Landscaping and planning

Minecraft is a popular indie game developed in the Java language by just one programmer. Despite the terrible graphics and complete lack of detail, the project was a huge success, and the product itself turned out to be one of the most popular in the world. For several years, the company has been developing the game, modernizing and improving it for its users. But understanding the application interface is not so easy and simple, so the question arises: “How to connect to a network game in?”.

To complete this task, one of your friends or acquaintances must create a separate world in which it is planned to complete the game and further create or develop your own village. Be sure to make sure that his Internet provider is stable, and the power of the computer, in particular RAM, is enough to support several players, otherwise the server may crash or crash out of the open world.

Next, you need to collect all the players in one network. Secondary programs cope with this task, the leader of which is Hamachi - an easy and pleasant network utility to learn. Once in the same network group, you have the ability to connect directly to any user who has opened the world.

The last step in this tutorial is a direct connection. The creator of the world must open the game for other users, using the settings in the main menu: Settings - Options - Open for web. The corresponding line about the successful operation will appear in the chat, as well as the code of the port to which you need to connect.

At this time, players must go to menu - multiplayer - direct connection. In the line that appears, you need to enter the IP address of the creator (displayed in Hamachi) and enter the desired port through a colon. You can enjoy the game!

Note: From time to time, players experience connection difficulties. One of the most common errors is the game not found. To get rid of the unpleasant message, the creator of the game needs to go to the game settings (file server.properties) and change the values in the online-mode line from "true" to "false"- this will help disable game client authentication.

When you have learned how to play MineCraft well, have mastered all the basics of the game, got to know its inner world, you can move on to an online game that can be played both with people from other cities on Internet servers and with friends on a local network. In this article I will tell you how to play Minecraft on a local network and on the Internet.

How to play minecraft online?

You can play MineCraft on the Internet on servers specially created for this purpose, you can find them on various online monitoring and ratings. To start the game, we need the game itself (preferably the latest version), a powerful computer (otherwise the game will slow down), high-speed Internet access (a channel of 1 Mb / s will be enough) and the address of the game server. So, let's begin. Launch the game, enter it under your login, and then select the "Multiplayer game" item (second button). A connection window will appear in front of you, in the first line we enter the address of the server on which we will play, after which we click on the "Connect" button, in the English version of the Minecraft game with skins http://minecraft-mods.pro/skins/ "Connect" and we get to the server. Once on the server, you will find that you cannot do a single action, it happened because you are not registered on this playground, this is done quite simply, in just a few steps. To register on the server, press the English letter “T”, a chat will open, enter the following command “/ register pass” in it, where we change the word “pass” to our own password, that is, it looked like this for me - “/ register trash784". After a couple of seconds, the server will issue a confirmation of your registration in the chat and allow you to enter the game, to do this, enter the command “/login pass”, where we change the word “pass” to your password. It will look something like "/login crosh". After registering and entering the server, you can start playing, perform various actions and do any business, from building buildings and farming, ending with their destruction and traveling around the game world.

How to play minecraft on LAN?

You can also play MineCraft over a local network with friends, for example, this is quite relevant for playing for fun or just when there are problems with the Internet (for example, technical work). To play on a local network, we need several computers (from two or more), an Internet cable of a decent length, if there are a lot of computers, then also a router or a Wi-Fi access point. We connect all computers with a wire, after which we go to the network settings. AT windows 7 is done like this: Start -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings. We find the name of our own network, open the properties, the “Network” tab, first select the TCP / IPv6 setting, a small window opens, uncheck it, save it, open the TCP / IPv4 setting, go the following way: Properties -> Use the following IP address. Enter the following parameters:

  1. IP address: 192.168.0.1
  2. Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
  3. Default Gateway: 192.168.0.2
  1. Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.0.2

After we press the button save, "ok" and close the settings. See the server setup below, after setting up the local network for windows xp. Settings for Windows XP: First, open the Control Panel and go to the following path: Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connections. Open the properties, the General tab, open TCP / IP, a window with properties will open, select the item "Use the following IP address", enter the parameters:

  1. IP address: 192.168.0.2
  2. Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
  3. Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

Open the tab "Use the following DNS server" and enter the parameters:

  1. Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.0.1

Save the changes and close the settings. Creating and configuring a server. When we have set up the local network, we can move on to creating and installing the MineCraft server itself, which is not so difficult to create, this is done as follows:

  1. Download any game server suitable for your version of the game, save it to a folder.
  2. Open the "server.properties" file, find the line "server-ip=..." and remove everything after the "=" sign so that you have a line with an empty value "server-ip=".
  3. We find the line “online-mode=false” in the same file, delete “False”, insert “true” in its place.
  4. The server is ready, now you can start it. To start the game, open MineCraft and in the line with the server address enter: 192.168.0.1:25565 (for Windows 7) or 192.168.0.2:25565 (for Windows XP).

