The layout of individual apartments is always different, as is the area, and often this applies specifically to the kitchen. The dimensions of the kitchen may be familiar (several squares), but often this room is converted into a studio. Be that as it may, in such kitchens they put a bar counter, it not only looks stylish, but also practical - today few families find themselves at the table together. And if there is a counter, then bar stools are also needed. How to make a bar stool with your own hands?

Why on your own?

Of course, we are not saying that you should forget about furniture stores, but instead make all the furniture with your own hands. But if you look at the photos of bar stools that can be found in numerous catalogs of furniture stores, we can conclude: such a chair can actually be made by yourself!

In addition, hand-made pieces of furniture can become a true decoration of the house, pleasing not only to the eye, but also to the soul.

On a note! Even in this case, there are more opportunities, because you yourself decide which option is best suited for the interior of the room. It is not necessary to mention once again about people who like to work with their hands.

We decide on the design and construction

First of all, decide on the size of the chair. Its height, for example, will depend on the height of the bar itself. Also remember that your bar stool should be not only attractive, but also comfortable, in all aspects. Once you have decided on all this, proceed directly to the design.

In truth, you can start with the appearance, but then it may turn out that, due to ergonomic features, some adjustments are required.

As for the design, then, first of all, decide how many legs the chair will have and whether they will be at all. The best option is a product with four legs. It is easy to manufacture, convenient and reliable.

Important! A chair with a back will be even more comfortable, especially if you add armrests to it. If you plan to sit on such a chair during meals, then think about the back in advance.

Pay special attention to the upholstery (if it is planned). A chair made entirely of wood will fit perfectly into almost any interior, and after varnishing / painting and in other cases, it will also look good.

More details about the height of the bar stool

Nothing is known about the creator of the first bar stool. One can only guess that it first appeared around the time when, instead of the usual partitions between visitors and the seller, high (1.1-1.3 m) counter tables with comfortable table tops began to be used. From such racks, visitors to drinking establishments no longer had to move away. As a result, the usual "three-legged" chair was transformed into a bar stool. For more noble bars, they were made of precious woods, trimmed with leather and fabric; the poor public was content with cheap options. But even despite the practicality and high "growth", all varieties of bar stools remained in the shadows for a long time due to an unremarkable design.

Everything changed in the fifties and sixties of the last century, when high chairs became fashionable and attracted the attention of large enterprises. Much has changed since then, today the designs are very diverse: there are models with and without armrests, with backs, rotating and static, soft, with removable cushions and without upholstery ... Changes have also affected the material of manufacture - now they use not only wood, but also chrome, aluminium, plastic. And the variety of decor allows you to use it for all possible stylistic decisions!

Despite all this, when choosing a bar stool, its convenience is of great importance. Due to the center of gravity, which is shifted forward (the visitor rests his elbows on the counter), the support is not the back, but the footrest. For this reason, the backrest is more a tribute to tradition than an ergonomic condition. As for the seating height, it, as noted earlier, depends on the height of the bar, and therefore modern chairs are either produced in two sizes (Th and Bh) or equipped with a gas-lift mechanism, thanks to which you can easily adjust the height of the seat (within 54-85 cm).

Which tree to choose?

If you plan to make a wooden bar stool, then remember: it will require about 10 finished elements. The same applies to structures made of other materials.

When choosing a material, give preference to hardwoods (such as oak, maple, beech). In principle, wood is best suited for self-production (although there may be exceptions, which we will discuss later) in terms of the “effort-result” ratio. Moreover, wooden chairs will look great in an apartment/house.

After choosing a suitable drawing or compiling it yourself, get the materials. Everything you need is sold in building supermarkets or hardware stores, while chair parts can be ordered ready-made in the workshop. If you specify the required dimensions, you will quickly and inexpensively cut out all the required parts of the structure.

On a note! There may be more details - it all depends on the chosen design. In addition, upholstery materials may be added. Also, after assembling the chair, it is recommended to impregnate it with a primer (if it was not covered with paint / varnish) to protect it from moisture.

