Isoplats for interior decoration in everyday life are often called coniferous boards. This name has taken root because of the composition of the material made from the fibers of coniferous trees, which necessarily grow in the northern climatic zones. In the production, only pure natural raw materials are used without the addition of artificial components. Bonding of products is carried out by resins emitted from high-quality crushed wood chips under conditions of high temperature and pressure. No chemistry.

Areas of application of heat and sound insulation boards isoplaat indoors

  1. Heat and sound insulation of walls.
  2. Finishing ceilings with insulation and sound insulation.
  3. Thermal insulation of floors.
  4. Substrate for floor coverings made of hard products (laminate, parquet, floorboard) or soft (linoleum, carpet) in rooms with low traffic, such as bedrooms and children's rooms.

Depending on the purpose, the plates can be heat-insulating, moisture-resistant, sound-proofing and with a combined effect. It is an excellent replacement for traditional plasterboard, cork, felt, plywood and other materials.

Before installing isoplaat heat and sound insulation boards, they must be kept in the room where they are to be installed for ≥ 24 hours. To ensure effective ventilation, the sheets are placed vertically with a gap between them using small wooden spacers.

Advantages of isoplat panels

The popularity and demand for products is due to their following remarkable qualities:

  1. 100% environmental friendliness and safety for human health without causing allergic reactions;
  2. regulation of indoor climate. The material is able to absorb excess moisture, and when the air is dry, give it back. This prevents the appearance of mold, fungi and the formation of condensate;
  3. isoplaat sound insulation, due to the porous structure of the fibers, provides acoustic comfort from external and internal noises with the absence of echo effects in the rooms;
  4. good thermal insulation;
  5. high energy intensity regulates the temperature, the room does not heat up much in the heat and slowly cools down in the cold;
  6. versatility due to the possibility of finishing in country houses, city apartments and cottages for seasonal residence (in the latter case, periodic ventilation of the premises will be required);
  7. the possibility of using for finishing with wallpapering, decorative plaster compositions or painting;
  8. leveling minor surface defects;
  9. small thickness, practically does not reduce the usable area of the rooms;
  10. the product does not tear, does not roll and does not change the original geometric dimensions;
  11. ease of cutting with a regular knife;
  12. ease of installation;
  13. durability ≥ 50 years.

The only drawback is the relatively high cost.

The price depends on the following factors:

  • from the purpose of the material;
  • sheet sizes;
  • product thickness;
  • number of sheets in one package.

The procedure for facing walls and ceilings for soundproofing and insulation isoplates

  1. Surface preparation. Alignment by felling protruding parts and sealing depressions and cracks. Decontamination, dedusting and degreasing. To prevent the formation of mold, walls and ceilings should be treated with antiseptics.
  2. Applying a thin layer of putty to the surface of the sheets on both sides, followed by priming. You need to use only a special primer for isoplat, a regular primer will cause irreparable harm to products. If the finish coating is provided for with thin types of wallpaper, then there is a possibility that the bright color of the plates will show through them. In these cases, it is recommended to paint the front of the panels with white water-based paint.
  3. The installation of sheets is carried out with a deformation gap of 1 cm from the floor level (which is created by gaskets from the same material), which is subsequently to be sealed with mounting foam or sealants. Laying is done outward with a smooth side. In the decoration of window and door openings, only solid slabs are used. Panels are installed at intervals of 10 mm.
  4. Fastening to wooden surfaces is carried out with stainless steel nails with wide heads and a slight penetration into the material or construction staples using a stapler. Fastening is carried out along the perimeter of the sheets, with an indent from the edges of about one cm, and in the middle. Along the edges, the fastening step is equal to 10 cm, in the middle 20 cm. When fixing on the ceilings, the step is halved. Can be fixed to smooth concrete or plastered surfaces with glue or foam. The adhesive is applied with notched trowels in three rows of strips 5 cm wide with a margin of 0.5 cm from the edges. When using foam, the application is carried out along the perimeter and in strips along the long side with a step of 30 cm. The glued sheets are fixed by tight pressing with horizontal control.
  5. The seams between the sheets are puttied and reinforced with fiberglass tapes. To do this, a small depression up to 3 mm with a width of 6 cm is made along the seams with sandpaper. All joints are sealed or foamed. The nail heads are also puttyed. If painting is planned in the future, it is recommended to putty the entire surface.
  6. Finishing in traditional ways.

The described classical method is time consuming, so you can use another method that is optimal in terms of quality and laboriousness of finishing. To do this, you need decorative panels of 12 mm thickness, made using the tongue-and-groove connection technology. At the factory, high-quality washable wallpaper or linen fabric is glued onto the panels using powerful presses. The width of the products at 58 cm allows their convenient transportation and installation even alone. The Finns perform decoration with such panels even in elite hotels.

In the presence of significant irregularities, the installation of plates is carried out on a crate of wooden antiseptic bars 50 by 45 mm. In the places where the panels are joined in height, veins are installed. For sheets with a thickness of ≤ 12 mm, the pitch is 30 cm, and for a thickness of 25 mm - 600 mm.

Isoplat substrate for laminate

The base of the floor must be strong, clean and dry, the presence of bumps and depressions is unacceptable. The thickness of the substrate is selected depending on the evenness of the base. It is not recommended to use material with a thickness of more than 5 mm to prevent damage to the locks of the laminate connection. For an even and new base, 2 mm is sufficient, but the moisture content of the concrete screed must be ≤ 5%. Underlayment for isoplaat laminate is recommended with a thickness of no more than 3 mm, while minor flaws without significant differences (≤ 2 mm) are acceptable.

