I also have two plants at first quietly coexisting in one pot. But then the leaves began to turn yellow, so the seedlings had to be planted urgently. In summer, it is better to take the persimmon outside or onto the balcony, gradually accustoming it to the sun. It is difficult to grow at home, as they need special conditions - high humidity, special temperature, ventilation and lighting. For their planting, the so-called mycelium is needed, that is, germinated spores of fungi. The mushroom picker is placed in a substrate (a mixture of oats, millet, rye, barley and other cereals), where it takes the form of thin white threads, from which mushrooms then grow. Attention: for successful growth, mushrooms need 95% humidity and a temperature of no more than 20 ºС. In addition, during ripening, mushrooms release a strong allergen into the air, so experts do not recommend growing mushrooms in an apartment. Perfect option- a plot near the house or, in extreme cases, a balcony.

It is enough to cut off the top with leaves (do not forget to clean out the pulp, otherwise the plant will rot) and place it in a glass of water. Soon roots will appear on the outlet, which means that the pineapple is ready for planting. Delete a few lower leaves and stick the socket into the ground about 2-3 centimeters. This is familiar to many beginner gardeners. The same feeling that you experience when a fragile sprout suddenly hatches from a seed planted by your hand.
For some, at such moments, there is a feeling of a miracle and involvement in Nature. Others turn on God Mode. But in a closed space, and even in winter, both often result in uncontrolled botanical ecstasy, and the seeds of all exotic fruits that are found in the area are sent to the ground in generous handfuls.

This is understandable: growing a lemon, pomegranate, or even a peach from a seed is much more interesting than buying a finished plant or getting it from a cutting. Let's try to find out which fruit seeds can be planted and what such experiments can lead to at home. It is easy and quite accessible to everyone.
From pits to citrus
Mandarin, orange and their hybrid clementine, lemon and lime, grapefruit, pomelo (sheddock) and their hybrid sweetie (oroblanco), mineola (a kind of tangelo - a hybrid of mandarin and grapefruit), kumquat (aka kinkan or fortunella), limequat (kumquat hybrid with lime), orangequat (hybrid of kumquat with mandarin unshiu), calamondin (citrofortunella), etc.: representatives of the genus citrus are beautiful, fragrant, many-sided and available for experiments almost all year round.
The seeds selected for sowing should be as fresh as possible: without additional moisture, their germination decreases every day. General recommendations for planting are quite simple: wash the seeds and plant them in a well-moistened mixture of garden soil, peat and river sand (or in a special soil for citrus fruits). As soon as the sprouts have 1-2 true leaves, they need to be seated. And it is better to immediately sow them in separate pots or cups.
Citrus seeds are interesting because you never know what will grow out of them: their seedlings, especially hybrids, usually do not retain the varietal characteristics of their parents. A wildling will grow from a citrus seed, and you may have to wait 10 years for your own harvest. Therefore, if your goal is to collect lemons or oranges directly from the windowsill, it is better to find cuttings of the right varieties and plant your seedlings. This can be done one and a half years after landing.
Excellent rootstocks grow from the seeds of a lemon, orange or grapefruit - healthy, strong and originally adapted to home conditions. But kumquats, tangerines and various hybrids are more capricious and are not suitable for rootstocks: their root system is not so powerful.
Despite the generic "community", citrus fruits behave differently when grown from seeds. Tangerines, for example, are "slow" in growth, but not so demanding on the composition of the soil. The first shoots from mandarin seeds may appear in 3-4 weeks. A kumquat planted at the same time will “think” for up to 2 months. Each citrus has its own timing of flowering and fruiting. But they have enough common enemies: dry air, spider mites, scale insects, aphids, etc.
The most popular "supplier" of material for citrus experiments was and remains lemon.
Persimmon from the bone
Diospyros, or persimmon, is a "divine" fruit from the Ebony family, which is rarely seen on windowsills. Meanwhile, it is also quite possible to grow it from a bone. It is done like this:
Washed and slightly dried persimmon seeds are planted in moistened soil, covered with foil, glass or a piece of plastic bottle and put in a warm place.
We periodically remove the "greenhouse", ventilate and moisten the soil.
As soon as sprouts appear, the shelter can be removed. Waiting for shoots is not long: just a couple of weeks. But if during this time you have not seen them, then they are unlikely to appear at all. However, persimmon germination is not bad. For example, out of three seeds planted on November 23, 2014, two successfully sprouted. Here is one of the shoots today:

Two plants at first quietly coexisted in one pot. But then the leaves began to turn yellow, so the seedlings had to be planted urgently. At first, transshipment will be required more than once or twice, because. persimmon has a powerful root system that develops rapidly and requires free space. And moisture. Persimmons need regular watering and spraying. Therefore, we carefully monitor the soil, avoiding either overdrying or overflow.
Experienced persimmon growers advise twice a month to feed the plant with fertilizers (mineral and organic alternately). As soon as the "tree" grows to 20-30 cm, you can begin to form it by pinching. In summer, it is better to take the persimmon outside or onto the balcony, gradually accustoming it to the sun. But she needs to provide a cool wintering (5-10 ° C): for example, in the basement. If a tree lives at home from November to March, sooner or later it will die.
In room conditions, persimmon grows up to only one and a half meters. If a tree is grafted (by a cutting into a split in winter or by a bud at the end of summer), then it can bear fruit in 3-4 years. Otherwise, the harvest will have to wait for the same amount (and not the fact that it will be).
Dried fruit date palm
I always loved dried dates, but last year these guys surprised me: I didn’t know that something could grow out of them.
It turns out, how! Dates during drying are not subjected to heat treatment. So, their seeds do not lose their germination. And from them you can try to grow a palm tree. Only the bones are better to pre-soak. Although this is not necessary if the product is fresh, i.e. came from his homeland to our shelves recently. But just in case, I played it safe and soaked the date seeds for about a week, changing the water every day. True, she did not scarify and did not suit other dances with a tambourine. I stuck them vertically in a mixture of peat and sand and moistened with a spray bottle every other day or two as needed. About a month later, my future palms sprouted:

