On the evening of February 20, 2017, in Peredelkino, at the age of 98, after a long illness, the long-term confessor of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra, confessor of the Most Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II, Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov), reposed in the Lord.

Archimandrite Kirill (in the world Ivan Dmitrievich Pavlov) was born on October 8, 1919 in the Ryazan province.

Father Kirill rarely mentioned anything from his worldly life. It is known only from one interview that he was born and raised in a believing peasant family. But, according to him, "from the age of 12 he lived in an unbelieving environment, with his brother, and lost his spirituality."

In his younger years, he worked as a technologist at a metallurgical plant, and was drafted into the army in the late 1930s. He served in the infantry.

A participant in World War II with the rank of lieutenant, took part in the defense of Stalingrad (commanded a platoon), in battles near Lake Balaton in Hungary, ended the war in Austria. Demobilized in 1946.

During the war he turned to faith. He recalled that while carrying a guard duty in the destroyed Stalingrad in April 1943, among the ruins of a house he found the Gospel, which he never parted with.

After the end of the war, he entered the Moscow Theological Seminary, which was then located in the Novodevichy Convent in Moscow, and later graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy. From that time on, his life was associated with the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.

On August 25, 1954, he was tonsured a monk. In the same year he graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy and was ordained on October 8 to the hierodeacon, and then to the hieromonk.

He was a sexton, then a treasurer of the monastery. Since 1965 he has been the confessor of the Lavra brethren. He was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.

According to the testimony of contemporaries, Patriarchs Alexy I and Pimen confessed to him at one time; was the confessor of Patriarch Alexy II, in connection with which he moved to the Patriarchal residence in Peredelkino. He continued to spiritually nourish the monks of the Lavra, received numerous believers.

In the early 2000s, the elder suffered a stroke, which at first immobilized him, and then practically deprived him of the opportunity to communicate with the outside world. Bedridden, courageously enduring his illness, he did not seek support and consolation, but in the brief moments when his strength returned to him, he himself supported and consoled those around him.

Author of numerous sermons and teachings. Mentor of young monks who took tonsure in the Lavra. He wrote a lot in the epistolary genre, annually sent to bishops, priests, laity, spiritual children and even unfamiliar people up to 5000 letters with congratulations, instructions and edifications.

Hegumen Nektariy (Morozov), nun Natalia (Aksamentova). The quiet light of authenticity. To the 90th anniversary of Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov) / Pravoslavie.Ru
The article was written by the priest's cell attendant and nokiney Natalia (Aksamentova) in 2009
to the 90th anniversary of the elder. For 10 years he has been seriously ill.
Lord, save and have mercy on Archimandrite Kirill !!!

The question of whether there are elders today and if so, how to find them, hears from time to time every priest. Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov), a long-term confessor of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, as a rule, answered this question as follows: “I don’t know about the elders, but there are old people.” Although he was and remains one of those few who can be called an elder not only by age, but also in full agreement with the meaning that this word has been assimilated in the tradition of the Orthodox Church. The richest spiritual experience, false humility and love, genuine impartiality, turning into that dispassion, which is the goal of Christian exploit, success in virtues - these are the qualities that both his spiritual children and people saw in Father Kirill for many years, whom the Lord only once, perhaps, brought to his cell for the solution of a complex perplexed question, for prayer help, or simply - for that consolation that is so lacking in a modern man living in a cold and cruel world.
Probably, even a few years ago there would have been no need to talk about Father Kirill, to explain what place he occupies in the modern history of Russian Orthodoxy. Confessors from all over Russia flocked to his cell in the Patriarchal residence in Peredelkino, from those countries that are called the near abroad, and from those that have been and remain distant. Monastics and clergy, current and former Lavra brethren, laity and bishops, and finally, the reposed His Holiness Patriarch Alexy, came to the All-Russian confessor to repent, to be reconciled with God, to hear the word of salvation. I think that everyone who knew Fr. Cyril at that time would agree that the word of the Monk Niphont of Constantinople, who once answered his disciple to the question of what would be the true ascetics of the last times - who did not perform obvious miracles, came true with amazing fullness and power but prudently hiding themselves among people and walking the path of doing, diluted with humility.
But the Lord was pleased to tempt the precious gold of his righteousness with the last and most grievous and lasting temptation: a little less than six years ago, Archimandrite Cyril suffered a stroke, which at first immobilized him, and then practically deprived him of the opportunity to communicate with the outside world. Practically, but not completely. Bedridden, courageously enduring his illness, he does not seek support and consolation, but in brief moments, when strength returns to him, he himself supports and consoles, exhorts to pray and not to lose heart, and also to take care of his health ...
We publish a modest offering, written for the ninety anniversary of Father, - an article by his cell attendant, nun Natalia (Aksamentova), who has been with him for the last fifteen years and day after day gratefully absorbs that quiet light about which she talks about her father Cyril. Her text cannot be attributed to the genre of memories - Father is still with us, and the time has not yet come for them. Rather, it is a testimony of the miracle that his life remains today, of the power that, according to the word of Christ, appears in the utmost weakness of a body emaciated and thinned by suffering. A testimony so necessary and so important to us.