Work order:

  1. After thoroughly cleaning the floor from dirt and dust with a powerful vacuum cleaner, a primer layer is applied. The base must be absolutely level and dry.
  2. The isoplate substrate is laid, in order to avoid coincidence of the joints with the coating, at angles of 450 to the direction of the laminate installation.
  3. Previously, the base is covered with a thick plastic film. The film is laid with a whip of 20 cm and an overlap on the walls of 5 mm. The excess is subsequently cut off. The seams are sealed with construction tape.
  4. To perceive the expansion of coniferous slabs along the walls, it is necessary to install 10 mm gaps, a gap of 2 ... 4 mm is also required between the sheets.
  5. The plates are fixed to the base with glue, liquid nails or a stapler.
  6. The laminate is laid directly on the isoplaat substrate.

For true connoisseurs of environmental safety and reliability of lining or substrate, isoplat plates are the best choice.

A rich selection of building materials allows you to build not only a new comfortable house in the shortest possible time, but also to modernize an existing one: to make an eco-friendly warm cottage out of it. Such an opportunity is provided by various finishing, heat and sound insulating boards, the use of which is justified by their outstanding technical and aesthetic characteristics. Among the best representatives of this group of materials is ISOPLAAT, which has a lot of advantages and benefits.

ISOPLAAT is a brand of sound and heat insulation boards made exclusively from natural materials. It does not contain any glue or any other chemical-based components. For this reason, ISOPLAAT is an advantage in every respect:

  • well absorbs and just as well removes moisture;
  • durable (service life of at least 50 years);
  • perfect in terms of environmental safety.

ISOPLAAT is made from the fibers of coniferous trees. The production technology is simple: the chopped wood is moistened to the state of maximum saturation with water, after which the resulting mass is laid out in an even layer and compressed by hot pressing.

In the process of such processing, lignin comes out of wood fibers, the only substance in their composition that can act as a binder. Thanks to this resin, no glue is required to obtain the boards of the desired density. Therefore, the product made by pressing is absolutely environmentally friendly.

At this stage of production, the “carpet” of crushed wood is not only compacted, but also molded. The material is cut into plates of standard sizes. The thickness of the layer determines the thickness of the slab.

Standard options:

  • length 270 cm;
  • width 120 cm;
  • thickness 8, 10, 12 and 25 mm.

After pressing and molding, the plates are sent for hot drying, where they stay for several hours and acquire all the necessary properties of high-quality sound and heat insulating material. To ensure moisture protection, both sides of the plates are covered with a layer of paraffin. But this material is not applied to the ends.

ISOPLAAT is produced in Estonia, the owner of the brand is the SCAN-GROUP group of companies. There are no Russian or any other analogues of this material. It comes directly from the Estonian manufacturer.

Properties of ISOPLAAT boards

The difference between Isoplata and fiberboards of other brands is that one of its sides is smooth, suitable for fine finishing. As a result, this material is the most profitable alternative to the usual drywall, OSB and plywood.

But this is not the only advantage of ISOPLAAT panels. They have the ability to absorb moisture in an amount up to 20% of their volume. At the same time, they do not lose their geometric shapes and technical characteristics. Since these boards are made of wood fiber, they wick away moisture well. That is, they are a "breathable" material that can provide an optimal microclimate in the house.

Unlike natural fibers, artificial fibers are not able to either absorb moisture or pass it through. Therefore, GKL and GVL do not differ in high-quality removal of vapors from the premises. In this regard, moisture-resistant plywood with OSB is significantly inferior to Isoplat. The reason is that these materials contain various chemical additives.

Why a windshield is a must

Other advantages of ISOPLAAT boards include:

  • high-quality sound insulation provided by the porous fibrous structure of the plate;
  • a high rate of heat capacity, which determines the ability to regulate the temperature of the air in the room;
  • excellent acoustic properties ensuring no echo effect.

ISOPLAAT boards are easy to process. You can easily drive a nail or screw a screw into them. The canvas can be easily sawn with a circular saw, electric jigsaw or hand saw.

Types of ISOPLAAT boards

Three types of ready-to-use products are made from wood-fiber cloths:

  • sound and heat insulating boards for exterior decoration of the house;
  • windproof plates;
  • universal plates with the connection of the ends using the "thorn-groove" method.

For exterior decoration of buildings, the first two types of this material are used: windproof and heat-insulating. Each of them has a layered structure, strong and durable.

Technical characteristics of heat and sound insulation boards ISOPLAAT

ISOPLAAT of this type is produced in thicknesses of 8, 10, 12 and 25 mm. The main function of these plates is thermal protection. Its characteristics are as follows:

  • for plates with a thickness of 8, 10 and 12 mm, the thermal conductivity is 0.053 W / m2 * ° C;
  • for plates with a thickness of 25 mm - 0.045 W / m2 * ° С.

The thermal conductivity indicator shows how much heat this material passes per 1 m2 of its area with a temperature drop of 1 ° C. Based on the presented data, it can be concluded that ISOPLAAT heat-shielding boards are close in their characteristics to fibrous heat insulators.

For this reason, in regions with a mild climate, they can act as the main heat-insulating material. But for areas with cold winters, Isoplata alone will not be enough to protect the house. Or you will need to lay a double or triple layer of this material.

The best option for sheathing a frame house with ISOPLAAT slabs:

  • exterior finish;
  • interior decoration;
  • inside the frame is a foam or fibrous insulation.

With this approach to the use of Isoplat plates, the energy efficiency of the building will be impeccable. That is, in winter, heating such a house will require the least amount of resources. In summer, such walls keep the cool indoors well.

Please note: a 12 mm thick slab has the same thermal insulation characteristics as 45 cm of wood or 20 cm of masonry.

Another important indicator of this type of "Isoplat" is the sound absorption coefficient. If this characteristic is the main criterion for choosing a material, it should be understood that the effectiveness of sound absorption depends on the thickness of the slab. The larger it is, the higher the soundproofing index.

Plate characteristics indicated in the table.

