The main advantage of projects of wooden baths with an attic is the availability of additional living quarters without increasing the total area and the beautiful appearance of the building. This is an optimal and practical solution for a large family and for those who like to receive guests.

Baths with an attic: mastering the free space

A bath with a residential attic is chosen by those who understand the benefits of the “two in one” principle. On the first floor there is a bathing complex, on the second ... Yes, anything! Lounges, billiards, library, gym. You can breathe fresh air by going out to the balcony or going down to the spacious gazebo - this is a great place for barbecue. And if you build a bath with a pool, you can get a lot of pleasure from wellness treatments.

Designing baths with an attic

There are a lot of various projects, many beautiful photos are posted on our website and the websites of other developers. Each project has its own specifics, advantages and disadvantages. Someone prefers a spacious guest house with the functionality of a bath, for someone only a small building is acceptable. Make your choice! And first of all from the point of view of functionality. This depends on the layout of the building.

  • How many people will use the country bath? A building with an area of 4x5 or 6x10 can comfortably accommodate the same number of attendants. The main thing is the functionality of its premises. ·
  • Buy a bathhouse with an attic, which will be built according to a standard project, or consider the nuances of an individual approach? Please note that the latter option will cost more. ·
  • Build from a log or timber? Decide based on the type of soil in the suburban area, the method and cost of delivering the material and your financial capabilities. Obviously, a hand-cut bath will cost more than a log bath. ·
  • Prefer an open terrace or veranda? If you do not live in the southern regions of the country, then you will only have the opportunity to use the terrace in the summer months.

When is an attic bath the best option?

In what cases do two-story baths with attics seem to be the most optimal solution?

  • The need to build a spacious bath house with rest rooms on a small plot of land.
  • The desire to have a large bath next to a country house.
  • Organization of business for the provision of recreation, bath services.

The complex landscape relief on the site is another reason to choose a ready-made bath project with an attic. The advantage is that there is no need to level the relief, as if a one-story building with the same functionality was erected, but on a much larger area.

Construction of baths with an attic

The construction of an attic bath is easier, respectively, and the price of a log house is lower than a two-story one, for example. No additional expensive construction work is required, it is enough to equip the existing premises. Simplicity of a design will save your means and time! There is also no need to build a reinforced foundation - the total weight of even a spacious bath house increases slightly.

The shape of the roof is usually gable or broken, which allows you to make the most efficient use of every meter of free space. It requires windows that perform two functions:

  • save artificial lighting
  • serve as a decorative element.

Carefully thought out not only insulation, but also the ventilation system, waterproofing. When it comes to design, for many of our customers there is nothing more attractive than the natural beauty of wood. Therefore, interior decoration is traditionally performed using natural materials. This, by the way, will improve the quality of thermal insulation.

What are the terms for the construction of baths with a residential attic? If the project involves the use of a log or timber as the main material, then the customer receives the log house in finished form, it remains to assemble it. This will only take 10 days.

A good option for customers who prefer the construction of a wooden bath in the shortest possible time can be an inexpensive frame-panel construction. Its advantage is not only construction in the fastest possible time, but also the absence of shrinkage, simplicity of the project, minimal financial investments and economical operation.

Probably everyone wants to take possession of a bathhouse in the house adjoining area. These are water procedures that bring good mood and health, and relaxation. Baths are built from different materials and vary in size. The dimensions depend on the place allocated for it and the budget laid down for the construction. In this article, we will analyze the projects of baths with an attic and a terrace, analyze the layouts, and talk about construction. If the construction of this structure is planned, read to the end, it will be informative and interesting.

A spacious bath with an attic is a place for a large company to relax

The attic is one floor where you can do everything for vacationers (you can see the link). In addition, it becomes possible to unlimitedly change the design of the structure, adjusting it to the styles. There are many ways to build such a bath. You can make a request and view the typical schemes offered by the design bureaus.

Bath project with an attic and a log terrace

Another important difference between such a bath is that it opens access to the second floor. The ladder can take up a lot of space, so you need to place it correctly. However, it must be safe.

The roof of the attic bath will also be different. Very often it is made multi-part, broken, in order to increase the internal space, because the size of the building box remains small.

Advice! All points are decided during the design. The specialist will show you the finished design project so that you can see the appearance of the building even before the start of construction.

Low bath with an attic floor

The type of roof is important for convenience. The shed option is unacceptable, since it will be difficult to put up a ladder and there will be little space in the attic or the walls will have to be raised a lot. better, but the problems remain the same, but to a lesser extent. Hipped roof construction is even better.

Sloped roof side view – more space with less material

Since the baths are small buildings, the choice of stairs will be difficult. It is most convenient and safest to use mid-flight stairs, but they require a lot of space. Usually they are placed along the walls and made swivel.

Double flight staircase with 180 degree turn

You can also consider. It fits in an area of a couple of squares, but it is harder to use. Rest rooms are usually made on the second floor. You need to get there relaxed after a couple and sometimes after a few beers - you don’t want to trip and get injured.

Interesting to know! A spiral staircase is a limited freedom of movement. It is impossible to lift bulky furniture on it. And imagine if you need to make a billiard room upstairs and install a couple of sofas. To do this, everything will have to be disassembled for parts or served with a crane through the windows.

Combined ladder

For these reasons, stairs in small baths are made with winder steps - where possible, direct marches are installed, and where a turn is needed, a helical rise is made. This will preserve the convenience of each type of stairs.

A successful layout of a bath with an attic and a terrace should include the following rooms. First floor:

  • A terrace on which garden furniture can be located, if dimensions allow.
  • Tambour - it is required that the building does not cool down when opening the doors to the street.
  • Pre-bath area - there will be a staircase and here you can put a table and chairs for relaxing after the steam room (which you can find out at the link).
  • The steam room, in which benches fit, a boiler, and there should be room for a bathhouse attendant.
  • The shower room is a place for taking classic water procedures. In large baths, there may also be a small pool for taking a contrast shower.
  • Bathroom.

A project of a house with a bathhouse, an attic and a terrace - on the ground floor there was also enough space for a kitchen

The terrace is often used as a dining area, so they try to leave more space under it so that it is enough for a table and benches. But if there is very little space, then the veranda is sacrificed for the internal convenience of the premises, and on the remaining area they arrange a smoking area.

On the territory of the attic, you are free to do whatever you want. Usually it is taken under a sleeping place, a playing area (billiard room), sometimes a pantry. It will be convenient and logical to make a balcony above the terrace, where you can also relax in the fresh air.

Design project of the first floor of a bathhouse with an attic and a terrace

Bath project with an attic and a terrace

The location of the rooms in the bath will be of the same type, since the purpose of the building requires a sequence of rooms, but the choice remains. Most of all, builders are tied to the area allotted for construction, and then it will determine the main parameters. Let's look at a few successful types of this structure.

Drawing of a bath with an attic and a terrace 4 * 4 and 4 * 5 meters

Since there will be a lot of rooms inside and it is required to put a ladder, 4 meters is considered the minimum possible length and width of such a structure, unless, of course, there is a desire to walk over each other's heads. And then, everything turns out to be truncated. The terrace is executed as an external extension to the main building. The tambour can also be remote, made in the form of a closed unheated porch.

