Landscaping and planning

A toilet is something without which it is impossible to imagine a full-fledged summer cottage. The simplest option for a country toilet is a cesspool-based system. If desired, such a toilet can be made with your own hands. You just need to familiarize yourself with the proposed step-by-step guide and do everything in accordance with the instructions.

Before proceeding with any operations, you should collect the materials and tools necessary for arranging an individual toilet.

Kit for building a country toilet

  1. Bar 100 mm wide and 50 mm thick. In the absence of this material, you can use an edged board.
  2. Moisture-proof material. Roofing material is traditionally used.
  3. A beam 300 cm long, with a section of 50x50 mm.
  4. Floor board 3000x100x25 mm.
  5. Sheets of coniferous lining.
  6. Nails and screws.
  7. Door with related elements and fittings.
  8. Electric drill.
  9. A hammer.
  10. Jigsaw or hacksaw.
  11. Shovel.
  12. Roofing material. Usually used ordinary slate. If desired, you can make a roof at your discretion.

The amount of materials is selected individually in accordance with the dimensions of the future design. After everything you need is bought and collected in one place, you can start choosing a suitable place to place the toilet.

When choosing a location for such a delicate building, a number of important factors must be taken into account. First of all, decide whether you will make a latrine with a cesspool or another design is more suitable for you. At this stage, be guided by the level of passage of groundwater. If they pass at a depth below 250 cm, you can safely make a latrine with a cesspool. In the case of the passage of groundwater above the mark of 250 cm, it is better to abandon the design with a cesspool.

It is important to find a middle ground here - the toilet, after all, is an intimate place, but it is also not recommended to build it in some hard-to-reach area, which, if something happens, you can not reach.

If you are not going to turn an ordinary toilet into a work of landscape art, it is best to do it in some secluded corner, at a relatively small distance from the house.

When choosing a suitable place, you need to focus on the current sanitary standards.. They are especially important in the case of the construction of a toilet with a cesspool. If the pit you created is not airtight, waste will simply seep into the groundwater, which can ruin the plantings on the site. Yes, and it will be very dangerous to use such water in the future.

A toilet with a cesspool should be located at a distance of at least 12-14 m from the residential building. A "dry" outhouse should be built at a distance of 4-5 m or more.

Don't forget about your neighbors too. The minimum allowable distance between the toilet and the border of the neighboring plot is 1.5-2 m. The owners of the neighboring cottage are unlikely to like a closer location.

It is important that the toilet is located at the maximum possible distance from wells and wells. The optimal distance is 20-30 m.

A country toilet can easily become a source of characteristic unpleasant odors, therefore, when choosing a place for its installation, it is necessary to pay attention to such a parameter as the wind rose, which is specific to your area. Of course, the toilet needs to be cleaned regularly.

Usually a square pit is made with sides of 100 cm and a depth of about 2 m. Before you start digging a cesspool, clearly mark its limits.

The walls and bottom of the structure are to be reinforced. To solve this problem, you can use concrete rings or bricks, rubble stone, boards, etc. are also used. Crushed stone is poured into the bottom of the cesspool and carefully compacted. Brickwork is laid on gravel or a concrete screed is made.

The second stage is the arrangement of the cesspool. The internal walls of the cesspool are subject to mandatory moisture insulation. Such treatment will prevent the penetration of waste from the pit into groundwater. To waterproof the walls, it is enough to plaster or caulk.

The third stage is the preparation of the foundation for the toilet house. Traditionally, such houses are installed on columnar bases. The corners of the building should rest on brick pillars covered with roofing material as a waterproofing material.

The base of the house is assembled from wooden beams. They must first be primed and painted. Such treatment will prevent premature decay of the wood. Assemble the frame and place it on the brick base. Put 4 racks on the frame. Be sure to make sure they are placed vertically. Use bolts for a secure fit. Additionally strengthen the structure with metal plates. Install roof beams, as well as racks for mounting doors.

The roof should have a slight slope. To ensure it, make the front pillars slightly longer than the rear ones. Above the cesspool, arrange a frame of wooden bars for the future seat. The roof must be covered with roofing material and the selected finishing material. The most commonly used slate.

Nail vertical bars or boards to the frame for lining, siding or other material of your choice. Boards are fixed at a distance of 150 mm from each other. The base for sitting and the inner surface of the walls must also be sheathed with clapboard or other desired material.

Knock down the door, fasten the hinges in the appropriate places and hang the canvas. If desired, install fittings and additional elements in the form of a nut, trim, etc.

To make the restroom convenient to use at any time of the day, it needs to be supplied with electricity. Choose a lamp of your choice.

Also above the door you need to cut a window of the desired shape. Through it, the room will be illuminated in the daytime.

So that the country toilet does not become a source of unpleasant odors that poison life, pay due attention to the arrangement of the ventilation system.

Buy a plastic pipe with a diameter of 100 mm and fix it to the back wall of the house with clamps. One end of such a pipe must be deepened into the cesspool by about 100 mm, and the other must be brought out. To do this, you must first prepare suitable holes in the podium seat and roof. Choose the length of the pipe so that it rises above the roof by about 20 cm. Putty the places where the pipe passes through the floors. A special nozzle-deflector is installed on the ventilation head.

This is a traditional version of a country toilet with a cesspool. If you wish, you can opt for a different design, for example, a play closet or a powder closet.

Such a system is a kind of transitional link between the design with a pit and a full-fledged hygienic septic tank. The design is based on a sealed pit. In the future, only special sewage equipment will be able to clean such a cesspool. Consider if there are companies in your area that specialize in providing these services.

If there are problems with cleaning, it is better to immediately abandon the device of such a toilet.

The design works on an extremely simple principle. The toilet is located directly next to the house. The toilet is placed inside the room, and the cesspool is outside.

Dig a hole at least 100 cm deep. Fill the walls and bottom of the pit with concrete mortar. After the mortar on the walls has set, they will additionally need to be treated with a special waterproofing mastic. Also, waterproofing must be installed around the perimeter of the pit. It is best to make it from clay. A layer of clay with a thickness of about 50 cm will be enough. Place a hatch on top of the cesspool. It will be closed with lids made of cast iron and wood. Place insulation between the covers, mineral wool will do.

A sewer pipe is laid through the wall of the house, through which waste will go from the toilet bowl to the septic tank. The toilet requires the organization of high-quality forced ventilation. You can buy a special fan or create natural ventilation, the action of which is based on the temperature difference.

