Landscaping and planning

Modern TVs are lightweight. This allows you to place them not only on the bedside tables, but also to attach to the wall. It is much more convenient and expands their functionality.

For fixing, use special wall brackets for the TV, which, if desired, can be made by hand. But first, you should learn the nuances of choosing a suitable place and making TV brackets with your own hands.

To place the TV on the wall, first of all, you need to create the most comfortable conditions for viewing. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the safety of all household members.

The location of the device on the wall will largely depend on the placement of furniture in the selected room. It is necessary to roughly imagine from what point the household will look at the monitor. In most cases, this is a sofa and armchairs.

There should be no interference on a straight line between a person and a TV, otherwise viewing can hardly be called comfortable.

The next thing to think about when determining a suitable location is a window. If it is located on the opposite wall from the monitor, it will create strong glare - the screen will be almost invisible. For this reason, it is advisable to choose another place for TV, where the sun's rays do not fall.
If this is not possible, then the best way to get out of this situation is to buy tight-closing curtains or window shutters.

To prevent the sun from penetrating indoors during viewing, it is necessary to select materials in the Blackout style - it practically does not let in light, which will make viewing more comfortable.

You also need to consider how often you will have to close windows, including the device. If there are real moviegoers at home who spend a lot of time in front of the monitor, it is advisable to buy curtains with an electric curtain rod.

They can be controlled remotely with a remote control. This is not a very expensive acquisition and this option will add comfort when viewing.

Optimal suspension height

Having decided on the place, you need to choose the correct distance from the floor at which the TV will hang.

The parameters will be slightly different depending on the choice of room:

  1. Hall. In the living room, people often receive guests and relatives, hold various family events, or simply relax alone with their families. In any case, this is a place where a lot of people gather, and therefore they look at the monitor from different points: the sofa usually stands immediately opposite the screen, chairs are located on the sides, and a desk can stand even further. Conventionally, we can say that the middle of the screen should be located at a distance of 70 to 175 cm from the floor level. Usually the TV hangs at a distance of 1.2-1.4 m. When choosing a placement height, it should be borne in mind that the heads of the household should not be tilted forward or backward, as this creates a load on the cervical region, which leads to the spread of osteochondrosis. Opposite the human eye should be only the center of the monitor, or at least its upper third.
  2. Bedroom. The ideal place to place the device in the bedroom is directly opposite the bed. So it will be convenient to look reclining. The center of the screen should still be in front of the person's eyes, but the angle of the screen should be changed to 30 degrees. Thus, a direct view will be created from a half-sitting or lying position. You can experiment and try different positions. If discomfort is felt, then lower or raise the device.
  3. Kitchen area. Small TV units are often mounted to the wall in the kitchen area. Considering the peculiarities of this space, it should be noted that a person who is in the kitchen while cooking listens to TV more than watches it. But at the same time, the screen should be visible in any part of the room, especially from the side of the stove, where the hostess is most of the time. For this reason, the TV should be located as close to the ceiling as possible. Fixation should be carried out with a swivel bracket. Also, experts do not recommend placing the TV near kitchen cabinets - the risk of damaging the screen with a door or an object that has fallen from the stand increases. Additional conditions: the device is not placed near the stove or sink. Otherwise, the device may be easily damaged by hot air or water.

Having decided on the place and distance from the floor, it will be useful to learn how to make a bracket.

We make a bracket with our own hands

If you do not want to purchase a special TV bracket in the store, you can make it yourself according to the scheme:

  1. To assemble the contraction, you will need four corners made of aluminum or other durable material. Do-it-yourself TV bracket will be made from them. You also need to find 1 bicycle spoke, which will be used as an additional mount. It is advisable to look for a corner made of aluminum, since it is much easier to process than other metals. The dimensions are not so important, the main thing is that they exactly match the holes located on the body of the device and on the corner itself.
  2. 2 holes are made in the details to attach the iron to the TV through them.
  3. One hole is also made in the upper part, where the knitting needle will be placed to better fix the TV to the wall.
  4. We connect the finished parts to the TV case with M4 bolts. The remaining pair is securely mounted to the wall (after pre-drilling - 2 holes for bolts, 1 on top for the knitting needle).
  5. Each of the holes made must be ideally located opposite each other so that the device is securely mounted without distortion.
  6. Once all the details are prepared, you can mount the TV device on the wall. To do this, the TV is lifted and combined with the mounts. Next, the needle is inserted. If there are no bicycle spokes, it can be replaced with a regular nail. The larger the TV, the thicker the nail should be.