Hegumen Nektariy (Morozov)
The quiet light of authenticity
It so happened that the stroke happened before my eyes - suddenly, quickly and with a kind of outrageous impudence. Two or three minutes before that I burst into the hospital ward - merrily, noisily, with a backpack, a bag, thermoses ... Father straightened his glasses, joked about my mountaineering appearance, took the Gospel from the bedside table, sat down on the edge of the bed. I gutted my backpack, arranged thermoses with hot food, and told a funny story from our Peredelkino life on the go ... Suddenly he began to lean towards the pillow. With his right hand he took off his glasses, managed to put them on the bedside table ... and collapsed with his whole body on the bed, collapsing on the left side. While the nurses ran after the attending physician, I stayed with him in the ward one on one. I cried helplessly and tugged at my father's sleeve. It seemed that he was unconscious ... But now he, who never ignored anyone's misfortune, opened his eyes again, raised his head, turned in my direction and quietly but calmly and firmly said: "Do not be afraid of anything ... Thank God for everything ...". And his head fell again lifelessly on the pillow. So the line was drawn between two completely different lives - life before and life after a stroke..
***
Judging by the calm courage with which these last words were uttered, what happened did not take him by surprise. It took me and all of us by surprise - those who surrounded and nursed the first eight months after the stroke, and those who did not have the opportunity to serve him practically, but with their thoughts and prayers stayed with us and with him - at his metal crib with retractable sides ... All of us then burst into grief, lost doomed and lonely in our - without him - needlessness, restlessness, loneliness. This is such an amazing human trait in Father Cyril - next to him no one felt unnecessary, forgotten, hopelessly defective. The stroke was not going to give up positions. The sudden, thunderous disaster continued with a difficult and very long feat. A feat of trust and amazing devotion to God. And this feat, as we have been convinced for almost six years now, is God's great care for all of us and His unthinkable mercy for us.
***
No one could have imagined that we would hold out, we will, we will live, we will endure until such a date, until the 90th anniversary. And it is not easy to meet such years without a stroke, let alone a stroke ... Father Cyril's strength is, of course, left. But - I'm not afraid of the paradox - this kind of weakness and powerlessness can only be borne by an extremely strong person. When a weak person is feeling bad, the whole world, as a rule, should know about this “bad”. And even now the priest does not shift his cross onto anyone's shoulders. We have not heard the word "bad" from him yet. There were moments when we even reproached him that he would never ask us for anything, would not complain about anything, would not show a purely human, excuseful weakness in his position. - How can I ... You are not made of iron, - he answered. The skill of respectful and caring attitude to people, their work, the habit of not burdening them with oneself in any way - it seemed like something “taken for granted,” but during the years of his illness it suddenly flashed before us like a diamond.
***
The good tradition of human relationships obliges us to remember events and dates. We send telegrams to each other, arrange holidays for our relatives, give gifts to friends, say words of gratitude to our relatives and friends. And we wish everyone something: happiness, health, prosperity ... But what, tell me, can you wish on the day of the 90th anniversary of a person who is endlessly haggard and endlessly dear to many of us? Of course, there is something to wish for - even if you do not drag out the vigorous polyphony "Many years", even if it is already strange and embarrassing to talk about good health, even if you just sympathetically and gratefully keep silent by this metal bed with pull-out sides ... I remember my own priests the words he said two years ago, when he still had the strength and desire to say at least something: "A man does not need anything except the mercy of God!" This is the story: we, still healthy, strong, still young and strong, need quite a lot of everything - and the top five in exams, and the location of the authorities, and a well-spent vacation, and a beautiful autumn coat ... And he, deprived of absolutely everything, all attributes a normal and fulfilling human life - nothing is needed but mercy. He does not ask for anything - not his previous health, so that he could walk around the garden on a warm summer evening and feed the birds; no more or less bearable vision to see and recognize those who visit him; nor the opportunity to serve along with his dear brethren in his native Lavra; nor the opportunity to independently turn from side to side; ... He who considers himself a sinner does not want to ask God for anything, except for what has already been sent down. Because this sent down is not deprivation at all, but a new gift and a new service. Because - Lord dade and Lord take away. May the Name of the Lord be blessed from now on and forever.