At the end, it remains to install the toilet, connect it to the cesspool, and the toilet will be ready for use. Such a system differs from an ordinary city toilet only in that the effluents are not discharged into the sewer, but into an equipped cesspool.

Such a toilet does not require the arrangement of a cesspool. Instead, a special container is used, installed under the toilet seat. When filled to a certain level, the container is simply taken out and cleaned.

In the toilet room, a container with sawdust, hay or peat should be installed. These materials will need to be poured into the toilet after each trip to the toilet to reduce the intensity of unpleasant odors.

Powder closets are extremely simple and easy to use. For the full use of the restroom, high-quality ventilation must be organized in it.

If desired, after 2-3 years it will be possible to “move” by equipping a clean container in a new place and filling the old cesspool with earth. The fourth time you can “move” to the very first place. Over the years, the waste will completely rot.

Wood is an excellent material with many advantages, but it has one serious drawback - the material deforms and changes in size somewhat during its service life. After some time, gaps will appear between the boards used to sheath the walls of the country toilet. To mask them, you can use a narrow rail. It is enough just to fill such rails over the cracks and the problem will be solved.

Thus, there is nothing complicated in the independent arrangement of a country toilet. You can make both an elementary design based on a cesspool, as well as a more modern and perfect toilet in terms of its characteristics. The choice is yours!

Not a single place of residence of people can do without a toilet, and the dacha is no exception. Building a country toilet with your own hands will not be difficult. The toilet for a summer residence can be organized in various ways, from the traditional rustic to the modern septic tank. This article will look at how to organize a place for the collection and disposal of waste and make a comfortable and beautiful toilet.

Types of toilets for summer cottages

Country toilet according to the method of device can be divided into three types: street, peat, septic tank or cesspool.

Outdoor or summer toilet for giving is a separate building with a pit under it for collecting waste - this is the simplest type, it will perfectly satisfy all the needs of the owners.

Fig.2.

Fig.3.

Its main advantage is that cleaning may not be performed for more than 10 years, due to the slow accumulation of waste. This is facilitated by its device, the pit is leaky and has ventilation. Part of the liquid fraction evaporates, and part is absorbed into the soil. Thus, the accumulation of sewage is very slow.

Fig.4.

Fig.5.

With all the advantages of an outdoor toilet, it cannot be built at a high groundwater level, more than 2.5 m. Otherwise, the water in the pit will be constant, and not only in the spring, and sewage can get into the groundwater. This is especially dangerous if the water supply of the cottage is carried out using a well. Also, certain norms are imposed on the installation of a country toilet according to the location on the site.

Peat or Finnish toilet for a summer residence- this is a structure without a pit, all sewage is accumulated in a special tank. The country toilet of the Finnish design is arranged as a separate building. It has a simple operating principle. After each use, waste products are sprinkled with peat, or a mixture of peat with ash, sawdust, and crushed bark. The mixture promotes the decomposition of sewage. As soon as the container is full, it must be emptied into a compost heap for further processing. Recycled waste is an organic fertilizer that can be used to feed plants.

Fig.6.

Fig.7.

This species has no location restrictions. A dry composting toilet has the disadvantage of having to empty the contents regularly. Therefore, it is advisable to arrange it if the cottage is used seasonally and no more than 1 - 2 people use it constantly.

Fig.8.

Fig.9.

Fig.10.

septic tank allows you to organize a bathroom in a country house. This becomes possible thanks to a sealed cesspool, which can be installed anywhere on the site and at any level of groundwater. A septic tank makes it possible to make a toilet in the country with a toilet like in a city apartment. Unlike a country toilet, a septic tank can be used year-round. Therefore, it is usually arranged in places of permanent residence.

Fig.11.

Fig.12.

The disadvantage of a septic tank is its high cost and complexity of installation. The septic tank does not just accumulate waste, it recycles it. A septic tank can be of various designs. Depending on the type of septic tank, the percentage of processing is different, but does not reach 100%, so it is necessary to periodically pump out deposits, while doing it yourself is quite difficult. In this connection, there must be access to the septic tank for the entrance of a sewage truck.

Building an outdoor toilet with your own hands

Most dachas are used only in summer. Therefore, the outdoor toilet is the most popular. The construction of a country toilet with a cesspool under it will not require much effort, it is quite easy to do it yourself, and you can use improvised materials during construction.

Norms for the location of the toilet for a summer residence

The first stage of construction is the choice of a place for its installation. When choosing a place, it is necessary to take into account sanitary standards.

Fig.15.

The country toilet should be located at a distance of at least 8 m from residential buildings, at least 12 m from the cellar and at least 25 m from a clean water source (well or well). Therefore, it is usually placed in the far corner of the garden.

Fig.16.

Fig.17.

Sooner or later, the cesspool will fill up and the toilet will be unusable. The pit can be cleaned or the toilet moved to another location. As a rule, they choose the second option, make a new hole next to the old one and transfer the booth. Compositions with bacteria are added to the old cesspool, which in a couple of years will turn sewage into compost. The compost can be removed for fertilization and the pit can be reused.

How to make a hole for a toilet

A toilet for a summer residence begins to be erected from a cesspool device. A standard pit has a depth of 1 - 1.5 m and a width of 1 m. If the groundwater is far enough away, then the depth of the toilet pit can be greater.

Fig.18.

In order for the pit not to crumble, it is necessary to strengthen the walls. You can strengthen them with bricks, rubble, old car tires, concrete rings, or install a tank. A more durable option is concrete rings. However, the simplest, fastest and most popular is the barrel. In this design, a metal or plastic container with a volume of 200 liters is used.

Fig.19.

Crushed stone is poured at the bottom of the cesspool with a layer of 10 - 15 cm. Holes are made in the barrel through which the liquid fraction of sewage will go into the soil. A barrel is installed in a pit and covered with rubble around the perimeter. Crushed stone will act as drainage and prevent siltation of the pit. Instead of crushed stone, you can use broken brick, stone, etc. Thus, the service life of a country toilet can be significantly increased.

How to make a foundation for a toilet cubicle

The second stage in the construction of a toilet for a summer residence is the construction of a cabin. Traditionally, the cabin is made using frame technology. First, the frame is assembled, then sheathed with clapboard, profiled sheet or siding. The frame toilet can be assembled from a wooden beam or welded from a metal profile.

Fig.23.

Fig.24.

Fig.25.

The cabin is quite light in construction, so a special foundation is not required. So that the toilet cubicle does not stand directly on the ground, it is placed on concrete blocks. In turn, concrete blocks are placed on a sand cushion 10–20 cm thick. This approach provides a reliable foundation and natural ventilation, which contributes to the absence of smell.