To better understand the significance of the sound insulation indicator, we can give the following example: the volume level of a conversation between people is 50 dB, the crying of a child is 70 dB, the volume of a jackhammer is 212 dB, the whisper of a person at a distance of 1 m is 25 dB. Using Isoplat plates for house cladding, it is possible to reduce the sound transmission coefficient of walls up to 50%.

Technical characteristics of ISOPLAAT wind protection boards

Windproof plates "Isoplat" have their own peculiarity: both sides of the canvases have a dark green color. This is a special marking provided by the manufacturer, and is necessary only so that you can immediately understand what type of plate this material belongs to. Standard plate parameters:

  • thickness 12 or 25 mm;
  • dimensions 2700x1200 mm;
  • straight edge around the entire perimeter of the canvas.

Isoplaat is a high quality, windproof board made from natural materials.

The main difference between windproof and heat-shielding plates is that the former are impregnated with paraffin throughout the entire thickness of the sheet. This provides a high coefficient of moisture resistance, which is extremely important for the exterior of the building. Therefore, such material can be fearlessly used in the cladding of a frame or other house.

With the help of Izoplat windproof plates, you can easily turn an old summer house into a comfortable house for all-season living. The canvases installed on the walls can be covered with a plaster solution or a ventilated facade can be mounted on top of them.

Disadvantages of ISOPLAAT boards

You can find different reviews about the characteristics of the plates of the Estonian manufacturer SCAN-GROUP. In general, the opinion about Isoplat plates is positive. The only thing you cannot be completely sure of is the durability of this material. The manufacturer claims that its products will last at least half a century. But ISOPLAAT is a relatively new material, so it has not yet passed the test of time.

When choosing Isoplat plates as a windscreen, main or additional insulation, several points should be taken into account:

  • the softness of this material;
  • the need for a strictly even cut when cutting canvases.

Due to the high water absorption coefficient, the boards cannot be stored outdoors. They must be covered with plastic wrap. When working with Isoplat, you must be extremely careful: do not drop the slabs and do not step on them. The disadvantage of this material is its low resistance to mechanical stress. Therefore, Isoplata sheets can become unusable from any blow or pressure. If the panel breaks, it will either need to be cut or replaced. This will lead to additional financial costs.

The second disadvantage of this material is that the ends of the plates are not protected from moisture. This is another reason to protect this material when stored on site. The lack of end protection also determines the Isoplata installation technology, regardless of whether it is a heat-insulating fabric or a windproof one.

Important: after installing two or more Isoplata plates on the wall, the joints between them must be sealed on the same day with mounting foam.

The next day, the excess foam is cut off. If a ventilated facade is planned, bars with a section of 40x50 mm or 50x50 mm are stuffed at the joints of the canvases, which will provide the ventilation gap required by the technology and serve as a frame for mounting the finishing material.

Rules for mounting ISOPLAAT boards

In frame housing construction, ISOPLAAT is used as a material that bridges cold bridges. The fact is that the racks of the frame are made of wood, which has a higher thermal conductivity than the insulation (polystyrene or mineral wool) laid between the supports.

Therefore, the frame itself is a complex of cold bridges that need to be blocked using sheet materials that are optimal in terms of characteristics. In this regard, ISOPLAAT is the most advantageous option for several reasons:

  • low cost;
  • light weight for easy installation;
  • susceptibility to processing.

Rules for installing plates

Installation of plates on the walls of an operated building or on the frame of a house under construction is carried out mainly in a vertical position. That is, in the direction of the length of the web: the side 1200 mm long (the width of the plate) should be located at the basement or foundation of the house.

The technology of frame housing construction provides for the installation of frame racks with a step of 60 cm. Thus, the Isoplata slab will be located between three racks. This provides ease of fastening and no need for additional cutting of the sheets.

The length of the slab is 2700 mm, which ensures the convenience of wall cladding, the height of which is 2 m 70 cm or less. If the height of the walls exceeds this figure, there will be a gap between the edge of the upper cut of the skin and the upper floor. In this case, wooden blocks are stuffed from the inside of the house between the racks of the frame, which are fixed at a height of 2 m 68 cm. Under this condition, it is possible to fix the upper edge of the already installed panel with self-tapping screws and build it up from above with a similar canvas, but shorter.

The windproof or heat-shielding panel is attached to the supporting base using self-tapping screws or nails. The first method is the most preferable, since the plate may be damaged when struck with a hammer. Therefore, when working with this material, it is recommended to use self-tapping screws and a screwdriver on batteries.

Since Isoplat is a soft material, the screws are screwed in at a distance of at least 1 cm from the end of the web. If fasteners are installed closer to the cut of the slab, it may delaminate or crumble.

If plaster is applied on top of Isoplat, the slab must be fixed in 15 cm increments to each frame rack adjacent to it. But this method is rarely used, since a ventilated facade is traditionally mounted on top of the wind protection. Therefore, additional fixation is carried out with the help of wooden blocks stuffed over the plates, which will serve as the basis of the facade. In this case, it is enough to fix Isoplat in only three places on each frame rack adjacent to the plate.

To fix the panels, you can use building brackets with a length of at least 32 mm.

With a web thickness of 12 mm, the optimal length of nails and self-tapping screws is 40 mm.

For panels with a thickness of 25 mm, fasteners with a length of 70-75 mm are used.

Accessories

For ease of installation, you can use self-made accessories. If there is no confidence in your eye, a bar is used to mark the attachment points of the plates, on which marks are made with a marker every 15 cm.

A wooden board or a bar with nails half driven into them will serve as a support for installing the plate on the wall. To do this, the bar is fixed on the beam of the lower trim of the frame in the place where the Isoplata canvas should be installed.

Step-by-step instructions for installing ISOPLAAT boards

Sheathing of a frame house

Step 1. Markup.