***
The only right that Father Kirill resolutely reserved for himself was the right to defend his own ordinariness, insignificance ... I don't think anyone will remember even one of his revelations about cases of supernatural help to him, about heavenly signs and miraculous phenomena - all that extraordinary, which could put the priest in an exceptional position among people. How upset he was when, in the early 90s, it seems, in "Komsomolskaya Pravda", there was an article about his almost fabulous sagacity! His vexation knew no bounds. The article was really primitive, flat, vulgar, but it did its job - Peredelkino began to besiege crowds of onlookers who wanted to look into the future. Only when he was already paralyzed, he sometimes, as it were, unintentionally tore off the coveted veils from the mystical side of his life, but then he hastily caught himself ...
- You are praying, father, right? - we ask, having discerned his extraordinary state and, expecting to hear, perhaps, something.
- No, so ... I remember now ... - and pretends to fall asleep. However, his monastic vigilance could not be completely concealed from us, who were relentlessly on duty at his bedside day and night. Now he says a prayer of permission, now he lists someone's names, then he tries (when he could still) quietly hum something from the all-night vigil or the liturgy ... All fifty years of his monasticism have passed with people, in public; with people, in remembrance of their sorrows and worries, he remains to this day.
***
As far as I can judge, he never considered himself an old man. But he also did not consider himself the right to refuse the incoming. This gave rise to a great problem - how to make sure that people who want to get to him still visit his cell in Peredelkino and so that the priest has at least some time to rest? ..
- What I can? - He used to say in those days. - Is it just to listen to a person? And he listened ... There was a time, as from noon to two in the morning ... At lunchtime, forgetting to take off the kitchen apron, I resorted to call him for a meal, to our next building. Even if he had no time for food, he always came on time. In addition, he considered it his indispensable duty to take part in the afternoon dishwashing. Without a shadow of gloomy seriousness, without pompous edification - cheerfully, complacently, as if it was a matter of course - he washed the mountain of our dirty dishes and cups (the other mountain my sisters and I managed to hide), and then went to receive people again ... So - every day. And we, too, in the end, began to seem commonplace. Well, father washes the dishes and washes - what's wrong with that? ..
***
Not knowing the priest as others knew him (both forty, fifty, and sixty), I was honored to see only this enlightened old age, radiating joy and peace, incapable of any anger or the slightest irritation of someone else's absurdity ... It seemed that everything is given to him easily, airy, organically to his own nature. But, judging by his own stories, his path in monasticism is the path of rigid, constant and profound self-control. Everything demanded, albeit formless, but colossal labor. He did not allow himself any indulgence that would contradict the Gospel commandments. Another thing is that his exactingness towards himself never led to ascetic severity in relations with others. He really had a very kind and gracious heart. No one could reproach him for callousness and isolation, for the behavior that inexperienced ascetics usually justify with their "exceptional" deeds and detachment from vanity ... love. Not to offend a person, to keep the peace in his heart - this is perhaps the main concern of the father, his key experience for every hour. But how many simply mentally ill people came to him, whom a priori it was unthinkable to please - and Father Kirill obediently listened to the reproaches addressed to him, demands to listen to him again and again, to accept them for confession ...