There was not enough space inside for many of the rooms listed earlier. The terrace can only be attached outside. There is also no tambour, which is why the bath will cool faster, but there is nowhere to go when saving space.

The smallest bath with an attic

When you enter, you immediately enter the rest room. Immediately begins the staircase, due to which the usable area is significantly reduced.

Then there is a passage to, from which you can go to the steam room. On the second floor, the layout is not specified, but we suspect that there is one partition and the space is divided into two rooms - common and private.

Interior trim of the dressing room

If you add 1 meter in length, then it can be given to increase the area of the rest room, or already make a small vestibule and even a bathroom. In the diagram below, everything was done according to the first scenario.

Bath 4 * 5 with an attic

The plan differs only in that the staircase is located differently, and the entrance is made from the other side. In the attic we see one large bedroom with two windows.

As you can see, this area is not enough to make a bath with a veranda. Let's analyze more massive types of projects.

Layout options:

Projects of baths 6*4, 5*5, 6*4.5, 6*5 and 6*6 meters

The minimum size of the bath, to include all rooms, should be 6 * 4 meters. This project can be seen in the following figure.

Bath project 6 * 4 meters

And then, there is not enough toilet. However, the presence of a vestibule and a small terrace, in general, makes the structure more convenient and attractive for construction. In fact, the layout has remained the same - which we wrote about earlier (do not expect a huge choice in the placement of premises). Compared to the previous project, the wall is shifted inward by half a meter, and the freed 1.5 meters go under the terrace and vestibule.

Advice! The space under the flight of stairs remains unused; one could try to fit a small bathroom into it.

On the second floor, everything is just as simple. The room can be planned with partitions, as you like.

In the next project (5x5 meters), the developer used a very beneficial technique - he moved the stairs from the rest room straight to the vestibule. Thanks to this, there is more space in the rest room. We also managed to accommodate a small bathroom, which can be accessed straight from the shower.

The terrace is presented in the form of a small porch. It will not be possible to use it as a place to relax if you do not extend it to the entire width of the facade.

This arrangement of the stairs has a serious drawback - the vestibule will be connected directly to the attic, and cold air from the street will penetrate there. To avoid such an effect, the porch must be made closed, but then the length of the structure will already be increased to 6.5 meters.

Drawing of a bath with an attic 5 * 5 meters

A 6x4.5 meter bath project cannot be made as multifunctional, since the absence of these 0.5 meters will not allow you to install a bathroom, or you will have to sacrifice the size of the rest of the rooms, which is unjustified. The following picture shows an example of such a project. There may not be a terrace of 1.5 meters - now we are only looking at the dimensions of the building box, but if you want to make an extension, the width of the bath grows to standard 6 meters.

Bath project 6 * 4.5 meters

Although, if you look closely at the picture, it becomes not entirely clear why the washroom has 5.5 squares of area. You can fit here quite and a small toilet. Or take the space under the stairs for it, because there is a lot of it, since its design is single-flight.

In the next project, all the rooms that are important for us fit in, including the terrace, but there is not enough toilet, although it can be freely placed in the shower room. The size of such a bath is 6x5 meters.

Bath project with an attic 6x5 meters

The layout on this diagram is significantly different from the previous ones.

  1. It all starts with a terrace, which you need to climb a short staircase. Its dimensions are 1.5 * 2.5 meters. Not very much, but a small table and a couple of benches will fit.
  2. Next comes the entrance to the vestibule, in which there is enough space to install a good wardrobe for things.
  3. From the vestibule we get into the rest room. According to the plan, it has 10 squares, however, the staircase takes up quite a lot of space. Again, it is completely incomprehensible why not give this space for a toilet, because anyway it will not be used in any way.
  4. Further, according to the standard, there is a sink and a steam room in succession.

In general, we evaluate this project as very successful for its dimensions. If you make some improvements to it, then it will become almost perfect.

Bath 6x6 with an attic and a terrace, projects

A competent layout of the premises made it possible to make a very large recreation room on the ground floor - as many as 18 squares. However, there is no vestibule on the plan, since the place for it was reserved for the cooking zone.

It is quite possible to add a vestibule if the entrance to the house is moved to the point where the gas stove is located on the drawing. At the same time, the rest room loses its correct shape, but this is not critical. The ladder can be moved to the place of the sofa, which will completely free the far corner, install a large table and benches there.

The terrace has quite a decent area of 6 square meters, but it is elongated and you can’t put anything on it. But there was a new room, which was not there before - a locker room. This is very convenient - you do not have to change clothes in a cold vestibule, a washing room or in a rest room.

The first combined bathroom among the projects we considered. On an area of 3 squares, it was possible to place both a shower and a toilet - convenient and practical (you can find out from the article on our website).

A log bath house with an attic is an attractive solution in terms of its ergonomics, economy and functionality. For example, on the lower tier of such a structure, you can easily equip a rest room, a steam room, a washing room, a bathroom and a utility room, and take the upper one for a full-fledged temporary or even permanent residence.

Next, you are invited to familiarize yourself with the most successful and popular finished projects of the building in question, as well as study the key information regarding the design of its main structural elements.

If desired, this project can also be adapted for buildings with more modest dimensions, for example, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, etc.

A universal option, for the placement of which there is enough space even on a fairly modest area. In a closed veranda, you can equip an entrance hall with a staircase to the attic floor. This allows you to isolate the tiers of the structure, which is very convenient.

If the house is planned to be used for living, it is recommended to increase the height of the first floor to 250 cm - this will be more comfortable. At the request of the owner, the recreation room can be made in a round log - it looks very attractive and does not require subsequent clapboard lining, but it somewhat increases the cost of the project, because. requirements for the aesthetic qualities of logs are increasing significantly.

The following drawings show layout options for the first floor, attic floor, as well as a frontal view of the building.

Note! As an example, the drawings show dimensional grids for a 6x6 m building. The developer can independently proportionally change the dimensions of each room until a suitable area is obtained, or exclude rooms that he does not need.

Great option for a small area. The structure is both compact and functional.

Useful advice! To make the attic more spacious, it is recommended to equip the building with a gable roof.

Partitions in such a structure are erected using standard frame technology. For sheathing, high-quality lining is used.

In the following images you can see an approximate plan of the first and attic floors of such a bath. On the first tier there is a vestibule, a dressing room, a steam room, a washing room, a relaxation room and a spacious living room. From the last staircase leads to the attic floor, where another lounge and a billiard room await the residents of the house (if desired, you can replace it with any other room). For greater convenience, the layout of the house includes a veranda.

An approximate plan of the first and attic floors of such a bath

In this project, there is no veranda, but there is a balcony. The roof is still recommended to be made gable, it can be broken or even hip. Interior partitions are best equipped in accordance with frame-panel technology.

On the ground floor there is a vestibule, a steam room with accompanying rooms and a lounge, on the attic floor there is another lounge, a bedroom and a balcony.

The proposed project, if desired, can be adapted for permanent residence by equipping a kitchen, for example, instead of a vestibule on the ground floor or in another suitable place. The available space is quite enough for a small family of 2-3 people.

