A large and impressive craft, but what can you do for your beloved children!

Materials:

  • cardboard,
  • glue "Moment crystal",
  • acrylic paints,
  • acrylic lacquer,
  • sintepon,
  • fabric pieces,
  • braid,
  • beads,
  • wooden sticks,
  • tassels,
  • modeling mass,
  • scissors,
  • wire,
  • beads,
  • mirror,
  • beads pendants,
  • wallpaper pieces,
  • pencil,
  • ruler,
  • disposable containers,
  • fantasy.

Operating procedure:

It so happened that one of the daughters fell ill with chickenpox, and I needed to keep them busy at home. Decided to do it all together house for our dolls. They made it according to the principle: I blinded him from what was. We did not have a finished box, but there was a fairly large piece of cardboard and many small pieces of various thicknesses and textures. I thought that our house would be a small one of two rooms, but no such luck: 2 young designers had their own thoughts about our house.

As a result, we began to dollhouse 3 floors with 5 rooms(subsequently the upper floor was divided into 2 parts and 6 rooms came out).

Layout

I cut out 1 piece from a large piece of cardboard - this is the back wall of our house and 2 side ones (see photo 1).

Then she bent 2 side walls and began to glue the floor and ceiling (photo 2).

The house has dimensions: height - 74 cm, width - 50 cm, depth - 30 cm.

I pasted over the blank of our house with pieces of wallpaper and suitable paper (see photo 3).

Outside, the house is covered with wallpaper, the roof is strips of cardboard measuring 3 cm by 31 cm, glued with an overlap.

The frames are glued from strips of cardboard.

Our house needed a variety of puppet, which we tried to make with our own hands from improvised materials. I glued everything by eye without preliminary drawings and patterns. I just cut off a cardboard rectangle and glued the necessary pieces to it. All furniture is painted with acrylic paint and covered with acrylic lacquer.

Bedroom

So, room number 1 - bedroom. It has a lot of furniture, and the first thing we start with is this. Gluing it together is quite easy, just look at photo 4.

I covered the cardboard blank with acrylic paint, after the paint dried, I varnished it, glued a soft mattress, added a few soft pillows and a bedspread.

The following pieces of furniture are a chest of drawers and a bedside table (photos 5 and 6).

The principle of their manufacture is the same - a small cardboard box, to which false boxes are glued. In the bedroom there was a place for a comfortable rocking chair (photo 7).

A large and roomy closet also found its place (photo 8).

In photo 9, the whole room is in color.

common room

Room number 2 - common room to watch TV. The TV in our house is flat - a large cardboard rectangle was covered with black acrylic paint, after drying, a suitable picture was glued on and everything was covered with acrylic varnish.

The main place in this room is occupied by a spacious one; it houses a large puppet family.

The base of the sofa is a cardboard blank (photo 10).

The back and armrests are covered with paint and varnish, and the base is glued with padding polyester and fabric. The daughters already had a table - this is a wooden constructor, on which we pasted a piece of cardboard and painted everything together.
We see room number 2 in photo 11.

Video how to make a wardrobe:

On the second floor of our house there is a musical living room and a kitchen.

Living room

AT music room there is a fireplace (photo 12).

It, unlike all our furniture, is covered with cracks. At the beginning it was covered with white acrylic paint. After it dries, a layer of medium craquelure is applied. After this layer has dried, a layer of black acrylic paint is applied. After drying, the entire product is covered with matte acrylic varnish.

Since our living room is musical, a piano was glued together from 6 matchboxes (photo 13). It was immediately pasted over with colored paper, but the paper turned out to be of poor quality, and later it was painted, like all the furniture in the house. In addition, I glued 2 square beads to it - these are pedals.

The piano stool (photo 14) is glued from cardboard, painted and decorated with a velvet cushion.

Sofa (photo 15) and armchair (photo 16). I glued them out of cardboard and decided not to glue them with a cloth, but simply paint them with paint, my daughters helped me with this with pleasure. After applying varnish, they are very similar to leather.

The entire musical living room after painting the furniture (photo 17).