The second way, suitable for all types of operating systems, in the line "server-ip =" enter the value "localhost", save the changes, open the game and write localhost in the line with the IP address and then click on the connection. But, this method does not work on all computers and far from all (due to many subtleties and features), so it's easier to use the first option. That's all, with such simple and quick steps you can set up Minecraft to play on the Internet and with your favorite friends on the local network.

It seems that everyone plays on the network, you go to the server and play for yourself. But what to do if you don’t feel like running in a single, and with just anyone - too. That would be with friends, or at least with one. But for this you need to make your own server. You can also run around the local area, if there are two or three of us. In general, there are options. From the moment the multiplayer feature appeared in Minecraft, basically, this is how people played. It was then that full-fledged servers began to be created. In addition, not all servers can be accessed if the game is not purchased. Moreover, if you officially have to pay for the client part of the game, then the server part is initially freely available, that is, if the machine pulls, and even better, if there is a separate computer where you can put the server, then you can run a full-fledged "adult" server for free, and without breaking any laws. In order to play Minecraft online for free, and without registration, you will have to make your own server. Here are some solutions.

How to play online in Minecraft. Creating a local network

The local network will be convenient if we want to play with one or two friends. The more people we are going to let into our games, the further we move away from the local network, and the closer we get to a full-fledged server. You can create a local network:

  • Physically, having two computers in the same room or building, a network cable between them, Wi-fi or through a router.
  • Programmatically, and computers can then be located in different cities, countries, and so on ... Such a local network is created using VPN, tunneling and other terrible things. For our purposes, there is a rather convenient program - Hamachi, which manages the tunnels on its own. The main thing is that all participants have the same version of Hamachi.

Physical LAN

For it, you need to establish a connection between computers bypassing the Internet. If both of your computers have the same source of Internet access (the same Wi-Fi network, cable connection to the same router, etc.), then there is a good chance that they are already physically on the same local network, or within one "network node". In this case, additional configuration, most often, is not needed, the same router is responsible for distributing IP addresses. In case two computers are connected directly to each other, it may be necessary to manually configure the IP addresses.

After that, you can start Minecraft, create a network game, and start playing. Players will simply need to find a server on the local network. The only negative is the high load on the distributing computer or mobile device. Yes, having the appropriate versions of Minecraft, you can play both through a smartphone and a tablet, only the server takes up a lot of resources. To solve this problem, it is better to assign a computer that is not participating in the game as a server.

Logical LAN

Let's figure out step by step what you need to do to play minecraft online through hamachi. For this:

  1. First of all, you need to download Hamachi. Link to the official site.
  2. After downloading the same version on all computers, install it.
  3. On one of the computers, preferably the one that will be the Minecraft server, we create a connection in Hamachi. Enter the network name and password to connect to the network of other participants.
  4. On other computers, you can now connect to the created network by entering the appropriate name and password.
  5. Now that the connection is established, you can run Minecraft on the main computer and create a world. After creation, open the world for the network. We remember the port that will be specified in the chat when opening the world over the network.
  6. Participants, having launched Minecraft, copy the IP address of the main computer (IPV4 - it is easy to copy it in Hamachi), select “direct connection” to the server in Minecraft and insert this IP into the “Server Address” field, and after it, without spaces “:” and port number. After that, they click the "Connect" button and get to the server.

Creating a server for Minecraft

If you want 5-10 people to participate in the game, then it will be more convenient to make a normal server already.

In order to do it, you need

  1. First, download the server part from the site https://minecraft.net/ru/download/server.
  2. The downloaded file is placed in a separate folder, which will also be the root of the server directory. We run the file and let the files necessary for the server to unpack.
  3. The server is ready to go. For its settings, you will need to make changes to the file server.properties. It has a lot of parameters, but first of all it will be useful game mode, which allows you to set the default game mode, white-list, which will allow access only to certain players, and max-build-height, first of all - to limit the load on the server .

It is worth noting that the files that are in progress are subject to change, and the changes you make take effect only after the server is restarted. Therefore, it would be more correct to edit the server settings when it is turned off.

How to play online in Minecraft. Connecting to your server in Minecraft

If we still want to connect to our server from the same computer on which it is running, then we need to launch the Minecraft client, and when connecting to the server, specify localhost or 127.0.0.1 as the IP. The default port is usually 25565.

To connect to your server via the Internet, it is better to have a static IP on it, otherwise you will have to enter a new address almost every time you reconnect. To determine the IP address of the server (where to connect something?), The easiest way is to use an online service, such as http://2ip.ru. “Your computer name”, consisting of four series of numbers, is your IP address. The port for Minecraft is still the same - 25565.

If the server connects to the Internet indirectly, through a router, router, then this port may be closed on the router. In this case, the best solution is to open or "forward" this port on the router. Opening a port on a router requires access to it through its web interface, and sometimes downloading additional software.