Compact and neat house-bath with a swimming pool. In general, it is intended for recreation, but if desired, without any problems it can be converted into a building suitable for permanent residence of a small family.

On the ground floor you can relax in the steam room. In addition to the services of visitors: a swimming pool, a bathroom, a shower and, of course, a relaxation room. On the attic floor, it is proposed to equip 2 bedrooms and a small hall.

A full-fledged spacious cottage with a very interesting and somewhat complex facade architecture. In such a house you can live throughout the year.

On the first floor there are the following rooms:

  • garage extension, designed for one car;
  • bathhouse with all accompanying premises;
  • vestibule and furnace;
  • kitchen;
  • bathroom;
  • living room;
  • verandas.

On the attic floor, the owner is waiting for 2 bedrooms and the same number of bathrooms, a spacious hall, dressing rooms and balconies. At the request of the owner, a basement floor, consisting mainly of technical rooms, can be equipped. Its optimal layout is also given in the project.

You were offered the most popular and rational projects - from a compact house with a steam room to a full-fledged cottage suitable for permanent residence. If you wish, you can take these projects as a basis, changing the given dimensions, the location of the rooms, or even combining different ideas at your discretion.

The procedure for self-designing a bath

Choosing a place for construction

Before proceeding with the preparation of the project, the purchase of the necessary materials and the construction work itself, you need to choose a suitable place for the construction of such an interesting and functional building as a bath house with an attic.

If the site has already been acquired or obtained in another way and there is no particular choice, we immediately proceed to the study of information regarding the requirements of SNiP, fire safety and other regulatory documentation.

If there is, “where to roam”, we will delve into the study of the issue more seriously. First of all, a bathhouse should be built where it will be convenient to use it, because it is assumed that here people will not only bathe, but also live, moreover, it is possible that for a long time. Along with this, everything should be planned so that the “I want” and “I can” of the owner are organically combined into a single picture.

When choosing the location of the future building, you need to take into account a number of important features, such as: the relief of the site, fire and key sanitary requirements, the nuances of placing other buildings on the territory, etc.

The best place for a bath house is the shore of some beautiful and clean natural reservoir. If this is not possible, do not be discouraged - no one will prevent you from building an excellent pool on your own in the future.

For the sake of convenience and economy, it is recommended to build a bathhouse on a hill - this will make it possible to equip a sewerage system, the drains from which will be discharged naturally using the existing slope, which will further save.

With regard to the requirements of the relevant regulatory documentation (SNiP), the following distances must be maintained between the bathhouse and other objects on the site:

  • from another residential building, if any - from 3 m;
  • from buildings intended for keeping poultry and livestock - at least 4 m;
  • from other buildings - from 1 m;
  • from shrubs - 1 m;
  • from trees of medium height - at least 2 m (meaning the distance to the trunks);
  • from tall trees - from 4 m.

Foundation design

Foundation works are carried out in a standard manner. Information about this is given in the following table.

Table. The procedure for arranging the foundation

Stage of workIllustration

Several types of foundations are suitable for use in combination with a bath house. When choosing a specific option, it is necessary to take into account a number of significant indicators, including: the level of groundwater passage, soil features, dimensions and weight of the finished building, etc. You are invited to familiarize yourself with the features of the existing varieties of supporting structures below.

Table. Types of foundations for a log bath

Base typeShort descriptionIllustration
One of the more popular options. It is mainly used in combination with small buildings of a simple design.

It is used in the case of the construction of small buildings on non-clay or loamy soils, provided that the groundwater is relatively deep. The base is equipped with monolithic concrete or brick pillars. Supports must be installed in the corners of the future building and at the junction of walls and partitions. For greater reliability, intermediate supports can be installed between the main pillars. The step of arranging the pillars is up to 200 cm.

Actively gaining popularity in private construction. Suitable for situations where a bathhouse is being built on a site with a high level of groundwater and / or loose earth.
Screw pile foundations allow you to build various kinds of buildings in difficult areas, for example, on hillsides.
The pile is represented by a steel pipe, one end of which is pointed, and the other is equipped with a welded blade, which makes it easier and faster to bury the element into the soil and ensure its fixation.

It is based on the screw foundation discussed above. Additionally, the piles are tied with a wooden beam, channel bar or I-beam. Such hardening allows the construction of various kinds of buildings even in areas with peat bogs and quicksand.

At the same time, it is the most reliable and versatile base. Suitable for use in areas with any type of soil and level of groundwater passage. The design is a monolithic concrete slab with reinforcement.

Log house design

A log is an affordable, easy-to-handle and lay material. Along with this, the successful construction of a log cabin will be truly successful, economical and competent only if all the subtleties of this event are observed. They proceed to the laying of the log house after the foundation has fully set the required strength. On average, it takes 1 month.

First of all, you need to choose the right material for construction. For example, pine is characterized by high thermal insulation properties, spruce practically does not rot, and fir endures contact with fungi and is generally characterized by very high strength characteristics. With regard to a particular material, the owner will have to make a choice on his own, taking into account the climatic features of his place of residence, key building requirements, personal preferences and the available budget.

When choosing a log, carefully examine the condition of its end face. It is important that the cut does not have spots, the material itself is solid, and the shade of the core is as even as possible and slightly darker than the remaining circle. Branches should be as small as possible. The presence of gaps is a direct contraindication to the use of such wood - it has begun to rot, and a high-quality log house cannot be made from it.

Logs purchased and delivered to the site are debarked if this has not been done by the seller / harvester. For laying the first crown, the most powerful logs are selected. An excellent option is larch.

Important! Larch is a very durable material, but it is suitable only for the construction of the 1st and 2nd crowns, because. When heated, this wood gives off an unpleasant odor.

The main part of the log house is traditionally built from pine, fir or spruce. There are usually no problems with the design of walls - the main parameters of these elements are the width, height and thickness, initially laid down in the design documentation and determined mainly by the preferences of the owner and the dimensions of the construction site. A much more important point is the connection of logs in crowns, i.e. cutting method. You can find the most popular methods in the following table.

Table. Methods for joining logs in crowns

Cutting methodsShort descriptionIllustrations
"In the corner" and "with the rest"The use of these methods contributes to a significant increase in the stability and strength of the finished structure, as well as an increase in its thermal insulation properties, however, the final consumption of building material increases compared to other existing methods.
When building a bath house using these cutting methods, it is better to place the bowl down - this way the log house will be additionally protected from moisture penetration.

"In the cloud"If the cutting “into the oblo” will be carried out with the bowl placed upwards, the roof overhangs must be lengthened, and the structure itself must be made of the highest quality.
To further strengthen the structure, the logs are strengthened through the use of a straight tenon. Finished corners are sheathed with boards, which ensures their protection from decay.

A relatively complex method that requires the performer to have the appropriate experience and skill.
When using this method, additional thermal insulation of the corners is performed. The traditional option is closure with insulation and sheathing with boards.
"Paw" is equipped with a hidden spike. Its length should correspond to approximately 1/3 of the width of the paw. Thanks to this addition, the connection will not “crawl”.

