My recipe for pumpkin porridge with rice

There are many recipes for pumpkin porridge. It is cooked on milk, on water; with rice, millet, semolina; with the addition of dried fruits or without them; in a slow cooker, oven, on fire ... Each of us can choose for ourselves any way to cook porridge.

I confess to you that delicious pumpkin porridge did not turn out right away. But by trial and experiment, I got my own proven recipe.

To prepare pumpkin porridge, I take:

1) 500-600 gr. pumpkins (by the way, in order not to buy a new pumpkin every time and not waste time peeling and cutting it, it is very convenient to store pumpkin already peeled and cut into small pieces in the freezer);

2) 1 tbsp. rice

3) 1.5 st. water;

4) 2 tbsp. milk;

5) sugar, salt, vanilla to taste;

6) if desired, raisins, finely chopped dried fruits;

7) a little oil.

I cook pumpkin porridge as follows:

1. I clean the pumpkin and cut it into small pieces (or take it out of the freezer 😉), put it in a saucepan and fill it with water. I cook until cooked, then knead until smooth, add salt, sugar (you can, by the way, do without them, and only then add honey to the finished porridge).

2. I cook rice separately from pumpkin until tender. By the way, I'll tell you my little secret :-). I cook rice in the microwave. Why am I doing this? I am one of those housewives who simply cannot do it on the stove: it burns, sticks, sticks together, and undercooks ... In general, I have such a problem. 🙂 I guess I'm not alone in this. But in the microwave, rice turns out perfect.