But in the manufacture of a metal bar stool, some difficulties will arise. This option is suitable for craftsmen who are accustomed to working with metal, have all the necessary tools and are able to independently make all the details. Additionally, you will need to work with welding if connectors for fastening are not provided.

A wooden product, unlike a metal one, is easier to assemble - this will require a hacksaw, a screwdriver, self-tapping screws and sandpaper. Of course, the description is very superficial, but it shows the difference well.

Features of the manufacture of a bar stool

Despite the huge number of ideas (both in specialized magazines and on the Internet), the most important thing in all cases is the correct measurements.

The most important thing is the correct measurements

First, decide what the height of the chair will be. It is recommended that from the seat to the tabletop it should be approximately 35-40 cm. Having determined the height, draw up a drawing or use a ready-made one (choose the appropriate option).

On a note! To make the simplest bar stool, you will need 4 legs, the same number (preferably) of the legs and, in fact, the seat. If a back is planned, then the hind legs should be about 30-35 cm longer (it will serve as the basis for the back).

It is easy to make a mistake at any of the stages of manufacturing - both during the preparation of parts of the structure, and during measurements. Therefore, it is recommended that all measurements be repeatedly rechecked before being included in the drawing or cutting off an unnecessary part.

The ready-made drawings already mentioned above will help with this, which is more relevant for people who have not designed anything before. Do not rush, try not "for show", but for the result!

Option #1. Simple wooden bar stool

The first thing you have to think about is how will the seat be, hard or soft? Not knowing which option to choose, make a firm seat, as in the example below. In the future, you can upholster it at any time with any available material (fabric, leather, etc.). The diagram below shows the design and dimensions.

Step 1. For the legs, use wood 5x5x71 cm (in our example, it is poplar). Cut the chamfers / corners at both ends by about 5 degrees, so that the legs stand at a slope relative to each other. For connections, drill pocket holes.

Step 2 Attach the bottom/middle planks, chamfering in the same way (all at the same 5 degree angle).

Step 3 Having fastened all the parts that are parallel, begin to screw the transverse partitions to one of these sides. Do one side first, then the other.

Step 4 When attaching the partitions, consider the fact that it should be comfortable to put your feet on them during the operation of the bar stool. This is a prerequisite.

Step 5 The seat will have a special shape, thanks to which the chair will be even more comfortable. At the end of the board that will be used for sitting, mark up. To get the desired shape, use a circular saw, setting it to different cutting depths; Although it is quite possible to use a regular saw. First cut the grooves, and then remove the excess wood with a chisel.

On a note! The process, of course, is quite complicated, and therefore, if there is something better at hand, the chisel can be abandoned. When you are finished with this, carefully clean all surfaces with a grinder.

Step 6 In the end, it remains only to connect the legs to the seat. To this end, drill holes in the upper part of the legs, make the same holes on the bottom of the seat, then, using glue, put all the parts on the pins.

Clean the surfaces of the finished bar stool with sandpaper. If necessary, close the holes with putty. Next, you can paint the chair or, alternatively, varnish it.

Step 7 Everything, a simple bar stool is ready (and in our example there are three of them). Such a design - thanks to the competent placement of perpendicular crossbars, comfortable seating and selected height - may well become the most favorite and comfortable place in the house! Would you like to make the same chair? Feel free to get to work, because nothing is easier!

Option #2. Backless bar stool with metal legs

Consider the process of making a simple highchair made of walnut (seat) and metal. An old bed frame was used for the legs. The height of the structure is approximately 64 cm.

A distinctive feature of the option is the shape, which makes it easy to weld and strengthen pieces of metal. If you plan to use the welding machine for the first time, then in the course of making such a chair you will definitely gain valuable experience and learn how to cook well.

Step 1. Start by creating the shape of the future design. Cut a suitable material (for example, chipboard) into four pieces of 54.5x23.2 cm. All elements are fixed with a side joint with screws, as a result, a square "pipe" 58.5 cm high and 20 cm sides is obtained.