Making wall mounts and do-it-yourself installation is finished. To simplify assembly, it is advisable for yourself to draw up a drawing with exact dimensions on paper, so that you can then navigate along it.

Difficulties arise when the TV is to be mounted to a drywall wall. This is an extremely fragile building material that may not withstand the load if not properly fixed.

Experts advise in this case to apply the following types of installation:

  1. With the help of a butterfly dowel, provided that the TV weighs no more than 15 kg. This is a 42" unit. Otherwise, the wall will crumble after a short period of time.
  2. Using a magnet, find the screws holding the drywall to the track. After that, you can hang a home-made or purchased bracket to a metal profile that is behind a sheet wall.

If there is any doubt that the drywall will support the weight of the TV set, then it is advisable not to risk it and fix it to the ceiling through the holder.

How to hang a TV on the wall without a bracket

When installing the TV on a wall without a bracket, care must be taken to leave a small distance of a few cm between the wall and the TV unit (most instructions do not indicate this, and therefore you should not forget about it). Thus, ventilation will be created and the TV will not overheat during operation.

Instruction:

  1. In a hardware store, buy metal corners, anchors and metal plates.
  2. The plates should be 4 mm thick - ideal for making a frame that fits exactly the size of the TV device.
  3. In the back of the TV (after removing it), make holes for the grooves where the bolts will fit. The diameter depends on the thread of the purchased bolts.
  4. Four corners are bolted to the frame.
  5. We fix the resulting design to the TV panel.
  6. We securely fasten four corners to the wall with the same distance between the corners that are on the TV panel. The metal corners are already pre-drilled (3) to make it easier to select the desired position.
  7. The corners are fastened together with bolts and nuts.

It remains to check the reliability of fastening. If the TV set does not stagger on the holders, then it is well installed. If in doubt, it is better to remove the TV and fix the anchors more securely in the wall. Otherwise, there is a risk of overturning expensive equipment.

One of the options for placing flat-panel TVs is to mount them on the wall. This solution allows you to save space, while everything looks stylish, modern. But factory-made brackets, despite their great functionality, have one drawback - they are overpriced. Since the bracket scheme is simple, it can be made independently from any materials available. Let's take a closer look at how to do this.

Basic requirements for mounting a TV

Most TVs on the market use the VESA mount system. Based on typical hole spacings (in millimeters), various mounting modules are offered. Usually these are four mounting points, which are located on the rear panel. The "four" VESA scheme is made in the form of a square or a slightly elongated rectangle. The fixing points can already be fitted with standard fixing bolts. If they are not there, then they are in a separate package or with other components.

It is impossible to mount a TV, which is especially important for expensive branded models, on non-standard fasteners. Therefore, the bolt heads are often designed for special tools, and the holes are filled with soft plastic. In such cases, installation of the product on a factory-made bracket must be done by a certified technician. Without his mark in the warranty card on the work done, all warranty obligations are canceled!

When installing standard dowel brackets on main walls, it is recommended to choose steel, at least propylene. For walls made of foam block, cinder block - only propylene. Self-tapping screws with a diameter of 4 mm or more, or such as the first digit of the screen diagonal size (in inches). The depth of the self-tapping screw in the load-bearing wall without the thickness of the finish should be:

  • for concrete walls - 10 mm plus the diagonal size in centimeters;
  • for brick walls - 30 mm plus the diagonal size;
  • for foam block walls - 50 mm plus the diagonal size.

The requirements listed above do not apply to plasterboard walls, since they do not have good bearing capacity. If the sheets fit snugly against the main wall, then the installation is carried out directly on the wall. Then, under the diameter of the dowel head, holes of the corresponding diameter are drilled in the sheet. And having placed a spacer made of a steel bar on the dowels, a 6-sided socket wrench, tapping with a hammer, upsets them until they fit into place.

If the drywall sheets are fixed to the frame and the skin thickness is less than 12 mm, then you will have to look for another place or install the TV on the cabinet. The only possible option is if you know the location of the frame that can be used to attach the bracket.