Fig.26.

Fig.27.

Fig.28.

The easiest way is to make a booth out of wood, because. when working with wood, no special tools, such as welding, are required. A wooden cabin will not heat up in the sun, unlike a profiled sheet toilet, and it will be comfortable to use.

Fig.29.

A wooden booth with your own hands can be made from a bar with a section from 50x50 mm to 100x100 mm. First, the base of the frame is assembled, then vertical racks are installed, after which the rafters are attached and the crate is made.

Fig.30.

Fig.31.

Fig.32.

All elements of the cabin frame are connected with self-tapping screws and construction metal corners. Outside, it is sewn up with a board, rail or block house, which makes the cabin look like a log toilet. Any roofing material can be used for roofing. The door for the toilet house can be made from boards or used ready-made.

Fig.33.

Fig.34.

toilet seat

The toilet seat can be made in various ways. Two options are most popular: a platform and a special plastic bucket. When making a platform, it is important to consider that its height should be 45 cm and a width of 60 cm. Such dimensions guarantee the convenience of using the country toilet.

Fig.35.

Fig.36.

Fig.37.

An important point to consider when building a booth is the presence of a window. The window performs two functions of lighting and ventilation. The window should not be glazed, so the house will not be hot and there will be no smell.

The toilet cubicle may have a different design, but the principle of construction is identical for everyone. Here are some examples.

Cesspool toilet in the country

A septic tank, for seasonal use, is rarely done due to the high labor intensity of its device. Of course, you can buy a ready-made septic tank, but then you will have to pay a considerable amount of money for it. If the cottage is visited all year round, then the installation of a septic tank fully justifies the effort and money spent on it.

Fig.53.

A septic tank is a sealed chamber or several chambers into which waste products enter, where they accumulate and are partially processed. The main criterion for the construction of a septic tank is its volume. For a family of three, the minimum volume of a septic tank should be 1.5 cubic meters.

The simplest septic tank consists of one chamber and it is quite easy to do it yourself, because. in fact, it is a sealed cesspool, which eliminates the leakage of sewage and flooding with groundwater.

Fig.54.

Fig.55.

The procedure for constructing a cesspool for a country toilet is as follows. They dig a pit 1.5 - 2 m deep. A sand cushion 20 cm thick is poured at the bottom of the pit. Next, a concrete slab 10 cm thick is poured, this will be the bottom of the cesspool. After that, the walls of the cesspool are erected from brick, stone or concrete. Outside, the buildings are waterproofed to protect against groundwater. A sewer pipe from the toilet is brought to the cesspool. The sewer pipe is laid with a slope of 2-3 cm per 1 m of length. On top of the pits arrange a roof. The roof can be made of wood or concrete. For year-round use, the roof of the cesspool must be insulated. When creating a roof, a hatch for pumping sewage must be provided.

Fig.56.

A simpler and faster option for creating a cesspool is to use precast concrete structures, such as rings. In this case, it is necessary to dig a pit, mount rings in it and bring a sewer pipe from the country toilet.

Fig.57.

Fig.58.

Additionally, the septic tank must be insulated and equipped with ventilation. The simplest ventilation option is to install a fan riser in the house and bring the pipe to the roof level.

A septic tank of this type is operated quite simply. Gradually, it is filled with sewage, and when 2/3 of the volume of the septic tank is filled, it is emptied by a sewage machine. This will have to be done regularly, so the septic tank must be located in a place accessible to the entrance of the sewer.

Autonomous sewerage system

An alternative to a homemade septic tank is the Tank septic tank. It is a plastic barrel divided into sections. First, the first section is filled, while solid waste descends to the bottom, and only the liquid fraction remains on the surface. As it fills, the liquid fraction overflows into the adjacent section, where similar processes take place. A composition containing anaerobic bacteria that decompose sewage is added to the septic tank. The water purified in this way is drained into the drain, and the sediment is pumped out by a sewer.

Fig.63.

Another option for a septic tank with a high percentage of waste recycling is the Autonomous Sewerage septic tank. The principle of its operation is similar to a traditional septic tank, with the only exception that the autonomous sewage system is equipped with an air compressor, which enriches the sewage with oxygen, and the decomposition process is under the influence of aerobic bacteria. Autonomous sewage is dependent on electricity, but allows you to achieve a high degree of recycling of waste.

Fig.64.

Fig.65.

Fig.66.

The installation of the last two types of septic tank consists in preparing a pit, installing a septic tank in it and connecting it to the sewerage system of the house.

We have considered all the ways of arranging and building a toilet for a summer residence. If you plan to live or visit the cottage all year round and want to have the comfort of a city apartment, then you should immediately install a septic tank. If you visit the cottage only in the summer, then it is easier and faster to build a summer toilet with a cesspool under it. If you do not often visit the country house, then the simplest version of the toilet device is the Finnish peat toilet. Whatever version of the toilet you choose, any of them will perfectly meet your needs, and the cottage will not be left without a toilet.

We all love comfort in everyday life, but we rarely get it just like that, without any effort. Someone pays “specialists” for repairs in their home, often getting a carelessly done job, while someone prefers to do everything with their own hands, which, without a proper approach, can also lead to problems.

At the same time, any path involves significant financial costs, and therefore the initially correctly chosen approach not only saves your nerves in the future, but also saves the family budget.

And if at the moment, most apartments are already equipped with all the necessary amenities, then things are often somewhat worse at summer cottages, often people who come from the city to their dacha experience a number of inconveniences, and one of the most noticeable is the lack of a toilet.

In this article, I would like to tell you how, using relatively cheap materials, you can make a toilet in the country with your own hands. He will delve into the intricacies of this process, explain all the nuances and difficulties, because a do-it-yourself toilet in the country, the photo of which you will see in the article, is not at all a luxury, but a necessity.

So, how to build a toilet in the country with your own hands?

First of all, you need to know about this process that the construction of such a structure in our time is more expensive than before, unfortunately, it is not even associated with a fashion trend, but with new sanitary requirements, which strongly indicate the need to preserve an environmentally friendly environment.

At the same time, the issue of disposal of accumulated waste products is acute, because the need to regularly clean them from a simple toilet in the country can turn the life of any person into a nightmare. This problem will be solved by modern technologies, which have now become much cheaper and more accessible, which allows most people to use them on their plots.