Kitchen

Room number 4 is the kitchen It is small but roomy. The kitchen set is a large L-shaped cabinet (photo 18).

The sink is a small plastic container for jam, and a faucet is molded from clay, and a small hanging cabinet:

The stove is electric with 4 burners (photo 20), its door opens.

In the kitchen we have 2 chairs (photo 21) and a table (photo 22).

Dishes were also glued from small things (photo 23).

In photo 24, our kitchen after applying paints and varnish.

On the top floor we have children's and toilet room.

Children's room

AT children's the main place is occupied by a bunk bed (photo 25).

It has soft mattresses and pillows. There is a small table in the room (photo 26) and a chair (photo 27).

There is also a cabinet for toys (photo 28).

In this room, I did not cut through the window, but simply glued the cardboard to the side wall. The room is decorated with a colored alphabet (cut out of paper packaging from a child's toy). In the photo 29 is a nursery in color.

Almost all the chandeliers in our house are glued together from disposable containers, beads, cock sticks and braid.

Only one, which is in the music room, is made of beads, wire and bead fittings.

I also glued a ladder to the house, but we still have it attached, because I'm afraid that if it is glued, it will interfere with the simultaneous play of 2 children.

Bathroom and toilet

For toilet room we needed a toilet, sink and bathtub. They needed to be made quickly and easily.

And I decided to just fashion them from the mass for modeling. What we later did with our daughters (photo 30).

They may not be perfect, but they are made together.
Our works dried for about a day. Next, we painted them with white acrylic paint and covered them with a glossy acrylic varnish. After drying, the tank turned out to be quite heavy, then I replaced it with a lighter one (cut it out of cork and painted it). To keep the sink stable on the wall, I glued a nightstand under it. The bedside table was painted like all the furniture in the house. Next, I glued the nightstand to the wall and floor of the house, and then glued the sink. A faucet (molded from modeling mass) and beads are glued to the sink. There was no finished mirror, and we also have it made of cardboard.

The toilet bowl is made of several parts - the base, cockerel sticks, a tank (made of cork), chains and beads.
All this structure is complemented by a seat - cut out of cardboard and pasted over with a plain fabric.
In photo 32, the entire toilet room is in color.

So quickly and fun from improvised materials, together with our daughters, we built our dollhouse. Such crafts always bring joy to children.

Let it be quite simple so far, but the daughters are quite happy with it and play together with pleasure.

Quick article navigation

We are convinced that only home-made can be better than a purchased dollhouse. After all, it is very interesting to “build” and decorate it to your liking for both parents and children. Moreover, everyone can make a house for dolls with their own hands, this will require only a few tools, simple materials and creative inspiration.

Master class 1. How to build a house in half an hour from a cardboard box

A cardboard dollhouse is good because it is done quickly and from improvised materials. It can be very beautifully designed and periodically completed - add new rooms, floors and entire buildings.

Materials and tools:

  1. A large cardboard box that will hold one to three floors for dolls 25-30 cm tall (Barbie, Monster High, Bratz, Winx, etc.).
  2. Scissors and cutter.
  3. Scotch tape in a contrasting color (does not include painting) or masking tape (if you want to paint the house later). In this master class, bright green tape is used, and the house itself is not painted.
  4. White paint.
  5. Decorating materials (optional): scraps of wallpaper, wrapping paper, paint, brushes, etc.

Step 1. First, cut the box in half and cut off the top flaps from both halves.

Step 2. We put the resulting pieces of cardboard into action: cut out the triangular gable of the roof from one part, and make a small hole in the other - this will be the second floor with access to the stairs. Next, glue the parts into place with tape and / or glue.

Step 3. From the unnecessary part of the box, cut out the slopes for the roof and another floor for the attic, and then glue the parts onto the adhesive tape. Do not forget to cut a hole for the stairs in the attic floor.

Step 4. Now we cut out the windows and the front door on the first floor with a clerical knife, having previously drawn the markup. Then we cut out stairs from the remnants of cardboard and glue them to the floors.

Step 5. Hooray! The frame of the house is ready, now you can proceed to the "finishing". In this master class, all the details from the tiles on the roof to the steps of the stairs were drawn with a white marker.