Fixed wall bracket structures

One of the most common designs is the fixed bracket. The mounting system is very simple, but it cannot be tilted or rotated. The fixed TV wall mount is easy to mount and can be made from any component that is affordable or easy to find.

Consider the option of making a fastener made of wood. Main materials:

  • two wooden planks;
  • self-tapping screws with a ring;
  • hooks and plastic dowels.

We take two planks of hardwood, they have the best quality. The length of the slats should exceed the length of the back wall of the flat-screen TV housing by 10-15 centimeters. To ensure that the screen tilts at a slight angle, we take the upper bar slightly thicker than the lower one. We fasten two self-tapping screws with a ring to the upper edge of each of the planks.

With the help of bolts, which we twist into special holes, we fix the strips on the back wall of the TV. One bar on the top and one on the bottom. Between the rings we measure the distances horizontally and vertically, and transfer them to the wall. We get attachment points. We drill holes in them, install dowels with hooks and hang the product on them.

This wall mount is easy to manufacture and very reliable. Suitable for models whose screen diagonals exceed 26 inches.

Consider another simple option for making a fixed wall bracket. We will install a small diagonal product on aluminum corners and a bicycle spoke. Steel corners can also be taken, but since the loads on the fastening are insignificant, and steel is difficult to process, aluminum is preferable.

Main materials:

  • four aluminum corners;
  • one bicycle spoke 2 mm thick;
  • bolts, screws, plastic dowels.

We select the installation location of the flat TV, the size of the dowels and holes individually, taking into account its size. We fasten two corners with two holes drilled on each to the back cover with bolts. The other two - on the wall with screws. To do this, we apply them to the wall and mark the holes for the dowels on the wall with a pencil. Fasteners are best done with plastic dowels. To connect the corners to each other in the upper side of each of them, we drill one hole.

It is desirable that one pair go inside the other, so we make the distance between the corners fixed on the wall a couple of millimeters smaller than the distance between the corners on the TV. Having attached them in place, we apply the TV to the wall. We expose the holes drilled in the upper side plane of each corner in one line, and thread a bicycle knitting needle through them.

The spoke holds the product in a vertical plane, and the corners inserted into each other prevent its involuntary displacement in the horizontal plane. If the TV needs to be removed from the wall, then we take out the spoke and the connection is disengaged.

Despite its small diameter, the heat-treated bicycle spoke can easily support the weight of smaller models. But for heavier ones, larger diameter studs are needed!

Swivel structures – more freedom of action

Swivel designs provide greater freedom of action: turning the screen in the right direction, its approximation. Some types of designs adjust the vertical angle of the screen, which is necessary when the product is suspended high. Therefore, the swivel wall mounted TV mount provides convenient viewing from anywhere in the room.

Main materials:

  • two metal plates;
  • piece of pipe, square profile;
  • connecting bolts, screws, dowels.

For the manufacture of an inclined bracket, we take two metal plates. The larger the diagonal of the TV, and the greater its weight, the larger the plate you need to take. For small models, we take two plates 20x20 cm, a few millimeters thick. One will be attached to the wall, and the other on the back panel. We install two metal corners on each plate.

In order for the mount to have sufficient freedom of movement in any direction, we install a piece of pipe between the corners. But it is better to use a 2x2 cm square profile, since it will be more convenient to fix it, set it in a plane.

We place a piece of pipe between two corners and connect it with a long bolt. Then screw it onto the plate. The pipe (profile) must rotate freely and not touch the end of the plate.

To the wall-mounted plate, we fix the corners parallel to the floor. This will allow you to change the angle of the TV to the right or left. And the corners on the plate mounted on the rear panel are set perpendicular to the floor. This will allow you to adjust the angle of inclination.

To increase the mobility of the system, instead of one piece of pipe, it is better to use two connected by a long bolt. This will allow you to zoom in or out of the screen, adjust the distance from the wall.

Thus, we can make any type of bracket with our own hands. It does not require special knowledge, and material costs are minimal. Having shown imagination, you can improve the design and make it more interesting, individual. Paint in a color that goes well with the interior of the room. At the end of the work, you can watch your favorite programs and series with great comfort!

