Who would not want an unobtrusive and pleasant aroma in the house, and that at the same time it was absolutely harmless to our health and the health of children. Store-bought air fresheners are not very good in composition, and the smell from them does not last long. Why not make your own freshener from natural oils? The smell can be made to your taste, based on your own preferences.

So, we suggest you make your own scent diffuser. Now such diffusers are in many homes, but they are not so cheap. Homemade flavoring will cost you less. It can also be placed in the car or on the desktop in the office.

You will need:

  • empty small jar;
  • Bamboo sticks (available at hardware stores)
  • vegetable oil;
  • essential oils of your choice.

How to do?

You just need to mix a little vegetable oil in a jar with your favorite essential oils (you need as much essential oils as you think are right), cut off the sharp ends of bamboo sticks and make the edge a little like a brush. We insert the resulting sticks with brushes down into a jar of oils. The more sticks there are in the jar, the more intense the smell. That's all. And it is completely harmless to health.

The diffuser can also be a stylish decor in your rooms.

We have to deal with unpleasant odors every day. Therefore, air fresheners for an apartment have firmly entered our life. After use, they instantly fill the room with aroma, where a fraction of a second ago you did not want to be because of the unpleasant smell. What kind of air fresheners are there, and which type is most preferable?

The following types of air fresheners are available today:

  • Aerosol in cans;
  • Toilet blocks;
  • Aroma crystals;
  • Automatic boxes with built-in cylinder.

Automatic air fresheners for an apartment, in turn, are divided into power-operated and powered by batteries or rechargeable batteries. There is also a type of freshener in the form of a flash drive, which are connected to a computer via a USB port.

Aerosol cans

This type can be called the parents of modern air fresheners, which have not yet lost their relevance. A can filled with a fragrant aerosol is easy to use: you press the button, hold it for a few seconds, directing the spray jet in different directions, and that's it. The air is clean! The only inconvenience is that you need to spray the spray manually. If the balloon is in the toilet room, then it is unhygienic - grab onto it after each procedure.

Important: in cylinders, they are recognized as the most harmful due to the fact that the spray gets not only into the lungs, but also on the skin. This is fraught with allergies, which are most susceptible to children. With increased sensitivity to the composition of the aerosol, you may find an allergic rhinitis and rash, to which a constant urge to sneeze and watery eyes will be added.

Toilet blocks

These are easy-to-use air fresheners, produced in the form of a box with slots, inside which there is a gel or scent balls. The box is hung from the inner wall of the toilet bowl using a special hook or simply fixed as a sticker. Each time after flushing, water enters the box and takes with it part of the fragrance, carrying it around the toilet room.

The blocks combine the aroma source with a disinfectant. Therefore, their use in toilets is very important. You just need to be careful when installing the block: you cannot touch it with your bare hands, because the composition inside is harmful in direct contact.

Aromatic crystals (gel fresheners)

The body of the freshener is a frame made in the form of a crystal. A fragrance cartridge filled with gel is installed inside. The frame is placed on a flat surface, be it a table, shelf or even the floor. The gel slowly evaporates and carries the fragrance around the room. And so that the concentration is not too high and harmful to humans, it is important to place the aroma crystal in a room with good ventilation. The disadvantage is the stains it leaves behind on light-colored surfaces.

Automatic air fresheners

This is a new generation of air fresheners in a beautiful box. A small spray bottle is installed inside it, which sprays the aroma automatically according to a given program. The program can be configured to work in several modes (day / night) or even taking into account the activity in the room. In this case, spraying can be activated when the light comes on or when you move in front of the box: all this can be recorded by advanced air fresheners for the apartment using built-in sensors.

A striking representative of the line of electronic models is the Air Wick automatic air freshener. Let's consider it in more detail.

About Air Wick air fresheners

The main advantage of these air fresheners is the automatic spraying at a predetermined time interval. There is no need to press a button after every hygiene procedure to fill the room with aroma. Therefore, the device is ideal for installation in public toilets. The Air Wick Freshmatic automatic aerosol air freshener is also used in shops, cafes, offices and apartments: in the washrooms, in the kitchen and in the living room.

Important: Do not install air fresheners in the children's room, because the constant inhalation of chemicals can lead to the development of an allergic rhinitis or bronchial asthma. This should not be done especially if an air purifier is already installed in the nursery, which converts oxygen into ozone. When aromatic substances come into contact with ozone, a chemical reaction occurs with the formation of compounds that are very harmful to health.