***
Often the impression was that there was no feat at all. He behaved so simply and easily. There was not a single case when he refused someone, referring to the need to read the monastic prayer rule. It could be assumed that he simply omits the rule. He actually performed it after midnight. When I helped to read the rule, it was significantly reduced. Because I was tired, and he was very considerate of the exhaustion of others and did not allow himself to impose on us "burdens that cannot be borne" ... But he loved this cell rule prescribed by the Lavra charter, he loved it as a source of life-giving moisture. Thus, I was not so much helping as I was depriving him of precious moments of comfort. But in his presence one did not think about it; I just believed that everything that was happening was wonderful. And what else will be - will only be good, bright, kind and endless ... Such as love in his radiant eyes.
***
With him, you always had the right to make mistakes. Moreover, you had the right to have your own opinion. Disagreement did not cause any bewilderment or grief in Father Kirill (at least he did not show grief). He listened with interest and respect to a different point of view and, if he was convinced of its validity, he could change his own. Father Kirill never dominated and did not impose his ideas about life on anyone. After listening to the questioner, slowly asking about the details of the case, he delicately offered his own version of the solution to the problem, and then - our right to choose. Life itself later revealed that his advice was the only correct one. I will not cease to be amazed at the ease with which some confessors can divorce a married couple, send a person who hesitates in their choice to a monastery, or somehow radically and roughly change human destiny. Father Cyril treated a person with utmost care, weighed his every word so as not to offend someone else's pride, not to injure a weak soul. And he didn’t just roughly point out the mistake, but in general he pretended that nothing was happening. He gave a person the opportunity to understand the delusion for himself. No wonder one of his favorite fragments of The Fatherland is the story of Pimen the Great, who did not denounce his brother, who was dozing on the kliros during the service, but who gave him a quiet rest. His ability to prefer discipleship to teaching, obedience to the authorities amazed to the depths of his soul. Another thing is that we ourselves should have guessed sometimes - not so much to share our thoughts with him as to be silent in his presence. The benefits of this were incomparably greater.
***
From the category of ordinary virtues and his monastic discipline. In my memory, there are cases when he had the right to independently make a decision in a given situation, but he called the Lavra to ask the governor's blessing. Once, when the abbot was absent, Father Kirill went to the Peredelkino church to ask permission from the local abbot. When the abbot was not there, in order to receive an approving or negative answer, Father Kirill decided to refuse the proposed event. And this is despite the respect with which the Lavra authorities themselves treated the priest. In the first eight months of a stroke, when his life literally hung in the balance, talk about death, about a possible imminent visit to it, became an integral part of our hospital life. There was a moment when we had to ask the barely living priest where he would like to be buried. Isn't it strange to ask an obedient monk about such things? And he let us know that this is a really strange question. “I have the authorities to order this,” the priest replied.
**
In 2009, Father Kirill celebrates not only his 90th birthday, but also marks the 55th anniversary of his monastic tonsure, 55 years of deacon and priestly ordinations ... These are very serious figures. We must also take into account that too many difficult trials have fallen to the lot of his generation. A person with his biography, who has lived to such years, can only marvel. Here is collectivization, which made relatives and friends suffer, and half-starved youth in an atmosphere of total denunciations and widespread arrests, and the Patriotic War, and the unprecedented severity of the post-war years. And what it was like to study in theological schools and save yourself in a monastery in an atheistic state - and there is no need to talk ... Sometimes you think about what should prevail in the character of a person who has passed such tests and retained not only a human appearance, but also a child love of life? .. Will, strength of character? Yes, they are, of course. Faith and determination? - and they are also present. And yet nothing is firmer and stronger ... a soft heart filled with compassion for the whole world. He did not consider himself a benefactor of humanity; on the contrary, he was happy with his opportunity to do good. He himself was blessed. About three years ago, already bedridden, he said: - I thank God that I had a chance to serve people ...
***

