SEWED SNOW

SEW A SNOW BALL FOR KINDERGARTEN

Entertainment was planned in the kindergarten: the capture of the fortress and other fun. But since Epiphany frosts are on the street, the entertainment will take place in the gym. And therefore snowballs must be non-melting. So I sewed a few “snowballs” for kindergarten

I used the junior's white flannel diaper, sintepuh filler, sewing threads, of course.

The pattern was built based on the following calculations. Four petals are needed per ball. The height of the petal is half the circle, the width of the petal is a quarter of the circle. So the height of the petal is twice the width.

If you need a certain diameter of the ball, then the formula will come to the rescue: circumference = 2 * pi * radius.

For a ball with a diameter of 8 cm, the petal must have a height of pi * radius, i.e. 3.14*4=12.56cm; and the width is ½ * pi * radius, i.e. ½*3.14*4=6.28cm

We build a pattern of a petal, lay it out on fabric,

cut with seam allowance.

Then we sew on a sewing machine, and leave the last seam about 1/3 open.

Through this hole we turn the future ball on the front side and fill it with filler.

Sew up the hole by hand with a hidden seam.

Everything, the snow is ready! Forward, to take the fortress!

New Year is a holiday of miracles, and every family is looking forward to this magical night. Someone dreams of a radio-controlled aircraft, and someone wants to start a new life. But it is we who bring the holiday into our lives, and it begins with small decorations. Store-bought Christmas decorations are cold and soulless, although they can be beautiful. But handmade give warmth and comfort, filling the house with a fairy tale. Plus, it's a great way to spend time with your child. Today we will tell you how to make Christmas tree toys from cotton wool with your own hands and get a lot of pleasure from the process and the result.

Christmas toys made of cotton wool: what could be easier?

Cotton wool is a simple material, which is easy to get, and you will not spend a lot of money on creating a toy. Cotton wool is safe, although during long work it is very dusty, hairs appear that settle on everything around. This may cause sneezing. The simplest New Year's cotton toy - snowman.

Cotton toy for the Christmas tree "Snowman"

  1. Roll the cotton wool into a large and dense ball.
  2. Use a brush to cover with PVA glue thin layer.
  3. Insert a toothpick in the middle.
  4. Make the ball smaller and repeat step 2.
  5. Make another ball smaller than the previous one and repeat steps 2 and 3.
  6. Put the balls on top of the toothpicks in descending order of size - this will be the body of the toy. Give the glue time dry completely.
  7. If you want to make a brighter festive option, you can mix small sparkles into the glue.
  8. We make handles from small twigs of a suitable shape or from black wire.
  9. To hide the seam, you can tie a scarf around your neck. Use a scrap piece of fabric or a wide satin ribbon. Or ignore this item.
  10. Suitable for eyes dark beads, small beads. In their absence, draw the eyes of the snowman with a black gel pen and a black felt-tip pen.
  11. We form the nose in the same way as the body, only we knead orange watercolor paint into the glue. Feel free to color: the carrot nose should turn out bright.
  12. We attach all related parts to PVA glue, a moment or a gun - this is your choice.

Cotton snowman

Christmas wadded toy "Snow Maiden"

  1. Vatu slightly sprinkle with water and make a face. We form a dense oval and intuitively make small indentations under the eyes and mouth. Irregularities are smeared with a brush, soaked in water.
  2. We give time to dry. On the head we make a loop of wire, we also form the frame of the toy from it.
  3. Wrap it with cotton, lightly dipped in PVA glue. We fix the prepared face on the glue.
  4. During winding, try to form arms and legs - for example, in the thigh area we make a layer of cotton wool thicker.
  5. On the head we lay out a scarf from cotton wool, forming the desired volume and shape. You can touch up the details with a damp brush.
  6. We also form a fur coat and felt boots. We send to dry for a day. First 10-15 minutes dry in the oven and then naturally.
  7. We paint the figure with watercolors.
  8. We strongly dilute the beige shade with water and cover the face to get a natural color. When it dries, we carry out the same procedure with a blush. BUT fine and clear details(eyes, mouth, nose, eyebrows) better paint with acrylic paint.