How a plasma screen or LCD TV is installed has a lot to do with viewing pleasure. The most convenient way to comfortably watch programs and movies on the big screen is to mount the TV on the wall. Factory-made ready-made brackets are unreasonably expensive, especially for large-screen TVs, so the most rational way is to make a wall-mounted TV bracket yourself. Not inferior to ready-made counterparts in strength and reliability, a home-made bracket will allow you to hang the screen in the most convenient position for you, and if you have the tools and follow simple rules, the whole process from the beginning of manufacturing the bracket to mounting the TV on the wall will take only a couple of hours.

When choosing where to mount your TV, consider the angle of light, the amount of space below the screen to accommodate auxiliary equipment, access to electricity, and the arrangement of furniture in the room. The best would be to place the screen at the eye level of sitting people - in this case, you can use the TV bracket on the wall without tilting. If the TV will hang high or be placed in a corner, then it is worth considering the possibility of tilting the screen in relation to the wall surface vertically or horizontally. Mobile movable arm will make the TV more convenient and adaptable to the "viewing" needs of all family members.

Prefabricated TV Wall Mount

We will need:

  • black paint on metal
  • tassel,
  • two square plates measuring 20 by 20 cm with a thickness of about 1 cm made of plastic, metal or plywood,
  • 4 25 mm corners,
  • metal pipe with a square section of 2 by 2 cm,
  • dowels,
  • drill,
  • long and short bolts
  • nuts,
  • washers,
  • hacksaw for metal.

In one plate in the corners we make 4 holes with a drill for attaching the bracket to the wall. In the second plate, we drill holes according to the location of the mounts on the back of the TV. We cut the pipe into three segments. The first one will be attached to the wall bracket holder, the second one will connect the parts, the third one will be attached to the holder plate on the TV. The length of the segments is chosen arbitrarily. We paint all the details with paint, leave to dry.

We screw the corners symmetrically into the center of each plate so that the pipe placed between them can move freely. We fix each corner with two bolts. On the wall plate we place the corners horizontally, on the TV plate - vertically to adjust the angle of the screen. We fasten the pipe segments between the corners with a long bolt, placing additional washers between the pipe and the corner. We place the central section of the pipe from below between the pipes of the fasteners, connect with long bolts. We fix the plates with fixed pipes to the wall with dowels and bolts, then we fix the bracket to the TV, set the desired angle of inclination and rotation, tighten the nuts on the mounts.

Simple and inexpensive TV wall bracket

We will need:

  • a rail for attaching wall-mounted kitchen cabinets (you can buy it in a store or on the market),
  • drill,
  • dowels,
  • screws,
  • bolts,
  • tape measure and level for marking the wall mount.

We measure the length of the rail for mounting to the TV, break it off along the notch, if necessary, drill additional holes in the rail if the factory ones do not match the TV mounts. For the wall part of the bracket, we break off a rail of the same length. We fix the rail to the TV with bolts. We mark the location of the rail on the wall, drill holes for dowels, fasten the rail with screws. We install the TV, making sure that the grooves in the rails match. This wall mount TV mount will provide maximum adhesion to the surface. If desired, the screen can be moved to the side by moving the TV along the wall rail. If it is not possible to buy a rail, for a small TV you can replace it with wooden planks, in which the contact surfaces will be sawn at an angle to each other, forming a strong gap. This TV wall mount design is suitable for models with a small screen size and light weight.

Wooden wall tv bracket

We will need:

  • a wooden plank 2-3 cm thick and about 7-10 cm wide,
  • saw, 4 self-tapping screws with a ring head,
  • bolts,
  • hanging hooks,
  • drill.

We cut the bar into two identical lengths 15 cm longer than the back of the TV. We screw self-tapping screws with rings at a symmetrical distance from the edge into the upper end of each plank. We drill holes in the slats for mounting bolts, fasten both slats to the TV panel. On the wall we mark the location of the hanging hooks according to the placement of the self-tapping rings. We drill holes in the wall, insert hooks. We hang the TV on the wall. This bracket is suitable for large screen TVs. In order for the screen to be located at an angle to the wall, you can take strips of different thicknesses - the top one should be 2 cm thicker than the bottom one. In this case, the TV can be fixed at a higher level than usual.

The bulky design required a lot of space. The weight of the TVs was also significant. Today, modern television panels are mounted directly on the wall. Saving space and protecting equipment from damage is what manufacturers of numerous fasteners primarily talk about in advertising. Let's talk about how to choose and install a TV wall mount.