On the beams of the lower trim around the entire perimeter of the house, a line is drawn, which will serve as a guide for installing the plates. Marking is carried out using a bubble building level, a square, a pencil or a marker.

Step 2. Marking the attachment points of the plates.

If a cladding is planned on top of Isoplaat with a material that does not require a frame (plastering, “wet facade”), marks are made on each canvas at a distance of 15 cm, which corresponds to the attachment points of the plates to the frame racks. The markup is applied gradually, as the next panel is installed.

Step 3. Installing the plates.

Installation of panels lead from the corner of the house. The plate is installed so that its lower edge is located along the marking line drawn in step No. 1. The long side of the panel should touch the corner post of the frame.

The plate is held and fixed first in the middle, then on both sides of it. The number of attachment points depends on further plans for facade cladding.

Step 4. Further installation of plates.

The panels are joined to each other not close, but with a gap of 2-3 mm. This small gap is necessary to compensate for changes in the geometric dimensions of the canvases due to environmental influences.

Step 5. Sealing the joints.

To close the gaps between the panels, either moisture-resistant and frost-resistant polyurethane foam or moisture-resistant silicone sealant is used. After the foam and sealant harden, the excess of these fillers is cut off with a knife.

Sheathing of window and door openings with ISOPLAAT boards

Step 1. Panel cutting.

The cutting of the canvases is carried out in accordance with the design of the building in operation or the project of the building under construction. Cutting of plates is carried out using an electric jigsaw equipped with a file with a fine tooth, or a hacksaw.

Step 2. Sheathing of openings with Izoplat plates.

For sheathing window and door openings, the same installation rules apply as for sheathing walls. The panels are installed at a distance of 2-3 mm from each other. The outer edges of the slabs must exactly follow the lines of the openings. That is, the panels are fixed flush with the corresponding edges of the boards or bars that form the opening.

Step 3. Sealing the joints.

Sealing the gaps between the plates is carried out in the same way: using mounting foam or silicone sealant.

Frameless cladding with ISOPLAAT boards

If the wall of the house is not wooden, but brick or concrete, you can use the frameless method of fixing Izoplat plates. But the possibility of its use is provided only if the bearing base has a flat surface. Permissible differences in depths and heights - within a few millimeters.

This requirement is most often feasible for interior decoration of premises with heat and sound insulating panels. Therefore, the frameless method of fixing Izoplat plates is rarely used for the exterior cladding of a house. But if this is possible, you can use the proposed instructions for installation.

Step 1. Choosing an adhesive.

Moisture-resistant and frost-resistant binder can be used to fix Isoplat fibreboards. These include: glue "Ceresit ST 190" and "Baumit Star Contact".

Baumit StarContact. Annotation, instructions for preparation and application, specifications. Download file

Panels can also be glued with the help of mounting polyurethane foam "Macroflex", "Penosil" and analogues.

Step 2. Applying glue.

A notched trowel is used to apply and spread the adhesive. 25-30 cm retreat from the edge of the sheet and apply a strip of glue 0.3-0.5 cm thick. Another 20-25 cm retreat and the next binder strip is applied. The adhesive should be on the rough side of the board and on the area of the wall where the board will be installed.

Step 3. Fixing the plate on the wall.

After installing the plate to the wall, it must be pressed tightly for a while (indicated in the instructions of the adhesive manufacturer). When cladding the walls of the house for this purpose, you can use long boards that are installed at an angle to the Isoplat panel so that the end of the board rests against the wall.

The final stage of installation is sealing the joints. For this purpose, mounting foam or silicone sealant is traditionally used.

A modern range of materials for construction allows not only to build a new house in a short time, but also to modernize an existing one, making it a warm cottage. Today, this possibility is provided by finishing, sound and heat insulating boards, the use of which is due to their outstanding characteristics. One of the best representatives of this group of materials is isoplat for house exterior cladding, which has a number of undeniable advantages over competitors.

Isoplaat is a soft fiber board, MDVP for short. It is made from soft fibers. Before a tree becomes a material for use, it goes through several stages of processing. First, the raw material is scalded with steam and softened in heated water. After that, they grind, get a liquid fibrous mass and pour it onto a conveyor belt. Vacuum pumps remove excess moisture from the wood "carpet", subject it to hot pressing and dry it in chambers. The last stage - the material is cut into standard sheets from 4 to 50 mm.

Manufacturers claim that they do not use glue. The fibers in the plates connect the natural polymer - lignin . It is found in softwood and is activated by intense heat and pressure..

The main difference between Isoplaat and fiberboards of other brands is the presence of a smooth

side suitable for finishing. Because of this, Isoplaat is considered the most cost-effective alternative compared to drywall, plywood and OSB.

In addition, Isoplaat panels have the ability to absorb moisture up to 20 percent of their own volume. In this case, the plates do not lose their technical characteristics or geometric shapes. And since the panels are made of wood fiber, they are also good and take out moisture and thus provide an optimal microclimate.

In addition, the undeniable advantages of Isoplaat include:

  • high-quality sound insulation provided by the porous fibrous structure of the panel;
  • high heat capacity, which determines the ability to regulate the temperature in the room;
  • excellent acoustic characteristics ensuring the absence of echo;
  • ease of processing - a self-tapping screw can be screwed into the plate without problems or a nail can be hammered in, and the canvas itself can be easily sawn with a hacksaw, a circular saw or an electric one.

It is worth noting that Isoplaat is not without its drawbacks:

  1. Due to the high water absorption coefficient, it is impossible to store the boards outdoors - they must be covered with a dense polyethylene film without fail.
  2. In addition, the panels are not very resistant to mechanical stress, so Isoplate sheets can become unusable due to any pressure, impact or fall. In this case, the broken panel either needs to be cut or completely replaced - and this is an additional financial cost.