Figurines of their wool. Christmas decorations

Santa Claus from cotton wool on the Christmas tree

We made the Snow Maiden in the master class described above, but she is lonely hanging on the Christmas tree without her kind and beloved grandfather. So now we will do cotton Santa Claus.

What you need:

  • cotton wool;
  • cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • PVA glue;
  • paints;
  • newspaper;
  • tassel;
  • wire.

The process of making a toy:

  1. Wire pliers bend the loop.
  2. We cut out the frame of the future toy from cardboard. If it is difficult to navigate by eye, you can make a sketch in advance.
  3. We tear the newspaper into pieces. One sheet - about 3-4 pieces, well crushed and glued to the cardboard, making the volume.
  4. We glue the loop on the reverse side, for strength it can be wrapped with nylon thread.
  5. We divide the cotton into strips and cover the toy well, it is possible in several layers so that the newspaper does not shine through.
  6. Dilute glue with water in the ratio 1:2. We coat the toy well, leave to dry.
  7. With the help of additional pieces of cotton wool soaked in glue, we form a hat, sheepskin coat, felt boots and other details of the image, after which send to dry.
  8. We paint with paints and draw a face.

Blank - Santa Claus from cotton wool

We make Christmas toys from cotton wool with a child

For needlework with your child, you can start with small and simple wadded Christmas toys. It is worth noting that it is difficult for small children to draw small details, so we advise you to leave this matter to yourself.

You will need:

  • cotton wool;
  • thick wire;
  • pliers;
  • watercolor and acrylic paints;
  • PVA glue.

We make from cotton a few hard balls and wet in glue. We take the wire and bend the loop so that a small tip remains. We also lubricate it with glue and stick it in the middle of a cotton ball. Dry for at least 12 hours, and to speed up the process, you can put next to the battery.

These are our blanks for future Christmas animals.

Small parts are formed in the same way as a cotton ball, but due to their size they dry for 6-7 hours. You can stick them on glue gun or moment.

Then paint the toys with watercolors, which dilute a little with water- so they lie better on the surface. 2-3 layers may be needed, and muzzles are more convenient to draw fine brush and acrylic paints.

Cotton Christmas toys

Simple do-it-yourself toys made of cotton wool for the Christmas tree are ready! In this technique, children most often make Smeshariki cartoon characters due to the almost complete absence of small details, but you can help them make slightly more complex toys.

More ideas for cotton toys for the Christmas tree

Above, we described several techniques in which toys are made from cotton wool. The main thing - show imagination, and you can make any figure, and we will show you a few more ideas.

  1. bright star. A blank is cut out of cardboard and made according to the principle of Santa Claus. When coloring, mix small bright sparkles into the paint or sprinkle the finished product, but you need to do it quickly, before the paint has time to dry.
  2. While creating figurines of people faces it is better to make it from salt dough or cold porcelain - this way the toy will turn out more natural and lively.
  3. Cotton can be shaped frame only and clothes - from improvised fabrics and unnecessary shreds.
  4. Pay attention to cotton wool when buying - it should be old style. Now they are releasing synthetic winterizer from which it will not be possible to make toys.
  5. If you don’t have wire on hand to make a loop, fit thick woolen thread or twine.
  6. With the techniques above, you can do any animals- squirrel, fox, deer, wolf, bunny, hedgehog, bear.
  7. To save cotton, for the frame, you can use wire, cardboard, newspaper, office paper, unnecessary pieces of fabric and other improvised means.

Before you get started, draw a sketch of the future toy. Think over all the details, and then its manufacture will not cause problems, and you will not have to rack your brains in the process

We hope that now you don’t have a question about how to make a cotton Christmas tree toy, because this easy and fun activity. The cost of 1 figure is several times cheaper than the store. The creative process is exciting and interesting, helps children develop fine motor skills and imagination. Toys made with love fill the house with warmth and comfort.

Don't know how to make artificial snow? We have prepared the top 15 fastest and easiest recipes. Artificial snow is almost indistinguishable from the real one!

For crafts with children, decorating the interior or decorating festive dishes, it is often necessary to create a snowy effect. Artificial snow is sold in bottles and in bulk, but the prices for it are almost like oil. So that the financial side of the issue does not limit the creative side, we suggest making snow yourself.