How to use

The freshener kit includes:

  1. Minimalist plastic case;
  2. Aroma spray can, installed inside the body;
  3. Alkaline finger-type batteries.

Each set with an Air Wick automatic air freshener comes with an instruction manual detailing the assembly and commissioning of the device. But there are some rules about which there is nothing:

  • Choose a scent based on the place where the automatic air freshener will be installed. For washrooms, fresh, pine, and cool scents are suitable. For the living room, floral or fruity aromas with woody notes are more suitable - just like a perfume. And in the kitchen, you can pick up fruit scents or such original ones as chocolate, apple strudel and others - they increase the appetite;
  • The spraying interval of the Air Wick automatic air freshener is adjusted according to the area of the room. For small rooms it is enough 1 time in 30-35 minutes, for medium - in 20-30 minutes, and for large - in 10-20 minutes;
  • If you need to flavor the air in a large room, then you can put two flavorings opposite each other. Then the aroma will be evenly distributed in the room.

Tip: If you can't find a place to put your automatic sprayer, hang it on the wall. For this, special holes are provided behind the body.

Advantages and disadvantages of Air Wick air fresheners

To understand how easy it is to operate the Air Wick, consider its advantages:

  • The most important thing is automatic spraying;
  • An equally significant plus is the ability to configure various spray modes and create entire programs depending on the time of day or other factors;
  • The price of the Air Wick automatic air freshener is low - from 350 to 450 rubles per set;
  • A wide selection of aromas - from light, unobtrusive to tart woody compositions;
  • One 250 ml spray can is enough for 2,400 sprays. With an interval of 32 minutes, this is 50 days of work without human intervention;
  • Thanks to the dispenser, a minimum amount of aerosol is sprayed. A person is usually located far from the point of spraying, so the harmful effects of chemicals are minimized;
  • Thanks to battery power, the automatic air freshener can be installed anywhere, even where there is no electricity;
  • The case, made in a minimalist style, is easily lost among household appliances and other items, without damaging the interior of the room.

The disadvantages include the need for periodic replacement of the cartridge, which is purchased separately. However, any type of air freshener has this drawback - as soon as it ends, you need to buy a new one. Another disadvantage is the need for regular battery replacement, but this can only be done once every few months.

The problem of unpleasant air in the room is familiar to everyone, but you really want the house to smell fresh. Today the choice of air fresheners and fragrances is huge. Store shelves are full of different aerosols, sprays, crystals and bottles with odorous liquid and gel for different tastes and wallets. But, despite all this variety, there is often a desire to make a freshener with your own hands.

Why is it necessary to create do-it-yourself air fresheners

Everyone who cares even a little about the health of their loved ones, the question arises: "How do all these fresheners and" odors "affect the human body?" After all, I would like not only to surround myself with pleasant smells, but also to be sure of their safety. This is especially true for young children and allergy sufferers.

The fact is that the composition of purchased fragrances and air fresheners includes oil refined products, which are carcinogenic and pose a danger to our body and the health of pets. The most dangerous are aerosols - many of them not only contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer, but can also cause various diseases of the lungs, bronchi and other organs. Being in a room in which such a "freshener" has been sprayed is the same as being in a delayed-action gas chamber.

Therefore, the most correct option would be to make air fresheners and fragrances with your own hands from harmless and even useful ingredients. There are many options, and even a child can cook them.

This is how natural home air fresheners can look "delicious"

Options for creating natural air fresheners for your home

Consider different options for homemade air fresheners for the living room, bedroom, hallway, kitchen, bathroom and toilet, and also learn how to make "odors" for car interiors. And most importantly - do it yourself and only from environmentally friendly and beneficial ingredients for the body.

Flavors for the apartment

To make your own air freshener, you'll need your favorite essential oils, strong-scented dried flowers, dried citrus peels, fragrant plant sprigs, and even some spices. Since even such a natural ingredient as essential oil can cause allergies, we strongly advise you to first make sure that the aroma of a particular plant is tolerable.

DIY gel air freshener made from gelatin and essential oils

The most "long-lasting" air freshener. To decorate and enhance the aroma, you can safely use dried flowers, for example, a violet, rose or peony, dried citrus peels, as well as various beads, pebbles, shells and ribbons for decoration. Also, take care of a beautiful vase or jar that will contain the fragrance.

Advice: choose a container made of transparent glass or plastic - this will show all the "beauty" if you decorate the fragrance with decorative elements.