As soon as the "repair" in the house is over, you can start creating furniture.

You can come up with your own house design - paint the house and the roof from the outside, draw window frames, paste over the walls with “wallpaper” made of fabric or scrapbooking paper, and finish the floor with linoleum or laminate. In the next selection of photos, you can get ideas for decorating a doll house miniature and cardboard furniture.

And here is an example of a cardboard house for dolls, upholstered in fabric, or rather, scraps of old dresses and pillowcases.

And finally, we offer you to watch a video review of a dollhouse for Monster High dolls, made by hand from several large boxes.

Master class 2. How to make a doll house from a bookshelf or rack

Do you want to make a stronger house without fiddling with blueprints and a jigsaw? Then use a small shelving unit or, say, an old bookcase as a base. With the help of the simplest steps, you can turn an ordinary piece of furniture into a wonderful house for dolls.

  • Best for "construction" is a cabinet with a depth (25-30 cm), which has a back wall. So, for example, in this master class, Ikea's Billy shelving unit is 30 cm deep and 106 cm high (pictured right). In such a house, you can equip three floors, quite suitable for 25-centimeter Barbies or Monster High. The price of Billy's rack is 2000 rubles.

Materials and tools for reworking the frame:

  1. Cabinet, chest of drawers or shelving;
  2. Plywood, MDF or boards 25mm thick, 30cm wide and at least 120cm long (these are measurements for Billy's closet, but you can take shorter or longer/wider boards depending on your closet dimensions);
  3. Sheet of hardboard, PVC or MDF wall panel (for the manufacture / replacement of the back wall and the manufacture of partitions in rooms);
  4. Bar 5x5x20cm (a pipe will be made from it);
  5. Several small photo frames that will become trim for windows;
  6. Decorative molding of small width (polyurethane can be used);
  7. Screws and screwdriver;
  8. Carpentry glue or liquid nails;
  9. Drill and drill.

Decoration materials:

  1. Wood putty (optional, but desirable for masking fasteners and joints);
  2. Primer (optional, but desirable for better paint durability);
  3. Acrylic paints of desired colors;
  4. masking tape;
  5. Brushes and / or spray gun;
  6. Scissors;
  7. Materials for lining the walls of rooms (paper for scrapbooking is best);
  8. Popsicle sticks to create a lattice fence;
  9. Roof tiles material.

Step 1. Painting the rack

This step is optional if you are satisfied with the color of the selected shelving or cabinet. For example, white or plain colored furniture will look great even without painting.

  • If the cabinet is old or has a too “furniture” look, then it definitely needs to be repainted. To do this, we act according to the following scheme: sanding and grinding - primer (until dry) - a layer of paint (until dry) - a second layer of paint (until dry) - a layer of matte varnish.

In this master class, the dollhouse will not only be painted, but also decorated with brickwork. If you like this decor idea, then prepare the following accessories:

  • Cellulose sponge;
  • Gray paint;
  • Acrylic paint (our instructions use a mixture of two paints - the colors of red brick and chocolate).

So, first we paint the entire rack with gray paint. As soon as the last layer of paint dries, we begin to create brickwork. To do this, we cut out a rectangle about 3.5 × 8 cm in size from a sponge, which will become a template for painting.

Pour the paint into the container, soak the sponge in it and, starting from the bottom of the cabinet, print the bricks - first one row, then the second row in a checkerboard pattern. Do not forget to maintain indents between bricks of about 5 mm. Paint about 1/3 of the house this way.

Step 2. Making windows

This step is also optional, but if you want to create a realistic miniature of the house, then it's better not to skip it. In order to cut windows, you first need to measure the window "frames" (if any) and draw markings on the cabinet walls from the outside.

Once the markings of all windows are ready, you can start cutting. To do this, use a drill to make holes in the corners of the markup inside the border to create a starting point for the jigsaw blade. To make the edges of the windows look neater from the inside, you need to glue the masking tape on the inside of the cabinet along the marking contour. In the photo below you can see the process of work.

To give the windows a more finished look, putty and paint the "window niches", remove the tape, and glue the frames on the outside of the house.