Natural wood slabs are excellent at letting steam through from the inside, preventing insulation from sagging and eliminating the need for intensive ventilation inside the home combined with heat loss. The full thickness windshields are impregnated with paraffin, making them waterproof. Thus, these plates prevent wall moisture, insulation shrinkage, and mold.

Isoplaat sheets are used for roof insulation as well as for wind protection of building walls. In addition, there are plates for internal thermal and sound insulation of rooms. Thin sheets (7 mm) have shown themselves well as a substrate for floor coverings (parquet, laminate).

Isoplats for interior wall decoration are also used for outdoor work (wind protection of walls, roof insulation), it is treated with liquid paraffin to improve moisture-resistant properties. It is placed on the wall frame before installing the exterior finish (siding, blockhouse). On the roof, Isoplaat is laid before installing metal roofing, slate, sheet metal or tiles. Roofing and windproof slabs have a "tenon cutter" butt edge. This increases the tightness of the connections and simplifies installation..

The production of panels is carried out according to the technology, which provides for pressing and further drying of wood waste. Don't be intimidated by the word "waste" because the baseboard is the chips, the wood chips that are left over after the boards have been processed. This raw material is pumped into the carpet and processed with water, and then falls under a powerful press. The need for high pressure is due to the fact that plates with the correct density are formed under the press. In addition, a special substance is produced for gluing chips together.

The panel itself is a porous material that can be used for various purposes, including to increase the level of thermal or sound insulation.

As a rule, isoplat boards made of wood materials contain chemical components designed to improve the consumer properties of the material. One of the main advantages of Isoplaat panels is the absence of harmful or toxic mixtures, including adhesives or resins, even with an acceptable emission class. Chip gluing is carried out due to the resin, which is released from the wood under the influence of the press. Thus, the material is completely safe for health, which allows it to be used for both exterior and interior decoration.

The choice of panels from the Estonian manufacturer is very wide. It can be used in seasonal buildings (for example, country houses and cottages), as well as in ordinary high-rise apartments. In some cases, the plate is mounted together with sound-reflecting sheets, which ultimately increases the level of noise absorption, as well as the insulation of the building. Roof insulation is also often made from this material. If necessary, Isoplaat can be used as a base for parquet or laminate.

They produce a very wide range of products, among the main types of which are:

  1. Wind protection boards are the ideal insulation for finishing works carried out outside the building. For their impregnation, substances such as paraffin are used, which provide a good level of moisture resistance. Attics, as well as frame houses made of wooden beams, will be completely protected from various external factors if you use Isoplaat.
  2. Isoplaat insulation boards have found application in rafter installations under tiles. It is designed to heat the roof, muffle the sound from rain, hail and other precipitation. As in other plates of this manufacturer, paraffin is used as an impregnation to give the necessary indices in terms of moisture resistance.
  3. Substrate under the laminate - these panels are used in the interior decoration of the apartment as an additional layer of sound insulation and noise insulation. The panels allow you to correct some of the defects of the rough floor, completely disguising them. This eliminates the need for a screed, which greatly simplifies the entire flooring installation process.
  4. Isoplaat insulation - also used in interior decoration. Perfectly protects the room from the cold from the street, has excellent sound insulation. A great alternative to plain drywall. Another advantage of insulation: thanks to the flat surface, you can immediately paste the wallpaper on top of it.

The Estonian company delighted many consumers by releasing qualitatively new products - plates called Izoteks, which are one of the varieties of Isoplaat. A key feature of the products is the presence of a decorative layer, thanks to which the boards act as the final finishing material on the ceiling and walls. Isoplat for exterior cladding of a house has a very affordable price in Moscow.

Exterior cladding with Isoplaat boards

Isoplaat slabs for the exterior cladding of a house are an excellent option that allows you to solve several problems at once: provide additional thermal insulation and sound insulation of the house, eliminate the appearance of cold bridges and drafts. The plates are vapor-permeable, that is, they pass water vapor, which makes it possible not to retain moisture in the insulation, so the insulation does not lose its thermal insulation properties, and wooden structures do not rot and do not accumulate mold. In addition, the design without ventilation points moves the dew point out of the insulation to the outside in the Isoplaat sheets, which also keeps the insulation dry.

The outer cladding of old log houses with slabs is a universal solution for providing vapor-permeable thermal insulation, the wood does not rot in such structures, but “breathes”.

The design of the wall cladding makes it possible to exclude the installation of ventilation and windproof films: after laying the insulation, two layers of Isoplaat are immediately installed - heat-insulating and windproof. Thus, we get not only a wall covering with an environmentally friendly and absolutely vapor-permeable material, but also additional thermal insulation.

Exterior walls can be plastered with thin layer systems (but the manufacturer has no test reports). In order for the structure to retain its respiratory properties, it is necessary to use vapor-permeable plasters. Siding can also be used as exterior decorative cladding..

Installation of plates on the walls of the building is carried out mainly in a vertical position. That is, in the direction of the length of the plate.

The frame technology provides for the installation of frame racks with a step of 60 cm. Thus, the Isoplaat plate will be located between three pillars. This makes it easy to attach and there is no need for additional cutting sheets.

Windproof or heat-shielding panels are attached to the supporting base using self-tapping screws or nails. The first method is the most preferred, since damage to the plate can occur with a hammer blow. Therefore, when working with the material, it is recommended to use self-tapping screws and a screwdriver.

Since Isoplaat is a soft material, the screw is less than 1 cm from the end of the blade. If the fastener is located closer to the slab slab, it may delaminate or crumble.

If plaster is applied over Isoplaat, the board must be fastened in 15 cm increments to each frame post. But this method is rarely used, since the ventilated facade is traditionally mounted above windshields. Therefore, additional fixation is carried out using wooden blocks, which are packed on top of the slabs used for the facade. In this case, Isoplaat is enough to fix only three places on each post.

