangular in shape with equal sides 1, 2 meters. For the walls of the hut you will need a pattern in the form of a triangle with a base of 1.2 meters and a height of 1.8 meters.

When transferring drawings to fabric, you must leave 2 centimeters on each side for seams.

The base is cut out in two copies from fabric and one from padding polyester. Then these blanks need to be sewn together. To fix the slats in the base, you need to make pockets, which are formed from separate pieces of fabric in the shape of a square with a side of 10 cm. You should also prepare four ribbons for ties, two of them sewed to the base.

Next you need to cut out three walls for the hut. One of them will be the entrance: to mark it at the bottom of the fabric, you need to make two cuts, finishing the edges with tape. Sew ties on both sides to secure the material.

From the cut out walls we sew a tent cape, leaving a little space in the upper part. This work can be done either by hand or using a sewing machine. Then assemble the support structure by inserting slats into the corners of the base and tying it with tape at the top. Place the fabric cape over the fastened poles and secure them in the pockets.

How to make a paper hut: a simple craft for children

Very young children do not need personal space, so the construction of a large wigwam can be postponed until a certain point. At the age of 3–4 years, potential should be developed through other activities: modeling or performing various crafts.

You can start getting acquainted with a wigwam by making a simple paper structure. This model is easy to make: just cut out a circle and roll it into a cone. Then trim the base for stability and mark the entrance.

The top and walls of the product should be decorated with bright plasticine. To raise interest in this topic, you can make figures of Indians and decorate the hearth.

How to make a wigwam with your own hands (video instructions)

A children's wigwam should not fully comply with the established idea of this Indian structure. Its design can be anything. The main thing is that the new home is comfortable and durable. The child, climbing inside, should feel safe, calmly doing things that interest him. And parents, in turn, need to be confident in the durability of the structure.

Well, what is summer without your own home?

Nowadays many companies are engaged in the sale of such houses. With my master class I will try to convince you that you can make a house yourself! Even if you haven't sewed since craft lessons in 6th grade.

We will need:

3 meters of fabric with a width of 1.5 meters (for the base, walls of the house);

50 cm of fabric 1.5 meters wide for windows, pockets (you can use different fabrics, you can use the same fabric as the wigwam itself);

4 sticks about 180 cm long, made of hardware store(drill for holes);

Thread 1 spool to match;

Velcro about 30-35 cm;

A cord of about 70-100 cm to tie the base;

Sewing machine, scissors, pins;

The desire to create real estate for a child;

A little free space for cutting and free time for sewing.

Let's get started! Let's start with the most important step, cutting out the walls.

Entrust the most difficult work the laziest - he will figure out how to make it simpler... We will cut the entire wigwam, all 4 walls in 2 cuts, don’t you believe it? Let's get started. In this diagram, you can see that all the lines are symmetrical; we fold the fabric with the pattern inward, in half. We retreat 10 cm on each side of the bottom. We retreat 65 cm on each side of the top. We connect the marks with sticks, draw, cut.

Do you see how the sticks are lying? These are the lines we will be cutting along! 2 long cuts, folded and got 5 parts. Why 5? After all, there are only 4 walls! It's simple - 3 whole walls and 4 sides (the entrance consists of 2 halves).

So we got:

Side 1 is blank.

Side 2 - pocket.

Side 3 - window.

Side 4 consists of 2 halves - this is the entrance.

If you are not confident in yourself, you can make all sides (except the entrance) solid.

Complex work needs to be broken down into steps and it will become easier. and the first step, side 1, is already ready. the first step has been taken!

Side 2 - pocket.

We cut out the fabric, mine measures 30x40 cm, fold the edge inward and sew it into the middle of the wall.

Wall 3 - window.

We folded our wall in half and cut out a window, cutting it 25x27 cm (all approximately).

Instead of wasting fabric, we’ll make “shutters” out of it, sewing an edge of about 7 cm on all sides.

We cover the window itself with fabric, and we make a “double-glazed window” using just strips of fabric.

I sewed the shutters in 2 layers of fabric so that they were a little denser and all the seams remained inside.

We sew on bias tape, or just another fabric, to make a frame for the window.

We make a double-glazed window.

You can leave it like this, this time I made shutters with Velcro that opened downward (when there were ropes, the child constantly asked to tie and untie, but he can do it himself).

Above the window there is Velcro, under the window there is a seam for sewing the shutter.