Step 2 Make a corner base for the mold using a 9.5 cm piece of board. You need to cut the pieces beveled so that they all fit. To do this, find a suitable angle using a tape measure and set it so that everything matches. As a result, after cutting, beveled edges will be obtained.

Step 3 Fit pieces with edges cut at an angle of 45 degrees around the perimeter of the base. Fasten the beveled base using plywood and small nails, as in the photo below. You do not connect this part to the "pipe", and therefore it can be easily removed if necessary.

Step 4 Thanks to the shape made, you can easily determine the location of the legs. No changes are required, you just need to attach and mark up.

First of all, mark and cut the legs from the bottom. To make the process easier, you can hang the corner of the base over the edge of the table and then fasten the iron piece in place. Then cut off the bottom ends.

After that, place everything in the form and proceed to mark the upper ends of future legs.

Step 5 For the top of the structure, use 4 corners. Mark everything you need with the help of the square made before. Glue the pieces together, then remove from the mold in order to fit the weld on each side.

Important! Vice, as in the photo, it is better not to put on a tree. Because the bolts by which everything is fastened can fly out, and everything will have to be redone.

Step 6 Cut out a few more pieces of metal to make the footrest. In our example, the length is about 30 cm, and the angle is 45 degrees.

Step 7 The support with a footrest was held with the upper part of the structure and blocks for the supports. Weld everything together. Weld a metal lining on the bottom of each leg. At the end of the work, sand everything with “sandpaper” (recommended grit - 40).

Step 8 Now it's time for the walnut. Cut the main part into 2 thick boards, clean them with sandpaper. For sanding beveled edges, use sandpaper with a grit in the range of 100-220.

Step 9 Treat the frame of the future structure with a primer, and then with black paint. At the end, attach the wooden seat to the holes previously made with screws.

Option No3. Wooden bar stool with round seat

Another great option, but compared to the first, much more difficult to perform. But first things first.

Step 1. First, prepare the necessary lumber. It is better to use a bar with a section of 30x30, although in our example 30x40 is used due to the lack of a suitable one on sale. All this will cost a very reasonable amount.

Step 2 Start cutting. Prepare 4 bars 45 cm long, 4 more - 57 cm.

Step 3 First of all, make 2 blanks from the bars according to the “long-short-long” type, and then glue 2 more short ones between them. By the way, in our example, in addition to clamps, clamps from a circular saw and a grinder are additionally used.

Step 4 From the remnants of boards and plywood, make a milling box. You want the 8 stud to go through the entire post (although it's better to use larger bolts to minimize vibration). In the example, the stud is tightened with nuts; the workpiece scrolls inside the box while constantly tightening the nut. Ideally, it is better to make a cutter for this, which rotates the blank by 10-15 degrees.

Prices for various types of milling cutters

Step 5 As a result, you will carve such a rack.

Step 6 Start making the seat and footrest. They will be round, their diameter will be 31 cm. For greater strength, you can glue them from two shields, placing the lamellas across each other.

Step 7 Cut a ring out of plywood using a router. With this ring, you will process the outer edges of the footboard and seat, as well as the inside of the latter.

Step 8 More or less like this. Inside, milling was carried out along a copy sleeve, and outside - with a milling cutter with a bearing.

Step 9 Mark the footrest - put the center post in the right place, then circle the outline.

Step 10 Mark in the corner where exactly you need to make vias. By the way, a pen drill can “break” a tree; if this happens, you will be forced to putty a lot.

Step 11 With a thin drill, mark the point where the pen tip passes. Next, use a pen drill to make holes of the desired diameter, cut out sections with a jigsaw, and then align everything with “sandpaper” on a bar.

Step 12 This is how the wood will look after puttying the gaps left after the pen drill.

Step 13 Glue the blanks of the legs from the bars.

Step 14 Shape them using a plywood template. Be careful and securely fasten the template with nails, otherwise it may be torn off the workpiece.