Step 3. Mounting and decorating the roof

In order to make a roof, you need to cut 2 boards from plywood (or other lumber) 30 cm wide, but of different lengths - 61 cm and 59 cm.

Now we join the end of the shorter board at a right angle with the edge of the 61-cm board and again drill holes, but only at the end of the short board, passing the drill through the three holes made earlier on the edge of the long board. This stage is clearly shown in the next photo.

Glue two boards together, then fix with screws. If desired, the joint can be sealed with putty.

Next, we move on to finishing the roof. It can either be painted in 2 layers, or pasted over with “tiles” from improvised materials, for example, from cardboard or cork sheets. And finally, on the ends on the front side of the roof, we glue 2 parts of the molding.

Step 4. Creating and installing a pipe, installing a roof

It's time to turn the 5x5x20 cm wooden block into a chimney. To do this, simply saw off one of its corners (45 degrees) and paint according to the principle described in Step # 1. When the paint is dry, we fix the chimney to the roof with screws.

Well, that's all, the roof is ready, it remains only to screw it to the cabinet in the inner corners, as shown in the photo.

Step 5. Replacing or installing the back wall

The next step involves equipping the rack with a wall, if it is not there, replacing the existing wall with a prettier one (for example, under a white lining) or simply installing the missing wall for the attic floor. We perform the following actions: we make the necessary measurements, cut out a blank from the hardboard / wall panel and fasten it on the back side with cloves / screws / glue.

Step 6 Install Partitions to Create Rooms

Cut out interior partitions from any material (hardboard, wood, MDF, plywood), then cut doorways into them and install with glue or screws. Woo-ala! The doll house is built, you can proceed to the most exciting part of the work - the decor and filling the rooms with furniture.

If you add a rack with wheels, the house will turn out to be mobile

And here is an example of equipping a dollhouse with lighting, which can not only create comfort in it, but also play the role of a night light.

Master class 3. How to make a plywood dollhouse

Making a dollhouse out of plywood or wood is somewhat more difficult, but it will look better and last so long that in the future it can even be inherited. To create such a house does not need to have special skills. It is enough to have the tools, clearly follow the drawing and the following video instruction, from which you will learn how to make a do-it-yourself dollhouse for 25 cm Barbies and other dolls 25-26 cm tall.

All photos from the article

In this article, we will look at how to make a plywood dollhouse. Of course, you can always go to the toy store and buy a ready-made model there, but there are several reasons not to rush into such a decision and still get your hands on the tools in order to create a small miracle for your child. So let's get started.

General provisions

To begin with, let's deal with the motivation why it is generally worth taking on the manufacture of a doll house with your own hands:

The benefits of handmade

  • Saving. The price of factory models is quite high, while home-made ones will significantly save the family budget;
  • Uniqueness. The project you implemented will be one of a kind, your daughter will definitely not meet the same toy with her friends;

  • Compliance with desires. In your dollhouse there will be exactly such rooms, such shades and such decorations as the child wishes to see;

Tip: connect your child to work, this will allow both of you to have fun and make a homemade toy even more beloved.

Benefits of choosing plywood

So, why it is worth taking up the work with your own hands, and not running to the store, we figured it out. Now let's define the material.

A wood-laminated board consists of several sheets of wood veneer glued together, which determines the presence of the following advantages:

  • High strength characteristics. Durable children's toys always last much longer than their flimsy counterparts;
  • Ease of processing. Plywood is easily sawn, painted, drilled, milled and fixed with nails or self-tapping screws;

  • Aesthetic appearance. The top veneer has a beautiful original textured pattern and a warm shade that is pleasing to the eye;

  • Low thermal conductivity making it warm to the touch. For a child, this is an important factor;
  • Relatively low cost. Wood-laminated board is not expensive, and you will need very little material to complete the task in question.

But, speaking about the advantages of plywood, it is necessary to mention its possible disadvantage, which is of no small importance. The adhesive used in the production process of the particle board may contain formaldehyde, which is highly toxic.

