    The principle of the soldering is to heat the ends of the connected pipes to the desired temperature and the subsequent fixation. To do this, you will need a special device - a welding machine.

    Heating nozzles must correspond to the cross section of the connected pipes. To do this, pay attention to certain parameters:

    • strength;
    • preservation of shape at temperature differences;
    • thermal conductivity.

    Most welding machines are compatible immediately with several different nozzles, which is extremely convenient when equipping complex highways.

    In each nozzle, there are two ends at once - one is intended for heating the outer surface of the products, the other for the inner. All nozzles are covered with teflon spraying, which prevents the molten spraying. The sizes of nozzle fluctuate between 2 cm and 6 cm, which completely coincides with the common and cross-sections of the pipes.

    When the plan is drawn up, and all components are purchased, it remains only to carefully remove the room. Particular attention should be paid to dust, because even the smallest particles, settled on the seams, can easily disrupt hermeticity.

    Initially, the nozzle is inserted into the socket, after which the device is turned on. Further actions depend on the chosen method of soldering, so consider them (techniques) in more detail.

    Method number 1. Diffusion solder

    When using this welding techno, the material of the parts connected mutually penetrates each other, and after cooling it forms a monolithic element. One of the most common processing methods, which is nevertheless acceptable only for homogeneous materials.

    Method number 2. Popper

    When welding, welding machines with different cross sections of nozzles are used. The procedure itself looks quite simple.

    Step 1. Initially, cuts of pipes of the required length are cut. It is important that the pruning takes place exclusively at right angles.

    Step 2. Product ends are cleaned with shader (if reinforced pipes are used).

    Step 3. The ends are inserted into the nozzle of the appropriate section, warm up to the melting point and are connected.

    Method number 3. Shock soldering

    This method is advisable when connecting pipes of large diameter. As in the previous versions, the pipes are cut into the sections of the required length, and the ends are carefully cleaned.

    Method number 3. Coupling

    With a coupling method of welding between the connected elements, an additional part is introduced - the coupling. Heating occurs the same manner, that's just not the parts of the highway, but only the elements of the connection.

    Method number 4. Polyfusion soldering

    A variety of diffuse technology, characterized in that only one of the two elements connected is melted.

    This welding method provides for applying a special adhesive composition on the connected pipes. It is characteristic that the use of "cold" welding is permissible only in those highways in which the pressure of the working fluid is slightly.

    When overheating or connecting pipes of a small diameter, the risk of influxing on the inner surface occurs. These influx will prevent the free movement of the working fluid during operation.

    To avoid this, it is necessary to check the connection for such defective sites. The connection site must be thought out, and if the air is free to pass, then the welding unequivocally came out very high quality.

    Note! After that, it is necessary to check the tightness of the connection - for this, a small amount of water is passed through the paved elements.

    Important: Before making a decision on the installation of water pipes from polypropylene pipes, it is worth find out that this material under the influence of high temperatures is inclined to stretching. That is, if using polypropylene pipes for a highway of the DHW, then such communication can simply be supplied over time. Therefore, for hot water, it is necessary to use only aluminum polypropylene tubes.

    In order to follow the instructions, to solder the entire system of the water supply system with long-term operation, it is advisable to understand what kind of pipes the master works. After all, polypropylene is divided into four categories, each of which is intended for use under certain conditions. Failure to comply with the instructions on the operation, there is no effort of the master, and the plumbing will eventually fail.

    So, polypropylene pipes are four types:

    • Tubes with marking PN 10 . The thin-walled small diameter material designed for use at temperatures up to 45 degrees. Can be used in a hard floor system or warm floor.
    • Tubes with marking PN 16 . It is worth being extremely attentive. Polypropylene such a category can be used either under conditions of high pressure in communication, but for cold water, or at low pressure in the network with hot water.
    • Marking PN 20 allows you to use plastic pipes for a device of any highway operating at a temperature not higher than +80 degrees.
    • PN 25 Tubes are the most reinforced aluminum or fiberglass tubes suitable for mounting hot water system. Here, the material can be operated under the temperature of the temperature regime to 95 degrees Celsius.

    In addition, it is worth understanding that all polypropylene pipes of any category may have a different color. The kel does not play any difference except black. This color of pipes indicates that PP tuba is strongly protected from UV radiation.

    Important: All polypropylene pipes will be generally used only if the ranges in the operating pressure and temperature in the network are observed. The higher the water temperature in the water supply system, the lower the pressure should be, and vice versa.