The presence of an attic floor involves the arrangement of a gable or more complex roof structure, for example, a special attic or even hip. Most often in independent construction, gable roofs are used, which are equipped on the basis of hanging rafters. One end of such a rafter rests on a floor beam or external wall. The installation step of the rafters is up to 1.2 m.

To fasten individual elements, a special wire is used (in addition, at the top joint, the rafters can be connected with a bar / plank) or simply nails, if the rafter system is equipped with boards. For the manufacture of supporting elements, boards can also be used, the thickness of which can vary between 4-18 cm, depending on the expected load. Additionally, the rafters are fastened diagonally from each slope using 3-4 cm boards.

As an example, drawings of a mansard roof are given, indicating the optimal configuration and dimensions:

As a finishing roofing material, you can use ondulin, soft or metal tiles, as well as other coating options at the discretion of the owner.

The standard procedure for arranging the truss system is shown in the following table.

Table. Installation of the truss system

Stage of workIllustrations

Insulation design

By default, the bath house is subject to high-quality thermal insulation, the initial stage of which is caulking. Primary caulking is performed even in the process of building a log house by laying interventional insulation (usually jute or moss):

Finishing caulking is carried out after the shrinkage of the building - on average, six months after the completion of construction.

Caulking is carried out along the perimeter of the walls. Each slot is sequentially filled with the selected material from bottom to top. There are 2 main methods of caulking. Information about each of them is given in the following table.

Table. Caulking methods

WayIllustrationShort description

A strand of sealant is attached to the groove, after which it is thoroughly pressed and compacted. A roller is twisted from the tow, which is inserted into the groove and carefully driven in.

Suitable for sealing wide gaps. First, the tow is formed into strands, which are gathered into a ball. The resulting loops are hammered into the grooves. This method allows you to effectively select the thickness of the material in accordance with the dimensions of the groove.

Thermal insulation of floors, roof slopes, internal partitions and ceilings is traditionally performed using non-combustible mineral wool insulation. Slabs with dimensions of 0.6x1 m are used as standard - this option is the most convenient. If necessary, the plates/roll can be independently cut into elements of the desired size. The recommended thickness of the heat-insulating layer is 150 mm. With such insulation, the bath will not freeze even in the most severe frosts.

Insulation schemes for various building elements are presented in the following table.

Table. Insulation schemes

In combination with thermal insulation, hydro and vapor barrier materials are used. The features of their arrangement in each case are presented in the above diagrams.

The lathing is one of the main structural elements of the roof - without it, it is simply impossible to lay the finish coating. The elements of the crate are placed on the rafters. The type of construction is determined, firstly, by the parameters of the roof, and secondly, by the properties of the selected finishing material.

Traditionally, a beam, board or tes is used to equip the crate. The material can be laid closely or with gaps, depending on the characteristics of the chosen topcoat. Usually, first, the bars are laid on the rafters, and then the boardwalk is carried out.

The step of the crate is selected in accordance with the characteristics of the finishing material. For example, a crate for an ordinary metal tile is nailed to the base with a 35-centimeter step. The slats of the counter-lattice are attached to the crate, and the finishing material is already attached to it. Thanks to the counter-lattice mounted along the rafters, the required ventilation gap is provided. Also, the laths of the counter-lattice press the underlying protective film material.

Roof design

Work on the arrangement of the finishing roofing material is standardly performed in the following sequence:

  • the coverage area is measured and the required amount of material is determined;
  • installation of the finishing coating is carried out in accordance with the technology;
  • shaped elements are installed;
  • the necessary finishing work is carried out in relation to the cornice overhangs;
  • snow guards are mounted;
  • attic windows are installed.

The modern market offers a huge range of finishing roofing materials. Information about the finishes most often used in the arrangement of the bath house is given in the following table.

Table. Roofing materials

MaterialShort descriptionIllustration
The material is made in the form of flexible corrugated sheets. It is based on cellulose fibers and impregnation, traditionally performed using bitumen.
The key advantage of the material is the relatively affordable cost.

Sheet material based on steel. Due to the complex embossed surface, high transverse rigidity of the sheets is ensured and, consequently, excellent bearing capacity.

Durable material with excellent aesthetic properties. The main disadvantage of the coating is that during rain it creates a rather noticeable noise, stronger than other popular roofing coatings.

The material is characterized by high strength, ductility and deformation resistance.

floor design

The procedure for arranging the floor remains standard in all situations and includes the following steps:

  • arrangement of the subfloor;
  • installation of hydro, heat and vapor barrier materials;
  • laying of a finishing flooring;
  • finishing with finishing material at the discretion of the owner.

The floor pie looks like this:

Along with this, the procedure for arranging the floor directly in the bath has a number of important differences, each of which must be taken into account at the stage of drafting the project.

Work on flooring begins after the arrangement of drainage and the completion of the foundation of the sauna stove. It is important that the blower of the stove-heater is located below the floor level of the steam room - this will ensure the necessary ventilation of the underground space. The floor in the steam room is made higher than in the washing room - by an average of 15 cm. In turn, the floor in the washing room should be about 3 cm lower than the floor in the locker room.

Arrangement of floors in the dressing room and steam room is carried out in compliance with the slope in the direction of the drain - this will ensure more efficient drainage of water. For the arrangement of the structure, boards with a minimal tendency to rot are traditionally used. Boards are laid with a gap.

For flooring, a cut or tongue-and-groove board is used. The boards are fastened to pre-mounted and antiseptic-impregnated logs. The logs are directly installed on brick posts or other supports provided for by a specific project.

Prices for grooved boards

grooved board

The hole for draining water is equipped with a siphon. Thanks to this element, the likelihood of drafts in the steam room will be eliminated and the penetration of unpleasant odors into the room will be prevented.

The most popular options for the design of the floor in the steam room are presented in the following images:

In some cases, developers prefer the leaky floor structure shown in the following image:

When arranging such a floor, the boards are not rigidly fastened, which makes it possible, if necessary, to take them out of the room for drying. Between the lags and the boards, rubber gaskets must be arranged.

Important! The moisture content of the wood used for flooring in the bath should not exceed 12%, otherwise, after a short time after the start of operation of the room for its intended purpose, cracks form in the floor.

The ceiling of any room, whether it is directly a steam room or any other room of a house-bath being built, is a multilayer structure. The composition of such a "pie" is shown in the following image:

The standard ceiling height in residential premises is 2.5-2.7 m, on the attic floor - about 2.2 m. In general, these values can be adjusted by the owner at his discretion.

Special consideration deserve the features of the arrangement of the ceiling in the steam room. Its height in this room is rarely made more than 2-2.1 m - this is the best option that provides normal energy efficiency indicators for the operation of the steam room and the necessary comfort for its visitors.

The main elements of the ceiling in the steam room are beams and stripes. Additionally, when creating this design, a flooring (also known as a roll-up) is mounted, the arrangement of which is carried out with the laying of heat-insulating material.

Ceiling beams are traditionally made of coniferous timber. Usually the beams are cut either into the upper crown or into the upper trim of the main structure. The beams located next to the chimney are separated from the mentioned structure with the help of bricks for the purpose of fire safety.