So, you will need:

  • boiling water - 1 glass;
  • gelatin - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • glycerin - 1-1.5 tbsp. spoons;
  • food coloring - 1/3 teaspoon;
  • essential oil.

You don't need expensive ingredients to make a homemade gel freshener

Gelatin is needed to create a gel-like consistency, and glycerin will prevent the fragrance from drying out quickly. The food coloring will give the resulting gel a beautiful color. You can also add a cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground if you like the smell. You will need a little oil, only 5-10 drops for a moderate aroma and 15-20 - for a stronger and more intense one.

After you have prepared a suitable container and all the ingredients, proceed to action.

  1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil and remove from heat.
  2. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water and cool slightly.
  3. Add dye.
  4. Add cinnamon (optional).
  5. Pour in glycerin.
  6. Add essential oil.
  7. Pour the resulting liquid into a container.
  8. Put decorative items, flowers, peels, aromatic herbs.
  9. Leave to cool for 2–2.5 hours.

Here is such a nice "jelly" if you add dyes of blue, green and orange colors

After the freshener has set, it will turn into a dense jelly. Of course, you can leave everything as it is, but we advise you to connect your imagination and decorate the jar. This will create a fragrant home decor that will not only give a unique aroma to the room, but also decorate it.

By the way, according to the same principle, you can make a "New Year" air freshener, using oils of coniferous trees, twigs and cones for decoration.

You can extend the life of the freshener if you notice the gel starts to dry out. Lubricate the surface of the gel with a few drops of essential oil and glycerin, and it will delight you with a fresh scent for a long time.

Soda freshener

A very simple freshener option. You will need:

  • a small glass or plastic jar with a lid (250 ml);
  • soda - 1 tbsp. a spoon;
  • essential oil - 30-40 drops;
  • foil;
  • stationery gum.

Unlike gel, this flavoring will take a few minutes to prepare.... Do the following:

  • pour soda into a container;
  • measure out 30-40 drops of any essential oil;
  • mix baking soda with butter until smooth;
  • pull a piece of foil over the neck of the container and secure with an elastic band;
  • use a toothpick to make many holes in the foil;
  • cut the ends of the foil in a circle;
  • close the container with a lid.

Soda freshener is unpretentious in appearance, but very fragrant

For this version of the freshener, no food coloring was needed, since each essential oil has its own color, although if you wish, you can "tint" the soda and even add flower petals there. Due to the large amount of oil, such a fragrance can have a rather concentrated odor, so we do not recommend keeping it open all the time. You can experiment with the amount of oil, and if you use a container made of flexible plastic, then with a few taps, the fluids will penetrate through the holes into the room and fill it with fragrance and freshness.

Salt and Petal Fragrance

For this option, we will "can" beautifully smelling flowers, petals and fragrant herbs.

In addition to flowers and herbs, you will need:

  • glass jar with a screw cap;
  • ordinary kitchen salt - approximately 500 g, but less will be needed;
  • alcohol or vodka - 50 ml;
  • a few drops of essential oil - optional.

Eco-friendly and safe air freshener with salt

When you have prepared all the components, you can get to work.

  1. Pour flowers on the bottom of the jar - 1-1.5 cm.
  2. Cover the flowers with salt in one layer.
  3. Alternate flowers and salt until the top is about 1 inch (2.5 cm) away.
  4. Add alcohol and close the jar tightly with the lid.
  5. Shake well so that the entire contents are saturated with alcohol.
  6. Place in a dark place and do not open for 2 weeks.
  7. Shake the jar every few days.
  8. After 2 weeks, open the jar and pour the fragrant mixture into any container.

Don't worry about the smell of alcohol. The characteristic smell will quickly disappear, and the magical scent of flowers will fill the room. Vases, bowls, glasses can be used as a container for the flavoring agent.

The only drawback of this fragrance option is that you have to wait for two whole weeks, but then your home will be filled with garden scents for a long time.

Freshener in a spray bottle with essential oils

The simplest version of a freshener that will help refresh and fill the air with aromas in a matter of seconds at the right time. You will need:

  • essential oils;
  • clean water (preferably distilled);
  • conventional spray bottle.

You can use a spray from an old cosmetic product (for example, hair spray) or from an out-of-pocket air freshener. If you are using an old spray, be sure to wash it well. You will choose the amount of essential oil yourself, focusing on your own sense of smell and the size of the container. For half a liter of water, we suggest taking 10 drops of oil, and then proceed at your own discretion. You will need just enough water to shake the bottle before use.