I remember now the years of his confessions in Peredelkino. Our corridors were literally up to the ceiling littered with boxes of chocolates, packs of books and icons - it was an indispensable task to hand over a present to a visitor. Father got a lot of pleasure when there was something to give a person. And the chocolates were distributed to them everywhere: in addition to people who came to him directly, also the janitors, gardeners, plumbers, watchmen, policemen, electricians who worked in the residence, and everyone was asked about health, about current affairs ... That cheerful inspiration with which the father handed you a treat, it was sure to be passed on to your heart. And father Cyril did not stay alone even during short evening walks - someone was sure to "join in" for a conversation.
- How is our father? - Asked me with tears in their eyes policemen, janitors, plumbers, when I visited Peredelkino from the hospital for a short time. The unanswered letters are now grieving in the same way. Now we just write down the names of the senders and give these lists to the altar for commemoration, and before the father carefully worked on each of these messages. Within a month, he had to answer two hundred or more letters, and if this "monthly norm" was not coped with, the number, accordingly, increased ... But today, as never before, I feel this urgent need for his sensitive and close attention to to my soul. And very sorry for others. They sometimes do not receive a fraction of the warmth and attention from their closest ones, which Father gave them in his letters. What is noteworthy: most of all his love and support went to the man-sinner, the poor in spirit who himself considered himself to be such ... Father Kirill was just happy when he met such a soul.
***
... And yet he is with us. And we are in his kind heart. Many, I know, are warmed by the mere thought that there is a cell in Peredelkino, there is this metal bed, specially adapted for "bedridden" patients, there are wonderful anti-bedsore mattresses that provide such a patient with relative comfort ... There is, but no - it lives, our dear, dear and kind Father Kirill prays and commemorates us. When, in that first terrible year after the stroke, he was dying again, and there was talk about a tracheostomy, we were asked to take him to Germany, to the best doctors, as is commonly believed, to the best medicine. His Holiness the Patriarch was ready to cooperate on his part. On his instructions, the Lavra governor came to the hospital to raise the issue of Germany in the same way. Only this time, Father Kirill did not obey. Barely alive, exhausted by pneumonia and painful bronchospasms, he quietly said: "I will not go anywhere." And our doctors in Russia are the best. And then they saved us, and more than once they saved us with God's help over the years. If you now list the names of all the doctors who were directly involved in the treatment of the priest, you get a serious list. From academicians and heads of departments to simple housewives and laboratory assistants. To all of them - a deep bow to the earth. They are the direct "culprits" of the 90th anniversary of Father Kirill.
***
The Lavra brethren will still collect materials about his life, those who have known him for more than a dozen years will compose their memories ... All this will certainly come with time, but today - today we simply keep in our hearts a feeling of gratitude for that quiet, meek light of Christian authenticity that life, deed and even the very appearance of this person radiate on us. The Christian does not perceive human losses quite as losses, and animal panic fear has no place in his soul. It is terrible to lose that thread of spiritual connection that unites us with those whom we love and who laid down their souls for us. But it is in our power - to lose or not to lose.
***
This is how you go sometimes in a tram or subway. There are a lot of people around, the usual Moscow flea market, bustle ... And you have a small book in your backpack, your confessor's favorite book, with which he never parted and knew almost by heart ... The New Testament is called. You open it on any page ... We who are strong must bear the infirmities of the weak and not please ourselves… And you see before you the face of this man, in whose soul any of your bitterness drowned, like in the sea. And you understand that nothing can stop at all when there is such a Word among the earthly. Thank God for everything… How else?

