Reviews

Below are reviews from consumers so that you can get a more complete picture of the real properties and characteristics of the SV.

PositiveNegative
This lubricant can be called universal. In fact, it can be used anywhere, not just in cars. For example, I’m on my motorcycle. I even lubricated the hinges of the entrance doors so that they would not creak :). In general, I am satisfied with its use; I have been using Castrol LMX for more than three years. Everything is fine, I can’t say anything bad.At one time I also wanted to buy Castrol LMH, but I asked around the sellers at the car market and they all unanimously declared that this lubricant was of poor quality. Like, every second customer complains about it. I decided to read reviews on the Internet. I typed a query into the search, and on the first page all the comments were purely positive and almost identical. I didn't dare use it. In addition, I looked at the packaging from Castrol in local supermarkets; German production is not indicated anywhere, although the original should be manufactured in Germany.
Several years ago I heard a suspicious noise begin to appear when driving a car (VAZ 2115). Initially it was not so loud, but over time the sound only grew. Since I was used to skating with loud music, at first I didn’t even pay attention to it. Over time, it began to bother me and a friend recommended it. He also gave me a tube of Castrol LMH. Immediately after lubrication, the sounds did not disappear, but literally after 5-10 kilometers everything disappeared. So take Castrol, you won’t regret it.Where a year ago I decided to try this remedy. Then I installed new bearings on my “seven” and decided to immediately lubricate them so that they would last longer. Moreover, I listened to enough advice from the seller. Bought. After 7 months a strange noise began. I checked the bearings - not only were they broken, they were simply completely crushed. I had to buy new ones. Although the production of bearings is the same, only before this they worked at least 10 thousand kilometers, and now they have not completed even two thousand. Therefore, I can only blame the lubricant; the vaunted quality did not suit me.
I was also generally satisfied with the quality of Castrol, so I am leaving a positive review. The fact that the lubricant really forms a protective layer on the rubbing components is really not a lie. Here it is tested not only by me, but also by my friends in the garage. The bearings definitely work like new. But the car is almost ten years old and I haven’t climbed there in its entire life. Surprisingly, everything is fine, although I lubricated the bearings three years ago.I also want to share my bitter experience of using LMH. About six months ago I had to replace the CV joint on the car. The so-called specialist at the station recommended that I lubricate it with Castrol. Result: the “grenade” did not work for even six months. First, a crash appeared while driving, and not just any sound, but a crash, so strong that the whole area heard me. As it turned out later, the CV joint was cracked. And I remember exactly that it cracked exactly in the place where I lubricated it.

Castrol LMX LI Komplexfett greases are designed for a wide range of applications and are particularly successful in wheel bearings for a variety of vehicles operating under severe conditions. A complex of additives allows them to operate stably under high loads of prolonged exposure, including under conditions of elevated temperatures that occur during prolonged braking. The liquid has thermal stability and excellent mechanical stability, which allows it to maintain good performance over a long period of time.

Manufacturer

Castrol is one of the trendsetters among global manufacturers of various types of lubricants. Production is located in 40 countries, and the headquarters is located in the UK.

Composition and production technology

Castrol LMX lubricant is based on petroleum mineral oil base oil, which is thickened with lithium soap. To improve the characteristics and performance properties, additives are introduced into the material, which increase resistance to high temperatures, impart extreme pressure and water-repellent properties, and improve adhesion to the metal surface.

Characteristics

In terms of consistency, Castrol LMX lubricant, in accordance with the NLGI standard, has class 2. The droplet temperature is 250 ° C, and the permissible operating temperature range starts from -35 and ends at +170 ° C. The sulfate ash content is 3 g per 100 g. The lubricant has a characteristic green color. The country of origin of the product is Germany.

Application area

Due to its excellent properties, the lubricant can be used in vehicle components with the following operating conditions:

  • high rotation speeds;
  • high humidity;
  • high shock loads;
  • high pressure.

Moisture-repellent properties and high adhesion prevent this liquid from being washed out of friction units, thus extending the service life of bearings. Service life is determined by the release of oil and hardening of the substance under load.

For this type of lubricant, this indicator is high, thereby reducing the cost of operating and maintaining the vehicle and increasing the reliability of the lubricated components.

Conclusion

Castrol Lmx lubricants can be used in all domestic cars when replacing the widely used Litol-24 fluid, since they are similar in chemical composition, but have better qualities. The main technical properties are determined by the presence of organic lithium salts, so a liquid of this type can be used to replace most lithium oils (Litol, CIATIM-201, 202, 203), which today are already technically obsolete.