Such a freshener is suitable for any room in the house: living room, bedroom, kitchen and even bathroom. You can buy multiple diffusers and make a fragrance for each room by adding different fragrance oils. For the hallway, you can take rosemary or cedar essential oil, for the living room - orange, grapefruit, ylang-ylang; for the bedroom - lavender or patchouli. In the bathroom and toilet, feel free to use spruce, cedar or lemon oil, and in the kitchen - orange, geranium, and mint oils.

Use your favorite essential oil to make a wonderful home freshener.

Baby Body Oil Fragrance

You will need the following ingredients:

  • baby body oil - 150-200 ml;
  • vodka - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • essential oil 5-10 drops;
  • wooden skewers;
  • glass vase;
  • decor as desired.

Oil, unlike water, practically does not evaporate. This fact is of great importance, since this flavor variant will be "open". As for wooden skewers, wood is known to be capable of absorbing liquid and aromas.

Regarding the capacity, you will need a transparent vase with a wide neck, and since it will also act as a decoration, take care of decorative stones, balls, ribbons and other decorations.

So, let's get down to business:

  • pour baby oil into a vase;
  • add vodka and essential oil;
  • mix everything well;
  • dip the skewers into the vase - the more, the better;
  • turn the sticks over after 3 hours and your freshener is ready.

While the sticks are absorbing the "odors", you can start decorating the vase. After 2-3 hours, the skewers are completely nourished and then they will exude a magical aroma for a long time.

This homemade room fragrance will last at least 3 weeks. All you need to do is turn over the skewers periodically.

"Liquid" room fresheners can also act as a decor

Fragrance with the scent of your favorite perfume

Everyone has a perfume that is running out, or an empty bottle that still exudes a subtle smell and therefore it is a pity to throw it away. We offer to give new life to your favorite scent. You will need:

  • perfume bottle;
  • small scissors;
  • distilled or boiled water;
  • wooden culinary skewers;
  • syringe.

We only need a bottle, so the spray will have to be removed with old scissors. It is advisable to sterilize the skewers in boiling water. Using a syringe, fill the bottle with water by one quarter and insert wooden sticks into the neck. The intensity and duration of the scent will depend on the quality of the perfume or eau de parfum itself. Since the neck in perfume bottles is narrow, the liquid will evaporate very slowly and such a fragrance will last for a long time.

The appearance of the fragrance will depend on the beauty of the bottle.

Citrus flavor for the kitchen

Unfortunately, there are also unpleasant odors in the kitchen. A citrus freshener in a spray bottle will help eliminate the smell from escaped milk or burnt dinner. You will need:

  • spray;
  • vodka - 200 ml;
  • orange, lemon - 1 pc.;
  • water - boiled or distilled;
  • orange oil - 3-4 drops.

You only need fruit peels, so you can eat the pulp for health.

Citrus peels are ideal for making a kitchen freshener

Tip: Cut the fruit rinds into thin strips - they will not only be the source of the smell, but also have a decorative look in the bottle.

After you have separated the flesh from the skin and cut the last into strips, you can start preparing the freshener.

  1. Place half of the crusts in a spray bottle.
  2. Hide the rest of the crusts in the refrigerator.
  3. Fill the contents with vodka.
  4. Place the spray bottle in a dark place and let the contents steep for 2 days.
  5. Open the bottle.
  6. Add essential oil.
  7. Throw in the remaining crusts and add water.
  8. Shake the bottle well.

An important ingredient in citrus freshener is vodka or alcohol.

When you see that the freshener runs out, then feel free to start preparing a new one. By the way, any clean container or bottle is useful for this.

Tip: if you need to quickly eliminate an unpleasant odor, but there is no freshener at hand, then take a few coffee beans, a cinnamon stick or dried citrus peels and place them on the hot burner of a gas stove. In just a minute, your kitchen will be filled with the aroma of coffee, cinnamon or orange.

Toilet freshener

To maintain a constant pleasant and fresh smell in the toilet and bathroom, you can use any of the above options. We advise you to choose not only those essential oils that you just like, but also those that can kill bacteria and fungi. These include tea tree, fir, grapefruit, lavender, ylang ylang, and clove oils.