Construction clips with a length of at least 32 mm can be used to fasten the panels. With a thickness of 12 mm, the optimal length of nails and screws is 40 mm. For panels with a thickness of 25 mm, fasteners with a length of 70-75 mm are used. For ease of installation, you can use homemade accessories. If you are not sure, use a bar to mark the attachment points of the plates, on which they are marked every 15 cm. The panel is attached to the beam of the lower frame in the place where the Isoplaat canvas is to be installed..

Plates can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Fastening of parts is carried out directly on the wooden racks of the frame. The position of the racks is 0.6 m. The plates are installed with gaps of 2 mm. If the connection of the panels does not fall on the post, then such places are strengthened by installing an additional post or a horizontal core (horizontal ones are fixed in a vertical scroll with inclined plates attached to the posts).

For fastening, galvanized nails with wide hats (“bugs”) or professional paper clips are used.

Fastening is carried out:

  • for all vertical frame frames, step - 10-15 cm;
  • to horizontal additional elements after 10 cm;
  • in accordance with the additional marking in the center of the sheets with a step of 28 cm.

The fastener must be installed at a distance of ≥ 10 mm from the edges of the sheets.

Not later than one month after completion of the installation work, it is recommended to use an external enclosure device. A ventilated gap of 20 to 50 mm is required between the skin and the windproof plate of the formations to allow water vapor to escape from the wall.

For brick, aerated concrete or wooden walls, installation is carried out without gaps and fasteners using special adhesive or shaped dowels. The surface of the plates is made smooth on one side and wavy on the inside.

Finishing of door and window openings is carried out only from solid sheets, the presence of joints in these places is unacceptable.

Ventilated facade technologies (Komak Plat, block house), siding or varieties of vapor-permeable facade plasters (for example, BAUMIT) are used as exterior finishes. It is worth noting that you need to use special joints for priming, a conventional primer will damage the surface of the plates.

Isoplat plates for exterior cladding of a house - material properties and installation technology

Are you looking for an environmentally friendly thermal insulation material that can be used for exterior decoration of a country house? There is such a material, it is environmentally friendly, easy to install, and in addition, it is characterized by excellent heat and sound insulating properties. We are talking about Isoplat plates, which are becoming more and more popular every year in Russia and the CIS countries.

Material Basics

ISOPLAAT (ISOPLAT) is a wide range of insulating materials designed for thermal insulation and wind protection of the house. The product range of the brand includes materials for insulating floors, walls and roofs.

Performance characteristics of ISOPLAAT products

Environmental friendliness. In the manufacture of insulating material, adhesives and impregnations containing phenol are not used. The composition of the insulation does not contain components with a carcinogenic effect.
Insulation against heat loss from the inside. Insulating material in terms of thermal conductivity is comparable to today's popular mineral wool. Therefore, the external wall cladding will make the house more economical and energy efficient.
Heat insulation from the outside. External wall cladding will make the house look like a thermos. As a result, in the hot summer the house will be cool and air conditioning will not be needed. The optimum temperature in the house is maintained for 15 hours, provided that both the walls and the roofing cake are insulated.

Soundproofing properties. Due to the structure with many micro-cavities, fiber boards are characterized by a high soundproofing capacity, which increases in proportion to the increase in the thickness of the material.
Air permeability and hygroscopicity. Plates used as cladding allow air to pass through without compromising the heat-insulating qualities. This quality significantly reduces the likelihood of mold inside the building.

Moreover, Isoplat, passing air from the outside, absorbs moisture from it, and then releases this moisture to the outside. Therefore, in houses with such breathing walls it will be dry.

Bactericidal properties. In the production of boards, starch and sugar are naturally removed from the thickness of the wood. As a result, the finished insulating material, due to the lack of a nutrient medium, loses its attractiveness for microorganisms.

Antiseptic impregnations are not used in the manufacture of this environmentally friendly material!

Ease of installation. Despite the high efficiency of the insulation system, the installation of boards is easier than insulating building objects with mineral wool. As a result, the installation can be done by hand and save on the services of professional installers.

It is important to remember that the ISOPLAAT material is manufactured only by the trade and production association SKANO GROUP (Estonia).

There are no enterprises engaged in the production of these materials either on the territory of Russia or on the territory of other countries except Estonia. Therefore, if you are offered to buy non-Estonian Isoplat plates, be aware that this is a fake.

Are there analogues? Isoplat brand products are not unique and there are plates with similar characteristics on the market. These materials are sold under the brands BELTERMO (Belarus) and STEICO (Poland).

External cladding materials

For the exterior cladding of the house, Isoplat plate material is used, made from coniferous wood shavings mixed with a kind of wood resin - lignin.

The structure of lignin is similar to the structure of reinforced concrete, only here the function of reinforcement is performed by cellulose fibers. As a result, a board of wood origin, with a low density, is highly durable in comparison with other types of insulating building materials.

Illustrations What can be used for external wall insulation?

Wind protection plate. Such insulation is used to protect external walls from strong cold winds. The material is equally successfully installed over solid walls and laid inside frame structures.

The plate is characterized by high bending strength, and therefore acts as a stiffener for the insulated structure.

  • Thickness 12mm, 25mm.
  • Width 800 mm, 1200 mm.
  • Length 2700 mm, 2400 mm.

Heat-insulating (sound-proof) plates. Such insulation is used to reduce the thermal conductivity of external walls. In addition to low thermal conductivity, the plate has a high sound-absorbing and dissipating ability.

Along with the sheathing of external walls, the material is used to fill interior partitions.

  • Thickness 12mm, 25mm.
  • Width 1200 mm.
  • Length 2700 mm.

UNIVERSAL. These finishing modules have a milled thorn-groove lock around the perimeter. UNIVERSAL modules are a universal solution for interior decoration and external sound, heat and wind insulation.