Longtime PD Series - High Performance Bearing Lubricant

Description

Castrol Longtime™ PD Series - lithium-based lubricants containing highly refined mineral oils and a complex of additives MFT (Microflux Trans). MFT additive technology provides optimal wear protection and an extremely low coefficient of friction even under maximum pressure, vibration, shock loads, high or low operating speeds or microscopic changes in the friction surfaces. At high loads, the components of MFT additives are activated and distributed over surfaces, helping to improve their frictional characteristics through plastic deformation. The products of the organic reaction become part of the tribopolymer system. Unlike components of traditional lubricants, tribopolymers formed by MFT additives are long-chain compounds with excellent adhesive and lubrication properties. Load-bearing capacity increases and the hydrodynamic oil film is better preserved. Thanks to this unique physicochemical reaction, friction surfaces are smoothed at the microscopic level.

Application area

Longtime PD series greases can be used for long-term or lifetime lubrication of rolling and sliding bearings operating under the most severe operating conditions, such as extremely high pressure, vibration, shock loads and a wide range of temperatures. They can also be used for bearings of spinning spindles and grinding spindles, gear motors subject to shock loads, sorting machines/cross planers and for printing plate work surfaces. In addition, the greases in this series are suitable for bearings with a rotating outer ring that are subject to high stress due to centrifugal load, such as impregnation roll bearings, rolling mill journals and bearings with variable direction of rotation or rotary movement. They can also be used for curved tooth couplings and central lubrication systems. Longtime PD 0 and PD 00 can be used as a semi-fluid lubricant in gearboxes (flange, drum and worm). In addition, this series of greases is suitable for use in gearboxes whose housing is not oil-tight, in gears and roller bearings with a lubricant reservoir.

Advantages

  •  High load-bearing capacity - extends equipment life under heavy-duty conditions and provides optimal wear protection.
  •  The excellent lubricity and surface smoothing properties of MFT additives reduce the number of breakdowns, which in turn reduces downtime and the frequency of repairs. MFT additives are capable of extending the life of damaged equipment parts/bearings.
  •  Formation of a protective layer using MFT additives - this complex of additives effectively increases the area of load absorption and therefore lowers the specific pressure, operating temperature and reduces wear, thereby increasing the service life of both parts and lubricant.
  •  Thanks to the “break-in” effect of MFT additives, the surface of bearings is improved and their service life is extended.
  •  Very low coefficient of friction - helps save energy and reduces noise levels.
  •  Multi-functional - Longtime PD 0 and PD 00 greases are especially recommended for anti-friction reservoir bearings and leaking gearboxes.
  •  Easily pumped in central lubrication systems, and when using PD 0 and PD 00 lubricants, it is evenly distributed throughout the entire volume of gearboxes operating at high speeds.
  •  Exceptional washout resistance - the coating film remains on the surface even in the presence of water, including when exposed to hot and chemically active process water.

Another product of lubricants from auto chemical manufacturers is Castrol LMX extreme pressure lubricant. Castrol LMX of green color and stable consistency is intended for lubricating friction units. Let's consider all the characteristics of this substance, the method of correct use, advantages and disadvantages, reviews and comments.

Castrol LMH lubricant

This lubricant is intended for lubrication of rubbing parts in a wide variety of mechanical components. It has a green color, a uniform consistency of plastic viscosity.

Manufacturers add an EP class additive (Extreme Pressure / Extreme Presha) to Castrol lubricant. Thanks to this additive, the lubricant reliably protects rubbing parts from overheating, the parts are resistant to high loads. The manufacturer states that green Castrol LMX reliably protects the surfaces of contacting parts. How things really are. Only application experience and truthful reviews allow you to objectively evaluate the pros and cons of a lubricant.

Lubricant characteristics

Lubricant (LH) Castrol brand LMH has the following technical characteristics:

  • Green colour;
  • consistency class: NLGI DIN 528182;

Against the backdrop of this trend, the petrochemical industry has been overwhelmed by a wave of ultra-modern high-tech lubricants that can create additional protection for car components from friction.

Description of Castrol LMX Li-Komplexfett 2 grease

Castrol LMX Li Komplexfett is a grease that can conditionally be called an analogue or modified version of Litol-24.

The imported product is characterized by high mechanical stability and excellent performance characteristics over a wide range of operating temperatures. The melting point of Castrol LMX is +250 0 C, and the crystallization temperature is 35 0 C.

The characteristic identification feature is green. The lubricant is characterized by extremely high levels of protective film resistance, which are maintained even under extreme loads. The high level of adhesion to metal does not allow it to slip and leave rubbing pairs without protection. The material is, as it were, embedded in the top layer of the part, enveloping it in a protective shell.

During tests on the bench and in the field, the lubricant showed the highest resistance to moisture, which allows you to fearlessly apply it to the wheel hub. Even after driving through deep puddles, the lubricant will remain in place. The product is also resistant to car wash chemicals and high pressure water supply. You don’t have to worry about constantly needing to lubricate the product. The peculiarity of Castrol LMX is that once you apply it, you can forget about the next maintenance for a long time.

The use of lubricant provides 100% protection of vehicle parts from corrosion, scuffing and oxide formation. The appearance of the parts remains the same as it was after the car left the assembly line.

The lubricant has received approvals from MAN and Mercedes, which indicates that these automakers have authorized the use of this product in components and assemblies of their vehicles.
