Grundfos SB is a submersible well pump for water supply systems. It is used for efficient pumping of clean water from wells and rain storage tanks. The well pump is available in two basic designs:
In both versions, the SB pump can be supplied with or without a float switch. The float switch can be used for automatic operation or for dry-running protection.
When submerged, the SB pump runs silently and is therefore a cost-effective alternative to non-submersible pumps.
The SB well pump is made of composite materials and of stainless steel corrosion resistant. In addition, the pump is equipped with a stainless steel filter that prevents large particles from getting inside.
The pump is equipped with thermal overload protection.
The float strainer model sucks water just below the surface, where the water is clean and free of solids.
The SB series pump is a submersible auxiliary pump for pumping clean water, particularly suitable for pumping rain water. The pump is supplied in two basic versions:
If the distance from the wall of the tank (well) to the pump is more than 1.5 meters, it is recommended to use a model with a side entrance.
If the distance from the wall of the tank (well) to the pump is less than 1.5 meters, a model with a strainer is recommended.

Features and Benefits
Silent operation
The Grundfos SBA pumping unit is silent when submerged and therefore a cost-effective alternative to conventional pumps.
High reliability
The Grundfos SBA pumping unit is made of corrosion-resistant composite materials and stainless steel. In addition, the unit is equipped with a stainless steel filter that prevents large particles from getting inside.
Built-in protection
Grundfos SBA has built-in dry running protection. All models pumping units available with float switch.
Float strainer
The float strainer model sucks water just below the surface, where the water is clean and free of solids.
Automatic restart
The Grundfos SBA pumping unit with float switch automatically restarts in the event of a re-ingress of water. SBA without float switch attempts to restart every 24 hours.
Thermal protection
Thanks to the built-in thermal protection, when overheating occurs, the pump switches off immediately. After cooling down, the pump automatically restarts when it reaches normal temperature.
Long term use
The Grundfos float switch prevents air from entering the system due to dry running.

Quick Selection Guide
If the distance from the wall of the tank (well) to the pump is more than 1.5 meters, it is recommended to use a model with a side entrance. If the distance from the wall of the tank (well) to the pump is less than 1.5 meters, a model with a strainer is recommended.

Permits and markings
The Grundfos SBA pump has the following marking: EAC (Customs Union).
In March 2014, Grundfos upgraded its range of well pumps. The outdated SPO pumps have been replaced by new Grundfos SBA and SB well pumps. In pumps new series much more used polymer materials, which allowed to significantly reduce the price of the pump for the consumer. In addition, there are a number of other innovations.
First of all, a model has appeared in the new well pumps that allows water to be drawn close to the surface. Suction is carried out through a hose, to the end of which a float is attached. This innovation makes it possible to fence almost from the very surface, avoiding sand and silt being drawn in. Meanwhile, the manufacturer recommends using these pumps when the distance from the pump to the tank/well wall is 1.5 meters or more, which is usually not feasible in conventional wells. Otherwise, the hose may rest against the walls (or it will have to be shortened). Pumps of this series have the designation AW in the name.
So, how do Grundfos SBA pumps differ from Grundfos SB and Grundfos SPO pumps?
Grundfos SB well pumps are essentially a continuation of the SPO series. They are represented by 6 models:
Grundfos SBA well pumps, unlike the SB series, have built-in automation: a pressure switch and a flow sensor and are ready for use immediately after connection.
Grundfos pumps SBAs are represented by the following models:
New pumps now for the most part consist of a polymer, including impellers, stainless steel suction grate and motor shaft. It is worth noting that the perforation of the grating has noticeably decreased and is now 1 mm, which will allow even small grains of sand to be retained. In addition, all models are equipped with a removable check valve and a universal herringbone adapter for hose connection.

The SB HF is supplied with a built-in strainer located at the very base of the pump and a float switch (option A).
Discharge connection for SB HF pumps - 1 1/4". check valve sold separately for this model.
The pump is suitable for both vertical and horizontal installation.
Features and Benefits
When submerged, the SB HF pump runs silently and is therefore a cost-effective alternative to self-priming, non-submersible pumps.
The SB HF well pump is made of stainless steel (including housing and impellers), which guarantees a long service life of the pump. In addition, it is equipped with a stainless steel filter that prevents large particles from getting inside. The filter perforation size is 1 mm.
Thanks to the built-in thermal protection, when overheating occurs, the pump switches off immediately. After cooling down, the pump automatically restarts when it reaches normal temperature.
All SB HF pumps are equipped with a float switch for low water level shutdown.