Recipe #1

Ingredients:
- foamed polyethylene (used as a packaging material for equipment, glass; shoe inserts) or foam;
- small grater.

Work with gloves so that the snow does not stick to your hands. Grind polyethylene or polystyrene on a grater (with a stick, fork). Voila! Fluffy flakes are now all over the house. To make the snow even sparkle, add sparkles.

If you want to powder specific objects with such a snowball, grease the surface with liquid PVA glue. Toddlers like to crush the foam with their hands, watch how it sticks to their fingers. Do not deprive them of this joy, especially since such an activity remarkably develops fine motor skills. If the foam consists of large solid balls, it is not necessary to rub it on a grater, you can manually break it into small crumbs.

Recipe #2

Ingredients:
- the remains of dried polymer clay (plastic).

Needlewomen often have the remains of polymer clay, which is a pity to throw away. If you grind it with your hands, and then with a coffee grinder, you get a light and multi-colored (when using colored clay) snowball. Such artificial snow can be used to decorate postcards and other hand-made products.

Recipe #3

Ingredients:
- coarse salt;
- water.

Fill a saucepan with a little water and place over low heat. Add salt until it no longer dissolves. Dip the plants (beautifully curved tree branches, spruce or pine legs with cones) into the hot solution and leave for a day. Sparkling frost is guaranteed! If you add brilliant green, food coloring or ink to the salt solution, then the frost will turn out to be colored! Plants treated in this way look beautiful in winter bouquets and do not lose their attractiveness for a long time.

Recipe #4

Ingredients:
- white baby soap or a candle.

Rub the soap (candle) on a fine grater. If you mix such snow with talc (baby powder), then it is quite possible to decorate a children's craft, drawing. Another option is to use such snow to make “a la snowball” toys, when glycerin and artificial snow are added to the water (you can also use sparkles or finely chopped rain). The container is hermetically sealed and when shaken, the snow falls smoothly to the bottom.

Recipe number 5

Ingredients:
- semolina.

Semolina can perfectly imitate snow on postcards or children's drawings. Apply glue to the place that needs to be covered with snow and sprinkle with semolina. Shake off the rest after drying. Instead of semolina, you can glue crystals of sea salt.

Recipe #6

Ingredients:
- PVA glue;
- shaving foam.

Mix equal proportions of PVA glue and shaving foam. You will get a wonderful airy snow paint. You can add glitter to the paint. With this paint you can draw snowflakes, snowmen, polar bears and winter landscapes. After some time, the paint will harden, and you will get a three-dimensional winter picture.

Recipe number 7

For crafts with kids, you can use torn white paper. This exercise is very useful for motor skills.

Recipe number 8

As snow, you can use cotton pads, synthetic winterizer, foam balls.

Recipe #9

Ingredients:
- sugar.

Dip the rim of the glass (glass) in water or syrup, and then in sugar.

Recipe number 10

Ingredients:
- gum arabic;
- egg white.

With the help of these components, non-poisonous and non-bitter plants can be candied. For example, pear flowers, apple trees, cherries, roses, violets, primroses, lemons, begonias, chrysanthemums, gladioli, pansies. Candied leaves of mint, lemon balm, geranium are obtained beautiful and very fragrant. Dissolve 12 g of gum arabic with constant stirring in ¼ cup of hot water (in a water bath). Cool the solution. Prepare sugar syrup: 100 g of sugar in ¼ cup of water. Also cool. On plants, apply with a brush first a solution of gum arabic, and then sugar syrup. Sprinkle with fine granulated sugar (but not powdered). Dry on parchment paper or tracing paper. Such "snowy" beauty will not deteriorate for several months. With these flowers you can decorate a birthday cake or your favorite pies.

Recipe #11

Ingredients:
- egg white;
- sugar.

Beat egg white and sugar until foamy. Apply with a brush to the petals of the plant and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Put the plants prepared in this way on parchment and put in the oven on a small fire. Two hours later you can admire the beauty!

Recipe #12

Ingredients:
- a pinch of salt;
- egg white.

Beat the egg white and a pinch of salt in a steep foam with a mixer. Lay this impromptu snow on the meat and send it to the oven! Surprise your guests with a chicken in a snowdrift! Non-melting frosty patterns on the windows

Recipe #13

Ingredients:
- beer;
- magnesium or urea.

