Braised cabbage with potatoes can serve as an independent dish or as a side dish for any meat. The recipe for stewed cabbage with potatoes is simple and known to many, but still every housewife prepares it in her own way. I offer my version, maybe it will be useful to someone.

And I also want to remind you that you can feed your family heartily and cheaply, and for this it is not at all necessary to stand at the stove for hours or eat semi-finished products. Freshly prepared homemade food is always tastier and healthier!

Today in my menu stewed cabbage with potatoes. To do this, we use the simplest set of vegetables.

I cooked a dish for two, although for someone it will be like for one, it all depends on the appetite!

Ingredients

  • White cabbage -200 grams
  • Potato - one medium-sized root vegetable
  • Carrot - 1 piece
  • Onion - 1 head
  • Tomato juice - 100-150 ml
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Bay leaf -1-2 leaves
  • Dried celery - a pinch
  • Salt, sugar and pepper - to taste

I used a frying pan for cooking.

STEWED CABBAGE WITH POTATOES PHOTO RECIPE

Let's start our cooking with potatoes. We clean it from the peel, wash it and then cut it into small cubes.

Heat up a frying pan and add 1-2 tbsp. vegetable oil and send potatoes there. Fry it over medium heat, almost until cooked (about 5-7 minutes)

In the meantime, peel the potatoes, wash and chop the onion finely enough.

We also clean the carrots from the top layer, wash and rub on a coarse grater.

We remove the prepared ruddy potatoes from the pan, and send onions and carrots in its place. Add vegetable oil if necessary.

Vegetables should not float in oil, but it is not advisable to cook them in a dry frying pan, it will not taste good. And we need our dish stewed cabbage with potatoes to turn out delicious.

Cover the pan with a lid and sauté the vegetables over low heat.

While the carrots and onions are cooking, we are chopping the cabbage. Try to cut the cabbage as thinly as possible.

Pour it into the skillet. Mix everything, add salt, add a little vegetable oil again. Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat.

We try, and if the cabbage has become soft, then it's time to add potatoes to the pan. For the aroma of our dish, stewed cabbage with potatoes put a little dry or fresh fragrant grass. I have dry celery. It has a very strong smell, so I put quite a bit of it.

With potatoes: recipe

For the first recipe you will need:

  • several medium-sized potatoes (5-6 pieces);
  • half a medium-sized head of cabbage;
  • bay leaf, cumin;
  • salt pepper;
  • one piece of onion and carrot;
  • tomato paste - 2-3 tablespoons;
  • water - one and a half glasses;
  • vegetable oil for frying.

Cooking technology

How it is prepared This hearty, fragrant and tasty dish can be prepared in many various ways. Let's use the simplest one.

Wash potatoes, peel and cut thinly. Rinse it under water to remove excess starch. Cut the carrot into thin strips, chop the onion into half rings. Rinse the cabbage a little (if required) and chop finely with a knife or shredder. Cabbage should be twice as much as potatoes.

Fry the potatoes until fully cooked in oil. Transfer to a separate dish. Saute carrots and onions in the same pan. Then add cabbage. Fry for 5 minutes while stirring. Then pour in a glass of water. Simmer until half cooked. Add cooked potatoes to vegetables, put spices and salt.

Dilute the tomato paste with water. Pour the cabbage with the resulting sauce. Bring the dish to readiness over medium heat. Stewed cabbage with potatoes served hot. If desired, you can sprinkle the dish with herbs and add a spoonful of sour cream.

With cabbage, meat and spices? It will not be difficult if you have the following products at your disposal:

  • ham or a piece of boiled meat (pork, beef) - weighing about 300 grams;
  • several large potato tubers;
  • onion head;
  • half a head of cabbage - about 500 grams;
  • a quarter glass of water;
  • salt, pepper, paprika;
  • a couple of tablespoons of butter.

Cooking technology

For stewing, use a thick-walled pot or deep frying pan. Melt butter in it. Fry the chopped onion. After it becomes translucent, put the shredded cabbage into the pan. Pour in water, close the lid and simmer for about 10 minutes over medium heat.

Wash the potatoes, remove the skin, cut into cubes. Add to cabbage and simmer another 10 minutes. Keep an eye on the water level - if necessary, add another quarter cup.

Salt the cabbage, add paprika and pepper. If desired, you can put a clove of garlic. Cut the ham into cubes or Add to the rest of the ingredients. Stewed cabbage with potatoes and meat is almost ready. Wait until all the vegetables are soft and remove the pan from the heat. Season the dish with herbs. Can be served with sour cream.

  • Sunflower oil (for frying) - 20 ml (2 tablespoons).
  • Salt - 12 g (1/2 tbsp).

Let's prepare the ingredients. Onion, peel potatoes, garlic and carrots, free the cabbage from the upper leaves.