Therefore, be sure to pay attention to the appropriate labeling and choose an environmentally friendly product, because your child can contact it, and the following labeling will help you with this:

Getting Started

The instruction begins, as in most cases, with the preparation of all the necessary accessories that you may need in the process of implementing your project:

Step 1: Preparing Your Supplies

  • The required number of plywood sheets with a thickness of 5-7 mm;

  • Jigsaw for wood for sawing sheets;

  • Joiner's glue for creating a roof;

  • PVA glue for fixing decorative elements;
  • Mounting tape;

  • Paint and brush;
  • Pieces of wallpaper with a small pattern;
  • Corrugated type cardboard for the roof;
  • Rulers made of wood, which will serve as stairs;
  • Pencil and construction tape for drawing all the necessary sizes;
  • Self-adhesive film with a wood pattern for flooring.

Now you need a drawing of a plywood dollhouse with dimensions in order to avoid mistakes during the assembly process and get a truly beautiful and functional design.

Step 2: drawing

Drawings of a plywood doll house can be borrowed from the Internet, making your own adjustments along the way, or you can draw everything yourself.

It is noteworthy that the installation of the front wall can generally be abandoned so that there is constant free access to the house.

Step 3: Assembly

Having everything you need at hand, including drawings of a plywood dollhouse, we proceed to the main task:

  1. We mark on a sheet of plywood all parts of the future housing for dolls;
  2. According to the markup, we cut out walls and other structural elements using a jigsaw. We also create window and door openings;

  1. We sand all the ends to exclude the possibility of the child getting injured on the sharp edges of the cuts;
  2. We glue the joints of the elements of the middle of the structure and connect, fixing the joints with mounting tape;
  3. Next, glue the back wall. Here you can already do without adhesive tape. Protruding glue is carefully removed with a clean rag;
  4. Then, also with the help of an adhesive solution, we mount all the internal partitions;
  5. We do roof installation.
  6. We cut small “tiles” from the prepared cardboard, after which we paste it on the roof and paint it with a brush and paint in the desired color;
  7. We paint or paste over the walls with pieces of wallpaper, giving them an aesthetic well-groomed appearance;
  8. We glue a self-adhesive film on the floor, creating the illusion of a real wooden coating;
  9. We cut wooden rulers into small parts and assemble stairs from them;
  10. We mount flights of stairs, arrange furniture and hang curtains. This completes the process of assembling a plywood doll house.

Limit your own imagination on what has been achieved is not worth it. You can, for example, build another fireplace from matchboxes, lay carpets from pieces of fur or wool, install a gym or even a swimming pool. All in your hands. The main thing is that the daughter is happy with the result.

Conclusion

The process of creating a plywood doll house is simple and very exciting, especially if you connect the child himself to it. As a result, an inexpensive original beautiful structure will come out, giving reason to be proud of the work done. The main thing is to follow the above recommendations and be careful.

The video in this article will give you the opportunity to get acquainted with some additional materials related to the information presented.

Become a magician for a child, make a child's dream come true! If you have any questions after reading the topic, you can ask them in the comments.

There is probably no little girl in the world who does not dream of a doll house. You can buy a variety of toy cottages in stores that look like real ones. It is worth trying to make a house with your own hands. The mini-house is designed for small dolls, other toys that the child plays with. It can be made from a beautiful box with compartments, plywood, fabric. The house will also serve as a small closet for toys.

Making the design will not take much time, effort, will require a minimum amount of materials, the child will definitely be delighted! An easy way to please a baby is to make a house for dolls with your own hands from cardboard, boxes, plywood. How to do this - we will tell below.

How to make a house - step by step

Do-it-yourself cardboard house

Before starting work, choose the appropriate drawings of the house, it is worth figuring out what material is best to use, how to cut holes, glue rooms so that the structure is strong and stable.

How to choose cardboard, boxes?

An important material is the boxes, or rather the cardboard from which the boxes are made. The difference between different types of cardboard is shown in the photo below:

The cardboard structures shown in the left picture are strong, stable, and do not deform under the weight of subsequent floors. The cardboard floor shown in the right picture may sag under the weight of the next floor, you will have to start work again.

How to cut out rooms?