It’s too early to think about the harvest) Although no one will forbid us to dream, at best, a palm tree will grow from each date “feather”.
Provided that she has enough light and space, and I - patience. And, alas, I have not yet come across evidence that she is able to bear fruit in room conditions.
Date palm care consists in regular watering (without overdrying the earthy coma, and watering is minimized in winter) and spraying, airing, providing enough light and conditions for a cool winter. In addition, in the first "five-year period" the plant needs an annual transshipment into a larger pot. But how cool, probably, in the evening to sit down under a palm tree to drink tea!

Huge bones are hidden in the fruits of this large Indian guest. "Mango" is even translated from Sanskrit as "great fruit". Its seeds are extracted from ripe fruits, opened, the core is removed and germinated in a light and loose substrate (suitable for cacti or succulents). Expanded clay drainage is placed at the bottom of the pot - as, indeed, in all other cases.
The middle of the already opened bone is planted immediately. The unopened one is carefully opened (if it is ready for this).
If it is impossible to push the wings apart without effort, the bone is first kept for a couple of weeks directly in the water (the water is changed every other day) or wrapped in damp cotton wool / towel. At the same time, it is extremely important not to allow drying out. After germination, they must be regularly sprayed: mango is sensitive to air humidity, as well as light and heat. He absolutely cannot stand the cold, and even at +18 he begins to feel uncomfortable.
Having decided to grow mango from the stone, be prepared for the fact that you will have to wait for flowering for 5 or even 10 years at best. However, this does not mean at all that the matter will end with fruits: the flowers of this exotic guest are very difficult to pollinate even in natural conditions , what can we say about the windowsill in foreign latitudes.
feijoa
In the case of feijoa (which is also called acca and belongs to the Myrtle family, which, translated into the language of flower growers, means some difficulties with wintering), the situation is approximately the same as with citrus fruits: varietal characteristics are almost not preserved during seed propagation, which means that seedlings will have to be grafted. If this does not stop you, keep in mind that the seeds for planting should be taken from a ripe and soft fruit (it will ripen perfectly in a warm place). Small seeds should be carefully washed from the pulp and dried. Sowing should be carried out superficially, without deepening (you can mix the seeds with sand).
If the seeds have enough light, heat and humidity, they will germinate in about a month. In the first months, akki seedlings develop rapidly, so they need picking and transshipment, and then pinching to form a compact crown.
Fig tree (fig)
Seeds of figs (figs, or ficus karika) for planting are “extracted” in the same way as from feijoa: they must be carefully washed, dried and sown superficially in moist, loose soil. Then lightly “powder” with sand, cover with a film and find a warmer place for them. They germinate in about 3 weeks, all this time they need to be regularly moistened and ventilated.
Sometimes there are difficulties with fruiting, but some gardeners manage to get fig fruits already from three to four year old seedlings.
Passion fruit (passiflora)
Passion fruit, also known as passionflower, is actually a tropical vine from the Passionflower family.
The fruits of this evergreen beauty from South America are edible whole, including the crispy seeds. However, if you plant them, there is a chance that you will grow a vine, and someday you will admire its luxurious flowering without leaving your home.

Lychee
According to legend, one Chinese emperor ordered his gardeners to be executed because they failed to grow this sugary miracle.
Since then, has lychee been considered one of the most problematic candidates for pitting at home? But this is true, if only because the "Chinese plum" is one of those rare plants that require mycorrhiza. Otherwise, this is a very cute creature with narrow pinkish leaves.

In order to grow such a handsome man from a grain, it is easier to immediately go to Africa, Asia or South America and collect coffee tree fruits there. Seeds ordered in an online store are unlikely to germinate: they lose their germination very quickly (I say this from my own sad experience: it is quite possible that I am wrong, and you will be more lucky). In loose, slightly acidic soil and greenhouse conditions with good lighting, the coffee bean will eventually turn into a wonderful tree.
Growing seedlings is exciting, sometimes even too much.
But over time, you realize that this is a thankful job - for patient, caring and responsible "testers". Eat fruit, plant seeds and wait for sprouts - this is so, the candy-bouquet period. And here the most interesting begins further. After all, the fruits of labor will have to wait for years. And in the literal sense, you can’t wait for the fruits at all (in the case of avocados and date palms, that’s for sure). At the same time, no one canceled the care of the pet - watering, fertilizing, light and thermal conditions. The main thing is to remember that we are responsible for everyone who was planted in a pot of soil and forced to sprout from the seeds.