Essential oils are the main ingredients of most types of "home" air fresheners

Since the toilet - not the most sterile place, you will also need additional flavors for the toilet. They should not only freshen the air, but also have disinfecting and cleaning properties.

Toilet bombs 3 in 1

For 30 bombs with a diameter of 2.5-3 cm you will need the following ingredients:

  • shavings of laundry soap - 3 tbsp. heaped spoons;
  • baking soda - 1 glass;
  • citric acid - 3 tbsp. spoons;
  • hydrogen peroxide - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • essential oils - 20 drops are enough.

Laundry soap will make the mass from which the bombs are to be molded plastic. It also has antimicrobial properties. But, at your discretion, instead of laundry soap, you can take any other, for example, colored. As for citric acid and peroxide, they have a devastating effect on bacteria and fungi. To add additional disinfecting properties and a magical aroma to this "explosive" mixture, we advise you to take four types of oils and measure out 5 drops from each. Let's get down to business.

  1. Rub the soap on a grater to make about 3 tbsp. spoons with a slide.

    The soap is rubbed on a regular grater

  2. Melt the shavings in a water bath.
  3. Pour baking soda and citric acid into a bowl of soapy flakes.
  4. Mix thoroughly.

    Mix the ingredients with a regular spoon

  5. Add essential oil.
  6. Pour in hydrogen peroxide and stir again - you should get a thick, viscous mass.
  7. Blind round balls 2.5–3 cm in diameter.

    To make the bombs a beautiful round shape, you can use special devices

  8. Place the bombs on a flat surface, such as a baking sheet lined with newspaper.
  9. Leave to dry at room temperature for 4-5 hours.

You can, of course, just mix all the ingredients by rubbing the soap on a fine grater. But to obtain a homogeneous soft consistency, it is recommended to first melt the chips, and then mix with the rest of the components.

To make the bombs look pretty, add a little food coloring to the mixture. Fragrant multi-colored balls will delight the eye and decorate the toilet room. When the "bombs" are dry, you can safely use them. You can store ready-made bombs in a box in the bathroom or put in a bowl, from where they will emit an aroma, additionally refreshing the room.

In order for the toilet bowl to be always clean and the air in the toilet to be fresh, you need to throw one such bomb into the toilet bowl or cistern every day. They threw it, waited 5 minutes and flushed it off - the smell is pleasant, the toilet is clean, the germs are destroyed.

And this is how the bombs can look if you use dyes

Toilet tablets 3 in 1

Toilet pills are made in a similar way. You can make them with your hands like bombs or use a silicone ice mold.

For 30 tablets, we need the following components:

  • soda - 2 cups or 15 tbsp. spoons;
  • citric acid - 5 tbsp. spoons;
  • hydrogen peroxide - 5 tbsp. spoons;
  • vinegar 9% - 2.5 tbsp. spoons;
  • essential oils - 20-25 drops;
  • water.

We add water "by eye", a little at a time, so as not to get too liquid mass.

  1. In one bowl, combine baking soda and citric acid.
  2. In another bowl, combine the vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.
  3. Gradually pour the liquid into the baking soda and citric acid mixture and stir immediately.
  4. After combining the contents of the two bowls, add the essential oils.
  5. Add some water.
  6. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until smooth.
  7. Blind 30 flattened balls or fill an ice mold with the resulting mass.
  8. Let the tablets dry for 4-5 hours.

If you use beautiful forms, then such tablets will become an excellent decor for the toilet room.

Use ready-made pills in the same way as bombs.

Tip: do not dry the toilet tablets on the battery - they may crack. Best to dry at room temperature.

You can store pills in a regular jar.

Making flavored toilet pills is a snap.

Toilet block freshener 3 in 1

For this type of freshener, you will need any old toilet wall hanging block and the following components:

  • any soap - 100 g (1 pack of regular or half a pack of laundry soap);
  • vinegar - 1 tbsp. a spoon;
  • soda - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • glycerin - 1 tbsp. a spoon;
  • essential oil - 10-15 drops.

To enhance the aroma, you can buy a fragrance with your favorite scent.

Filler preparation instructions:

  1. Rub the soap on a fine grater.
  2. In a deep bowl, combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  3. Form blocks or balls with your hands, depending on what you need to block.
  4. Wrap the remnants of the homemade air freshener in foil and store in a dark place out of the reach of children.

The big plus of such a freshener is that the soap is washed off gradually, so it is enough for one person living in an apartment for 3-4 weeks. Of course, the duration of such a block will depend on the intensity of the toilet visit.