Cutting rooms is not easy. After looking at many photos of the houses, it can be seen that some of the holes have a frame. This is the most convenient hole option. Removing the entire side is a mistake! Such a room will tremble, disintegrate, look unsightly. The frame (albeit without the bottom part) needs to be cut out and in cardboard boxes to be combined, increasing the interior of the rooms. To understand what we are talking about, you should look at the visual aids in the form of pictures below.

Here's how to create a room from one box: you need to designate the future access hole, leave 5 centimeters for the frame, cut out the hole.

Step-by-step drawings of a house consisting of two boxes

Connecting rooms - stitching walls

To prevent the dollhouse from falling apart, you need to ensure a strong connection between the rooms. A reliable way to connect rooms from cardboard boxes is stitching.

Would need:

  • gypsy needle,
  • thick thread,
  • pliers.

The cardboard is sewn with the simplest large stitches.

Regardless of whether you combine boxes with an open connector or with a door opening, we always follow the rule: we sew along the edge!

It is necessary to "immobilize" the boxes in the workplace, where they can move, disperse under the influence of the applied glue, it will be difficult to work, it is easy to spoil the final result. Below are 3 examples of stitching rooms.

The drawing connects 2 boxes without holes. It is necessary to “grab” the middle in several places so that the cardboard does not move after gluing.
The second drawing shows an example of stitching boxes with a hole.

Note. In this and the following drawings, for better visibility of the seams, some of the walls of the rooms are "hidden".

The third drawing shows an example of stitching boxes with a hole for the door.

Connecting ceilings to floors

  1. Sew the ceiling and floor close to the edge - this is the same rule for walls and ceilings.
  2. There is a second rule: you need to immobilize the "dangling" elements - the parts indicated in the figure below:

Now let's start sewing. First, the outer edges are sewn together, then the inner ones.

At the end, we fix the dangling elements, sew along the line of their contact.

Attention. Dangling elements located on the floor of the upper floor and on the ceiling of the lower floor, if they do not overlap, we hem each. The diagrams below show such a situation. I:

What if the dangling elements do not touch each other, and a hole is obtained?

  • If the situation occurs on the ceiling - it's okay.
  • If a hole is made in the floor, it must be closed.

There are 3 ways to close the hole.

  1. The first is to choose another box.
  2. The second is to rotate the cardboard box 180 degrees vertically (the hole will move to the ceiling).
  3. The third is to fill the hole, you need to insert a piece of cardboard of the appropriate size (the same thickness as the whole cardboard), then sew it on, as shown in the diagram below.

Shapes and sizes

Above is the basic knowledge of sewing a dollhouse out of cardboard boxes. Which option to choose depends on the builder. By choosing boxes, you can manipulate the size, distribution of rooms, create a tiny one-story house or a huge multi-level villa. Below are a few diagrams depicting the addition of the next floors of the dollhouse. Boxes can have different heights, widths, depths, giving the house a special shape.

Photo of the design of cardboard houses

Dollhouse made of plywood, photo

The plywood house is a real challenge. Plywood is harder to work with than cardboard. It is worth preparing for work in advance. The plan is important, the design of the house, drawn on a sheet with dimensions. Below are instructions on how to build a plywood dollhouse step by step.

Drafting a project

It is desirable to draw the project on a sheet in a cage. The scale might look like this: 2 cells on a sheet = 10 centimeters. It is so easy to calculate the actual dimensions of the house. The house can be made small or a larger structure - with 2-3 floors.

  • The small house in the diagram has dimensions: width - 60, height - 57 centimeters.
  • The large house shown in the picture is 120 cm high and 80 cm wide. Depth - 22 centimeters.

Calculation of the amount of materials, necessary tools

Below is a calculation for the production of a large house.