Finally, here again the desire to create the most comfortable conditions for existence intervenes, few people are now satisfied with a small rickety booth with a hole in the floor, which is quite understandable, because such structures do not improve summer vacation at all, and besides, they spoil the view of the site as a whole.

In this regard, it becomes clear that the ideal toilet for a summer residence should be environmentally friendly, convenient in terms of waste disposal, comfortable to use and fit beautifully in a summer cottage.

After defining the main task, it is necessary to solve a number of other important issues:

1. Based on local conditions, determine how wastewater will be discharged, where it will be discharged, how it will be disposed of.

2. Find a suitable place in your summer cottage to install a toilet.

3. Make a choice of the preferred design solution - it can be a booth or a cabin.

4. Find a decorative design that would optimally match the complexity of construction and appearance.

5. Determine the necessary for all expenses.

All these issues are largely interconnected, so they need to be addressed in a comprehensive manner, thinking about how to make a toilet in the country with your own hands. At the same time, during the construction of the booth, you can afford more freedom, since only the appearance and convenience depend on it, and the base is the most complex and expensive element here.

What to build a toilet in the country?

In most cases, it is best to build a wooden toilet for a summer residence, this is due to the cheapness of this material, in addition, wood is very easy to process, it has good heat-resistant characteristics and, with a competent approach, does not cause any harm to a person. With proper processing, it can be weather-resistant and unsuitable for any bacteria or insects to grow on it.

In addition, a lightweight wooden structure allows you to save on the foundation, which in some cases may not be useful at all, because the dimensions of the toilet in the country with your own hands can be small, in which case its cabin can simply be placed on reinforced concrete monoliths or bricks.

To build a simple toilet in the country with your own hands, you need to decide on the types of materials.

For the construction of the frame, an ordinary beam is often used, it is convenient to cover the floor and the toilet seat with a tongue-and-groove board, trimmed or tongue-and-groove boards are suitable for external cladding, and cut and uncut boards are well suited for roof lathing.

In the construction of sheathing, boards made of waterproof plywood or OSB can be effective, which can also be used in creating laths for purlins. A good material can be a grooved board, which, at a slightly higher price, surpasses most other materials in its properties.

For curved sections, it is optimal to use a marine boat board, which, in addition to everything else, will last much longer in an area where precipitation is frequent, however, compared to a sheet pile board, it holds back gusts of wind worse.

Without exception, all wooden elements must be treated first against rot, then from dampness. It is this sequence that is the most correct, in which the boards will serve the longest time.

Those parts of the toilet that will be turned inward (toward the cesspool and the ground) must also be treated with bituminous mastic or hot bitumen.

What kind of toilet to build in the country?

Even if you decide to build a simple toilet in the country with your own hands, you should not forget about the importance of its appearance. There are a number of types of cabins, in the form of a house, a hut, a hut, a birdhouse. Ultimately, you can always experiment with shapes, do something completely unusual, however, in my article I will focus on the basic options without going into the area of complex design.

So, what is the difference between the listed types of cabins:

1. During the construction of a hut, one must understand that it is strong, constructive, has good resistance to precipitation and wind, does not require large expenditures of materials, however, it requires a lot of space and suffers from a number of inconveniences, primarily from crowding. If you try to make it larger, then the benefit of saving materials disappears. The design itself is primitive, and may not be suitable for some summer cottages.

2. In terms of the complexity of construction, a birdhouse is even simpler than a hut, it does not require large expenditures of materials and takes up minimal space. However, it has a weak design, does not hold temperatures well, and is prone to drafts. Despite the shortcomings, such a design may be optimal if an outdoor toilet is intended for summer cottages.

3. In the construction of a house, you can achieve greater heat resistance and strength than a birdhouse. It also requires a little land and materials, but it is more difficult to install a water tank to it. This design allows you to use a variety of finishes and design elements.

4. The complexity of the construction of the hut is superior to other types of cabins, in addition, it requires more material consumption. At the same time, its faceted shape allows you to create very durable structures that are well protected from adverse climatic conditions. In terms of functionality and ergonomics, this is one of the best options. And the design possibilities are almost endless.

When the view is finally chosen, it is necessary to determine the size of the toilet in the country.

For a birdhouse with a house, the ideal dimensions of the floor and toilet seat are at least 1.2 meters in width and 1.5 meters in depth. In the case of a hut and a hut, the depth can be left at the level of 1.5 meters, and the width can be taken in the region of 0.9 meters.

It is important that there is at least 40 centimeters of distance from the head of the person who entered to the walls. At the same time, several meters can be called the optimal ceiling height. In general, when the question arises of how to build a toilet in the country, it is important to remember that many of its parameters will depend on your preferences. In this regard, the size of the toilet can be adjusted depending on your own height, etc.

Almost all of the types of cabins listed above suffer from a common disadvantage, namely, exposure to gusts of wind if the toilet door is not closed. To combat this, you just need to install the door on the barn hinges. For more durable structures such as a hut, you can use hidden loops.

Where to put the toilet in the country?

You can’t think about how to make a simple toilet in the country without taking into account such important aspects as its location, especially if it involves the presence of a cesspool, the construction of which is prohibited if the groundwater is located above 2.5 meters.

The choice of a construction site should be based on a number of factors, such as the type of soil, the proposed foundation, the distance from the house, etc. All these elements are closely interconnected and require a serious approach, because not only convenience, but also safety for you and the environment depends on this.

There are strict sanitary standards that prohibit the location of structures of this kind at a distance closer than 12 meters from the nearest housing, and the distance from a water source must be at least 20 meters. In addition, it is important to remember about the neighbors, who are unlikely to approve the construction of a toilet right under their fence.

In order to build a toilet for the dacha yourself, you must first decide how far you are willing to walk, in some cases, the distance of the toilet from the house only has a positive effect on the atmosphere of the summer cottage, and the proximity of the house to the cesspool can be quite unpleasant, for example, due to possible odours. At the same time, the location of the toilet should be accessible to the entrance of the sewage truck, because the maximum length of its hose is about 7 meters.

It is good if it is possible to install a toilet in an inconspicuous and secluded place, for example, in a garden, where trees cover it from the general view. It is also important to remember that locating the toilet in a low pit can cause the pit latrine to fill up more quickly, due to the fact that most of the rainfall will fall directly into it. And the location of such a structure at a height can make it prone to strong gusts of wind.

Once the site was definitely needed to decide what type of cesspool is suitable for it.

Varieties of cesspools for a toilet in the country

In order to gradually build a toilet in the country, it is important to choose the right type of cesspool. They differ mainly in the degree of penetration of waste products into the soil, and are divided into sealed pits, as well as pits with a filter bottom.