With the help of colored soap, you can make bright blocks for the toilet, which will not be inferior to the purchased ones.

Toilet Gel Block Freshener

You can also make a gel freshener for the hanging unit yourself. Gelatin will help to achieve the consistency of a thick gel.

Components for preparing a freshener:

  • gelatin - 20 g;
  • water - 1 glass;
  • salt - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • soda - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • vinegar - 3 tbsp. spoons;
  • essential oils - 30-40 drops;
  • food coloring - 1 pack.

Your actions:

  1. Pour the gelatin into a deep bowl and cover with hot water.
  2. When the gelatin swells, stir it with water until it is completely dissolved.
  3. Add color, salt, baking soda, vinegar, oils and stir until all ingredients are dissolved.
  4. Pour the mixture into a shallow container and refrigerate for several hours.
  5. After the mass has hardened, remove it from the refrigerator and cut into pieces of the desired size.

A shallow rectangular container is suitable as a shape. Future jelly is poured in a thickness of 1.5-2 cm, depending on the thickness of the hanging block for the toilet. The jelly is cut out according to the shape of the block, and the rest is cut into the same pieces, then carefully wrapped in film and stored in the freezer.

Cotton wool soaked in essential oils can refresh and absorb unpleasant odors. Simply put 5-10 drops of oil on a small piece of cotton wool and place it in a small jar or bowl. You can enhance the effect of the fragrance by placing it near a heat source.

Car air fresheners

Since the car has long been transformed from a luxury item into a necessary means of transportation, you need to take care of the interior fragrance. Purchased "odors" can hardly be called useful for the human body, and the synthetic smell sometimes cuts the nose so much that there is a desire to leave the car and walk.

It's easy to learn how to make natural and healthy flavors. We offer several options.

Fragrant sachet

Cotton wool is placed in a small bag made of organza (you can buy it or sew it yourself), and then add 5-10 drops of essential oil inside. You can do more, but do not forget that the area of the car's interior is much smaller than the area of the living space, and the smell of pure essential oils is quite concentrated. This sachet will delight you with a wonderful aroma for a week. When the smell becomes less noticeable, you will need to add a few drops of oil again.

Instead of cotton wool and oil, you can use coffee beans, aromatic herbs, leaves and petals. The bag can be made of any fabric that allows air to pass through.

This sachet can be hung on a mirror or thrown under the seat.

Coffee beans will absorb all unwanted odors

Gel Car Fragrance

If you want the flavor to be "in sight", then you have to take care of a beautiful jar. If you have a container left over from an old freshener, then wash it and use it boldly.

You can see the recipe for the gel freshener above. The only thing that you need is fewer ingredients. For example, it will be enough to prepare a "puff" from 50 ml of water, 10 g of gelatin, 1 teaspoon of glycerin and 5-10 drops of essential oil.

You can also use an old hanging liquid fragrance container by pouring the essential oil into it.

Hanging auto-fragrance made of fabric

Another option for hanging fragrance. You will need:

  • favorite essential oil or aroma composition;
  • a piece of felt, felt or thick coat fabric;
  • cardboard for making stencils;
  • pen or felt-tip pen;
  • cord or tape;
  • scissors.

Armed with everything you need, get down to business.

  1. On cardboard, draw any object that you like: a leaf, a flower, a Christmas tree, a heart, whatever.
  2. Cut out the pattern with scissors.
  3. Place the design on the fabric and trace with a pen.
  4. Of course, if you are a good artist, you can paint directly on the fabric.
  5. Cut the design out of the fabric.

    It turned out to be a pretty cute Christmas tree for a future flavoring agent.

  6. Make a hole at the top with scissors or a sharp object.
  7. Pull a ribbon or cord through the hole.
  8. Apply 10-15 drops of oil to a cloth.
  9. Hang it on the mirror and savor your favorite scent.

    Felt "herringbone" will fill the car interior with a delicate aroma

It will be pleasant to be in such a salon, in addition, essential oils benefit the body.

How long do homemade "puffs" last and for what area they are enough

Any living room freshener made in the quantities suggested is sufficient for an area of 15–18 m². For large rooms, we recommend using two fragrances, placing them in different corners. On average, one such freshener will last 2-4 weeks, but you can keep them looking fresh with the tips above.

For toilet fresheners, the duration will depend on the number of people in the house and the frequency of visits. "Fragrances" for cars delight on average 1-2 weeks, but their smell can be renewed on the principle of renewing a gel freshener for the home, or simply put a few drops of oil on a sachet or cloth.