A modern TV can be placed anywhere in the room using special fasteners. They are sold in any home appliance store, they have a different look, and can differ significantly from each other in cost.

There are four main types of mounts:

  • fixed exclude turns and tilt of equipment, the cost of such models is low;
  • oblique are considered compact models, allow a vertical inclination angle of 20 °;
  • tilt-and-turn mechanisms allow you to adjust the tilt of the TV so that the image looks colorful from anywhere in the room with a maximum angle of rotation and tilt of 180 °;
  • ceiling with 360° swivel and tilt adjustment, they are ideal for homes with high ceilings.

A wall bracket for a TV is selected after purchasing an LCD panel, depending on what goals the owner is pursuing or. Let's talk about the most common models.

TV wall bracket: swivel retractable

Models of modern brackets allow not only to rotate the screen, but also to push it forward. The rotary-retractable type of fastening allows you to increase the distance from the wall if you plan to move chairs in the room in the future.

Important! On sale today there are mounts that can independently change the position of the TV using the remote control, and their cost will be much higher than that of simple models.

Wall Mount TV Bracket: Corner

Placing a TV panel in a corner is common. This technique allows you to significantly save space in. The angle bracket is a real find. In fact, this is a swivel holder for equipment that can be placed in the corner of the room and rotate the screen at the discretion of the owners.

You can also use this type of holder when placing the TV in the middle of the wall. It is considered universal.

TV bracket on the wall: tilt-swivel

Models of such mounts are considered the most convenient. The ability to rotate the flat screen with a simple movement of the hand, both horizontally and vertically, will be appreciated by even the most demanding user.

It should be noted that the price of such an arm will be higher than that of other models. If the LCD panel functions as a media center and is used frequently, opt for this type of mechanism.

How to choose a TV wall bracket

After acquiring a TV panel, a person thinks about where it is more convenient to install it. At this point, several goals are pursued:

  • space saving;
  • protection of equipment from children and mechanical damage;
  • creating harmony in .

If preference is given to placing the TV on the wall, you will need to choose the right wall mount and install it. The choice must be made according to certain rules. The most important parameter that you should pay attention to first of all is the maximum load. Compare it with the weight of the TV. If the fastener can withstand a load of up to 15 kg, you should not buy it for a panel with a weight approximately equal to this indicator. Despite the fact that all manufacturers monitor the quality of their products, it is worth protecting yourself. Choose the average value, which will be the optimal solution.

The next parameter is the correspondence of the diagonal to the bracket type. Each model is designed for TVs of a certain size. The characteristic will indicate the recommended TV diagonal in inches or centimeters. The ability to adjust is an option for those who need the ability to change the position of the screen.

Additional options: a box that allows you to install a tuner or speakers. The color of the bracket matters a lot. They try to match the model to the color of the TV case. This looks harmonious, although it is not a determining factor when choosing a bracket model. Standard options are white, black, gray and combined options.

Most manufacturers' products carry the VESA mark. When you see such an inscription, remember that the design is made of universal ones, which are made in accordance with the approved standard. Both the wall mount for the TV and the equipment itself must have the same standard, otherwise it will not work to connect them.

The main VESA standards are summarized in the table.

Name of the standard Maximum allowable weight, in kg Recommended diagonal, in inches
MIS-F bolts M8113,6 31−90
MIS-F bolts M650 31−90
MIS-E22,7 23−30,9
MIS-D8−14 12−22,9
MIS-C4,5 8−11,9
MIS-B2 4−7,9

Important! It is allowed to use a bracket for a smaller diagonal, but not for those that are larger than the specified size.

How to hang a TV on the wall

TV installation is a responsible process. It is important that the installation site is chosen correctly, the installation process itself is no less significant. If the work is done with violations, this may affect the functionality of the fastener and lead to breakage of expensive equipment as a result of a fall from a height. For those who are not confident in their own abilities, we advise you to seek help from professionals, which will entail additional costs.

Before proceeding with the installation, it is required to carefully study the instructions attached to each mounting mechanism. Now you can choose a place to place the TV. This moment is the most important.