Necessary materials:

  • hardwood plywood 4 mm thick, dimensions 90/22 centimeters (side walls) - 2 pieces;
  • plywood 4 mm, dimensions 80 × 22 centimeters (lower and upper part of the structure) - 2 pieces;
  • plywood 4 mm, dimensions 79.2 × 22 centimeters (floors) - 2 pieces;
  • plywood 4 mm, dimensions 50 × 22 centimeters (roof) - 2 pieces;
  • plywood 4 mm, dimensions 30 × 22 centimeters (internal walls) - 2 pieces;
  • plywood 4 mm, dimensions 60 × 20 centimeters (front wall with a chimney);
  • laminated fiberboard 3 mm 120 × 80 cm (rear wall);
  • acrylic paint for wood.

Tools and accessories:

  • glue for wood;
  • hammer, nails;
  • jigsaw;
  • sponge roller;
  • ruler;
  • pencil.

Step-by-step instruction

  1. Plywood painting. Plywood elements need to be coated with acrylic paint. The finished product is much more difficult to paint. Hypoallergenic paints are now available, drying in 20-30 minutes. The paints are non-toxic, odorless and can be used indoors.
  2. Construction of a rectangular frame. When the paint dries, you can start building a rectangular cottage. You will need: plywood 4 mm, dimensions 90 × 22 cm (side walls) - 2 pieces; plywood 4 mm, dimensions 80 × 22 cm (lower and upper part of the structure) - 2 pieces. Glue must be applied to the tangent edges of individual plywood elements, matching them with each other at a right angle, we fasten the connection with small nails. 4mm plywood is very brittle, so accuracy in nailing is important. Attention, the use of glue is necessary! Without its binding properties, the nails will fall out of the plywood, the work is done in vain.
  3. Construction of individual floors. The next step is to attach the shelves that will serve as the floor for the individual floors. Shelves consist of 2 sheets of plywood measuring 79.2 x 22 cm each. In the project, each floor has a height of 30 cm. On a rectangular structure, measure 30 cm from the base, then another 60 centimeters from the base. Draw a horizontal line marking the place where the first shelf is attached, draw it with glue, attach the shelf to the line. Do the same work 60 cm from the base. Then attach 2 shelves with nails to the side walls.
  4. Back wall cutout. Now it's time to make a 120 x 80 cm laminated fiberboard back wall. On the long sides of the board, measure 30 cm from the top edge. Mark the center of the top edge - this is the future roof. Draw 2 lines from the top of the roof to the places marked at a height of 30 centimeters from above, you will get the outline of a triangle. Using a jigsaw, cut out the shape of the house along the drawn lines.

In this case, you can take into account the desired size, number and design of rooms, layout, furniture features and additional decorative elements. This toy will be unique.

Dollhouse with original plywood furniture

There are many materials that can be taken as a basis for the manufacture of a dollhouse. However, plywood is most often used for these purposes. This is due to a number of advantages of the material for assembling a toy house. These include:

  • plywood is a pleasant to the touch material, always warm, like all wooden toys;
  • subject to the rules of construction, the finished structure will come out strong, and can be used even for the most violent games;
  • plywood has a low cost, so it can be used to build an inexpensive house, unlike a ready-made store option;
  • to work with plywood, they require affordable tools that can be found in every home;
  • The surface of the plywood itself is smooth and aesthetic, so there is no need to additionally decorate the surface.

In addition, plywood is a safe material. However, when choosing it, you must pay attention to the marking. The composition of the impregnating adhesive contains formaldehydes, which are hazardous to health. Therefore, only material marked E0 should be used.

Making a drawing

To build a plywood house, you will need a detailed drawing with the dimensions of all the details. First you need to decide on the approximate dimensions of the structure. Its size should be based on the wishes of the future hostess, as well as the size of the room in which the house will stand. In addition, it is necessary to think in advance about the shape of the product and its style.

Dollhouse drawing

If a ready-made drawing is used, then it must be remembered that when changing the dimensions of certain parts, other dimensions should also be proportionally changed. If the drawing is drawn up independently, it is necessary to include the following data in it:

  1. The back wall should be in the shape of a rectangle or pentagon. The latter option is preferable, because it will allow you to make the original roof with beveled edges.
  2. The base, which should be slightly larger in width than the interior space. This will simplify the assembly process of the structure.
  3. The overlap of the second and third floors, which should have the same size and be slightly smaller than the base.
  4. Side details.
  5. Partitions between rooms.
  6. Elements for the manufacture of the roof.