For filing the ceiling, a planed board with a thickness of 20-30 mm is usually used. The thickness of the heat-insulating layer is selected taking into account the climatic features of the region and the characteristics of the structure, and can vary from 50 to 200 mm.

Important! Any wooden elements before arrangement must be treated with antiseptic impregnation.

Wall design

The construction of the walls of the house-bath can be single-layer or multi-layer. Regardless of the material of manufacture of partitions, finished walls must provide sufficient indicators of thermal insulation and tightness of the room, while guaranteeing the required air exchange and eliminating excessive heat loss.

The composition of a standard "pie" of external walls and internal partitions is shown in the following images:

The internal cladding of bath walls is traditionally performed using lining made of coniferous wood.

Directly the construction of log walls is carried out using round logs with a diameter of 20-24 cm. The elements are stacked with crowns. In order to improve the thermal insulation characteristics of the building, log walls are often sheathed with planed boards. Both one- and two-sided sheathing is allowed. Also, internal partitions are often erected in accordance with frame or frame-panel technology:

Important! It is allowed to start finishing work only after the settlement of the structure. Otherwise, the lining may be damaged.

Design of water supply and sewerage

The best option for bath water supply is from a well. The layout of such a system is shown in the following image:

Also very effective is the option of water supply from a well, presented in the following images:

The water supply project for the bathroom / washing room is as follows:

The simplest option for diverting sewage is to a drainage well:

Steam room design

If the choice of dimensions and accompanying characteristics of other rooms of the bath house remains primarily at the discretion of the owner, then the design of the steam room must be carried out in compliance with a number of important rules and recommendations.

First of all, think about how many people will use the designed steam room at the same time. Based on this indicator, you can determine the optimal area of the premises, guided by the provisions of the following table.

Traditionally, the steam room consists of 3 main functional rooms. A variant of the standard layout of a small 4x4 bath is shown in the image:

Information for each room is shown in the following table.

Table. Steam room

IllustrationroomDescription

Here people change clothes, store firewood, brooms and other accessories. Often, armchairs and a table are installed in the dressing room, equipping it as a rest room. If there is enough free space, the dressing room can be equipped with musical equipment and a TV.

The minimum allowable area of the dressing room is from 1.3 m2 per visitor. In addition to the minimum dimensions, the space occupied by various furnishings is added.

For greater ease of use, it is recommended to equip the dressing room with an adjustable window.

The door separating the steam room and the dressing room should open towards the latter.

The purpose of the room becomes clear from its name. As a rule, both cold and hot water are supplied to the washing room. To heat water, an electric boiler, a sauna stove, or other available methods can be used.

The size of the washing room should be such that each visitor has at least 1-1.2 m2 of free space.

The room can be equipped with a simple pouring tray, a full shower or even a bathtub. These points are at the discretion of the owners.

If the bath house is planned to be used for living, a washing machine can be installed in the washing machine.

The dimensions of this room depend on many related indicators, including:
- dimensions of the furnace unit;
- distance between the furnace and the nearest objects;
- the planned number of visitors;
- the number of shelves to be installed, etc.

In accordance with current regulations, each visitor to the steam room must have at least 1 m2 of free space if the person is in a sitting position. This 1 m2 does not include the space occupied by the stove, the width of the aisles, various fire gaps, etc.

  • for lying: width - 0.9-1 m, length - 1.8-2 m;
  • for sitting - width: 0.4-0.5 m, length - according to the size of the steam room.

The bottom shelf is usually made the narrowest. The project must be drawn up so that at least 1 m of free space remains between the ceiling and the top shelf. A 35-50 cm gap is maintained directly between the shelves. In general, the given dimensions can be changed by the owner at his discretion. The main thing is that as a result it is convenient for him to use the shelves, and at the same time elementary safety requirements are observed.

With regard to lighting, the devices must be, firstly, designed for use in such operating conditions, and secondly, installed at such a level that the light does not “hit the eyes” of visitors.

In general, the dimensions of the steam room can be very diverse. The most popular options are shown in the following table.

Sauna stove design

The traditional option is a stove-heater. If desired, the owner can either purchase a ready-made version or make a simple oven with his own hands, choosing one of the appropriate instructions. Some of the most popular options for sauna stoves are shown in the following images:

The stove-heater is equipped on its own foundation with a depth of up to 0.5 m in relation to the floor of the bath. The foundation, as a rule, is constructed from rubble stone and concrete. On top of the frozen base, waterproofing and a series of bricks are laid, after which the furnace is installed / laid out directly.

A sheet of non-combustible material must be laid on the floor in front of the stove. Usually this is a 1 cm steel sheet. All flammable objects must be at least 30-50 cm away from the heating elements of the stove.

Wiring design

The arrangement of electrical wiring is an extremely important and responsible event that requires a qualified approach. The key requirements for the rules for arranging electrical wiring in the bath are shown in the following image:

It is important to understand that wooden houses are the most vulnerable when laying electrical wiring, because. wood is flammable and supports combustion. In view of this, the laying of cables and the installation of all related elements must be carried out in compliance with a number of important rules.

Firstly, the supply voltage is conducted exclusively through residual current devices and circuit breakers. For arranging wiring, it is best to use a 3x2.5 copper cable in a special sheath that prevents the spread of combustion.

Secondly, the installation of the shield, junction boxes and switches is carried out strictly in the dressing room.

Thirdly, the rules for laying wires through walls must be observed: a hole is drilled directly in the center of the log, after which a half-inch pipe made of steel is inserted there.

Directly wiring in the steam room is laid in corrugated tubes. Special non-combustible pipes made of plastic and metal are also suitable for this.

In a wooden steam room, the wiring is made strictly open, preferably through the attic. Electrical wires are connected exclusively by terminals. It is forbidden to twist them. The use of vinyl and rubber braid is unacceptable.

Lighting devices must be made in a metal case. The permitted material for the manufacture of the ceiling is glass.

The 220 W transformer, connected to the supply voltage, is installed strictly in a dry room. Only 12 W (or 42 W, if 36-volt bulbs) is allowed to pass through the wall to the washing room and directly to the steam room. Installation of any sockets in the mentioned rooms is unacceptable.

The heating tank is connected strictly on an individual wire, the washing machine too. If it is planned to connect the washing machine to a power outlet, the installation of this piece of household appliances should be carried out exclusively in a dry room.

A ground loop is laid around the building. The shield is equipped with an RCD.

The benefits of bathing have been known since ancient times. Since then, each nation has developed its own, hotly revered bathing tradition, and in Russia baths were a familiar sign of the rural landscape. Modern country life is also hard to imagine without the joy of visiting a bath. On the garden plot you can see both the sauna that has become familiar and the more exotic hammam. But, despite the familiarity with the customs of other cultures, the majority prefers the traditional Russian bath.

To please themselves with a good rest and increase their health, the owners build baths of various designs and materials. Practical owners strive to build a multifunctional bath, which could become not only a decoration of the site and a health center, but also perform additional functions. More than others, baths made of timber with an attic are suitable for this.