4th wall - entrance. You can get by with fabric walls, I added a little yellow fabric to the edge and blue to the top. We measure how the wall should be based on any entire wall; it is better to sew the entrance fabric slightly overlapping.

All 4 walls are ready :) All that remains is to sew everything together and make the side seams. It's long, long, but simple. You need a lot of thread and time to simply sew the edges of the walls right along the front side, I was not mistaken on the front side!

When all 4 seams are ready, we hem the top and bottom of the wigwam.

Last 4 stitches left. Make places where we will insert our base sticks.

We measure the stick - how much space it needs. I have thick “brutal” poles, so the distance from the edge is 4.5 cm, we sew all 4 seams again. In my description, the sticks will be inside the wigwams. I know 3 more ways “how to sew a base for sticks,” but in my opinion, this is the simplest. I tried it on and the base all fits :) (0)

How to sew a wigwam?

First you need to master the technology and learn more about how to make a wigwam for children. This will require special tools and materials.

For the frame you should prepare:

  • 6 bars, the length of which is about two meters, and the thickness is from 3 to 4 cm. You can also choose bamboo sticks;
  • Rope of special strength;
  • drill and drill;
  • good rubber band.

To make an awning you will need:

  • a piece of natural fabric (linen or cotton) with a length of up to three meters and a width of 1.3-1.5 meters. The material must be dense;
  • 6 strips of fabric. You can take ribbons, ribbons or cords up to 30 cm long;
  • threads to match the fabric and needle;
  • to finish the edges, you can take self-adhesive tape or thread and a sewing machine;
  • To make a door you will need lace or other accessories - rivets and buttons. Eyelets of small diameter.

You will also need a pencil and pins. Step-by-step instruction includes the following steps.

Step 1

A frame element is being made. It can be done different ways.

All bars are collected together and tied with an elastic band. In this case, you need to retreat 10-25 cm from the top. The poles are widely spaced on the sides. The wigwam diagram clearly demonstrates how this can be done. The elements must be at the same distance. In this case, a wider space should be left for the door. The frame must be firmly installed.

There is another way. A through hole is drilled in each stick using a drill. In this case, you need to step back 10-25 cm from the top edge. Then the poles are tied together. Then the elements are spread apart to form a cone. The top should be wrapped with rope.

Step 2

Then you need to make a wigwam canopy. To do this, you need to clarify the size of the wigwam. The fabric is laid out on the floor in the form of a square with sides of 1.5 meters. The fold line should be placed on the left side of the square. The square is connected diagonally. In this case, you need to add two opposite corners to form a triangle.

Step 3

Cutting is being done. First, the markup is drawn. In this case, an arc is drawn from the fold line to one of the sides. Then a second arc with a diameter of approximately 8 cm is drawn. Cutting is carried out according to the markings. The fabric can then be spread out on the floor. This should create an awning in the shape of a rainbow.

Step 4

The frame is wrapped in fabric with the inside out. The ends need to be fastened with pins. The fabric must be marked where it comes into contact with the bars at a height of 22-25 cm from the floor.

Step 5

The material is removed from the frame part. Pieces of twine or tape are sewn in place of the markings.

Step 6

All fabric sections must be carefully processed. To do this, the edges are folded twice and stitched manually or at sewing machine. You can also glue them using a special tape.

Step 7

To complete the sewing, you need to think about how the edges of the awning will be fastened. You can use eyelets that lace up. Buttons, ribbons or even snaps will do.

Step 8

The wigwam is covered with an awning. His top part should be fastened and the doors rolled back. They are secured with ribbons or Velcro. A blanket or rug is laid inside, you can put beautiful pillows. You can put flags on the sticks, and decorate the canvas with tassels, LED garland and pom-poms.

Such an unusual hut can be placed in the yard or on the playground, and brought into the house at night. If the awning gets dirty, it can be easily washed.

How to make a wigwam exclusive?

To make the design original and unique, you can use different design ideas. When choosing fabric, you should give preference to two options that will combine beautifully with each other. Houses with removable covers that can be removed and cleaned are especially convenient.

The frame can be made from a different number of sticks. This depends on the future configuration of the product.

The design can be supplemented with flags and a window or played with color composition. The black and white solution looks unusual. The option for princesses can be made not only in pink, but also in yellow or lilac color scheme. The option with garlands looks magical. To create a product in a marine style, you should choose the appropriate textiles.