Sealed pits require more money, due to the more frequent need to clean them. Pits with a filter bottom are cheaper, but they are fraught with environmental pollution, in addition, their use is not allowed in terms of sanitary standards.

There are different types of walls for cesspools, they can be monolithic, brick, plastic, and also consist of concrete rings. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Brick pit latrines are not cheap, however, they are strong enough, they can be made quite deep, which reduces the need for frequent cleaning, they have a fairly good seal. It is possible to create both a hermetic version and a design with a filtering bottom.

Plastic containers are quite inexpensive, but due to their size they will require more frequent cleaning, when creating a sealed structure, only the upper part is cut off from the container, when creating a filter, the lower part is also cut off, while the bottom is covered with a filter layer.

Structures made of concrete rings cannot be airtight, because they move easily in the ground, their use is permissible only in those places where groundwater is located at a considerable depth. After filling the pit with rings, its bottom is either covered with a concrete screed or a filter layer.

Monolithic concrete pit latrines are well sealed, but due to the nature of the construction, they can be difficult and expensive to make too deep, and therefore have to be cleaned frequently.

Speaking about cesspools, one would think that the construction of such structures is extremely difficult, below you will see how you can build a toilet in the country, photos, instructions, a description of the process.

Approaching the question of how to thoroughly make a toilet in the country house yourself, let's take a relatively simple and comfortable design, accompanying its construction with photographs, because in order to build a toilet in the country house with your own hands, drawings are not necessary, it is quite easy to do without them.

The foundation will be concrete pillars, for them we make holes of 130 millimeters by 0.8 meters. We insert pipes inside to the maximum possible depth (for example, old water pipes). After that, we fill everything with a solution using roofing material and sleeves.

The strapping will be a 100 by 100 beam, which we will fasten to the corners.

We cover the floor and the toilet seat with grooved boards. The design for the toilet seat itself is standard, nothing special, you can make it removable.

Racks are made of timber 50 to 50.

We make the roof from planed boards 25 by 120, add flat galvanized sheets to them, bending them along the edges at the back and front, from the sides we close the boards with a galvanized profile.

For walls and a toilet seat, we take 9 millimeters of OSB, varnish them on the inside to reduce the risk of splinters, and the toilet seat is also varnished.

The outer crate is made of a bar 25 by 50, almost any will do, we put siding on top of it.

In the lower part along the perimeter of the structure, you can put some trimmings from corrugated board, this will help create the desired visual effect.

The threshold can be finished with galvanization.

Polycarbonate can be used for the window at the entrance; small gaps can be allowed to create ventilation.

The door is made from an OSB sheet, boards 25 by 120 are applied from below and above, a board is also placed on the outside, space is left for siding, you can fasten the boards with the OSB sheet with simple self-tapping screws. Also, siding is attached to the structure with small screws.

I hope that the description of how to make a toilet for the dacha with your own hands, a step-by-step photo of this process, will inspire someone to new feats in improving life comfort, because it is on such little things that the full enjoyment of a summer vacation depends.

Now you know how to make a toilet in the country, what difficulties it can have and what you need to consider.

Toilet in the country with their own hands. Video of the construction process.

It should be remembered when planning to build a toilet for a summer residence with your own hands - step-by-step instructions will be special for each of the options, of which there are quite a lot. Structures can work according to different principles, and materials for construction are selected based on their cost, durability and aesthetic appeal. Experts recommend that before purchasing materials and building a toilet, not only carefully consider the chosen option, but also make the necessary calculations, find the best place for installation, draw a diagram or drawing.

When choosing a design in order to build a toilet in the country with their own hands, they are guided, first of all, by the comfort of using the building. Moreover, not only visiting the toilet should be convenient, but also its maintenance. In order to make the right choice, you should familiarize yourself with the features of each toilet option.

Pit latrines

The easiest option for waste disposal is a do-it-yourself toilet pit in the country. A house is installed above it, in everyday life it is often called, depending on its appearance, a “birdhouse” or “hut”, the degree of comfort of which depends on the capabilities of the master. The pit is cleared with the help of a cesspool machine. Similar structures - not the most perfect, but due to the simplicity of the device and the economy, they remain popular and in demand when it comes to suburban areas where the owners do not appear often. Pit toilets are also suitable for cottages with a small number of people.

In the photo, a diagram of the device of the toilet above the cesspool

backlash closets

Backlash-closet is an improved design of a toilet with a cesspool, its distinguishing feature is the complete tightness of the drive. The play closet can be arranged in such a way that the toilet is in a heated room (house), and the drive is outside it (usually near the wall adjacent to the toilet). The toilet bowl with the drive is connected by an inclined or vertical pipe, through which the waste flows by gravity into the tank. Due to tightness, the backlash-closet storage tank can only be cleaned with the help of vacuum trucks. play closet more convenient and hygienic than a regular toilet in a country house with a cesspool.

When arranging a play closet, the toilet is located in the room, which is an advantage of this type of construction

Powder closets

Powder closets are great in cases where when there is groundwater in the area close to the surface. This feature can cause trouble when installing other structures, but will not affect the operation of the powder closet. A significant advantage of this variant of the country toilet is the possibility at minimal cost turn waste products into environmentally friendly organic fertilizer. Powder-closet got its name from the principle of operation - the waste in the drive is sprinkled (“powdered”) with a dry composition (peat or peat-sawdust mixture). As a result, the occurrence of putrefactive processes is prevented, and the likelihood of unpleasant odors is minimized. Waste, sprinkled with peat, as the toilet tank fills up, is unloaded into a compost pit, where it turns into compost.

Powder closets can be stationary with bulk storage or compact portable. In the second case, a small-sized structure can be brought into the house at night or during rain.

Dry closets

The dry closets that have become popular, which are a ready-made compact toilet bowl, have really proven themselves during operation. Their principle of operation can be similar to the work of peat powder closet. Processing and decomposition of waste in such peat dry closets occurs with the help of a peat mixture.

In other models for processing it is possible. The composition of dry or liquid fillers includes cultures of certain types of bacteria.

In chemical models, the active substances for waste decomposition are chemicals. When choosing, it should be borne in mind that safe and effective fillers are more expensive than others, and some substances used by ignorant gardeners (chlorine, formaldehyde, etc.) are prohibited due to toxicity.