Material selection

A bath with an attic and a terrace is built, as a rule, from wood, the most common options are:

    Log baths. Traditionally, baths (and other buildings) in Russia were built from chopped logs, the most accessible material. Such designs exist even now, but they are not very common due to their features: laborious manual processing of logs, the high cost of high-quality logs, long shrinkage and significant shrinkage. Nevertheless, projects of baths with an attic made of this material are presented in a wide range. A steam room made of hand-crafted logs will be of higher quality compared to a building made of rounded logs (which, however, depends on the skill of the hired carpenters), but will cost 40-50% more.

    Panel (frame) baths. They are valued for the speed of assembly and economy during construction - they do not need a massive foundation. But such a building needs high-quality insulation and finishing, the costs of which can offset the savings. Therefore, it is necessary to study well before choosing a house-bath from a bar, projects and prices - with all the details.

    Baths from a glued bar. The main advantage of the material is minimal shrinkage, which allows you not to tighten using the bath for its intended purpose. The order of such a bath with a turnkey attic is carried out in the shortest possible time.

    Baths from the pro-thinned-out bar. The construction pleases the eye with the impeccable form of the facade; at the same time, a bar of natural moisture has its own characteristics. It can significantly deform when dried, become covered with cracks, and the shrinkage of the box for the first year will be 10-15%. Chamber-drying timber is more expensive (at a price close to round logs), but the risk of deformation is minimized, and shrinkage does not exceed 3-6%. This makes chamber drying lumber one of the most practical materials for building a bath.

Advantages and disadvantages of a bath with an attic

For such baths, instead of the usual attic, an attic floor is designed - a full-fledged living room with insulation and characteristic sloping walls. Such living space is interesting from the point of view of emerging prospects, including:

    Additional square meters. The most obvious plus, allowing you to use the room for different purposes. A 5 by 5 bath with an attic can become a multifunctional building. In addition, the room will be 30-35% cheaper than a similar one in a residential building, but will be just as comfortable. The mansard (broken) roof, thanks to the vertical side gables, allows you to maximize the use of the area. A hip or gable roof is less profitable, because, due to the design features, it reduces usable space.

    Saving land. A bath from a bar with an attic is a profitable solution if the site is of modest size, and the owners have big plans for its arrangement. Saved space can always be put to good use.

    Multifunctionality. With the acquisition of the attic, the possibilities of using the bath are greatly expanded. The owners can arrange a sports hall here (which would otherwise remain in dreams), a cinema hall, equip a recreation area with a billiard table and a mini-bar. For some, it is more important to organize a guest room or a home spa. A bathhouse with an attic and a terrace will also expand the opportunities for outdoor recreation.

    Originality. Historically, the design of the attic floor with a sloping ceiling line in itself evokes romantic thoughts about the bohemian lifestyle; therefore, it is especially pleasant to relax and communicate here. The unusual situation can be emphasized by decorating the attic in the appropriate style. Luxurious oriental motifs, airy Provence with wicker furniture or the atmosphere of a closed yacht club look impressive. The effect is enhanced by windows installed in the roof, a podium instead of a bed and light through shelving. If the choice fell on a house-bath, projects with an attic are the most rational solution.

On our website you can get acquainted with the most popular projects of baths from construction companies presented at the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

Projects of baths with an attic also have some disadvantages:

    The question of isolation. The upper floor of the bath house with an attic needs careful protection from moisture, which is provided by a vapor barrier layer in the ceiling. The interlayer will preserve the thermal insulation and the building structure, preventing the development of mold fungi and microorganisms hazardous to health.

    The issue of insulation. If you plan to use the attic floor year-round, it will have to be thoroughly insulated.

    The question of complexity of construction. The steeper the roof slopes, the more usable area under it. The best option would be a broken (mansard) roof, but it will cost more.

Bath with an attic: features of projects and layouts

In modest baths (3x4 or 4x4 m), it is unprofitable to arrange an attic floor; expansion is suitable for them due to the arrangement of a terrace or veranda. However, baths with an attic and a veranda are of particular interest. You can save money on construction if the bath has dimensions of 6x4, 6x6, 6x8 m and more. In this case, the total area can reach 60-80 m 2, and the project provides for:

    On the first floor: open terrace, entrance hall, dressing room (lounge), washing room and steam room. It is more convenient to place a ladder for climbing to the second floor in the hallway so as not to clutter up other rooms.

    On the attic floor: entrance hall, lounge (or room with other purpose), pantry.

    Balcony. A 6x6 project (and more) may include a balcony. Many homeowners love the idea of a summer getaway space with leisurely al fresco tea drinking.

On our site you can find contacts of construction companies that offer the service of designing and building a bath. You can directly communicate with representatives by visiting the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

The most popular option is a 6x6 bath with a turnkey attic, which is inexpensive and allows you to comfortably accommodate a family or a noisy friendly company. The device of the bath can vary from project to project, for example, a dressing room is often combined with a relaxation room (if the attic is intended for other purposes). The rest of the rooms are equipped as follows:

    Dressing room. It can be allocated a small auxiliary room, which can be used as a dressing room and / or storage for firewood.

    Steam room. A two-tiered shelf and a sauna stove of a suitable size are arranged here. Windows are traditionally made small.

    Washing. Usually a shower tray is installed, a wooden (from oak, larch or cedar) or plastic (with an antibacterial coating) font.

Steam room in a log bath Source giropark.ru

    Restroom. For complete relaxation, a wooden floor, soft diffused light, comfortable furniture and pastel colors are the best fit.

    Bathroom. The modern requirement for comfort; for a full-fledged bathroom, 1.5-2 m 2 is enough.

    Swimming pool. The dream of many bath owners. Rejecting the terrace and slightly reducing the area of the other rooms, you can treat yourself to such luxury.

    Terrace. If it is glazed, it can be used to relax in the rainy and cold season. Lanterns look good here as a decorative element.

Attic floor: construction features

A bath with a turnkey attic will cost inexpensively compared to a full-fledged two-story structure. Customers are attracted by the opportunity to save money without losing convenience and functionality. Best of all, when an additional floor is planned during design, then the calculation of the supporting structures will be as accurate as possible. Otherwise, inevitable difficulties will arise with the addition of a staircase (most likely, a screw model will be successful) and windows (in some types of roofs it is inconvenient to mount windows).

Staircase to the attic

Owners who build an attic bath on their own often fall into two extremes when building stairs. It turns out either prohibitively large, and then eats up precious space, or (with the best of intentions) prohibitively steep. The descent along such a structure turns into an amusing, but injury-prone attraction. And if the exit point of the stairs rests on a sloping wall, then you should take care of your head.

There are several ways to make a staircase not only functional, but also a convenient (and preferably beautiful) interior detail. Of the variety of stairs that exist in nature for a bath, the following options are familiar:

    Marching staircase. Depending on the allocated area, it can be one- or two-march. Such designs are the most familiar, easy to manufacture and therefore the most common. There are marching stairs on stringers, on bowstrings or bolts; the main thing for them is the correct calculation of the parameters of the steps and the distances between them.

Classic two-flight staircase Source beautycontraception.ru

    Spiral staircase. A winning option for a bath, as it takes up a small area, costs less and looks very impressive. Compared to the sustainer, the screw design has a steeper angle of elevation and a smaller width of steps, which is potentially more traumatic.