Hi all! Today we will become real builders! I think that after what we do to you today, our children will be truly proud of us! What kind of program awaits us today? DIY wigwam patterns sizes! Did you have houses or tents when you were a child? I'm sure they were! No one grew up without having their own house, their own personal space! So, let's go?

But first things first! First, it’s worth saying a few words about what a house for a baby is. Why does he need it and how can we help our little ones. And then a master class awaits you! Not just one, but 3 at once! I have made a selection of three wonderful models of wigwams that are assembled in different ways. You can choose exactly the one that you like best, that suits you and that seems more accessible to you.

Wigwam for toddlers

I’ll tell you right away why this tent is important for children:

  1. This is their personal space;
  2. Like your gift.
  3. This is a space designed specifically for little ones. It is clear that the whole room can belong to them. But adults can also enter the room; no one can “break into” a tent so easily anymore.
  4. You devoted your time and labor to create a hut. And the kids, seeing how hard you were trying, felt your attention and love!

These huts are convenient to take to the beach or in nature; they fold up easily and can protect from the sun and wind.

Instructions for making wigwams

Now let's talk about how to make a wigwam. I will offer 3 options and tell you in detail and step by step how to make houses for little ones. Which one will you make? The choice is yours. Just take into account:

  • toddler age,
  • its capabilities,
  • how long will he be interested in playing in his hut,
  • How many free space you have,
  • what “building” materials are available to you.

Our option. A hut in 10 minutes without sewing or patterns.

My son and I showed in the video how you can build a house for little ones in a few minutes:

Option two. Wigwam without sewing from patches

Any old things or scraps of fabric will do. It looks bright, cheerful, and is done very simply and interestingly.

Option three."Triangular tent" Frame construction

What we need:

  • Wooden slats - 4 pieces, each size 2.5 x 4 x 150 cm;
  • Rod dowel (round slats) – 3 pieces measuring 1.5 x 100 cm;
  • Fabric – 4.5 m;
  • Colored ribbon.

Option four. "Indian House" Stable design

We will need:

  • Wooden sticks with a diameter of 2 by 2.5 cm and a length of 150 cm;
  • Fabric – 137 by 315 cm;
  • Tape – 250cm;
  • Strip of fabric - 7.5 by 700 cm.

This is a more complex design, and therefore is attached step by step photo describing all actions in detail.

  1. We cut the rectangle of fabric so that on one side along the length of the fabric there are 2 triangles, on the other - 1 triangle and 2 halves of a triangle along the edges. The dimensions of the triangles at the bottom are 152 cm (2 patterns) and 155.5 cm (2 patterns, one whole, the other from two halves of 77.5 cm). Everywhere between the triangles the distance is 4 cm. The vertex of each triangle is not connected by the same amount, 4 cm.

Option five. "Hut." Temporary structure

We will need:

  • Sticks – from 4 to 6 pcs. about 1.5 long;
  • Fabric – 1.5 by 3 m;
  • Rope – 2-3m;
  • Plastic rings - according to the number of sticks.

This option is so simple that our child can help. Hut children's pattern not needed here. The main thing is that the structure itself is temporary and collapsible, but must remain safe for toddlers. What are we doing for this?

  1. Before starting work, align all the sticks. This is important for the structure to be stable.
  2. We firmly tie the ropes to the edge, retreating approximately 20cm.
  3. Fold the fabric in half and then diagonally. Cut a semicircle from the top and from the bottom. By cutting off all excess we ensure safety. The fabric will not be under the baby's feet, and he will not trip over it.
  4. Now you simply throw the fabric over a base of sticks, slats or bamboo. We tie it firmly to the sticks with a rope from above.
  5. We put rings on the bottom of the poles and sew them to the tent canvas.
  6. We hem the edges of the canvas. We put a blanket, wool or a warm rug on the floor of the hut.

If you want to fix the sticks better so that the ropes below do not interfere, then the easiest option is to make a hexagon rug, sew rings or ties in the corners and insert the parkas into these rings. Then they will not move apart and randomly change position.

Best for children best gift– this is their childhood! To make it the best, sometimes it’s enough to remember all the brightest moments of your youth. Remember how your parents spoiled you, gave you a lot of impressions and enveloped us with their love. Then it becomes clear that children need both pranks and funny games. They need us to make toys for them. They will never forget this! And in due time, these warm memories will help them become excellent parents.

Now it's time to say goodbye! I remind you to subscribe so that you and I don’t get lost. Not only will you be able to read the articles yourself and participate in our conversations, but you can also invite your friends!