Location selection

In order for the equipment to be placed harmoniously in the room and not disturb the harmony, it should be placed correctly. To do this, follow simple rules:

  • the length of the diagonal of the screen should correspond to the size of the room, because it is inappropriate to place a large TV panel;
  • if the room has an empty wall, it is appropriate to hang the screen in the middle, it will serve as a kind of decor;
  • LCD panels are placed away from (including), as well as from direct sunlight;
  • located near the attachment point, otherwise the protruding wires will spoil the appearance of the room;
  • TV should be comfortable to watch because of or.

The presence of shelves for related devices is also important. All elements must be in harmony.

TV installation height

An incorrectly determined installation height will cause headaches, redness in the eyes and even a sharp deterioration in vision. The standard height for placing the device is 70-100 cm from the bottom edge to the floor.

When placing the device in the kitchen, the same rules should be followed. You can install the mount almost under the ceiling. This is appropriate if the room is long and the table is placed in the opposite corner.

TV installation: step by step instructions

Not everyone knows how to hang a TV on the wall with a bracket. Installation of equipment is carried out in the following order:

  1. A place for wall mounting in the form of a plate is selected, appropriate marks are made with a simple pencil (you can draw a line that will correspond to the lower edge of the mounting).
  2. Having attached the part to the wall, mark with a pencil the places for drilling holes.
  3. The drilling process will take 2-3 minutes, for which you will need a puncher or drill, after which the dowels are hammered or (consider the diameter of the anchor bolts or dowels when drilling).
  4. With the help of bolts, the plate and the bracket are securely attached to the wall.
  5. In order to hang the TV, you will need additional help.

Important! In order for the TV to hang evenly, use the building level when drawing the first conditional line of the lower edge of the mounting plate. Do not forget that there may be hidden wiring in the places of drilling.

Often, complete with the mechanism, the manufacturer inserts a template with which markings are made for drilling holes in the wall. In this case, the installation of the TV on the wall is greatly simplified. Do not connect the appliance until it is securely fastened.

Buy a TV wall mount or make your own

The bracket design itself is simple, especially when it comes to the fixed type. To be honest, we rarely change the position of the screen, we put it forward, therefore, if we have the tools, it is quite possible for everyone to make a wall mount for a TV on the wall with their own hands. Some craftsmen are able to create a tilt-swivel TV bracket. We will tell you how to make a fixed simple type of holder, as well as a swivel mechanism.

Making a TV bracket on the wall with your own hands

The minimum price of fixed-type fasteners in the store will be 700 rubles. To avoid spending, let's try to make the simplest mechanism on our own.

A hand-made swivel TV mount will be invaluable for the master. Let's start with instructions on how to make it. Work begins with the manufacture of a plate to which a monitor will be attached in the future. It can be cut out of metal with a thickness of 3-5 mm, depending on the weight of the equipment. The longer the diagonal of the screen, the higher the area of the holder plate. It is easy to navigate through the holes on the back cover of the TV. They are also made in the plate.

One or two lugs are welded to the plate, which will connect the plate to a piece of rectangular metal pipe. The length of the pipe is determined independently, depending on how far you want to move the monitor from the wall. A hole is made in the pipe, after which it is connected to the plate through the ears with a bolt.

The swivel mechanism is easiest to make from two hinges. One of them is tightly welded to the pipe, and the other to the wall holder plate, in which holes are pre-drilled for fastening to the wall. Once the work is completed, installation can be carried out.

The final stage is the primer of the mechanism and painting. Gray and black paint will hide all the flaws. The swivel TV mount is ready. It can be safely introduced to friends. In the presence of other parts, corners, pipes, everyone is able to make a similar wall mount for a TV.

As for the fixed type mechanism, it is even easier to make it. To do this, you need to combine two plates for mounting on the wall and television using welding, bolts or another element. Sometimes it is appropriate to build a wooden holder.

The easiest way to make a fixed bracket is presented in the video tutorial:

We draw your attention to the fact that you can independently make a mounting mechanism even for a large-screen TV. It is important that the structure itself can withstand the weight of the equipment. If products are tested at the factory, their actual capabilities are calculated using complex calculations, then this cannot be done at home.

Not many people know that you can hang the screen on the wall without using a bracket.