Step 15 Glue the cross, assembled on the grooves, into the seat.

Step 16 Make similar grooves in the legs to assemble them.

Step 17 After milling the edges, proceed to assembly.

Step 18 Sand the seat with extreme care.

Step 19 Pre-assemble the bar stool (without glue) to try on the parts.

Step 20 Connect all the details together.

Step 21 After final assembly, apply stain and varnish to the glue. The result you get will definitely please you!

Table. The cost of manufacturing such a bar stool.

On a note! In general, the manufacture of such a chair will cost about 1400 rubles.

Option number 4. Chic metal bar stool

Consider another interesting option for making a bar stool. Looks attractive and original.

Metal bar stool - decoration of your kitchen

Step 1. Draw on a piece of a dense sheet of asbestos, which is used for welding, a pre-prepared form (in the photo - red lines).

Step 2 Cut according to the sketch of the workpiece, using a strip of 2.5 cm.

Step 3 Weld the parts together, as shown in the photo below.

Step 4 Choose an interior layout. We will immediately make a reservation that this stage can take a long time. Use the same strip for "shredding".

Step 5 Weld the parts, clean them. Also, round off the corners.

Step 6 Proceed to the most responsible business - start welding the legs. Use a 3x2 cm profile for this.

Step 8 First, grab the legs for 1 weld point, then gradually push them apart to the required positions.

Step 9 Here is what you get as a result.

Step 10 Designate the level at which the footrest will be located. Try it on yourself, you need to be comfortable. In our example, this is 45 cm from the seat.

Step 11 For the manufacture of stops, use the same 3x2 cm profile.

Step 12 Make tricky oblique cuts for them, then weld them.

Welders

Step 13 Put on special plastic plugs for the steel profile on the legs. Although you can, as in the example, make special "heels" of wood: they also will not scratch the floor, but they can be undermined if necessary to ensure stability for the bar stool.

Step 14 The part of the cork that will go inside the profile should be narrowed.

Step 15 Such plugs will be held only by friction. No glue or screws can be used. Sand corks to size with legs.

Step 16 The draft version of the bar stool is almost ready.

And this is how the chair will look in the interior.

Step 17 Start painting the product. First, apply a coat of primer.

Step 18 Paint everything below the seat black.

Step 19 Protect the black parts of the structure with something. So they will not get dirty during subsequent painting.

Step 20 In our example, such a cardinal color was chosen for the seat.

Step 21 Everything, a metal bar stool, made by hand, is ready for use!

Owners of spacious dwellings, both apartments and houses, have the opportunity to add comfortable and beautiful elements to the interior. So, bar counters are very popular.

Such racks require unusual places to sit. The length of which should be much higher than the average stool. A similar chair can be bought at a furniture store, or you can make it yourself. This process has many advantages over the store:

  • monetary savings (almost twice);
  • the ability to independently come up with a design;
  • good time;
  • a huge selection of materials and all kinds of colors will give freedom to imagination and desires.

Material selection

There are two possible ways to make a stool:

  • wood,
  • metal.

The first option has more advantages over the second:

  • assembly does not require complex technical work such as metal welding;
  • products have a smaller mass;
  • wood furniture is much more environmentally friendly, will bring more comfort to your home.

Any natural wooden material has its own characteristics in terms of density and can be:

  • soft: alder, birch, pine. It is easier to work with, but such items are less durable;
  • medium: beech, oak, cherry.
  • solid: maple, yew.

Products made of dense materials will last for almost several generations, they become very durable and reliable. But for a beginner in this business, soft ones are also suitable, one has only to take into account that their service life will not exceed 15 years.

Drawing preparation

Before starting work, you should accurately determine the design of the stool, put it on paper or make it electronically for your convenience.

The standard conditional dimensions for all such chairs are:

  • height from floor to seat: 80-85cm;
  • length between legs about 40cm, width 30cm;
  • seat: 30*40cm.