Choosing a place to build a toilet

Telling how to make a toilet in the country with their own hands, experts usually place special emphasis on where it is better to place the structure. In this regard, there are absolute requirements that must be met in any case. They determine the minimum distances from the toilet to residential and utility buildings, water sources and other objects:

  • to a house that has a cellar or basement, as well as to a garage or barn with similar underground structures - 12 meters,
  • to the source of drinking water - 25 meters,
  • to a barn without a cellar, garage or sauna - 8 meters,
  • to the fence - 1 meter.
  • Placing the building according to the wind rose will allow you to install the structure so that the unpleasant smell does not cause inconvenience to the owners and does not interfere with the neighbors.
  • If the site is distinguished by the complexity of the terrain, it is recommended to choose a flat place for the toilet, and if there is a source of water in the country, the toilet is located below it in level.
  • If it is necessary to use the services of a sewage machine for pumping out the toilet, it is necessary to provide for the possibility of its access to the cesspool, taking into account the length of the equipment hose.

Material selection

Building a toilet in the country with your own hands is possible from various materials. The choice is determined by the cost and availability of different options. For example, if an outdoor toilet is arranged as a temporary structure during the construction of a full-fledged sewer system, you can choose cheaper materials. If the cottage is visited only in the summer and an outdoor toilet is the only option, it is better to prefer reliability and durability, even if additional costs are required.

wooden models

Wooden outdoor toilets are probably the most common option. It combines economy and practicality, however, it should be borne in mind that wood is susceptible to moisture. To protect the material, you can use special impregnations. It is possible to significantly increase the service life of the material, primed and painted boards. Lovers of the natural texture of wood often cover structures with a transparent moisture-proof varnish.

brick toilet

A brick toilet is a capital structure that will stand without requiring repairs for decades. The cost of materials for such a construction is higher, but if you have some bricks left after building a house or garage, you should take advantage of this opportunity. If you are planning to build a brick toilet in the country with your own hands, do not forget that a massive structure requires installation on a foundation. Experts recommend choosing a strip foundation for a country toilet. It requires less excavation, reduces the consumption of cement for pouring, but ensures the reliability and safety of structures on almost any soil. Although for structures made of lighter materials, it is also possible to use a columnar foundation.

The use of corrugated board

A country toilet made of corrugated board is a frame structure sheathed with sheet metal material. The corrugated board has a coating that protects it from moisture, so it can be used for outdoor buildings without any risk. The frame of the building is wooden or metal of your choice. The use of corrugated board can significantly reduce the construction time of the toilet.

Construction of a pit latrine

If you are building such a toilet for a summer residence with your own hands, the step-by-step instructions begin with the drive device.

  • Digging a pit. Its volume is usually calculated based on the conditions of use (number of people, frequency and duration of visits to a summer cottage, etc.). Usually a pit with a depth of 2 meters is enough. The cross section of such a pit is a square with sides of 1 meter or a circle with a diameter of one meter. These parameters can be slightly increased, taking into account the need to strengthen the walls of the pit.
  • bottom execution. The easiest way can be backfilling the bottom with crushed stone or gravel. However, this method does not exclude the partial penetration of waste from the toilet into the soil. If groundwater is located in an area close to the surface of the earth, it is better to make the bottom impermeable, for example, by filling it with concrete mortar.
  • Wall reinforcement. You can strengthen the walls of the cesspool under the toilet in the country with your own hands with brickwork, concrete rings or concrete mortar, using the flood construction technology (the mortar is gradually, no more than 50 cm in height at a time, poured into the formwork). In all cases, it is important to ensure the tightness of the structure (fill the seams between the rings, avoid gaps when making brickwork). To protect surface water at the site from sewage entering them, the walls can be plastered or covered with a waterproofing layer for greater reliability.

Important: If the groundwater level in your area is higher than 2.5 meters, then the cesspool must be completely sealed, including the bottom.

After that, the selected house design is erected over the pit. Most often in such cases, a wooden structure is arranged.

Construction of a wooden house step by step

Toilet ventilation

Despite the fact that the correct arrangement of a country toilet with your own hands allows you to minimize the appearance of an unpleasant odor, and many models exclude the occurrence of putrefactive processes in the mass of waste, a toilet in the country, made with a cesspool, or other design must be provided with ventilation.

The ventilation pipe is inserted into the accumulator by at least 15 cm. Light and durable plastic sewer pipes with a diameter of 100 mm are well suited for these purposes. For stability, they are attached from the outside to the wall of the building with metal clamps. The ventilation pipe should rise about 50 cm above the roof. The ventilation pipe is protected from rain and debris by means of a deflector installed at the end of the pipe.

Construction of backlash closet

If you are deciding how to build a toilet yourself in the country, a backlash closet should be considered as one of the best options. It is very simple to implement and does not require significant expenses. At the same time, such structures are more comfortable than conventional "birdhouses" with holes.

First of all, it is important to choose a place for excavation. The waste pit, unlike many other structures, is carried out directly next to the house, since the toilet from which drains will flow will be located inside the house. So, it is required to designate a place for the toilet inside the room and a place for the drive near the adjacent wall. The depth of the pit must be at least 1 meter, and its walls must be completely waterproofed. Experts recommend making the bottom and walls of the tank from poured concrete, followed by coating the structure that has gained strength with a waterproofing layer (for example, bitumen). You can increase the reliability of waterproofing with the help of a clay castle (the thickness of the layer is at least 0.5 m).

The upper part of the toilet pit is closed with a double lid - a layer of heat insulator is installed between the layers of cast iron and wood. Gravity flow of waste can be ensured by the slope of the pipe that leads from the toilet to the storage tank (in this case, at the construction stage, it is necessary to provide an inlet for it, and after entering it, seal the seam) or by the design of the tank itself (an expanding pit with entry under the house in the direction from the toilet to the street with sloping floor). Ventilation is required for backlash closet. In the cold season, the efficiency of the hood can be ensured by the temperature difference, and in the summer it is better to use an exhaust fan.

Powder closet device

If you build such a country toilet with your own hands step by step, the instructions will be quite concise. The simplicity of the device is explained, among other things, by the fact that the powder-closet does not require the construction of a pit. For compact structures, earthworks are not needed at all, and for stationary structures, a recess in the ground may be required, in which a storage tank (bucket or tank) will be placed. The powder-closet device is reduced to installing a container for collecting sewage under the toilet seat and supplying the toilet with a box with backfill (peat, sawdust, etc.) and a scoop. Waste should be disposed of after each visit to the restroom.

Toilet in the country photo

Here we have selected a few photos on the topic of our article "How to make a toilet in the country with your own hands."