Tells Father Nikolay Sedov:
“One army general told me that when he took a blessing from a sick priest, kissed his hand and went to the door, the elder stopped him and told us to pray to God that he would live as long as possible. As long as he is at least like this, he will live in sorrows - there will be peace. As soon as the Lord calls him, a war will begin.
This general is trying to introduce a reserve into the army. If something happens, we have no one to serve. He believes that it is necessary to serve, as before, not less than three years. "
Elder Cyril honored military service.

“In 1954, on August 25, Ivan Dmitrievich Pavlov, Archimandrite Kirill, was tonsured into monasticism. The acting confessor of the brethren of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Archimandrite Zakhariya (Shkurikhin), tells Elder Kirill.

I am only the acting confessor of the brethren, because to this day, Fr. Kirill (Pavlov) is our confessor. And this is probably one of the reasons why the old man is alive.
Even doctors shrug their shoulders, wonder: how can a person live for so many years when he is unable to eat or swallow.
Nevertheless, the Lord keeps him, which means that he is still needed - his feat of prayer for
fraternity.
There is an opinion that the elder suffers for our sins, for those whom he forgave and allowed without giving penance. Father Kirill took everything on his shoulders, suffering for our sins. He himself always had many illnesses: there is an implant of the duodenal bulb after suffering frequent exacerbations of a peptic ulcer, the priest was operated on for a bilateral hernia, repeatedly suffered from pneumonia, and possibly suffered other illnesses that I do not know about. ... Quote.
Once the elder asked us a question:
- What does “Prayer will be read as a sin” means?
- Probably, they prayed incorrectly, - we answered.
- No, they prayed correctly - said the elder.
- Probably, the prayer did not come from the heart ...
- It came from the heart !!!
- Probably they prayed absentmindedly.
- They also thought I became saints, absent-mindedness is inherent in each of us.
Without guessing, we asked the elder to explain to us.
“I’ll explain now,” said the priest.
At this time, one believer came to him for a blessing. Father Gabriel asked him to do a favor, but the young man refused him, referring to his busyness: - Now I can't, and then we'll see, - and left with these words.
- Now he will go and pray for five hours in a row, but will the Lord accept his prayer if he refused to help me?
You will not keep the commandments of God - there is nothing to bother God with your long prayers, the Lord will not hear you, and your prayer will be considered a sin for you
.
Good deeds will open the doors of paradise, humility will lead you to paradise, and with love you will see God.
If prayer is not followed by good deeds, prayer is dead, - said the elder..

Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov) biography

Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov). Where now? Archimandrite Kirill: sermons. Biography. Secrets. Did you take part in the defense of Stalingrad?

The Kiev-Pechersk Patericon from 1051 is the main source of various facts about the primary Orthodox ascetics. Therefore, we can conclude that the elders flourished on the territory of Kievan Rus for a long time. Some historians, in turn, argue that the strong influence of the elders extended not only to Kievan Rus, but also to the north-east. It is important to note that at that time, the center of Orthodox culture in North-Eastern Russia was the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. It was from this laurel that the pious Archimandrite Kirill Pavlov came from, who in turn was not only a famous Orthodox believer, but also a Hero of the Soviet Union, and a holder of military medals and orders. Some historical information from different times asserts that Kirill Pavlov had a medal for the defense of Stalingrad, which speaks of his great courage.

The man had a great calling in order to serve the Almighty and Orthodox believers. He possessed not only a pure heart, but also personal holiness, as well as a high moral standard. Some witnesses of that time claim that Archimandrite Kirill possessed an incredible gift of perspicacity and showed all Orthodox believers the true path in life, while protecting them from dangers, revealing God's will. Some eyewitnesses also claimed the fact that he could heal people from various diseases of the soul and body.