Necessary tool and material

To assemble a wooden stool you will need:

  • hammer,
  • dolito,
  • screwdriver or drill
  • sandpaper,
  • hacksaw,
  • square,
  • foam rubber, seat upholstery fabric,
  • furniture stapler,
  • glue,
  • lumber,
  • paint or varnish
  • wood stain
  • wood details:
  • 4 things. ribs with a thickness of not more than 3 cm;
  • circle 2pcs:
  • thickness of the first 2cm, diameter 26cm,
  • the second - 3cm, diameter 36cm;
  • 4 legs, 3 cm thick.

Assembly process

To assemble the simplest bar stool made of wood, you will need to connect all the prepared parts to each other using self-tapping screws, and to better fix them, apply PVA glue.

The assembly process includes the following sequence:

  • the legs are connected to each other;
  • between them below is a small circle;
  • a larger circle is screwed on top;
  • it remains to install stiffeners;
  • and after cleaning with sandpaper, apply: stain and at least 2 coats of varnish.

Note! If you wish, you can make your stool soft, for this you need to put foam rubber on the seat, cover it with the selected material on top, which is fixed on the back side with a stapler.

This is how you can make a comfortable, beautiful bar stool for your counter very quickly and quite easily.

Everyone wants to equip their home in the best possible way. To do this, people make stylish and original repairs and arrange furniture. Furniture items can not only be purchased ready-made in stores, but also made by hand.

The second option is distinguished by saving money, exclusive designs and a wide flight of fancy.

Bars appeared on the market not so long ago, but managed to become popular and in demand among owners of spacious kitchens or dining rooms, where in addition there is also a bar counter. Most often, they are found in spacious private houses, where there is free space for their installation. If you are lucky enough to become the owner of such a home, then you should definitely put a few original and exclusive chairs near the bar counter, which will become the main decoration of the room.

The main advantages of independent production of furniture items include:

Peculiarities

When it comes to design features, bar stools come in a variety of shapes, designs, sizes, and materials of manufacture. According to the types of structures, they are divided into models:

Advice: if you are just starting to master the profession of a furniture maker, opt for a stool.

The choice of wood species

You can make a bar stool out of wood or metal. Metal structures are suitable for those who know how to work with a welding machine.

But almost every person can assemble a wooden product, having little experience in carpentry and a great desire to make furniture with their own hands.

Furniture made of natural wood will bring into the interior a special atmosphere of home, warmth and comfort. It will delight owners not only with its environmental friendliness, but also with interesting shades, textures and textures.

When choosing wood, there are several factors to consider. Namely, the fact that by species the whole tree is divided into:

  • Soft. These species include pine, birch, alder;
  • The average. These are oak, cherry, beech;
  • Solid. These include maple, exotic trees, yew.

Attention: in addition to the strength of wood, it is worth considering its resistance to moisture. Even hard varieties of trees do not always withstand increased moisture, and upon contact with it, they swell and lose their original appearance.

Softwood is the easiest to work with. But it does not have a long service life and high technical qualities. A chair made of soft varieties will serve the owners from 10 to 15 years. But this is the best option for beginners in carpentry. If you already have experience in self-assembling chairs, it is better to use more expensive types of wood, such as oak, beech, ash. Such chairs will serve you and your family for decades, and will delight you with aesthetics and ease of use.

You can make a bar stool from different types of trees. The most sought after and popular are:

Drawing, standard dimensions of legs and seat

Before you start creating a drawing, you need to decide on the design and type of construction of the future chair. At this stage, consider:

  • The number of legs. The best option would be to make a chair with four legs..
  • Height adjustable. Of course, you can make a standard chair, but it will be much more convenient if its height can be adjusted.
  • Ease of use. To do this, it is recommended to make a footrest, armrests and backrest at the chair.
  • Upholstery and frame materials. The frame can be made of wood or metal. And for the upholstery, durable and beautiful fabrics are selected.