How to hang a TV on the wall without a bracket

Before starting work, you will need to clarify a number of details:

  • is it possible to hang this particular TV model without a bracket;
  • what is the weight of the equipment;
  • choose a location for installation.

You can not hang TVs:

  • with connectors located on the rear wall;
  • without grooves for bolts on the body.

Hanging a small TV can be very easy: for this, a hook and bolts are used, screwed into the wall. The principle is to hang the technique like a frame

Massive boxes with kinescopes are a thing of the past. Modern televisions have become much lighter and thinner than their predecessors. Now mounting the TV on the wall is a popular method for allocating space.

This page is about how to hang a TV with a bracket on the wall. The TV on the wall looks good, and the decor in the room is not overloaded with extra bedside tables and cabinets. However, in no case should you hang the TV on ordinary nails. The TV wall mount should be as strong as possible. Therefore, fasteners must go deep into the load-bearing wall.

Types of brackets

A special holder for a TV device is called a "bracket". This device is designed to properly mount the TV on the wall.

Wall-mounted TV looks aesthetically pleasing and saves space in the house. In order to further optimize the technology of mounting the TV on the wall, various designs for wall mounts are being developed. Manufacturers produce a range of devices for wall mounting devices.

TV wall mounts are of the following types:

  • The fixed bracket is the easiest and most secure wall mount for your TV. In the design of this type of TV mount, there is practically nothing to break.
  • The tilt wall bracket must be installed if you place the TV at eye level. The tiltable arm allows you to save space in the room, as well as watch TV in comfort and without straining your neck. You can choose the angle of inclination that suits your situation.

  • Tilt-swivel - used to mount the TV to the ceiling. The device is equipped with a mechanism that allows you to rotate the structure to any point in the room.

  • Ceiling mounts for TVs.

  • TV stand. Mobile device, a kind of stand for the screen. The design can be moved around the room and freely rotated in any direction due to the fact that it stands on rollers.

IMPORTANT! Please note the maximum weight capacity of the TV bracket you purchase. To insure, it is better to provide a safety margin of 50 percent.

It is recommended to hang the TV on brackets so that the distance from the floor to the bottom edge is from 0.7 m to 1.2 m. Let your gaze fall on the middle of the screen, preferably one third from the bottom edge of the device.

IMPORTANT! To install a DIY TV bracket, you may need to involve several people. Contact the experts to ensure that the TV is securely fixed to the wall. If you want to personally mount the TV on the wall yourself, get the help of a partner.

Bracket installation

To install a TV bracket with your own hands you will need:

  • perforator;
  • dowel screws;
  • drill;
  • screwdriver and bolts;
  • building level (sometimes also called "spirit level");
  • roulette;
  • any branded item for marking;
  • fastening elements.

IMPORTANT! Make sure that the diameter of the drill matches the selected screws.

Steps for installing a wall mount TV bracket:

  1. Make markings on the wall using a tape measure and spirit level.
  2. Take a puncher and make holes for the fasteners.
  3. Fix the base of the bracket to the wall with dowel screws.
  4. Place the bracket rails on the TV. Screw them in.
  5. The bracket on its basis has special grooves. Place the guides in the grooves.
  6. and supply power to the device.

If you are installing the unit on a non-split TV bracket, screw it to your unit first. Then put the whole system on the dowels.

IMPORTANT! Even if the distortion when fixing the TV bracket with your own hands seems insignificant, after a while it will lead to the collapse of the structure. In this case, the television set will be broken. Make the markup as straight as possible.

Without bracket

How to hang a TV without a bracket? Many manufacturers produce devices with slots already installed on the rear panel. This feature can often be found on devices from 42 inches diagonally. The main condition for hanging the unit on the built-in grooves is that the TV mount on the wall must support the weight of the device. If the load on the fasteners is too great, the expensive device will simply fall and break.

Make your own bracket

There are many ways to mount the TV on the wall with your own hands. Let's consider one of them. To make a wall mount for a TV with your own, you will need:

  • 4 metal corners;
  • a bicycle knitting needle or a large-headed nail;
  • plastic dowels;
  • drill;
  • plastic box for wires;
  • building level.

To make a reliable DIY TV mount, choose the right materials for fasteners and corners. Aluminum corners will be easier to work with. Decide on the width of their sides. The corners will set the distance separating the fixture from the wall. This distance must be sufficient for normal ventilation of the rear wall of the appliance. If the device is poorly ventilated, the device will inevitably overheat and quickly fail.