Real frosty patterns can be made on glasses if you apply a solution of beer and magnesia (sold in a pharmacy). Wash and dry the glass. Dissolve 50 g of magnesia or urea in 1/2 cup of light beer and apply to glass. You can use a brush, sponge or cotton swab. When applied, mimic frosty "feathers" and swirls. When the liquid begins to dry out, crystals will begin to appear on the glass, similar to real frost patterns. You can use a hair dryer to speed up the drying of the glass. This solution is easily washed off window panes. It is very beautiful to decorate the glass in the interior doors or on the landing at the entrance.

Recipe #14

Ingredients:
- PVA glue;
- powdered sugar.

In order to write congratulations or draw pictures on glass, you can use ordinary glue and powdered sugar. Apply the design with a brush or stencil and dust with powder. The only negative is that the pattern can “float” if condensation accumulates on the glass. Having decorated the glass with frosty stains, do not forget about the window sill.

Recipe #15

Ingredients:
- water;
- sodium hyposulfite.

Don't let sodium hyposulfite scare you, you can find it in photography stores or chemical supply stores. It is also called sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate (this is a photographic fixer). Dissolve 30–40 g of sodium hyposulfite in half a glass of water and apply the mixture to the glass. Wait for it to dry. The crystals are dense, white, opaque.

Which of the recipes to use - decide for yourself. It all depends on what you need snow for, what effect you want to achieve. Sometimes it’s enough just to scatter (or stick) pieces of padding polyester, cotton pads, paper confetti. Sometimes you need a texture paste or fluffy small granules. Nobody canceled the old proven way of painting on glass with white gouache and toothpaste. In fact, there are a lot of options to create a truly winter mood! Do not wait for "manna from heaven", create a "snowy" mood for yourself right now!

Dear readers! What snow recipes do you know? Have you tried making snow with the kids yourself? Share your tips in the comments.

A wonderful winter time is dear to each of us from the school bench. Who doesn't have wonderful memories of playing fun winter games and enjoying snowflakes flying from the sky as children! However, as the climate changes, winter does not please us so often, but the soul still requires a holiday! How to create a festive snowy atmosphere for yourself? How to make snow with your own hands?

There is a sure method to cook snow in just using a kettle of boiling water. However, this will require a “real” fierce winter outside the window. At least 25 degrees below zero. Then with a kettle of boiling water you can go outside, and in a matter of seconds turn it into a pile of snowballs. To do this, you need to carefully throw out all the water from the kettle and, lo and behold, no more water pours out of it, but snowflakes fly out!

This method is good when it's really cold outside. But how to prepare snow if it is warm there or just a light frost?

In fact, making artificial snowflakes at home is not that difficult. There are several methods that are suitable for this case. You can make snowflakes from seven different materials:

  • baby diapers;
  • salt;
  • Styrofoam;
  • soap and toilet paper;
  • soap and water;
  • cotton wool;
  • sugar and water.

Now more about each method of making snow mass.

Making snow out of diapers

You can prepare snow happiness in three stages:

  1. We buy this diaper in the store. As a rule, its main component are special sodium polyacrylate granules. In its pure form, this item is not for sale. But from one large diaper you can get several handfuls of snow;
  2. now you need to gut the diaper, carefully cutting along the seam. Powder will spill out from under the outer soft coating, which must be carefully collected in a large bowl. The powder should be at least half as much as the free space in the bowl;
  3. now you can add water to the container. By the amount it should be a little more than the powder itself. Now the most amazing begins. The wet powder will begin to grow rapidly in size! The picture is reminiscent of a fairy tale about a magic porridge that crawled out of a pot.

Our snow is almost ready! If you need a multi-colored material, then any dye can be added to the water. Thus, you get a multi-colored snowball, from which you can make any compositions or gifts.

This method takes a little time, and the output is almost real crumbly dry snowflakes that do not stick to your hands and do not freeze your fingers. It turns out that making snow at home is really easy and fast.

However, if there are children in the house, then it is important to ensure that the child does not eat such a “snowflake”. No matter how hypoallergenic diapers may seem, sodium polyacrylate is a chemical element. If used incorrectly, it can cause serious harm to the body.