After that, the best option for creating a drawing of a bar stool is selected. And you can do it in different ways:

  • Draw by hand with a pencil on a piece of paper or graph paper. This option is suitable for professional furniture makers who know how to present a piece of furniture in different projections and realize it all on paper.
  • Find a suitable version of the drawing on the Internet. This is the easiest, and all novice masters use this method. Here you will not need to calculate the size of the chair, calculate the number of consumables, come up with a design. Experienced craftsmen will do all this for you in advance.
  • Use special computer programs. The most popular of them are: cutting, PRO - 100.

Which option to opt for is up to you. The main thing is that the drawing of the bar stool is thought out correctly. After all, its comfort in operation will depend on it.

Although there are many options for creating a bar stool drawing, the following factors should be considered. Namely, this piece of furniture must have certain dimensions:

These are only conventions. If the seat of the bar stool has a round or oval shape, its dimensions will differ significantly from those indicated above.

Also, when creating a drawing, it is worth considering that the seat can be both hard and soft. To make a soft seat, you will need to additionally prepare the following materials:

  • foam rubber;
  • upholstery fabric;
  • furniture stapler;
  • paint glue.

Tools and materials

Of the tools we need:

Of the materials in the workflow will be used:

  • lumber;
  • fasteners for legs;
  • glue;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • paints and varnishes;
  • stain;
  • solvent;
  • brushes.

How to make according to the standard?

Making a bar stool, like any other piece of furniture, begins with sawing the details. We will need to prepare the following individual elements:

  • four stiffeners, the thickness of which must be at least 3 cm;
  • two circles. The thickness of the first is 2 cm and a diameter of 26 cm, the thickness of the second is 3 cm and a diameter of 36 cm;
  • four legs, each 3 cm thick.

Reference: a small circle will be used as a substrate, a large one as a seat.

After preparing the individual elements of the bar stool, you can begin to assemble it. All parts are assembled with self-tapping screws, and to give the product strength, you can use PVA glue. The bar stool assembly process will look like this:

We have considered the easiest option for making a bar stool made of natural wood with our own hands.

If you want to make a recess in the seat, you need to cut it out on the surface, and then plan it with a chisel. Next, the seat is sanded and covered with paints and varnishes.

The seat of the bar stool can be made soft. To do this, foam rubber, at least 3 cm thick, is glued to plywood or boards, and upholstery fabric is nailed on top with a stapler.

Decorating wooden furniture

After making a bar stool, it must be decorated. Each master chooses his own version of decorating a piece of furniture made by himself.

Some simply cover the wooden surfaces with stain and varnish or paint. Someone likes to carve the legs and back of furniture, someone prefers the decoupage technique.

The easiest way to decorate a bar stool is with fabric.. For these purposes, materials resistant to moisture and pollution are selected (tapestry, leather, leatherette, jacquard, microfiber).

It is not at all necessary to bother yourself with hauling furniture, sometimes it is enough just to sew covers on it. So you can update the interior of the room from time to time, creating new covers. When choosing a fabric for decoration, it is important to consider the overall interior of the kitchen or dining room. The chair should harmoniously fit into the environment and be its main decoration.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is worth noting that all bar stools are unique and inimitable in their own way. They are able to bring into the interior a special atmosphere of warmth and harmony. A self-made chair with your own hands will become not only a decoration for the kitchen or dining room, but also a source of pride among your family members and guests.

In contact with

The spacious kitchen allows you to use the space to the maximum: here you can place not only the usual dining table, but also a bar with chairs. You can make a bar stool at home with your own hands, having a minimum set of tools and having the basics of woodworking. It will be a little more difficult to make kitchen furniture from metal pipes.

Furniture design

You need to start making a bar stool with your own hands by determining the material, as well as by measuring and creating a drawing. It is better to make a structure from wood (pine, birch) or metal (from pipes). A good economy option is plywood or chipboard panels, they are reliable and durable. Having chosen the material for the product, you can proceed to the next stage - inventing a shape and creating a drawing.