No one will argue that such a primitive building as a country toilet is one of the main structures, the construction of which is started in the first place. Agree that in a suburban area you can do without a country house, gazebo or fence, but without a toilet in the country - no way. A self-built country toilet will provide minimal comfort, which will allow you to fully relax and work.

Before starting excavation work, it is necessary to study the sanitary and hygienic requirements and, in accordance with them, choose the installation site.

Features of country toilets

Installing a toilet in the country is not difficult, while it is quite possible to do it yourself without resorting to outside help. It is important to take into account some features of such construction:

  • Mandatory compliance of the installation site with sanitary and hygienic requirements presented to cesspools;
  • It is impossible to allow a do-it-yourself country toilet to create inconvenience to neighbors ;
  • At the start of construction, it must be a method of emptying the cesspool is provided ;
  • The choice of toilet design directly depends on the water horizon of the site. With a low placement of groundwater, the cesspool should only be of a sealed type .

Following our instructions, you will not only be able to properly build a country toilet with your own hands, but also save yourself from the problems associated with its operation.

Varieties of toilets for summer cottages

In the country, you can build one of several designs of toilets. The selection criteria can be both the height of the water horizon and the frequency of use of the closet, as well as the amount of financial costs that are planned for its construction and maintenance.

All existing outdoor latrines can be classified according to the way waste is disposed of. Consider some of the most popular designs.

Toilets with cesspools for summer cottages

This is perhaps one of the most popular designs in rural courtyards and summer cottages. It is not difficult to build a cesspool-type toilet with your own hands in the country, because the sewerage system is an ordinary deep pit, in which liquid residues evaporate or soak into the ground.

The depth of the pit directly affects the frequency of its cleaning, so it is not often necessary to rake out the garbage. Most often, the hole is simply covered with soil, digging a new one next to it. An elevated structure can be anything - you can build a country toilet with your own hands from boards, bricks, slate sheets or metal profiles. The main thing is that the necessary strength of the frame is provided and ventilation is present.

  1. Wooden toilet. The choice of such a design is justified both by the simplicity of construction and its low cost. Agree, you can build a wooden toilet with your own hands with minimal skills. A wooden structure is often stylized as a fabulous house, having received not only a functional, but also an aesthetic structure. Often, not boards, but clapboards are used for sheathing the frame. Such a do-it-yourself country toilet also looks stylish, as evidenced by the numerous photos posted on the network. The most important advantage of a wooden building is that when the hole is filled, it is dug in another place, and the house is transferred.

  1. Toilet from metal profile sheets. There are two ways to install such a structure. In the first, a wooden frame is used, and in the second, a base welded from shaped metal pipes. Then the base is sheathed with slate sheets using self-tapping screws or rivets. It is not difficult to build a toilet from profile sheets with your own hands, but this design gets very hot in the summer in the country. It is best to install a metal closet in a permanently shaded place and sheathe it from the inside with polystyrene foam sheets.

  1. Brick toilet. Before you build a brick toilet in the country with your own hands, inspect the site well, study existing projects, watch the video. It will not be possible to transfer such a structure to a new place, so it is necessary to provide a way to clean the cesspool. When constructing a brick building, do not forget about the need to install a concrete floor.

play closet

This type of toilet resembles the design described above. Its feature is the device of the cesspool. Most often her walls and bottom are sealed so that during filling it was possible to pump out waste with a sewage machine. Equipping this toilet in the country with their own hands, they dig elongated pit, for the possibility of unobstructed installation of the vacuum hoses. A huge disadvantage of backlash closets is the impossibility of cleaning them in the winter. therefore, if necessary, install a pit heating system.

Powder closet

This toilet has a small (maximum 20 litres) waste container installed under the high chair. After coping with natural needs, the waste is covered with ash, sawdust or peat. To do this, a box with these bulk materials is installed in the room. If you are interested in the question of how to make a toilet in the country, remember the disadvantages of powder closets: pouring the contents of a sewer tank into a compost pit with your own hands is not the most pleasant procedure. We will not be silent about the huge advantage of such a closet - with proper ventilation, it can be placed even in a country house.

Peat toilet for a summer residence

The peat toilet is a more advanced powder-closet design. The peculiarity of the device is that there is no need for an additional box with peat - it is poured directly inside. Having visited the peat toilet, the waste is “powdered”, and after filling the sewer tank, it is taken out and taken out.

Choosing the location of the toilet

To build a toilet in the country with your own hands will help our recommendations regarding the choice of a place for future construction:

  • If you are planning a building equipped with a cesspool, then be sure to consider the need for an access road for a sewage truck;
  • The distance from the toilet to the place of water intake should not exceed the sanitary norm of 25 meters, the distance to nearby buildings should be more than 5 meters, and to the border of the site - 1 meter.
  • Be sure to study the wind rose map and consider their direction.
  • The door of the toilet should open in the direction opposite to the nearest boundary of the site.

In addition, do not install the toilet in very remote places and do not obstruct access routes. Provide free access to the facility.

We build a country toilet of the Birdhouse type with our own hands

The "birdhouse" is a wooden one, lined with any available material, with a single or gable roof. Such a toilet is installed in combination with a cesspool. By equipping a country toilet of this type with your own hands, you can use ready-made drawings or create an individual project.

As a typical project, you can take the following dimensions for the Birdhouse toilet with a pitched roof:

  1. rear wall height - 2 m,
  2. front - 2.30 m
  3. with a width of at least 1 m.

The dimensions of the base are not less than 1x1m. Installing a wooden toilet with your own hands is a must control of horizontal and vertical surfaces using the building level.

So, we are building the Birdhouse toilet. For work you will need :

  • Concrete border 2 m long - 2 pcs. or sand-cement blocks - 4 pcs.
  • Ruberoid - 2 m2.
  • Sand.
  • Edged board: 6000x100x50mm - 3 pcs., 6000x100x50mm - 1 pc., 6000x90x32mm - 3 pcs.
  • Lining 3000x87mm - 40 pcs.
  • Wooden beam 6000x50x50 - 1 pc.
  • Sheet steel profile galvanized 1520x2000x0.4mm - 1 pc.
  • Door block 900x2000mm
  • Door hinges, latch, handle, nails, self-tapping screws.
  • Paint or varnish.

Let's describe toilet building process in the country with their own hands in stages:

  1. Digging a cesspool not less than 1x1x2 m in size. Remember that the dimensions of the toilet that you plan to install in the country with your own hands are predetermined by the dimensions of the pit. At the bottom of the pit we pour a layer of broken brick or rubble.