Biography of the Elder Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov)

Archimandrite Kirill Pavlovich, before entering the rank, was born in 1919 into a peasant family that lived in a small village located in the Ryazan province. Parents in worldly life called the boy Ivan Dmitrievich Pavlov. The parents of the future archimandrite were deeply religious people, therefore they raised their son in severity and faith in the Almighty. At the age of 12, the boy and his brother, the father took to study in the city of Kasimov. At that time in the village, which was located in the Ryazan province, there was no seven-year school. After the boys went to the exercises, difficult times came. During this period of time, Ivan Dmitrievich Pavlov is living a particularly difficult period of his own life. After a while, from about 1934 to 1938, the future archimandrite went to study at an industrial technical school, which was located in the same city where his father and his brother had originally brought them. After Ivan Dmitrievich graduated from an industrial technical school, the state called him to serve in the army, and later, during his service, he was sent to the Far East.

War as atonement for human sins

After Ivan went to serve in the army, after a while the Great Patriotic War began. However, the Elder Archimandrite Kirill himself said that the Lord allowed war only because many different acts happened, as a result of which a serious decline in the moral and moral qualities of a person, as well as lawlessness in society and the state, took place, which is why the Almighty could not tolerate such acts and sent a war to humanity. Only after seeing everything with their own eyes, people turned to the Almighty for help, offering him prayers so that he would moderate his anger and ardor, and send people mercy, grace and take pity on them. Ivan Dmitrievich argued that such acts of the Almighty are inevitable, since people to this day in some way ignore all the decrees and the path prepared for them. Since the Almighty, with the help of the Gospel, showed the Orthodox believers the path they should go, as a result of such words of Ivan Dmitrievich, every person on the planet should think about their own deeds and actions. The man often prayed nonstop for all Orthodox believers.

How the war affected the life of Ivan Dmitrievich Pavlov

Historical information confirms the fact that, having gone to the service, he ended up practically in hell, since he took an active part in the Finnish War, and also covered the distance from Stalingrad to Romania. He fought in the Austrian and Hungarian lands and was an active participant in hostilities with Japan. At that period of his life, Ivan Pavlov, together with other people, not only converted to the true Orthodox Christian faith, but also praised the Almighty in the most terrible moments of his life. Since he was in an area where, without stopping before his eyes, murders were committed, in the cycle he constantly watched death, and the cruel framework of military life forced the future archimandrite to think about the true meaning of life, thus Pavlov began to look for a reasonable solution. It is also important to note that the Saint himself said that at the moment when he had various doubts, he offered prayer to the Gospel, where he could eventually receive all the answers. He himself, recalling his own life path, said that he found the Gospel in Stalingrad after his release. He collected the pages of the divine book from leaflets in a broken house, after which he brought it into proper form. The Gospel did not leave Ivan Dmitrievich Pavlov indifferent and aroused genuine interest, after which he not only delved into reading, but also tried to understand everything that was said in it. Since during the hostilities Pavlov saw many terrible events, his soul was tormented, and the appearance of the Gospel became for him a miracle-working source in its own way, since the divine book contained answers to some questions that he could not find. It is important to note that Ivan Dmitrievich Pavlov ended the war with the rank of lieutenant, however, until the end of World War II, he never let go of the Gospel and carried it in his own breast pocket, ever since he found it in a destroyed house in Stalingrad.

Desire to become a priest

For the future archimandrite, the Gospel became a kind of guide to life, and in especially difficult moments of life, the divine book saved and consoled Ivan. The future Saint claimed that it was the Gospel that brought him in 1946 to the Novodevichy Convent, namely to the Moscow Theological Seminary. After a while, it was in this monastery that Ivan graduated from the theological academy. After a while, approximately in 1954, the future Archimandrite Kirill followed the path of monasticism at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Subsequently, it was here that he was entrusted with the obedience of the confessor of all the brethren of the Lavra. After a while he was ordained to the rank of archimandrite, for his humility and love for the Most High, as well as for his love for the Orthodox Christian faith.

Currently, not a single eyewitness or other historical source can list the exact number of those people who turned to Archimandrite Kirill for help. Since it was previously believed that it was the Saint who could fill the restless hearts of Orthodox believers with spiritual happiness and faith, which later could spread to other monasteries throughout Holy Russia.