Due to the lock connection, the use of modules is characterized by the complete absence of cold bridges!

  • Thickness 25mm, 50mm.
  • Width 600 mm, 1200 mm.
  • Length 1800 mm.

ISOMODUL. This is another category of universal material suitable for wall cladding and laying in the base of the floor and roof structures. But unlike UNIVERSAL, there is no lock around the perimeter.
  • Thickness 50 mm.
  • Width 625 mm.
  • Length 1200 mm.

Installation of Isoplat in frame construction

How to insulate walls for a ventilated facade? Consider the cladding technology using the example of a frame house. In this case, a 25 mm thick wind protection plate is marked and cut in such a way as to cover the distance between two adjacent posts.

The plates are fastened with galvanized nails or anodized self-tapping screws, and both fasteners are hammered or screwed directly into the frame racks.

If wind protection modules with a locking connection around the perimeter are used, then the cold bridges are blocked due to the entry of the spike into the groove. If slabs without tongue and groove joints are used, additional sealing of the joint will be required.

This can be done using polyurethane mounting foam, which is blown into the seam, where it expands and polymerizes. Sealing with polyurethane foam will not only eliminate the appearance of cold bridges, but also increase the rigidity of the wall sheathing.

After the outer part of the walls is lined, the crate is stuffed for the installation of a ventilated facade. The choice of the method of framing is determined by the type of finishing material that will be installed during finishing. For example, the photo shows a vertical crate for installing horizontal siding.

Since the facade will be ventilated, the crate must be assembled in such a way that a sufficient gap is formed between the finishing cladding layer and the windproof material. To do this, when assembling the crate, it is enough to use a bar 40 × 40 mm, installed in increments of 50 cm.

Fastening of wooden bars is carried out with self-tapping screws directly to Isoplat, the density of which will be sufficient to hold the crate with the facade cladding.

Insulation of external walls under plaster

Is it possible to insulate external walls with Isoplat for subsequent plastering? Yes, there is such an opportunity, but on one condition - you need to use plates with a thickness of 25 mm or more.

The insulating wood board absorbs moisture like a sponge, but unlike ordinary particle board, which swells, the material subsequently releases moisture to the outside. Now imagine the plaster laid on top of Isoplat. The plate is immediately moistened, but in the process of setting the plaster, the insulation will give off moisture, so that the finish layer will not crack.

Insulation of external walls using the frameless method is preceded by the preparation of the mounting surface. The wall is leveled and the relief is completely removed from it. Then the plates are attached to the wall in a run-up with dowel-nails 75 mm long.

At the same stage, a plaster mesh is attached over the thermal insulation layer. Plastering is carried out on a grid in two layers: the first layer is rough, the second is finishing.

Summing up

Isoplat is a modern material, using which you can make your home warmer and more comfortable. If you still have questions about the technology of working with Isoplat insulating boards, ask them in the comments to the article.

What is Isoplat wood fiber insulation, how it is made, types of material, technical characteristics, pros, cons and do-it-yourself installation features.

Description and production of wood fiber insulation

Wood fiber insulation from Isoplat is a special type of thermal insulation that can be used as a building material as well. Insulation under the Isoplaat trademark is produced by the Estonian company Skano.

This material is produced using the technology of drying or pressing a wood-fiber "carpet". In this case, wood waste is used - shavings, sawdust, etc. The ground raw material is treated with water and folded into a "carpet". After that, it is compacted under the influence of a press so that sheets are formed and the production of lignin begins.

If necessary, chemical substances are introduced into the composition of fiberboard that improve certain characteristics of the material. However, for gluing Isoplat plates, adhesive compositions containing harmful phenol-formaldehyde compounds are not used. The fibers are connected to each other due to the natural resins that wood contains. The structure of the finished material is similar to felt.

Further, the material is dried for several hours. Finished slabs are shaped on a cutting machine. The standard size is 2700x1200 millimeters. Thickness can be 10, 12 and 25 millimeters. At the same time, one of the sides of the plate is smooth, which allows it to be used for fine finishing.

Wood fiber insulation Isoplat is a completely homogeneous natural sound and heat insulator. It has sufficient strength for frame housing construction. Soft fiberboards are among the leading windproof materials in the Baltic and Scandinavian countries. In addition, they are considered an alternative to drywall.

Izoplat is used both in residential buildings and in seasonal buildings (dachas, country houses). Also, for greater efficiency, it is used in multilayer structures as a sound-absorbing soft or lining material in combination with hard sound-reflecting sheets.

Fiberboard insulation can be used to insulate roofs (usually chopped), walls, ceilings, floors. It is also used as a substrate for laminate or parquet, which is called "floating". Isoplat is easy to process and saw, which guarantees an accurate fit of the boards.

The main varieties of Isoplat

You can choose Isoplat plates to suit your needs, using a wide range of this universal heat insulator:
  • Roof slabs. They are used for installation under tiles on rafters. With their help, you can perfectly drown out the noise of precipitation and insulate the roof. At the ends there is a milled spike-groove. The material is additionally impregnated with paraffin to achieve maximum non-hygroscopicity.
  • Wind protection plates. Suitable for sound and heat insulation of external surfaces under a ventilated facade. Impregnated with paraffin and completely waterproof. They are used, as a rule, for warming wooden, frame houses, from a bar, as well as attics.
  • Substrate for laminate. This type of fiberboard Isoplat is used for laying under parquet and laminate as an additional layer of insulation. Products are able to even out certain floor defects, and it is not necessary to use a screed or plywood.
  • Thermal and sound insulation boards Isoplaat. Their sphere of use is the internal walls of the house, as well as ceilings. Most often, such plates are used instead of drywall sheets. They perfectly protect against the penetration of cold and extraneous noise. In addition, wallpaper can be glued directly on them.
In addition, Isotex panels are considered a separate group of Isoplat wood fiber insulation. They have the same structure as the first ones, but are covered with a decorative layer, which allows them to be used as the final finishing material for walls and ceilings.