  1. As a foundation for a house we install a concrete curb at a distance of no more than 20 cm from the edges of the pit as a ceiling. To do this, we dig it in so that the height of the concrete base above the ground is no more than 10-15 cm. Instead of a curb, you can dig four blocks of sand-cement mortar at the corners of the cesspool, on which we subsequently install the frame.

  1. Laying on a concrete curb roofing material in 3-4 layers as a moisture insulator.
  2. Building a wooden frame and sheathe it with boards, lining, etc. The floor of the toilet must be laid with a board with a thickness of at least 40mm. It is better to use hardwoods - oak, beech, larch and others.

  1. Cutting a hole in the floor up to 30 cm across. The shape of the "point" can be arbitrary: oval, heart, rhombus, circle, etc.

  1. We install the door and cut out a window of any shape in it for the passage of light.
  2. The roof of the house is covered with roofing material, asbestos-cement or profiled steel sheet.

  1. We paint the structure oil paint or varnish.

When equipping wooden country toilets with your own hands, do not forget to install the simplest ventilation. Its purpose is to divert air from the pit into the atmosphere. To do this, you can take any pipe with a diameter of at least 100 mm. Then, a hole of the required diameter is cut in the roof and podium of the toilet and the pipe is installed at a height of at least 20 cm above the roof. All places where the hood passes are sealed, and a deflector is installed at its end, which will create the necessary traction.

From the inside, the country toilet "Birdhouse" can be done with your own hands sheathe with foam, and in order to beautifully veneer it with suitable material, just watch a video from the network and use ready-made ideas.

We build a toilet of the "Hut" type with our own hands

The "Hut" type toilet, although more difficult to manufacture, looks much more spectacular than the "Birdhouse".

Some craftsmen stylize a country toilet like a fairy-tale house, creating real masterpieces with their own hands. Photos of such buildings from the network amaze the imagination with their thoughtfulness and craftsmanship. Well? Are we building such an original toilet in the country? Then we get down to business and begin to dig a cesspool. Its dimensions can be taken from the previous project. At the corners of the pit, a recess is dug in the ground for the installation of concrete blocks. To control the squareness, not only the distance between the blocks is measured. The diagonals of the base should also be the same.

When installing the foundation, they control the horizontal by placing an even rail on two adjacent blocks, and a building level on top. The height of the concrete base should be no more than 15 cm above the surface of the site.

In order not to miss important little things, install a country toilet with your own hands step by step :

  1. Lay any moisture insulator on an impromptu foundation. The roofing material, laid in 2-3 layers, copes well with this function.
  1. A frame is assembled from a 50x50mm timber bases measuring 1x1m and nail it with edged boards. On top of this "deck" a floorboard is arranged.

  1. Cutting a technological hole in the bottom. You can not be limited to a circle and come up with an interesting shape of a “point”.

  1. We cover the wooden base with an antiseptic from all sides. If, when installing a toilet in the country with your own hands, you are not sure of the correctness of your actions, study the instructions in which all processes are described in stages.
  2. Using a sketch or drawing, assemble the back and front parts.

  1. Sew both parts"Hut" from the inside clapboard.

  1. Install the back and front walls on the floor and fasten them with scraps of boards.
  2. Nail the batten boards. At the end of the work, they also need to be sheathed.
  3. Take boards with a length of at least 1800 mm and, resting them on the back and front of the "Hut", pin them to the rails. Thus, we get the roof of the house.

  1. Roofing on our built in the country, you can install a toilet with your own hands, having studied photos of similar structures or making your imagination work. In principle, any material will do, but do we really need banality when we create a house from a fairy tale?
  2. Installing a fad, you can decorate it with a suitable figurine.
  3. We hang doors, having previously provided them with a handle and a hook. From the outside we nail a spinner of arbitrary shape.

  1. Painting the toilet house oil paint or varnish.

When installing a toilet in the country with your own hands, turn on your imagination or watch a video showing a gallery of toilet houses, do not be afraid to experiment. Only in this case you will get an elegant, exclusive structure.

Features of installing a peat toilet

The use of a peat substrate for sprinkling waste is justified for several reasons.

  • Firstly, peat perfectly absorbs unpleasant odors.
  • Secondly, the increased hygroscopicity of the substrate contributes to increased liquid absorption, which ultimately contributes to an increase in the frequency of cleaning the toilet.
  • Thirdly, after direct application, the mixture is used as a fertilizer, since peat is initially rich in bacteria that convert organic waste into compost.

A factory-made peat toilet does not require connection to the electrical network, water supply and sewerage, so it is a truly autonomous design for a summer residence.

The operation of such a toilet is based on the separation of waste products into solid and liquid fractions. If frequent use of the device is expected, then the removal of the purified liquid fraction is provided by drainage or a special hose. The solid fraction is located in the lower container and, if necessary, can be easily removed, since the container is easily removed and has carrying handles.

The advantage of factory designs is also ease of maintenance - it is enough to remove waste from the storage tank, rinse the container and add the substrate.

The easiest way is to buy a ready-made device. For those who want to save money, we will tell you how to make a toilet in the country with your own hands. To do this, you will need several boards, a sheet of plywood, nails and screws, as well as a toilet seat. So, we describe step by step, how to build a peat-type country toilet with your own hands :

  1. We collect the box, connecting four boards with screws. We make a cutout in the front of the structure for ease of installation of the container.

  1. We sew the top side of the box with plywood sheet, after cutting a hole in it for a bucket.
  2. We fasten the legs to the corners of the box in such a way that you can easily replace the waste container.

  1. We install the structure on the legs and attach a seat to the functional hole (it can be factory made of plastic or wooden).
  2. Install a plastic bucket under the hole with a layer of peat previously poured to the bottom up to 5 cm.

  1. If you plan to place a peat toilet in open space, then build a house, for example, the same "Hut".

We specifically do not give the dimensions of the toilet, which is designed for do-it-yourself installation in the country. It is so simple that even a schoolboy can repeat the design. Let me just give a few recommendations :

  • Stock up on several buckets with lids. This contributes to the convenience of using the toilet.
  • Empty the bucket when the waste is no more than a third full.
  • Add composting bioaccelerators to peat.
  • Use factory filler.
  • Dump the removed waste into a compost heap and after the required time you can use it as fertilizer for garden crops.

We hope that our instructions, which describe step by step how to install a country toilet with your own hands, will help you solve one of the primary tasks that arise when developing a suburban area.