In the simplest case, you can enter the web interface of the router using the settings indicated on its body. The IP address can change, and when you enter the web interface itself, the combination of login: admin and password: password almost always works.

Depending on the router model, its firmware version, the “forwarding” function may be called NAT or Port Forwarding. Having found the corresponding menu item, you should fill in the fields of the start and end ports with the desired value (in our case, 25565), and in the IP address field, specify the address of the computer that we use as a server. Ports are configured for TCP and UDP protocols. After such an operation, the server must be available to users via the Internet.

In order for a server with high attendance to work stably, it must be administered, but this is a separate issue. Stable servers are usually made not on Windows, but on Linux, and this operating system has many of its own features. In addition, additional mods and scripts will be required to maintain public interest. All this will take time and effort, and it will take more than one article to describe the administration process itself.

Ways

There are two methods by which you could play with other people.

  • The local network.
  • Internet.

At their core, they are very similar and do not differ in many ways, but each has its own nuances that you need to remember. For example, you can build your map for a long time and then make it available for local play. Remember to make a copy, otherwise it will be very disappointing when other players destroy what you painstakingly created.

In any case, you will need some things without which you will not be able to play with other people. This is the Internet, the Minecraft client, "direct" hands. You also need to remember that you will have to make changes to the settings of the computer, so be careful, the entire responsibility for bringing the PC to a non-working state will fall on your shoulders. And now let's figure out how to play Minecraft with friends.

The local network

Imagine that there are a couple of computers without Internet access, and they are located in the same room. Moreover, a local network exists and is configured between them. In this case, you can play Minecraft online. 2 friends must install the same version of the client on both computers. Now the sequence of actions is quite simple:

  1. One of the players must create a single player game with the desired settings.
  2. After that, he needs to press ESC and open the game for multiplayer.
  3. A message will appear in the chat about starting a server with a specific IP address. He must be remembered.
  4. The client also starts on the second computer. Only the other player enters the multiplayer mode already. If the game does not automatically find the server, then you need to add it by entering the IP that you remembered a little earlier in the search bar.

Thus, the question of how to play together in Minecraft on a local network is solved.

Imaginary network

If your computers are separated by a huge distance and connected exclusively by the Internet, you can also play as a couple. There are different ways to play together in Minecraft over the Internet, so first we will consider an option that does not require advanced computer settings.

To do this, you will need to download and install a utility such as Hamachi. Both friends must install it and register, after which one of them creates a server room in the program, to which his friend must connect. This method creates a virtual private network - an analogue of a home local area network, only organized via the Internet. The quick-witted user probably already understood that further actions are similar to the previous paragraph. There is only one "but". If your computers do not see each other, then add Hamachi to the firewall and antivirus exceptions.

Internet

If you do not want to be smart again? Theoretically, if you download the same version of the client from one site and perform all the same manipulations as in the first case, you will be able to connect to a friend. On the other hand, you can use Minecraft. Download it on any site specializing in this game, install and run. After that, you will only have to send out your address to people with whom you would like to play together. There is nothing difficult in this. So good luck in mastering the cubic world and trying with a network game. And most importantly, if something does not work out, do not be discouraged and try again and again, then you will certainly succeed.

To make sure whether it’s realistic to play Minecraft with a friend via Hamachi over the network, I specifically downloaded the demo version of the game from the official website and tried to play it myself. It turned out to be very simple, the setup did not take much time, I prepared an instruction, following all the steps of which you can play Minecraft through Hamachi (or rather, through the virtual local area network that the program creates).

Step 1

Launch Hamachi (you can download the latest version of the program) and create a new virtual network. To do this, run the program and click on the " Turn on».

Click on the button " Create a new network» or select this item from the top menu.

Come up with a network ID (it must be unique) and a password (remember it!), and click " Create».

Step 2

Launch the Minecraft launcher and click the " Play". Shown in the demo:

In the game, press the " ESC" and click on the button " Open for web».

In the next window, click on " Open the world to the web».

After that, information will appear that the local server is running on the port " number such and such". Write down the port number, if you don’t do this, you won’t be able to play Minecraft through Hamachi with a friend (he will need the port number when connecting).

Step 3

Now your friend should connect to you. He needs to launch Hamachi (register in it if he has not done so before), click on the button " Turn on»

and select from the menu Net» - « Connect to an existing network».

In the window that opens, he needs to enter your network ID and password from it (tell him this data).

After he connects, he needs to copy your IP address from the Hamachi window. To do this, you need to right-click on your login and select " Copy IPv4 address».

After that, to see the copied IP address, paste it into any text editor.

Step 4

Now everything is ready to play Minecraft on Hamachi. Your friend needs to launch the game and connect to you. To do this, through the menu, let him go to " Online game» - « Direct connection” and enter the copied IP address and colon-separated port that was shown in the launcher when creating the local server (instructions). The entry must be in the format IP:port.