    Plastic pipes can be soldered only with the help of a special tool - soldering iron. The household unit in shape resembles a kind of iron on the stand. Its heating sole (mirror) is able to warm up to temperatures above 260 degrees, which allows to melting (soldering) the polymer for its qualitative connection.

    On the heating sole, there are places for attaching nozzles. As a rule, in the household apparatus, 2-3 nozzles can be attached to the sole. Their diameter depends on the configuration, which was originally acquired tool. But most often it is nozzles with a diameter of 16-32 mm.

    IMPORTANT: Only pipes, the diameter of which does not exceed 63 mm can be soldered at home. At the same time, they are connected exclusively using couplings and fittings. Larger diameter pipes soldered on professional equipment and most often online.

    You can solder plastic pipes with your own hands both with the help of a sword-shaped apparatus and with cylindrical. The quality of the soldering will be unchanged and equally good if you follow the instructions.

    Important: work soldering iron with your own hands should be carried out only in heated to the positive room temperatures. At the same time, it is important to know what the cooler will be in the room, the greater the time of heating plastic and metalplastic (in the case of a reinforced pipe).

    Preparatory stage


    • First of all, it is necessary to prepare the pipeline, marker and roulette. With such tools such tools will be marked with tube and its cuts on individual elements.
    • After all the metal-plastic and PVC parts of the future system are cut, it is necessary to thoroughly clean all the places of alleged compounds, including couplings and fittings.

    Important: Aluminum reinforced pipe cuts using Shawra. At the same time, before soldering, first it is worth removing the top layer of polypropylene and aluminum. This will improve the quality of the connection. Fiberglass reinforced tubes are soldered as well as standard polypropylene.


    For those who do not know how to solder plastic pipes (metal-plastic / PVC) at home with their own hands, it is necessary to adhere to the following recommendations when performing work:

    • The process of soldering starts no earlier than 5-10 minutes after turning on the soldering iron. It should warm up to a given temperature.
    • Polypropylene tubes with a diameter of up to 40 mm can be successfully soldered on a sword-shaped apparatus. For a larger diameter tube, it is better to use a more professional centering unit.
    • After heating the polymer (PVC or metal) on the teflon coating of the nozzles will remain pieces of soft plastic. They are desirable to immediately clean the wooden spatula. It is impossible to read the residues of the polymer on the cooled nozzle or using metal devices. There is a risk of damaging Teflon coating and as a result, spoil the item.

    Important: Timely stripping of the nozzle from the residues of the polymer allows you to get a guaranteed even and smooth connection.

    Process soldering


    So, polypropylene (PVC) elements of the water supply system do it yourself in several stages:

    • A soldering iron is installed on the platform and secure it reliably. The device set the desired temperature. For polypropylene it is equal to 260 degrees, for polyethylene - 220.
    • On the platform before turning on the soldering iron, the nozzles of the desired diameter are put on.
    • As soon as the device warms up, you can take a cut tube and fitting under it and put on the nozzle. Withstand parts in accordance with the diameter of the elements (see Recommendations below).
    • As soon as all parts of the pipeline are carefully proper, it is worth firmly and slowly docile items to a dense fit. We leave the intercom from complete cooling. All parts of communication should be cleaned.

    Important: After the pipe is inserted into the fitting, it is forbidden to move it and in any way to turn. The polymer (PVC) in the lumen of the pipe can be shrivened and the connection will occur.

    After the pipes are fed and cold, you can skip the water or air through them to check the tightness of the connection.

    • For a tub, with a cross section of 16 mm - withstand 5 s;
    • For a tube with a diameter of 20 mm - heating is 6 seconds;
    • Pipes 25 mm - Gray 7 seconds;
    • Elements 32 mm - soldering 8 seconds;
    • Pipes with a diameter of 40 mm - heating for 12 seconds;
    • Tube diameter 50 mm - 24 seconds;
    • Pipe 63 mm - 40 sec.

    Important Tip: If the wizard for the first time will open pipes from polypropylene (PVC) with their own hands, then it is possible to pre-stretch on unnecessary segments of polypropylene elements. In addition, if in the process of the soldering, flaws were made in the connection, you can simply cut this section of the pipeline and solder a new one.

    Tip: Buying a soldering iron for one-time execution of work with your own hands is inexpedient from the point of view of finance. In this case, it is better to take the apparatus for PVC pipes for rent in a specialized construction store.