Making snow from salt

With the help of salt, it will be possible to make not so much a handful of snow as a delicate cover of hoarfrost. It is interesting to do this business with a child. For him, this will be both an exciting activity, and at the same time there will be a chance to gain some basic knowledge in the field of natural sciences.

You can make frost from salt in five steps:

  1. buy rock salt in the store;
  2. prepare a solution. For one kilogram of salt, two liters of water are required. Stir until completely dissolved. It will not be easy, but it is an important step in the whole process;
  3. to obtain frost with some color tint, you need to add dye or ink to the solution;
  4. now the fun part. We take a branch (spruce, flower, string of beads) and dip it into the salt solution. Leave in this container until the solution has completely cooled;
  5. now you can remove your object from the saline solution and leave to dry.

After the final drying, the immersed object will acquire a white coating, which in appearance will very much resemble winter frost. Now you can use this branch to make bouquets or arrangements.

Preparation of snow mass from foam

To prepare such snow, you just need a piece of foam plastic left over from buying household appliances or warming the house. You need to take a fine grater and grate a piece of foam on it. The result is a pile of snow that is suitable for use in crafts or decorations.

The advantage of polystyrene is its harmlessness. This environmentally friendly product does not emit any odors or fumes. Therefore, even allergy sufferers can make snow from polystyrene foam. In addition, this is one of the most budget options, as it does not require any additional costs.

With the help of such snow, you can make snow-covered branches. To do this, it will be enough to grease the branch with glue, and then sprinkle with cooked snowflakes.

How to make snow out of soap and toilet paper?

The process of making snow from soap and toilet paper is somewhat unusual, but crafts can be easily sculpted from such a mass of snow. For example, you can sculpt snowballs or even a whole snowman.

To make snow, you need to prepare several rolls of toilet paper and a piece of white soap. The paper needs to be torn into small pieces. In a large glass dish at the bottom you need to put a piece of soap and cover with torn paper. This dish needs to be microwaved at 100 degrees.

The mixture should “bake” for about a minute, but every fifteen seconds it must be stirred, as if fluffing. The soap must not be completely dissolved. It should just become soft.

The resulting mixture should be poured with a glass of water, mix well and add another half glass. Our snow is ready. From the resulting mass, you can sculpt any figures that your imagination can master.

How to make snow with soap and water

Such snow will not last long, but it will be an interesting activity for both the parent and the baby. For its preparation it is enough:

  1. grate one bar of white baby soap on a coarse grater;
  2. add a quarter cup of boiling water;
  3. using a mixer, beat the solution to the state of thick sour cream.

Knowing how to make snow using this method, you can prepare it in advance before bathing a child. This will give him a lot of pleasure, and his parents will allow him to calmly bathe him.

Cooking snow from cotton wool

The advantage of this method of making snow is that after using it, the house does not require general cleaning. All ready-made snowflakes will be easy to place anywhere in the house, as well as successfully removed. Here is the preparation itself:

  1. we roll a large number of rollers from cotton wool;
  2. we dip an ordinary thread in PVA glue;
  3. string cotton balls on a thread wet from glue;
  4. the thicker we lower, the more impressive the snow garland will be;
  5. let dry;
  6. decorate your home with the resulting snow garlands.

Cooking sweet snow

An unforgettable event for the whole family will be the preparation of sweet snow, which can be eaten. For him, made in the form of snowflakes and stars.

A pinch of sugar and egg yolk are beaten with a mixer until very thick foam. The resulting foam can decorate all the cookies, and sprinkle with powdered sugar on top. Everything is baked in the oven on low heat. As a result, it will turn out to make a lot of snow, which will be fabulously tasty and beautiful!

With the help of sugar, you can also frame the edges of the glasses. After wetting the glasses, you can dip them in sugar and let dry. Sugar will be securely fixed on the glasses, creating an unusually beautiful decor.

Can artificial snow be used on ski slopes?

Interestingly, at the moment, some world-famous ski resorts use artificial snow for their slopes. Snow for the ski run, of course, is not prepared by any of the above methods. There, for this, special pumps or snow guns are installed, which give out snow quickly and automatically. Although in nature snow forms only at temperatures below zero, artificial snow is made at higher temperatures by the action of special proteins.