Do-it-yourself bar stools must have long legs, but everything else is optional. For example, the design may have a small back or soft seat of square or round shape. All this should reflect the drawings. When developing them, it is worth taking the height of the bar counter as a basis and subtracting 350 mm. Thus, the correct and convenient height of the furniture is obtained. This is the standard calculation. As for the height of the backrest, it should not be lower than 20 and not higher than 60 cm.

Features of creating a bar stool

Decided to make a chair out of wood? Logs are an excellent blank for the product.

Their thickness should be at least 20-30 cm, otherwise the chair will sag. However, if the thickness of the material is greater, then it is difficult to work with it. Logs need to be cut into 10 pieces, which must match the dimensions on the drawings.

  • Seat circle. Thickness - 30 mm, diameter - 350 mm.
  • Support for the seat in the form of a circle. Thickness - 20 mm, diameter - 250 mm.
  • 4 wooden legs. Thickness - 30 mm.
  • 4 straps for structural stiffeners. Thickness - 30 mm.

Please note: sawing should be done vertically so that the wood structure is not damaged and remains vertical, otherwise it will reduce the strength of the chair.

After cutting, the stage of assembly of the product begins. For this you will need:

  • metal corners for fixing stiffeners to the legs;
  • self-tapping screws 5x80 mm for fixing the legs of the structure to each other and for screwing them to a small circle;
  • self-tapping screws 5x20 mm for fixing stiffeners;
  • self-tapping screws 5x40 mm for fastening the seat to a small circle.

You need to start assembling a wooden chair according to this scheme: the legs are fastened together, then stiffeners are installed on the metal corners, a small circle is screwed to the legs, and the main seat is fixed to the whole structure from above. The chair is ready! The product is varnished for practicality.

The second version of the wooden chair

The classic option for the kitchen is a high chair with a rectangular seat. As in the first option, in calculating the height, you need to build on the height of the bar counter. The classical optimal parameters are shown in the figure.

Logs are suitable as a material. Their thickness should be 30 mm, size 5 × 5 cm. After sawing the logs into the required parts, you can begin to assemble the furniture.

Start assembling the chair from the legs. To make them slanted towards each other, you need to transform them by beveling the corners and chamfers at both ends by 5 degrees. Now you can attach the top and bottom rails. Thus, it turned out 2 parts of the chair, parallel to each other. The next stage is the attachment of perpendicular partitions - at the top and bottom. It is important to understand here that the lower perpendicular partition will serve as a support for the legs, so it must be fixed at a convenient level.

We turn to the manufacture of the seat. At the end of the board, markup should be made, and then cut out the necessary shape. A circular saw will help to give unusual bends. Be sure to clean the part with a grinder.

The final stage is the connection of the legs of the chair and the seat. Holes are drilled at the tops of the legs and from the bottom of the seat, and 2 parts are fastened with pins. You can put them not only on pins, but also glue them with PVA glue to make the chair more stable. The product is covered with varnish or paint.

Metal bar stool

A metal product will decorate the kitchen interior in loft or industrial styles. Especially a metal chair will look original at the bar counter in the kitchen. It can be made from iron pipes.

To create furniture you will need:

  • piece of iron,
  • pipe blanks preferably made of stainless steel (nickel-plated, chrome-plated, anodized),
  • sheet of plywood or chipboard.

The diameter of the pipes depends on the type of furniture. But it should be borne in mind that the design must withstand the weight of a person and the pressure of the seat. It is recommended to take material with a diameter of at least 5 cm. The height of the legs is determined and the billet of pipes of the required length is cut off, preferably with a small margin of 1-2 cm.

Now we need to shape the material. This can be done using a pipe bender: the upper parts of the pipes are bent into a semicircle shape. They are fastened with fixing bolts to each other.

The seat can be made of metal or plywood. In the first version, the required shape is drawn on a piece of iron, then it is cut out and attached to a curved billet of pipes by welding or bolts. In the second version, the plywood base is cut out to the required shape and attached to a metal frame. In this case, the seat should be covered with a fabric with foam rubber so that it is comfortable to use. Please note: a chair with iron legs can scratch the floor, so you should “put on” plastic or rubber “socks”.