The recent trend has been the construction of a wooden single-flight staircase with a steep angle (35-45 °) and proportions tied to the average step length. This option, borrowed from the construction techniques of the Scandinavian countries, allows you to make the stairs to the attic as convenient and safe as possible.

Communications

The classical Russian banya had no communications and, like all medieval buildings, was heated in a black way. Firewood was brought from a nearby forest, and water was taken from a river or a well. Modern house-bath - projects with an attic and ordinary steam rooms are connected to all communications, which allow you to enjoy the process in comfortable conditions. All necessary networks are provided at the design stage and include:

    Water supply. The source can be a centralized or autonomous system, a well or a well. Sometimes a large storage tank is installed.

    Electricity. Electricity is used for more than just lighting. It feeds a boiler, a pump (if the water supply comes from a well), an electric furnace and household appliances, from a kettle to a TV. In modern projects, a warm floor is often arranged.

The forced ventilation system also runs on electricity. Source banyabest.ru

    Gas. Instead of an electric boiler, you can install a gas boiler. Water heating will be more economical, but you will need to invite a specialist to install the boiler.

    Sewerage and drainage system. If there is no central system, a septic tank is used to drain.

    Ventilation. A system that increases the life of the building and maintains the necessary sanitary standards; can be natural (through an open window, which is often not enough) and forced. Ventilation is needed not only in the steam room, where steam, carbon monoxide from the stove and carbon dioxide exhaled by people accumulate. Air circulation is important both in the relaxation room and in the washing room with a shower.

    Heating. A properly designed and built bath allows you to refuse additional heating, limiting yourself to the heat of a brick or cast-iron stove. If desired, in the winter, you can use additional funds. The simplest and most effective will be an electric heater. You can also use radiators, underfloor heating (water or electric), gas and electric convectors.

Baths with an attic: standard and individual projects

To build a bathhouse, the owner of a suburban area does not need to rack his brains, inventing the outlines and arrangement of a future building, choosing and purchasing materials, raising walls and laying engineering communications. A specialized construction company will help you choose the right project, competently carry out all the work and save the owner time, nerves and finances.

Typical design of a bath with an attic and a terrace Source rozarii.ru

Companies offer baths with a turnkey log attic, projects and prices of which are oriented to a wide variety of tastes. The choice of a standard project allows you to immediately begin construction and after a few months (if the bath is made of glued or dry profiled timber) to try out the bath in action. An individual project will require an architect's consultation and additional development time (and money). The decision to build a bathhouse with a turnkey attic has several important advantages:

    bath will be built on the site of any complexity.

    You will get a bath within the period specified in the contract.

    The design will reliable and durable, because the builders have extensive experience and use proven assembly technology.

When ordering a project, you can often get special offer: free antiseptic treatment of the subfloor and lower crown, a brick shield for the stove or a metal door as a gift.

Many organizations allow some changes in standard projects(changing the location of doors and windows) at no extra charge.

The most popular solution for a large family or a friendly company is a 5x5 and 6x6 m bath project. A steam room in such projects is designed for 4-5 people, and a rest room for 7-8. An additional plus is that it is easier for a square building to find a place on the site, and the attic allows you to get a comfortable multifunctional place without taking up valuable land.

Baths with a turnkey attic: issue price

The opportunity to get "two in one" - a full-fledged living space that can be used at your discretion, and a bathhouse made according to Russian traditions, attracts more and more people. Such buildings are distinguished by a convenient layout and high performance; choosing the right project from a wide range is not difficult. Prices for log baths with an attic in the Moscow region look like:

    Baths 4x6 m: from 245-260 thousand rubles.

    Baths 5x5 m: from 265-270 thousand rubles.

    Baths 6x5 m: from 280-295 thousand rubles.

    Baths 6x6 m: from 320-350 thousand rubles.

Conclusion

For most people, a bath is the most affordable and enjoyable way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life, chat with friends and join the healing procedures proven by thousands of years of experience of their ancestors. Such a vacation will be especially successful if the log bath is with an attic. Guests staying over the weekend will appreciate the enhanced features provided by this design.

For a full life in a country house with all the amenities and pleasures, it is necessary to place many important elements on the site, including various landscape design zones and useful additional buildings. This can be achieved by increasing the functionality of buildings. So, for example, an ordinary wooden bath can have minimal dimensions and maximum functionality due to the second attic floor. In this article we will talk about how convenient a 6 by 6 bath with an attic is, what material to choose for its construction, what are the stages of its construction, what are the design solutions for such buildings and what are.

Source moya-banya.ru

Advantages of a bath with an attic

The main advantage of a two-level bath is that it saves space on the site. If, for example, homeowners wish to have a spacious bath with a comfortable lounge area, they can achieve this by allocating a minimum building footprint. At the same time, the recreation area is partially or completely assigned to the attic part of the building.

Often baths with attics are built in order not to build any object separately. For example, in the attic of the bath can be located:

    summer cuisine;

    workshop;

    guest house;

    billiard room;

    winter garden, etc.

The attic above the bath can be designed as a veranda with wide glazing, in which case it will serve as a gazebo. Sometimes the upper level of a bathhouse or garage is equipped as a separate dwelling for one of the family members.

Source m.101hotels.ru

Having two objects under one roof, you can save a lot of money on construction, communications, heating and maintenance of premises.

Another important advantage is that attic baths built of timber or logs look much more spectacular than single-story ones. High pitched roofs give them an elegant silhouette. A beautiful bath building with an attic can become a stylish center of landscape design composition on the site.

materials

The operational specificity of the bath requires the use of materials with certain characteristics for its construction, the main of which is environmental friendliness. The walls of the bath should not emit harmful substances even in conditions of high humidity and sudden changes in temperature. They should not be deformed or destroyed under these conditions. In addition, for a bath it is very difficult to choose the option of exterior and interior decoration. Therefore, it is better to build it from materials that do not need cladding.

Source domato.ru

All these conditions are met by modern construction wood. It is made using advanced technologies, resulting in a material ideal for the construction of bath complexes. Today, you can quickly and relatively inexpensively build a bath from a log or timber made from coniferous wood (cedar, fir, larch, pine), or hardwood (linden, aspen, birch, oak).

On our site you can find contacts of construction companies that offer design services for small architectural forms: gazebos, grill houses, etc. You can directly communicate with representatives by visiting the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

Log bath

A log is a building material that is in great demand today. According to the type of processing is divided into several varieties. Here are the main ones.

Planed. This type of log is made by processing with an electric planer. In this case, an insignificant layer of wood is removed, and the fiber system remains intact, which provides the material with high performance properties. However, the shape of a planed log is not ideal, but conical - like the natural shape of a tree trunk.

Source tdsl.ru

Rounded. During the manufacture of such a log, a significant part of the upper layer is sawn off on the machine in order to give the log a regular cylindrical shape. As a result, the characteristics of the material are somewhat reduced, but it becomes as convenient as possible for construction.

Scraped. This processing option involves the removal of a minimum layer of bark. Scraped wood retains its natural resinity, making it as durable as possible. But in form it is not perfect, and it is difficult to lay walls out of it without noticeable gaps between the crowns.