Choose stronger dowels to ensure the most reliable mounting for the TV on the wall. If something goes wrong, the gimbal will collapse along with the TV set.

The process of mounting the TV on the wall:

  1. Drill 2 holes on two corners for mounting to the TV. Make sure that the location of the holes matches the desired locations on the back of the machine. The length of the corners is not as significant as the width. The main thing is that the length is enough to make the necessary holes. Make sure that all the holes you make are located strictly opposite each other, otherwise the device will hang crookedly.
  2. In the upper part of the corners, which is perpendicular to the side of the attachment to the TV, make one hole for the bicycle spoke.
  3. When these corners are ready, fix them to the TV unit with screws. You can put TV mounts on M4 screws.
  4. Take another pair of corners. Make holes in them for mounting the TV on the wall, at least two. Calculate the optimal number of holes based on the weight of the device. For heavy devices, more holes will be needed, otherwise a homemade TV bracket will not withstand the load.
  5. Drill holes for a bicycle spoke on the other side of the corners, at the top.
  6. Make a mark on the wall using the holes in the corners. The distance between the corners should be slightly less than between the parts fixed on the back of the device. The corners on the panel should cover the wall corners from the outer sides.
  7. To place the parts on the wall more evenly, use the building level. If the markings are not straight enough, the TV will fall off the bracket. Perhaps the wall will also be damaged.
  8. Plastic dowels come in handy to secure the aluminum corners to the wall.
  9. Raise the appliance to the level of the corners and align the fasteners.
  10. Thread the bike spoke through the holes. Remember that these holes must be at the same level relative to each other. The needle can be replaced with thick nails, the length of which is approximately 100 mm. To prevent the nails from jumping off the bracket, they need to have a hat with a diameter greater than the size of the holes.
  11. Fix fastener.

Similar working principle:

A PVC box is needed to safely remove the wires from the TV into it. How do I remove the TV from this type of wall mount? Bend back the tops of the nails, gently supporting the expensive appliance from the bottom or sides.

Another method for assembling a TV bracket with your own hands, on a wooden rail and 4 hanging hooks:

  1. Take a wooden rail with a cross section of 3 to 10 cm. Divide it into 2 equal segments corresponding to the width of the device. If you need to set the slope when mounting the TV on the wall, make the bottom rail thinner by one and a half centimeters.
  2. Take 4 self-tapping screws with ring heads. Screw 2 screws into the ends of the rails, not too close to the edges.
  3. Use a drill to make holes in the rails for fastening to the device. Fix the wooden planks to the device.
  4. Mark the wall. It will need to make holes for the rings at the ends of the screws.
  5. Drill the required holes.
  6. Fix the hanging hooks in the holes.
  7. How to hang a TV on the wall with a wall bracket of your own making? Lift the device and put the rings on the hooks. The wall mount for your device is ready.

How to remove the TV from the wall bracket? Just lift the device so that the hooks pop out of the rings.

Fixing the bracket to the plasterboard wall

If drywall is used as a cladding, you can fix the bracket to the wall with a long hairpin-screw. Drill holes for the screws in the drywall sheet and on the load-bearing wall behind it. The deeper the anchor goes into the load-bearing wall, the more reliable the TV mounts will be.

If the drywall is located at a fair distance from the main wall, it will be easier and more reliable to mount the bracket on the metal guide profile of the frame. Use a strong magnet to find the drywall screws that hold the profile together.

A wall mount for a small TV allows some liberties. Light appliances, weighing less than 15 kg, can be fixed to the wall with a butterfly dowel. If the weight of the device is greater, the drywall will not withstand the load and the wall will collapse. However, devices with a diagonal of 32 or 42 inches often have a weight in the range of 15 kg.

If a drywall sheet is used as a full-fledged partition wall, you should not hang the device on it. What's more, making drywall TV mounts can be dangerous. It is better to buy a special rack for this device. Also consider installing a special TV mount close to the wall, the weight of which will fall primarily on the floor. Screw pipes to the wall or elongated cut from chipboard to fix the TV bracket on them. However, making a TV mount on a wall that does not have high strength is still not worth it. Consider mounting your TV to the ceiling instead.