Sometimes, even after a general cleaning in the apartment, it is not possible to get rid of unpleasant odors. If you are also familiar with this situation, do not get upset prematurely.

With these helpful tips, you can improve the odor in your home.

1. Soda

You don't have to run to the store to improve the smell in the room. Natural products and products for neutralizing unpleasant odors are now more popular. One of these products is regular baking soda, because it has the ability to absorb all pesky odors.

Freshening up the air in your home with baking soda can be as simple as placing several containers of baking soda in different corners of your living room. Be careful, because you need to place the baking soda out of the reach of children.

2. charcoal

Another effective natural air freshener is charcoal. It will help neutralize strong unpleasant odors; besides, it is coal that is perfect for rooms with high humidity. Do not forget to change the charcoal to new from time to time to achieve the desired effect.

Do you use an air freshener and can't imagine life without this handy assistant? Of course, the modern world dictates its own terms. Various flavors are advertised on TV to suit all tastes and budgets. But are these seemingly necessary aerosols so harmless?

Do flavors help?

You will be surprised, but an air freshener is the most unnecessary item money can buy. Why? The fact is that the product does not eliminate the unpleasant odor, but only masks it. And this is not a secret for anyone. So why buy such a useless item?

In addition to the fact that this tool does not improve the air in the room, it can still harm health. How?

What's inside?

Almost all air fresheners are made up of four main components: petroleum distillates, formaldehyde, p-dichlorobenzene, and aerosol propellants. Why are these seemingly necessary chemical compounds dangerous?

What is the problem?

You will be surprised, but the components listed above have a negative impact not only on human health, but also on the environment.

For example, oil distillers coming into use from the petrochemical industry pollute the air, soil and water. In addition, they can provoke the following pathological conditions in fans of air fresheners:

  • Respiratory problems.
  • Choking attacks.
  • Chemical pneumonia (that is, inflammation of the lungs caused by inhalation of chemical fumes).
  • Various pathologies of the lungs.

Formaldehyde also does not contribute to the health of the person inhaling the fragrance of the air freshener. They can contribute to the occurrence of such dangerous symptoms and conditions:

  • Lachrymation.
  • Burns to the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, throat, and so on.
  • Nausea.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Asthma attacks.

P-dichlorobenzene is also corrosive and can cause:

  • Anemia.
  • Various skin lesions.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Liver damage.
  • Change in blood.

What about aerosol propellants? Not only do they contribute to damage to the ozone layer of the Earth, when these compounds are inhaled, a person can develop such dangerous diseases:

  • Oncology.
  • Respiratory problems.
  • Development of chronic ailments.

What do scientists say?

As you can see, the means that are designed to improve indoor air quality only worsen the situation. The air becomes toxic and hazardous to health. Studies have shown that people who use air fresheners frequently suffer from asthma, allergies, and other breathing problems in most cases. In addition, chemical elements released into the air from the scent can harm small children and animals.

Is there an alternative?

Of course have! There are many ways to improve the indoor climate. Don't rush to buy chemical fresheners right away. You can use the recommendations below.

Here are some proven tips for any housewife to take note of:

  • Make a pomander. To do this, take a small and fragrant orange, make punctures in the peel with a toothpick, and then insert the sticks of fragrant cloves into the holes. We send our blank in a paper bag for several weeks, leave it in a dry and cool place, after which we draw out the pomander and decorate it in an original way.
  • Open windows. This is the safest way to freshen the air. Ventilate the room more often, and then you will not be afraid of any smells.
  • Use citrus peels to mask unpleasant odors.

  • Prepare the spices. Put cinnamon, cloves, or nutmeg in a skillet or simmer. Your home will be filled with unforgettable aromas.
  • Odor absorbers. The safest of these are baking soda and vinegar. Place them in an open container and place them near the source of the unpleasant odor. You can sprinkle baking soda on any problem surface. Over time, the air will become fresher.
  • Create your own medley. To do this, grind dry herbs, spices and flowers and leave them on a decorated plate.

  • Use vinegar to wipe down surfaces that give off a heavy odor.
  • Use essential oils. Apply a little to the aroma lamp and your room will be filled with an unusually pleasant scent.
  • Soak a cotton swab, place it in a bowl, and place it where the smell is bad. Over time, the heavy aroma will disappear.