However, some experts believe that although real snow can be replaced in this way, environmental damage cannot be completely avoided. The movement of large volumes of water from one place to another often leads to a sharp decrease in the water level in freshwater rivers, and they, in turn, play a key role in supplying local residents with drinking water.

In any case, making artificial snow at home is an exciting experience. It will bring happiness to children and adults, and will be remembered for a long time as a colorful and memorable event!

By the New Year, it is customary to decorate a house with all kinds of decorative elements, tinsel, candle arrangements, decorate a Christmas tree, decorate windows, etc. We propose to go further and decorate the house with snowballs, of course not real, but very similar to the original. Below we will tell and show with various examples how to make a snowball with our own hands. Decorative snowballs can be put in a bucket and placed at the front door, they can also be effectively laid out on wall shelves or a fireplace, and of course, decorate the Christmas tree with them. If you are interested in the question of what artificial snow can be made of, then we recommend reading.

1. How to make a snowball from a foam ball and artificial snow.

In the stores "Everything for Creativity" we purchase the required number of small foam balls. We cover each of them with a plentiful layer of PVA glue (it is convenient to apply glue with a wide brush), immediately sprinkle with artificial snow. For convenience, artificial snow can be poured into a plate, and simply dip the glued balls into its composition. After that, the ball must be pricked on a toothpick and fixed on a piece of plasticine until completely dry.

2. Textile snowballs.

We cut out three petals from a soft snow-white fabric, which we sew together on a sewing machine, from the wrong side, turn the cover inside out, put a synthetic winterizer inside, sew the remaining hole with our hands.

3. Snowballs from foam balls and putty.

We string the ball on a thick wire (we form a hook from one end of the wire), cover it with a layer of putty, which is convenient to apply with a small knife designed for butter. We hang snowballs on a wire by a hook until completely dry.

4. Snowballs from sewing threads.

We go to the pharmacy for medical fingertips, inflate them, tie them so as not to be blown away, take the finest snow-white threads and wrap them around the balls from the fingertip, cover the top of the product with a layer of PVA glue, leave them to dry. When the balls are dry, pierce the fingertip with a needle and pull it out into the hole from above.

5. Snowballs made of cotton wool and PVA glue.

We form a small ball from cotton wool, cover it with a layer of PVA glue, cover it with another layer of cotton wool on top, and dip it again in PVA glue, this must be done until the size of the ball corresponds to the average size of a real snowball. At the end, cover the ball on top with the final layer of PVA glue and sprinkle with white glitter. We leave to dry.

6. How to make a snowball out of wool in a washing machine.

We take white woolen threads, wrap them around the fingers (see photo), then tie them in the center, create a winding with threads to form an even ball. We thread the end of the thread into the eye of the needle and stitch the ball through several times, cut off the extra tip of the thread. We put the balls in a nylon stocking, if there are several balls, then it is worth tying a thread between the balls. We send the balls to the washing machine on the hottest setting, together with them we put several tennis balls in the machine. After the washing is completed, it is necessary to turn on the drying mode, if this is not the case, then just take out the balls and leave to dry in the sun or near the battery.

7. How to make a pom-pom snowball.

We cut out two circles from cardboard, cut out round holes in the nutria of each of them, as a result we get two cardboard rings. We connect the rings together, cut them from one part, and wrap them with threads. When the rings are sufficiently wrapped with threads, we cut them in a circle with scissors, connect them in the middle with a thread of the same tone, then fluff the pompom with our hands, and trim it around the perimeter with scissors. The result is soft and fluffy snow.

8. DIY snowball made from soap and starch.

You can also make a snowball with your own hands from soap, starch and a foam ball. We take snow-white soap, rub it on a grater, pour in potato starch, mix, pour in hot boiled water, pour white sparkles into the mixture. Beat the resulting composition into foam with a mixer. We apply the mixture with our hands on a foam ball, leave to dry.

How to make different Christmas decorations (21 ideas):

Summing up, we can say the following, as practice has shown, making a snowball with your own hands is as easy as shelling pears, it is so simple that even a small child can handle it. In addition, shaping snowballs is a very interesting activity, by the way, lovers of such activities can also read an article about making, inside which snowflakes dance when shaken.