Details of assembling a plywood dollhouse can be found in the video:

The dimensions of all elements can be easily calculated independently by drawing a sketch on paper. To simplify the work, you can use ready-made schemes, making the necessary adjustments to them.

Materials and tools

Making a plywood house is a multi-stage and complex process. One of the most important stages is the preparation and purchase of the necessary materials and tools. If you do this in advance, the process of making a house will go faster.

For work you will need:

  1. Plywood. The main building material for making a dollhouse. To calculate the required quantity, it is necessary to calculate the number of parts and their area according to the drawing, add up all the data. The resulting value should be rounded up. A small house will require an average of three sheets, and for a huge doll palace, up to ten sheets of material may be needed.
  2. Corrugated cardboard. It can be used to make a roof. This material can be replaced with ordinary cardboard or plywood.
  3. Electric jigsaw. The best tool for working with plywood. Allows you to quickly cut parts of the desired size with minimal risk of cracks and chips.
  4. Joiner's glue. Great option for fastening plywood parts. It dries quickly, has no unpleasant odor and does not leave marks on the material.
  5. Mounting tape. It is recommended to use as an additional means for fixing parts, especially in those places where strength and reliability of the structure are required.
  6. Self-tapping screws. The main structural elements for reliability can be additionally fixed with self-tapping screws.
  7. Sandpaper. Use it to clean all edges of the material to prevent injury and cuts.
  8. Roulette, ruler, simple pencil.

Additionally, you should prepare materials for decorating the house. To do this, you can use wallpaper or films that imitate them, colored paper and cardboard, film as a floor covering. You can also use pieces of linoleum, fabric, felt, laminate. Additional paints and glue are required. Plexiglas or plastic should be inserted into the windows.

Plywood dollhouse manufacturing technology

To make a plywood doll house, first of all, you need to transfer the images from the sketch to the plywood. To do this, the elements of the drawing should be printed or drawn by hand, after transferring them to sheets of material.

Cut out the details with a jigsaw, after which the edges must be carefully processed with sandpaper so that the edges of all the details are even and smooth. If windows are not indicated on the diagram, at this stage they should be marked on the workpieces, cut out and also processed with sandpaper.

A simple dollhouse

After that, you can go directly to the assembly of the house:

  1. With the help of building glue and self-tapping screws, it is necessary to attach the side walls to the base.
  2. It is necessary to mount the ceilings of the second and third floors, as well as all internal partitions, on the side walls. If the parts were not cut very carefully, and gaps formed between them, you can cover them with a special putty for wood, and then paint.
  3. A roof is installed, which can be cut from corrugated paper and the same plywood. If paper is used, then it must be painted in the form of tiles. When using plywood, tiles are glued to the roof, which must be cut out of colored paper, cardboard or other decorative materials.
  4. Installation of interior decoration. Pieces of linoleum, carpet, felt or fabric can be used to finish the floors. The walls are pasted over with wallpaper, colored fabric, film or painted with gouache.
  5. Furniture manufacturing. For a plywood house, furniture is best made from the same material. In some cases, a good solution would be to use ready-made furniture, which can be bought in sets or separately in children's toy stores.
  6. House coloring. It can be painted in various colors with gouache or watercolor. However, plywood is an aesthetic material, so you can leave it without staining.

Additionally, near the house you can make a small garden in which cardboard flowers and trees will grow. This will give the toys an even more delicate and beautiful appearance.

After assembling the structure, it remains only to decorate the interior space

house design

After manufacturing, the frame should be decorated with various materials, as well as arrange doll accessories in the rooms. At this stage, instructions are not required, you can decorate the house to your liking. However, here are some helpful tips to help you:

  • the walls and floor of a wooden house do not have to be painted or glued with decorative elements;
  • for hinged windows and doors, special small metal door hinges should be used;
  • windows should be decorated with fabrics to make curtains.

In the finished house, you can arrange your favorite dolls and other toys. Making a plywood house is not difficult, and the joy of a child from owning such a toy is priceless. A beautiful dollhouse will also be a real decoration for a child's room.