Now it has become fashionable to equip a bar counter in the kitchen or living room. An individual approach automatically generates the question, how to make a bar stool with your own hands? Of course, they can be purchased at the store, but independent work will give you the opportunity to make a unique model that will be impossible to buy.

The most popular option for how to assemble a bar stool is to use wood and plywood. You can use metal inserts, but this will complicate the work at home. In order to make a wooden bar stool without being distracted, you should prepare the basic tools and materials:

  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • hammer;
  • jigsaw;
  • roulette and corner;
  • bit;
  • plane;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • grinder.

On the Internet there is a mass of kitchen furniture with a step-by-step description of its manufacture at home. You can try with solid wood and plywood, this material is not difficult to get, but it is almost impossible to spoil it.

Before proceeding directly to the manufacture of bar stools, you should draw an exact diagram of the product. If you know how to disassemble a bar stool, then it will be easier for you to imagine it in parts, thereby completing each detail yourself. The prepared scheme will help determine the consumables. The height of your model should be such that the distance between the seat and the table top is no more than 40 centimeters.

Assembly of prepared parts

When choosing a tree for a bar stool with your own hands, pay attention to pine or birch. They have a fairly long service life, besides, they are easy to work with. How to choose material for home furniture can be viewed on the Internet, there are many photo and video files on this topic. The thickness of the material should be 25 - 30 centimeters, then you will not have to doubt the strength of the seat.

A standard wooden bar stool consists of:

  • circle with a diameter of 40 mm., and a thickness of 30 mm. No. 1;
  • circle with a diameter of 30 mm., and a thickness of 20 mm. No. 2;
  • legs with a thickness of 30 mm., the length is chosen arbitrarily in the amount of four pieces. No. 3;
  • stiffener 30 mm., in the amount of four pieces.

Next, we will show you how to make your own several options for bar stools.

Option 1. A chair with a round seat

The first part will serve as a seat. The second (small circle) - with a substrate under the seat Chair legs From an array 20 mm thick we cut out the stiffeners

The ribs are attached to the legs with the help of corners, which are placed from below, from the side of the floor. We tint the chair with stain. Dry and open with varnish in 2-3 layers. Bar stool ready

Option 2. A chair with a curved seat

Creating a drawing

We take 4 beams 40x40 mm We fasten the legs. Installing the crossbars Attaching the top and bottom rails
With a hand saw in the board, we make several cuts of various depths. Cut out the seat. We attach the seat to the chair, which we varnish after assembly. The chair with a curved seat is ready

A bar stool made of wood with your own hands looks simply gorgeous. We collect all the details gradually, carefully connecting them together. The larger circle is the seat, the smaller one is the underlayment. Basically, bar stools for the kitchen come in a round shape, so you can stick to the standard option for a start.

To begin with, we attach the legs to the small circle on the screws. In order not to have to disassemble the product later, make marks on the tree with a special pencil. Then we fix the stiffeners, also according to the pre-prepared markings. The final step is to mount the seat. The chair should be comfortable and therefore the screws should not be felt by hand.

How to decorate a chair?

Woodwork will never go out of fashion. Therefore, the most convenient way would be to varnish them, if, of course, this is combined with a bar counter. In general, there are no restrictions on decoration, it all depends on the desire of the creators. Most importantly, sand the product before painting.

Chairs with metal inserts

You can make a stool with your own hands with metal inserts. This method can not only decorate externally, but also add strength. Forged bar stools look expensive and stately, but to make them yourself you need good blacksmith skills and a workshop. You can make legs from a profile pipe with your own hands, this will diversify the model.

In this case, you can install a gas lift mechanism. It will help to adjust the height of the seat itself without getting up from it. When it breaks, the chair is not thrown out, disassembly and replacement of the mechanism is carried out quickly and is quite cheap. Preliminary drawings are also being prepared for such chairs and it doesn’t matter what you make your chair from, metal or pipes.