It is believed that it was Cyril who became a kind of spiritual father for a large number of abbots and abbess, as well as monks and nuns, bishops, and of course parishioners. Many Orthodox believers and clergymen, reading various historical information, present themselves to Archimandrite Kirill, whose eyes look peaceful, but at the same time affectionate, and a kind, melodic voice should sound from his lips. It is important to note that Archimandrite Kirill Pavlov was the spiritual mentor of the three most famous holy patriarchs.

Archimandrite Secrets

Archimandrite Kirill's main secret is his presence in the defense of Stalingrad. The data refuting this is still not known for certain. However, in the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra, Orthodox believers pass from mouth to mouth a certain historical legend that the archimandrite was one of the most significant defenders of the legendary house of Pavlovs. But historical information and official sources say that a certain sergeant Yakov Fedorovich Pavlov was ordered to keep the defense of Stalingrad. Proceeding from this, having familiarized yourself with a lot of data, information and historical books, there is no convergence in the information, so the names of people are hidden or confused on purpose.

Tell me i died

Archimandrite Kirill Pavlovich does not give a clear answer about whether he was a participant in the battles and defense for Stalingrad. However, in the chronicle materials that are stored in various historical documents, it is recorded that Ivan Pavlov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and that is why he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War. It should be noted that at the same time, he, in no case, wanted to be a member of the Communist Party because of his own religious conviction, that is, faith in the Orthodox religion and the Almighty. Despite his desire, Ivan Pavlov received an award for his own heroic actions, as well as the courage that was shown during the hostilities. It is important to note that due to the fact that Ivan Pavlov received a military award, for a long time he was not admitted to the theological seminary, since the NKVD officials could not allow the famous hero of the Soviet Union and the Red Army soldier to be a clergyman. However, despite persistence and many different obstacles, Archimandrite Kirill Pavlov is the most significant preacher of the Orthodox Christian faith.

And if the Lord allows some trials, you need to resignedly, with joy and hope, with peace of mind in your soul to be vouchsafed to the Kingdom of Heaven. "From the book of the Elder Archimandrite Kirill Pavlov

Recently, the so-called prophecies of Elder Kirill (Pavlov) began to appear more and more often on the Internet. Sometimes there are too many of them, and their authorship raises doubts, do they really belong to our beloved elder? In fact, the main sayings of the elder concerning the upcoming trials by our people, and in particular by the Orthodox people, are collected in the book “THE ELDER. ARCHIMANDRIT KIRILL (PAVLOV) "(compiled by priest Victor Kuznetsov). The latest edition was published in 2012. This book contains the memoirs of the spiritual children of Fr. Cyril, and it is noted that many of the notes were made either during conversations, or, as they say, “on fresh tracks”. Thus, the reliability of the published information seems to be quite high.

One Orthodox Internet user (togiya) studied this book and made a selection of the elder's sayings, believing that they can be considered as the prophecies of Fr. Cyril (Pavlova). He suggests that you familiarize yourself with them in the same sequence in which they are recorded in the publication.

When meeting on the Internet with publications of other prophecies of Archimandrite Fr. Kirill (Pavlova), we will test the sources of their origin, fearing forgery. Why is there such a danger? Because with the help of false prophecies, Orthodox believers can be manipulated, and there are many of them in Russia, if we proceed from faith, and not from visiting churches of the Moscow Patriarchate, which constantly discredits itself.

Thanks to Father Kirill, the whole history of Russia became clear to me. Much has become clear.
Father Kirill does not forget to remind at the end of almost every sermon:

.
“The times are now the last. Sober up, watch yourself ... Like walking dangerously. "

19. Father Kirill (Pavlov)

“Now we need believers to tune and prepare themselves for all kinds of trials and sorrows. This is where it goes.

.
It is necessary that they do not panic, become discouraged and do not despair. And if the Lord allows some trials, you need to resignedly, with joy and hope, with peace of mind, to become worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. "

Only the Orthodox can wait for the last echelon and place great hopes on it. Save, Christ, all those who are faithful to You. Amen