Usually, rounded material is chosen for the construction of a bath, which makes it possible to make very high-quality log cabins without cracks and gaps. There is an opinion that it is better for a bath to choose wood of natural moisture, and not dried. But not all experts agree with this opinion. In any case, the purchase of a log should be trusted by professional builders who have experience in choosing high-quality wood.

Source stroyres.net

The peculiarity of a log bath is that it shrinks, and it is possible to start using it only one year after the end of construction. After all the walls are laid out, the log cabin needs to be sanded and caulked several times.

Bath from a bar

In the manufacture of a bar from an ordinary log, by sawing, wood of a square or rectangular section is obtained. The beam is also of several types.

Classic unprofiled. An ordinary beam with smooth edges carved from solid wood.

profiled. The edges of such a bar have special grooves (ridges) for the most accurate connection of the bars to each other.

Glued beam. In its manufacture, several thin lamellae are folded and glued under pressure. The result is a highly technical wood material.

Half beam. In its manufacture, the log is processed only from two opposite sides, designed to connect the crowns. The other two sides remain round. Buildings made of such material have the appearance of a log cabin, but retain the technical characteristics of a log cabin.

Source hibara.net

A log bath can be used almost immediately after construction is completed. Shrinkage can be from 1 to 10 percent, depending on the type of material. Glued laminated timber has a minimum percentage of shrinkage. Unprofiled timber gives maximum shrinkage and after the erection of walls requires caulking and finishing. Other options for timber can serve without caulking.

On our website you can find contacts of construction companies that offer services for. You can directly communicate with representatives by visiting the exhibition of houses "Low-Rise Country".

What's better

To choose between round logs and profiled timber, you need to compare the main characteristics of these materials. The beam comes out a little more expensive than a log. But it has its own advantages. It weighs less, which saves on the arrangement of the foundation and transportation. At the same time, it provides the premises with higher thermal insulation.

Source yandex.uz

As for shrinkage, there is also an advantage on the side of the beam. Its shrinkage is predictable, even in the case of a material of natural moisture. It "shrinks" more evenly and smoothly. The log, in most cases, after shrinkage, gives such effects as the appearance of cracks and inter-crown gaps, as well as deformation of the forms. You can get rid of all this only by re-caulking.

There is another criterion - appearance. A 6x6 bathhouse with an attic and a log terrace looks like a classic Russian hut from a fairy tale. For many homeowners, this factor is crucial. But the beam is also quite aesthetic. It looks good in both classical and modern architecture. So, for example, if a cottage on a site is built in high-tech or constructivist style, then an authentic log building will look inharmonious next to it. But a log bath will fit perfectly into any architectural environment.

Source saw-wood.ru

With all these differences, the choice is often made in favor of a material that is more convenient in construction. It is easier to build from profiled timber. The tongue-and-groove system allows you to quickly and easily connect individual elements. This affects the speed of construction of the building. Therefore, many homeowners choose timber.

Construction stages

Consider the phased process of building a bath from a profiled beam. The first step is to choose a place for its location. According to the rules and regulations, it should be at least 3 meters from the fence, 8 meters from the house, 12 meters from the well, 8 meters from the neighbors' plot. Having chosen a suitable place for construction, you can begin planning and construction.

Project

For the construction of a bath, you can use one of the standard projects developed by professional architects. If desired, you can order an individual project of a 6x6 bath, the layout of which will fully comply with the existing requirements.

When designing a compact bath, the most important thing is to conveniently place all the necessary premises. It should have a steam room, a washing room, a bathroom, a rest room. It is also desirable to have a small vestibule to effectively maintain the temperature and a room in which things can be folded.

Source syh.gopemad.ru.net

Foundation

An ordinary bath can be built on a lightweight strip foundation. But for a building with an attic, in some cases, a tape-pile version of the foundation is chosen. The choice depends on the soil conditions at the site. The weaker the soil, the more justified the use of a strip-pile foundation.

Log house assembly

Timber can be purchased as a normal material according to the designer's calculations. And you can purchase a ready-made house kit, which is a kind of constructor with elements of the required parameters.

Assembly of the house kit is very quick and easy. But when building a bath 6 6 with an attic, working with standard bars is also not difficult, since their length is just 6 meters.

Before starting the assembly, additional rails must be laid on the foundation base. They should be spaced 25 cm apart, and their thickness should be between 5 and 10 cm. After installation, this structure must be filled with mounting foam or similar insulating material.

Before laying, all beams should be carefully treated with an antiseptic, which will protect them from moisture and insects, and also give the wood fire-fighting properties. If pine or linden is chosen for the log house, for the first crown in contact with the base of the building it is advisable to use bars made of more stable wood - larch or aspen.

Warming

In order for the walls of the log house to turn out to be warm enough, during their construction it is necessary to lay seams with jute. You can use another insulation, but the use of jute is the least labor-intensive and is performed as quickly as possible.

Ventilation

A ventilation system is essential in any building. In the bath, it is simply necessary. In conditions of high humidity without reliable ventilation, even well-treated wood will not last long. The location of supply and ventilation openings in the walls is laid down in the project. You need to make them during the assembly process.

Roof

It is very important to cover it with a roof as soon as possible after assembling the log house. The roofing cake should consist of all the layers necessary for the construction of the attic. It must be insulated, insulated from moisture, it must be provided with a roof ventilation system.

Arrangement of a steam room

In the steam room, it is better to additionally insulate all surfaces. The wall can be sewn up with fire-resistant and moisture-resistant mineral moisture. It is desirable to insulate the walls with a foliated vapor barrier material. The floor in the steam room is recommended to be made above the installation level of the stove. This is necessary in order to protect the wooden floor from excessive moisture, as well as for its quick and high-quality heating.

Project options

A bath with an attic can have a different layout. There are not very many options, since there are certain rules for designing a bath complex. However, it is the presence of an attic that opens up wider possibilities for distributing space in a building.

Bath project 6 by 6 with an attic

Bath layout option, in which all the premises of the bath complex are located on the lower level. In the attic floor there are 2 more additional rooms that can be arranged at the discretion of the owners. On the ground floor, a compact corner terrace takes up little space. Nevertheless, there is enough space left for all architectural elements. As can be seen in this example, the layout of a 6x6 bath with an attic can include not only mandatory, but also additional architectural elements.

Bath project with an isolated attic

In this version, the stairs to the second floor are located in the hall. Such a planning move allows you to use the attic without entering the bath complex. On the second floor there are 3 rooms. If one of them is equipped as a kitchen-living room, and the second as a bathroom, the attic of the bath will become a separate isolated dwelling.

Bath project with a terrace and a balcony

An example of this development of a 5 by 8 bath shows how, by changing the proportions of the building, additional architectural elements can be successfully placed - a terrace and a balcony. The originality of the project is that the terrace here is a little "recessed" into the structure of the building, which allows planning a fairly spacious room in the attic floor.

This sauna building can also be a summer kitchen, for which there is a place in the veranda. The balcony on the second floor is a great place for tea drinking with family or guests. An isolated room in the attic is quite suitable for arranging a workshop, office or selling others.