Specifications

Since there are several varieties of Isoplat plates, the material cannot have uniform technical characteristics. Consider the properties of the most common universal heat and sound insulation products:
  1. Thermal conductivity. According to this indicator, the slabs are close to stone wool. The coefficient is 0.045 W/(m*K). A small thickness allows you to save space when insulated with this material.
  2. moisture resistance. Almost all products are treated with paraffin, which makes them non-hygroscopic and resistant to moisture. Even a small percentage of moisture absorbed by Isoplat will not impair the thermal insulation characteristics of the material. Wood will accumulate moisture, but the interfiber space, which is responsible for thermal conductivity, will remain free of water.
  3. Vapor permeability. Natural insulation allows the walls to "breathe". It prevents condensation from accumulating on the surface, removing moisture to the outside.
  4. Soundproofing. The material is able to absorb from 23 to 26 decibels of acoustic noise.
  5. Density. For Isoplat, this figure is from 230 to 270 kilograms per cubic meter.
  6. Compressive strength. Plates have an indicator of about 200 kPa. This allows them to be used for insulating coatings under a soft roof.
  7. fire resistance. Izoplat universal products comply with all fire safety standards. Despite the fact that wood is the raw material for their production, the special structure of the material does not allow fire to spread. On the surface of the insulation, when exposed to a flame, ash will form, blocking the access of oxygen to the place of ignition.
  8. Biological stability. During the production of boards, wood is deprived of components such as starch, sugars, which serve as food for microorganisms. Therefore, mold, rot and fungi will not appear on the insulation.
  9. Environmental friendliness. In the manufacturing process of this heat insulator, harmful chemicals and glue are not used. Therefore, the material will not emit volatile compounds during installation and during use.
  10. Lifetime. The manufacturer sets a warranty period for the plates - 50 years. With proper installation, Isoplat can be used for longer.

Advantages of Isoplat plates

This versatile material for insulation has a lot of advantages. Consider them:
  • Ecological cleanliness of the insulation. The raw material for Isoplat is wood. There are no binders in the composition, the fibers are naturally intertwined and held together by natural resins. Therefore, it is important to use such material for the insulation of wooden eco-houses, as well as rooms in which children and allergy sufferers live.
  • Excellent vapor permeability. Isoplat is able to regulate the humidity inside the building, create a favorable microclimate.
  • High thermal inertia. Plates are capable of accumulating and releasing heat within 14 hours. Thus, the temperature inside the building is stabilized. Temperature fluctuations will not be felt as much when lowering or raising it outside the room.
  • Not subject to shrinkage or destruction. Unlike a large number of synthetic insulations, fiberboards do not shrink or deform over time.
  • Windproof ability. Isoplat plates can also be installed as wind protection. The fiber is located inside the material in layers, along which air pores are randomly concentrated. Getting into the space between the fibers, the outside air loses pressure and speed.
  • Filter properties. Isoplat, due to its structure, is able to retain harmful compounds. This is especially true when using plates in structures with insulation such as expanded polystyrene, mineral wool, which can emit formaldehyde, styrene and other toxic chemicals.
  • Ease of installation. No special equipment is required to install the products. All work can be done by hand. Convenient thorn-groove system greatly facilitates the installation process.

Disadvantages of fibreboard Izoplat

Before you buy this heater, you should study the reviews on the Internet and pay attention to the disadvantages of Isoplat:
  • Increased softness when exposed to moisture. If the material is exposed to water or humid air for a long time, it will become softer. However, when it dries, it will regain its strength and shape again.
  • Relatively high price. Natural materials tend to be more expensive. Isoplat is no exception. Therefore, it will cost an order of magnitude more expensive than artificial insulation.

Price and manufacturer of Isoplat plates

The rights to the trade name Isoplaat belong to the Estonian company Skano. Therefore, if you meet on sale a material with a similar name, but from another manufacturer, then you have a fake.

The price of fiberboard insulation may vary depending on its type. The average cost in Russia is as follows:

  1. Heat and sound insulating plate Izoplat - from 200 to 500 rubles per square meter;
  2. Izoplat windproof plate - from 290 to 1150 rubles per square;
  3. Heat-insulating substrate for Izoplat laminate - from 115 to 200 rubles per square meter;
  4. Facade plates Izoplat - from 1000 to 1200 rubles per square.

Brief instructions for installing insulation Izoplat

Before proceeding with the installation of heat and sound insulating wood fiber boards, it is recommended to hold them in the room where the work is planned for a couple of days. In this way, the moisture content of the material will equalize with the air humidity in the building.

From the tools you will need building brackets or self-tapping screws with a flat head, a knife, a building level, a hammer or a screwdriver.

Isoplaat slabs can be mounted on pre-installed battens or glued directly to the wall surface.

We work according to the following scheme:

  • If you decide to make a crate, then its step should be from 30 to 60 centimeters, depending on the thickness of the slab.
  • For fastening to concrete and brick surfaces, you can use various types of glue - for thermal insulation, gypsum-based, for drywall, as well as mounting polyurethane foam.
  • Glue is applied to the rough surface of the product in stripes or dots along the perimeter. We press the insulation to the surface.
  • Self-tapping screws or nails when attaching the plates to the crate should be flush with the surface and not protrude above the insulation.
  • We fix the places of fasteners with putty.
  • If you fixed the plates with glue, then before decorating it is recommended to go over them twice with glue or a primer (if painting is planned).
As for the heat-insulating substrate Izoplat, for its installation it is not necessary to use either glue or fasteners. It is laid in a floating way using a tenon-groove system.
